Not so bad here right now. Just hangin out today watch some sports - tho right now its Comedy Central. Nothin' on. Nothin to do. It's been a lazy last couple of days for me. Nothing big happening at all. Which I suppose is good compared to the news I've been reading about here lately.
If anyone I haven't played is up for a precon match just PM/IM me. Heck if I HAVE played you I'm still interested in a PM/IM.
Edit: I forgot to mention this before strongbad but I'm not sure your card works as intended. It requires a triggered ability that would have to go on the stack but it CAN'T go on the stack since SBE's are checked after resolution of each spell and since your life total would be 0 or less by that point you'd lose. It needs an "if" clause, IMO. At least I'm about 85% sure on this. Anyone wanna verify for me?
Thanks! Core Set: Salvation really wasn't about MTGSalvation itself, it just sounded neat I wanted to make an Expert-Level Core set, and I think that CS:S does that quite well.
Maybe we should make a core set with WotC and user cards. That'd be pretty cool.

Buzz: I'm so sorry to hear that. Luckily, I've not been in an accident in three years of driving. Not even a ticket, for anything. But I can figure how much it would suck. Just hang in there, and keep your brother level.
Strongbad: And here's the awesome side of driving. Congrats on your license, my friend.
Cecilia: Congrats on the applications. I should be hearing about mine soon enough.
Alacar: I think that Joyd had a Wayfinder. If you really need it, I'll back off on it. It's not my high priority right now.
Dreia: Kirby's awesome. Are you talking about the "Kirby All Stars" game?
Sapphire Tri: By the by, welcome back. Don't know you too well, hope I grow to know ya.
Ninja Pirate: Poker for magic, eh? Sounds fun. I'd lose soo bad...
Mr. Stuff: Oh my god... You don't have Love Hina yet?
Well, I have my own car-related news. My front bumper has finally fallen off. I stood on it to reach something a year ago, and it half fell off. It's been sticking there for almost (or perhaps over) a year now. It finally fell off today. It's in perfect condition, just needs to be reattached. Which I'll probably have done... In ten years or so, when I finally get my car looked at.

Sucks about the car man. You can super glue it back on for the time being.
And we werent playing Poker. I'll explain Pack Poker. Each player opens a pack but doesn't look at their cards, except when checking for a foil. Then they separate the cards by rarity. Each rarity has their own point value. Commons=1 Uncommons and Purples=2 Rares=3. Then you start with the commons and randomly flip up a card, like war. And whoever has the better card gets those two cards. Foils always win, unless an auto-win pops up. Dead // Gone is the auto-win for PC. Then at the end you add up your points. Whoever has the least amount of points pays for both packs, and you keep whatever cards you win.

What determines what is "better", though? I mean, in some cases it's clear (Wrath of God obviously beats Master Healer), but what about in the case of something a little more nebulous, where the card quality is mostly a matter of opinion, format relevancy, or metagame?

I was planning on quitting the precon league and shin' could take my place and i could give him all of my cards including my special monthly cards. Or i was thinking of switching from rats nest to charge of boros.:)
@nai: thanks nai yeah hopefully ill hear from them soon too. *hugs nai*
@ninja_pirate: how are you? how has your weekend been i hope its going well for you so far. *hugs*
@mrrodgers: welcome to the coffeehouse and enjoy your stay here!

Generally we go by what card is better in Limited. But if there is a dispute, just go to the peanut gallery.
Evan: At my old store each one of four players would would pay for one pack and each pack would go into the pile of 60 cards. Then you just play texas hold 'em with those using the converted mana cost as the number on the card. Instead of chips each person would bring a pile of commons (no more than 20 to be used) to be used as chips - and since the winner of the whole thing got to keep the entire 60 card pile you just took back 20 when it was all over.
Then there was the other poker which is exactly what you're talkin about except the better card was also determined by converted mana cost (higher equals better). Of course there was the house rule of "all-in" if both players felt "dangerous" where the winner would be determined by the rare's converted mana cost. Ties would result in going to the next card (in "all-in" case the next uncommon). The one who "won" the most cards wins.
Well, Cecilia, if you do change over, I will be supplying you with 3 Ravnica, 1 Guildpact, 1 Dissension, and 1 Coldsnap, as well as a smaller special pack (probably like 2-3 cards), if you want the special pack.
I'm free for a game, if anyone's interested!
Lessseeee.. outside of the precon league, I need to watch Fahrenheit 9/11. Anyone see it? Any good?
How to Play :
To get a card, PM me and ask for one. You will receive a bingo card with coffee house regulars on it and a free spot in the center.
Whenever someone on your card posts directly after your post, you can collect them. To do this you copy the link to your post (to prove you collected it correctly) and mark it on your card.
First person to each of the following wins a cookie, and collects a point towards the final (when all possible wins are collected, there will be something special for whoever has the most wins)
I suggest keeping your card in ASCII in your sig (as shown above), and add your stamps as you get them. Write down the actual card with the attached names on a sheet of paper or in notepad or something. Keep the links for your collected stamps available as well to PM them to me. People will see how close you are to winning but wont know what names you need. Please do not collude to collect names.
I will not be participating since it would be a conflict of intrests.

Just got back from the post office. My sweetie sent me a parcel for Valentine's Day and I just picked it up today. Inside was a large tin of dark chocolate covered espresso beans, and a smaller tin of luxury hot cocoa powder. I'ma be up late tonight ^_____^
Also, got to borrow the roommates car and went to the comic store out in Dundalk, where I got some Russian 9th packs. Force of nature, foil Moti, foil Urza's Power Plant, and Relentless Assault among other things.
I am very tired today so I may really benefit from the coffee beans.
I can't bear coffee; I've tried it a few times, but the smell is very off-putting. (I don't like bitter things in general at all; the smell of beer also makes me sick.)
Why are you withdrawing? That was sudden? I was looking forward to playing you. Actually thought it would be a nice change from the Legacy games we have been playing.

Well I thought it was for fun at first but it just feels more of a competitive atmosphere for me then a casual one. Thats one of the main reasons why I quit playing in large legacy events was because I want to move away from playing anything competitive for awhile in magic.
I love coffee, and everything in the coffee related world, save Starbucks. Chocolate covered espresso beans are delicious, and I love them so. I'm watching Scrubs right now. I love this show just as much as I love coffee
I'm beginning to agree with Cecilia--it's fun to work on the deck and all but it's flooding the Coffeehouse way too much recently. Basically, I'd like all talk of the League shifted to the League thread, to spare the House.
And it IS getting a bit competitive, but you're trying to outbeat yourself with what you can do with your deck.. and it's not as fun. Still, beating the tar out of Nai helped

That's an appropriate gift for you- subtly sweet, but with a depth of sophistication.

Aw. You should play my deck, it flops around like a dead fish! It's not competitive at all!
I do sort of feel like we have been dominating the thread, though, with all of this talk, so it might be good to withdraw. It is competitive, but in a different way, I feel. We all just want to see if we can get better, and there is a general enthusiasm. I don't see what is wrong with that. But I do think that we should probably move conversation away from here for the most part. We can always talk game results, trades, and strategy (because seriously, the format is just fascinating) in our own Playtest/Deckbuilding thread.

Is everyone watching scrubs right now? The website I gave before tweekerville.com/scrubs.asp is phenomenal. So I played my first league game today vs crimson and they were really good games.
Does anyone else want to play, IM me with your ip because I can't go into mwschat crimson is going to tell me how to get around verizon so i can though
I dont have any plans for today I might go chill with my friend tonight, or sleep or sometihing like that.
@Chocolate covered espresso- I have talked about my hate for coffee and my love for hot chocolate, i've never tried that though sounds interesting

Well there isnt anything wrong with the precon league I just rather play something more simple and casual then something more complicated and competitive like the legacy metagame. So sorry I didn't mean to upset anyone if i said there was something wrong with the precon league I mean I of course love yusuke's idea though for this format.
I do appreciate alacar giving us all really good cards monthly but to be honest I think thats when the precon league started changing from casual to competitive. I also thought you could only order packs from your respective block that your precon deck came from so thats why i just kept on ordering kamigawa since i felt that was alot more fair and also made the format more casual then competitive.
