I love RPG's, I have only really played the d20 system but I would love to try some others. I love Call of Cthulhu and d20 Modern best but most my friends prefer D&D.
I played some White Wolf and liked it, but I really appreciate d20 a lot. For one thing, rolling more dice (WW) does not improve your chances of success statistically as much as adding a modifier (d20).
Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.

Terribly sorry I haven't been around lately... there's been a lot of crap in my life right now and I'm currently residing at my dad's.
But that doesnt even compare to your misfortune, Daftmouse. My condolences.
As for RPing... well let's just say it's not forum appropriate
Okay, just kidding, but I haven't done any RPing for a really long time.
Anyways, hopefully we can breathe some life back into this clan. I took a break from Magic and from forums. but I've returned to doing both, so hopefully I'll be around more often.
No, I don't role-play. I like to do other things in my time than stuff like that.
PurpleD: Welcome back! Good to see our leader again.
Also, you might check the NFL thread. Petear_Griffing is just blasting your Bears. I've tried to defend (I do like the Bears and the Seahawks), but then again, he's always been a Bear-hater.
Hey, just checking in with you guys in House Dimir. I was just updating the Izzet wiki page and while I was putting in the section about the Triple Alliance, it occured to me to wonder where exactly the Alliance was.
I also noticed that Rakdos has opted to include Clan Mono-black in the Triple Alliance and I was wondering if this was something that the Izzet had missed, but when I checked out the Dimir page, I couldn't find mention of the Triple Alliance.
So I'm wondering where you guys stand on this. I think we all stand to benefit from the TA, but I'm unsure about adding mono-black. I'd rather not add them, but I'd be willing to add them if all three of us voted them in with a majority of each guild agreeing. Still, they are a newer guild, so I'd rather wait and see if they last and start to look more clanlike.
There's no need to make a big deal of the triple alliance, and I'm not suggesting a voting block, as the mods have frowned on that. I just think it would be a shame to see it pass away.
...
On another note, I was in the process of updating the wiki pages for the izzet and realised it would be cool to update the pages for the members of the triple alliance. Obviously, I don't know as much about the spirit, policies, and history of your clan as you do, but if you PM with a writeup of some of that stuff, I'll add it to your page.
Back in the day, The Izzet founder left House Dimir to start The Izzet. Since the beginning of the Izzet, we have been in a tight triple alliance with Rakdos and Dimir. It's obvious that it has kind of slipped between the cracks. We need to revive this sucker. It will certainly help with a slowing thread if we consider sharing in each other's threads.
But, to quote PurpleD, "TA for ever."
And did they cancel hecatomb? It seemed like a kind of gimmicky game, but interesting. Still, how wierd is it that they would make an entirely other game with the name of a magic card?
Ah, yes... the triple alliance. I still, as the leader of this clan stand behind it. Unfortunately, being my idea, it seemed to fizzle when our clan (especially myself) started frequenting our thread as often. I'm trying to return to posting with some amount of regularity, and when I am on, I'll try my best to revive and join these 3 great clans once again.
As for mono-black, they have already agreed to be friends with dimir and Rakdos, but I am opposed to them forming a quadruple alliance.
In other guild-political matters, Orzhov proposed a merger, simply because both of our clans are losing activity. I vote against this merger, mostly because if we were ready for a merger, I would have to talk to Izzet and Rakdos first. Still, if our members feel it is beneficial to merge with Orzhov and/or include mono-black in the TA, i'm willing to hear what you have to say.
As for me, Ive been pretty busy with an interesting semester at school. I've been writing and doing graphics for my school paper, so that's been taking up a lot of my time. On top of that, our layout guy is sick, so I'm doing graphics, layout and writing 2 articles. Busy busy. Along with that stuff, my girlfriends (over 2 months now ^_^) has been keeping me busy.
Oh, and I bought a PS3 on Sunday
I've got NBA street and i'm getting Resistance. I'm not going to let her, but my gf wants to buy me virtua fighter as well. If any of you are on the PS3 network, gimme a shout. I'm sure you can guess my username.
Alright then, Triple Alliance it is! The only reason I would have to not letting Clan Mono Black not be in this alliance is that it then would require such things as a mono red clan and such, which would just clutter the boards and spread the clans even more thin.
It does seem that Rakdos, Dimir and Orzhov are dying off. This is saddening, and at the same time cool (only in the fact that it would make the Izzet the only lasting Guild Clan... I think... damn I'm such a greedy and egotistical bastard). I wouldn't have a problem with the mergence of the Orzhov and Dimir, but their goals seem rather seperate... aside from the conquering, of course (so maybe just the way they go about it?). Wamyc should probably speak on behalf of the Izzet on such a manner, as he knows the politics.?.
So the mods frowned upon our cooperation in the past, eh? What about this next contest... we could bend some rules (that have yet to be established, might I add) and... no, I'll stop my schemes there...;)

The Triple Alliance has always been Dimir-Rakdos-Izzet because it's the most appropriate for us. Orhzov adds something entirely different, and it's not really the thing for Dimir, I think.
Tangentially related to the color pie, Planar Chaos. WTF? I played some causal draft last weekend, and, seriously, I played a GW deck with counterspells, and burn. Who does that?

But that's all the fun of Planar Chaos! But then... I'm a schizophrenic member of the Izzet...
While en route to the lavatory (in the Izzet, that doesn't mean bathroom;)), I thought that if the guilded clans are having trouble with survival, why not all merge into one super-clan: The [Guilds]!!1!
It may well be a crazy idea, but that's what I'm here for, is it not?

The rakdos have explained to me that clan mono-black was just an ally of theirs and that they didn't really mean to include them in the Triple Alliance. Which is just as well for me as well. I have nothing against them, but it does needlessly complicate the alliance, and they are rather newish clan.
The biggest task and responsibilty of the Triple Alliance is to make sure that each of our guilds has the power to remain active. When one of us is in trouble, we should come to the aid of that guild. There was a time, when Wuffles, Canada Man, Faust, and Shino Tenshi left the Izzet for [499] and things were pretty touch and go as we reformed our numbers.
Well, Dimir and Rakdos were there to help us out, and we should be there for them now that the Izzet are doing fairly well. The interesting thing about the Triple Alliance is that our clans are different enough that we can't really merge without loosing something. Tell me if you disagree, but I think we won't ever merge into one clan. Instead, we'll support each other in being three clans.
Oh, and I think you guys did a good job on the last clan contest. We would have voted for you guys (I think) If we had entered.
@Ravus: I don't think a guild superclan would work that well. People joined the different clans because they represented different mindsets. Imagine an Azorious guy having to put up with a Gruul guy in the same thread!
Dimirians, I'm just curious. If you merged with Ghost mafia, what would be the terms of the merger? It's cool to think of the orzhov as the funds and public face for the power reaching moves of the necrosages and the ghost council, but on a more practical note, what would the clan title be?
As unlikely as it seems, if the title were somehow still "Dimir" or perhaps included "Dimir," it would be easier to preserve the Triple Alliance.
I'd call it "the Unseen mafia" but that's purely because it sounds cool. I'm still not a huge fan of a merger with them.
As for the "Guilds" clan, we already had a "Guildpact" overclan a long while ago, and it died almost instantly. I've never been a fan of making a massive guilds clan because that just seems like trying to keep something alive which may be inevitably dead.
With that said, I think that the TA members, once reconnecting may see a merger as a possibility. By no means is this in plans, but maybe in the near future. Right now I'm just trying to focus on my individual responsibilities... I'm still pretty ticked that we got disqualified from the last contest because we didn't vote (my bad).
Really? We were ticked that we couldn't vote because we didn't have an entry. That doesn't really make sense.
I don't think a [Guildpact] clan could ever work again. I see the vigilance of the clans and adaptation as the key to figuring out how to keep things going. One thing to keep in mind is that once you change your name away from the guild name, you lose some of the name recognition that gets you new members. And for the time being, that is still in the minds of new players.
Yeah, the naming may be an issue, but if the Dimir keep their Dimir sigs, and likewise with the Ghost Mafia, just add in something about the merge and maybe the TA, the members would still flow.

I love the Idea of a merge with the Orzhov (of course that is only 'cause Trebor is in both Dimir and Orzhov (as well as Azorius)). However I still wouldn't mind us getting more people to join our clan instead, I think that we should certainly feel out people before we invite them in the clan and try to do in a very Dimir stealthy yet forceful kinda way.

I personnally think you guys should keep your thread unique an allow the ghost mafia members to join your clan if they want to if their thread dies. But killing your thread would just be silly.
However if it does happen, we'll have to renegotiate the Alliance. I'd imagine that our alliance with Izzet wouldn't change, but we'd have to figure out the rest as we go ahead. Just giving you the heads up. PM me if anything happens pls. Thank you
Both clans involved are in dire need of a merge. Both clan's activity has been less than satisfactory, so I don't see a reason why one would take precedence over the other. That's why it's a merge, and not an assimilation.
