Damn, Dave... that's some horrible news. How're you taking it? Hip replacements are long drawn out painful procedures with long recovery times. Not to mention expensive, not to mention they need to be redone every 15 years for the rest of your life. That really, really sucks. I think you'll be the youngest person I know with an artificial hip. I feel for ya, buddy. :(:(:(
Daron, that is some cool stuff! Where were you reading about it?"
All over. Wikipedia, astronomy websites, and some astronomy books. I can't get enough. I haven't been this interested in something other than my business since... well since before I got married.
In keeping with their tradition, they're shamelessly counter-voting again. We're their only competition in this supposedly fun clan contest thing, so our supposed brothers are avoiding giving us a vote to artificially raise their stock. I suggest we reconsider giving them first place - basically taking a hit across the face and then handing them the win (even though their submission is subpar on at least 2 of the categories we're supposed to use in voting).
If anyone has anything to add, change, or delete from their bio, let me know and I'll do it.
I noticed the Greek's vote shortly after they made it. I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to stir anything up, but you know what? **** it. How many times have they actually voted according to the requirements of the contest rather than just not vote for whoever is beating them in votes at that time? It's like a slap in the face. If it were up to me, We wouldn't vote for them at all.
Besides, they never should have been in it, anyway. It's called a deadline for a reason. Then Sprout Yukora went and flexed his mini-muscles.
I think we should only consider voting for people who got their submissions in on time and the ones who snuck in through the Yukora-loophole can sod off.
I say we give our votes to RBS and 499, in that order. Vogue's is just....not good. As for the rest, they should've been disqualified.
@Daron. I'll give an updated profile in my next post.
I agree about the deadline. I stayed up WAY too late, skipping doing homework that I should have been working on to get that entry in on time. Let's vote for only those who got in on time.

@Prophet, you do realize that, if I did enforce the original deadline, you wouldn't have been allowed in, right?
Either way, I am sorry if I have caused you grief with the extension, and I have noticed the Greek's rig-vote, as well. I think this is the last time crap like that will be tolerated, as the submissions voted for are obviously not the best.

Emphasis mine. Isn't that what is said everytime this happens? What has been done about it so far? Other than me talking to a ****ing muppet?:-/
Please, call me Christopher or Chris, all my friends do. On second thought, Prophet will do just fine for you.
Well, I'm glad we're being civil here.
I had assumed that, yes. ~shrugs~ What's your point?
Simply that, while you complain about my decision, you guys were guilty of what over-half of the entries were. Except, you guys got a bonus vote, so I really don't see what uoi're complaining about.

You can be critical, and hostile all you want, but I assure you that things are changing now that I am in charge of the Contests. If it's proof that you want, that's fine, it's nothing that I haven't already had to do.

~shrugs~ If late entries were disqualified, then we should have been as well. I guess we reaped the benefits as well this time. Good thing for us that there seems to be no set deadline.

If you prove that you're worth more than what I flushed this morning in regards to the contests, then I'll publicly apologize to you. Good thing I'll never have to, though.
I have noticed the Greek's rig-vote, as well. I think this is the last time crap like that will be tolerated, as the submissions voted for are obviously not the best.
It's a nice gesture, but I don't know how it can be enforced. How can you tell someone who they can and can't vote for? IMO, it's just a show of ill-faith on their part, but it's not against the rules. They can easily say "we didn't like the colour of the Called's entry" and that's that. Of course, most of us know that the Dimir entry (three faces badly shopped onto a silly background) isn't the best, but if they want to vote for it, I think they're allowed. It's just pretty unfortunate. And we realize we lost last year because of such antics, and we helped them along by voting for them if their submission deserved it.
If you prove that you're worth more than what I flushed this morning...
You're trolling pretty hard for a warning, aren't you? Afraid I'm gonna have to give you one. We're annoyed with the Greeks vote, not with the clan forum moderators... and while I'm with you on that, I don't know why you're attacking the mods. If you have some separate issue with them, maybe you should take it up in PMs or at their help desk(s). If this is your frustration over the voting turning in a misguided direction, then please redirect it more appropriately. So, this is a warning, which will result in an infraction if things don't improve.
As for our votes this time around, I guess we should wait a couple days and cool off before we decide. We have 3 or 4 until they're due (if I understand the deadline...?)

But I'm not attacking the mods. It was just Yukora.
Wait...he's not a mod, is he?
~shrugs~ I won't argue the warning. I just wish I would have been a bit wittier with what I said to get one.:p
But I'm not attacking the mods. It was just Yukora.
Wait...he's not a mod, is he?
Oops, I mixed up our AIM conversation and here... he's not a mod, no. Regardless, the warning is for trolling, doesn't matter who it was. I guess I should have said "those in charge".
@R_E, I had an idea earlier, that I would have the Reps PM me the votes, then I'd post the results. That away, no one could rig-vote, because no one would know who to rig for.
Please remove Prophet's warning. We talked over MSN, and got everything figured out. I understand why he said what he did, and i don't think that he deserves the warning.
Oops, I mixed up our AIM conversation and here... he's not a mod, no. Regardless, the warning is for trolling, doesn't matter who it was.
Technically, the explaination in the warning itself was trolling a mod.;) That's not important, though. I admit I was trolling. ~shrugs~ Like you said, trolling is trolling.:p
Please remove Prophet's warning. We talked over MSN, and got everything figured out. I understand why he said what he did, and i don't think that he deserves the warning.
It's just a warning, not an infraction, and he's aware that it'll "go away" after a month. In the end it won't affect anything because he won't get anymore, right christopher?
As for the voting system, yeah, that may help things.
It's just a warning, not an infraction, and he's aware that it'll "go away" after a month. In the end it won't affect anything because he won't get anymore, right christopher?
Well, I'm not planing on it, if that's what you're asking.:sneaky:
Actually, I was wondering. If a female user was PMSing it pretty bad, would that be good enough of an excuse to get a lil leeway as far as warnings, or no?
@R_E, I had an idea earlier, that I would have the Reps PM me the votes, then I'd post the results. That away, no one could rig-vote, because no one would know who to rig for.
That doesn't seem to me like it would help much. Traditionally, The Called and the Greek Alliance has always had the consistently best contest entries. It doesn't take a genius to know that you shouldn't vote for them if you want to increase your odds of winning (essentially, we each know that a vote for the other clan is a vote against our clan.) Hiding the votes won't fix that, but it will introduce losing clans the grounds to contest the results as being "fixed" by the mods.
I think a better idea would be having impartial parties vote on the contests. Perhaps each moderator could be given a vote, instead of (or in addition to) each clan. No idea how much mod interest there would be, but it'd be fairer.

**** no it wouldn't. Women deal with PMS on a constant basis, and there is no reason that they shouldn't learn to adjust to it. No reason, except that they don't want to and just like to use it as a reason to act *****y and ridiculous for a week. No sympathy there. If anything, women should be banned from posting whenever they're PMSing.
women should be banned from posting whenever they're PMSing.
hahah you got a chuckle from me... and maybe it's because I've had 7 beer, maybe not... who knows eh?
(it's 6am and I'm up drinking.... no, I don't have a problem and my life is fine, thanks for asking!!!)
But Yukora, you keep mentioning that we were late. I'm still unsure how that's possible. We submitted on the due date. Was it due at 00:01 that morning, or are we just really confusdd?
* rancored_elf waves Jonskis and pees on hsi shoes* WEEE!
The due date was midnight, central standard time, for the 15th.
Looking back, I never really said midnight, I just said February 15th, Central standard time, which can be confusing, so, because of my own mistype, I decided to allow your entry to be considered on time.
That was confusing. Also, Central Standard Time? That's a VERY odd time zone to go by. Perhaps you can use either EST, PST, or even better, GMT next time? Something that people are probably a little more used to converting to/from.

See, that's just silly. Let's look at this logically. If you use a more standard time zone, then you are the only one inconvenienced. If you use CST, then many many more are inconvenienced. That's just my view on it though.

* jonnyjonski wonders why everytime he sees Daron in the forums his shoes are wet??!?:eyebrow:
The whole time thing is retarded. The fact that the guy incharge of the contests lets his time zone dictate the submittal time is just silly. For once I agree with Mike on this one. These forums are full of people all over the world...especially the clan members. I think the GMT is the best time to go by. That way people east of the GMT can get the submittal in late whereas people west of the zone can feel a sense of relief that they got the submittal in early.
Makes perfect sense!:p

I think you'll be the youngest person I know with an artificial hip. I feel for ya, buddy. :(:(:(
All over. Wikipedia, astronomy websites, and some astronomy books. I can't get enough. I haven't been this interested in something other than my business since... well since before I got married.
Sweet, man! Just mail em back when you're done. Good luck!
Why, you little..!
If anyone has anything to add, change, or delete from their bio, let me know and I'll do it.
.
Besides, they never should have been in it, anyway. It's called a deadline for a reason. Then
SproutYukora went and flexed his mini-muscles.I think we should only consider voting for people who got their submissions in on time and the ones who snuck in through the Yukora-loophole can sod off.
I say we give our votes to RBS and 499, in that order. Vogue's is just....not good. As for the rest, they should've been disqualified.
@Daron. I'll give an updated profile in my next post.

Did really bad in the PTQ but had a great time. Extended is so fast and the new set really had something to say. I saw a good bit of Extirpate and Damnations. I used the Dust elemental with some great success!! I know...I couldn't believe it myself.
Either way, I am sorry if I have caused you grief with the extension, and I have noticed the Greek's rig-vote, as well. I think this is the last time crap like that will be tolerated, as the submissions voted for are obviously not the best.
Please, call me Christopher or Chris, all my friends do. On second thought, Prophet will do just fine for you.
I had assumed that, yes. ~shrugs~ What's your point?
Emphasis mine. Isn't that what is said everytime this happens? What has been done about it so far? Other than me talking to a ****ing muppet?:-/

Have a good day.
Anytime pal.
Just seeing your pretty blue font perks me right up, sugar.:unibrow:

We missed the deadline? I wasn't aware of that. We've been working on this contest since it was announced, and we thought we entered right on time.

Official Deschanel Stalker of The Called
Oops, I mixed up our AIM conversation and here... he's not a mod, no. Regardless, the warning is for trolling, doesn't matter who it was. I guess I should have said "those in charge".
.
Please remove Prophet's warning. We talked over MSN, and got everything figured out. I understand why he said what he did, and i don't think that he deserves the warning.
Technically, the explaination in the warning itself was trolling a mod.;) That's not important, though. I admit I was trolling. ~shrugs~ Like you said, trolling is trolling.:p
Official Deschanel Stalker of The Called
It's just a warning, not an infraction, and he's aware that it'll "go away" after a month. In the end it won't affect anything because he won't get anymore, right christopher?
As for the voting system, yeah, that may help things.

Well, I'm not planing on it, if that's what you're asking.:sneaky:
Actually, I was wondering. If a female user was PMSing it pretty bad, would that be good enough of an excuse to get a lil leeway as far as warnings, or no?
Official Deschanel Stalker of The Called

I see no reason not to rig our votes. Losing isn't fun.
Also, I thought we got the "Bonus" vote because we entered on time. What gives
**** no it wouldn't. Women deal with PMS on a constant basis, and there is no reason that they shouldn't learn to adjust to it. No reason, except that they don't want to and just like to use it as a reason to act *****y and ridiculous for a week. No sympathy there. If anything, women should be banned from posting whenever they're PMSing.
hahah you got a chuckle from me... and maybe it's because I've had 7 beer, maybe not... who knows eh?
(it's 6am and I'm up drinking.... no, I don't have a problem and my life is fine, thanks for asking!!!)
But Yukora, you keep mentioning that we were late. I'm still unsure how that's possible. We submitted on the due date. Was it due at 00:01 that morning, or are we just really confusdd?
* rancored_elf waves Jonskis and pees on hsi shoes* WEEE!

Looking back, I never really said midnight, I just said February 15th, Central standard time, which can be confusing, so, because of my own mistype, I decided to allow your entry to be considered on time.
