@iPod 30GB: After reading everything, I say go for the bigger one if you want to put video on there. You have to remember that's part of the goodness for going for hte 30GB. Get to put a few movies on there if you please - or at the very least some skits or other video content. Always good.

Welcome back shaharazad long time no see! How are you doing these days?
@iPod30GB: I have one and it is about 2/3 of the way filled. Truth is 1000 songs seems like a lot but it really isn't, less than 100 CD's worth of music, which is why I tell people not to invest in the nano. You are better of spending the extra money and having too much room than too little.
@300: Brilliant movie totally worth my $10
@TMNT: Equally amazing but for different reasons.
The play had its final performance yesterday and during Act II, in which I do very little, I had time to just sit and think, and I realized that doing the school play truly brings a lot of people together, who may normally may not be friends. It's nice.
New banner and avatar! Yay! Very much big thanks to Craven on them. And it reminds me, that I still need a Wii and Nintendo needs to hurry up with the new Fire Emblem game! *Curls himself into a ball* I need my fix...don't hold out on me, man...
Hehe...
Anywho, I'm doing pretty well today. I slept late and am playing some FFT now. Since I have off until Friday, I'll see if I can hang around the 'House and post more often.
I'm back. After running to 3 different stores I finally got an older generation 4GB white nano. I know video is cool and all, but I want music, not video. It was right in my price range and it was the last one in the store. Thank god.
It is white, and I prefer the black, but it's twice the carrying capacity.
Mamilon-Very good poetry,I really enjoyed it.Keep them coming!
Why thank you, I'm glad you liked it.
Quote from Photon Eater »
Also, since I just can't let Mamelon share something without doing the same-
You. You won't get past me!
I'll warn you, my style is ... well, esoteric. I like to write from the perspective of other people. This particular piece is written from the viewpoint of a certain woman, one who was very selfish and very self destructive. She really was very fascinating, as she strove to be very liberated and free from all obligation, but ultimately was a slave to her own vices.
I like Polyphagia, but I did expect to see Salvage. But you've posted that before, yes? Anyway, good to show your range.
Quote from Strongbad »
@Mamelon: That poem is beautiful. Care to tell us what it is about or what went into writing it? I'm always curious as to what is going through a poet's mind when they write a poem.
It's hard to say, really . . . there are a lot of different feelings, events, images, etc, that contribute to these things. Usually, something I see or hear will spark something in me, touch an unspoken understanding, and I'll just start coming up with individual lines that sound significant to me. I'll start writing them down, coming up with more lines and finding the ones that fit together, and then I'll complete it. I generally don't know exactly where I'm going until I get there.
It's hard to comment about my poems' intent for that very reason, but I can tell you what I see in the finished work. I feel this poem is representative of me and how I experience life. It uses a lot of uncertain, indefinite terms, like "somewhere," "something," "no one," "over there," and so on. I like these words. The idea of clear, unclear, seen, unseen, is prominent. There's an aspect of indecision, but more of a fuzzy egde, tacit and a little sad, rather than outright confusion. I see someone standing in a strange place, surrounding by weird shapes and lights, captivated by ambivalence. I see someone who almost understands what is going on, but not quite. I see someone who knows this, and has mixed feelings about it.
I'd really like to see some detailed input from someone else, to see what they see in the poem, and how it was conveyed.
@Kevin's poem: I do like your poem. It's very simple and clear, with a quality of innocence and brevity. I especially like how you finish each stanza - "Peacefulness is grass since grass does not make noise," "We live and breathe when grass is here," and finally, "No matter where you go you will always see grass." It's a comforting feeling that's projected by that. You make grass into a very clear symbol, and by saying these things you make clear statements about what the symbol represents.
Quote from Umgenni Kemo »
@ Mamelon: Your poem is very pretty... but I have feeling it would be much more so if it was a rhymed one. It seems to me to have quite a noticeable rhythm, which just begs to be more refined. Also, does the poem perhaps have a title? I feel that one might be of some help, both to the reader to direct the way in which the interpretation might go, and to the words to create a more vivid image.
I would like it if it rhymed, but I don't ask for too much. I don't completely control the poem. I often have a hard time with rhyme schemes because I always feel like I'm forcing the rhymes in there. I always feel like I'm warping the poem by changing it just to make it rhyme. It's usually not like with a clear rhythm, though.
There isn't a title, as it isn't really a formal work. I could give it one, though.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Heylo everyone!! I have a couple poems to share, the first of which I wrote in 2002 (I was 18).. I have some more recent ones but since these two are already up online, I figure I'll post 'em:
Words are the poetry of the ages
The nuances of communication-
There is no simple substitution for words-
Even the Deaf have words
Words spoken with fingers
But words, nonetheless!
Beauty is language
Language is communication
Communication consists of talking,
Talking is wrapped around words.
Therefore and thereby,
Words are beauty.
And another one entitled "Handshakes" (written in 7th grade):
Your hand clasped in mine
Whether it's firm, strong and comfortable,
Or if it's loose and cold,
That tells me what sort of a person you are.
If you're afraid to grab my hand,
And shake it, or
If you shake it with a "dead-fish" grip
You can bet, that I won't be impressed,
Right off the bat.
That's a little something called,
"First Impressions", and the firmness of
Your handshake is something
That I and others may use to help judge
If a person is worthy to keep as a friend.
Someone who is sure about themselves...
So straighten up that wrist,
Open your hand and your heart as you
Wrap your fingers around the others' hand
Welcoming them into your lives.
there you go... Hope you enjoy.. let me know what you guys think
Also, to Faerie Lord for the 4100th post!!!
I've made a physical therapy AND chiropractor appointment on Monday.. both.. i'm getting a second opinion from the chiropractor, and following physical therapy as the doctor ordered.. but I may choose to do chiropractor instead/in addition... Does anyone have any recommendations as to which direction i should go?? On the one hand I want fast relief, the other, I don't want to go against what the doc said.. but the doctor seemed really ambivalent about it. didn't really seem to care much... which made me think about how someone said I should probably go get a second opinion if i feel like he didn't care much for it all..
Anyway I've been on ehre for a while, and I SHOUDL be doing other stuff.. ie, job search.. but i dunno, I may switch off with Ryan to do some reading for awhile to rest my back... not sure..

@ungenni: wow thanks for the awesome compliment ungenni. I wrote about 10-15 poems before this one. Well goodluck in school and see you around ungenni!
@mamelon: thanks mamelon! your a pretty impressive poem artist your self. well i hope your having a great day and see you soon! *hugs*
@lilly: aww thats alright im sure you have other great talents that would just blow all of us away.
@omna: i enjoy your poems they seem pretty impressive. You seem to have quite a bit of experience when writing them too.
Well i am going to go for awhile. See you all soon! Have a great day tomorrow everyone! Take care and best wishes to everyone! *hugs and blows kisses*
I too enjoy writing, but I'm not very good at it, so I'll refrain from posting any of my "work". Besides, I'm more of a song/short story person. I can make a mean paper airplane, though.:glee:
I had enough complaints that I decided to change my theme, again.
@Shadowfox. I'm always up for PCL.:D
*edit* My avvy's supposed to open her eyes. I don't see it happening.:-/
Also, about my iPod: I've lost it. Totally. So, I'm boned. I filed a police report and maybe I'll get some insurance back from it. Luckily my mom is awesome and she's helping me pull money together to replace it for my birthday.
Well, at least you were able to get yourself a new one. Sucks that you lost it though.
I redid my request for the avvy and banner combo. Thanks for that site, Mr.Stuff. I was going to use 2 images on there I found somewhere else, but that site had them in better quality and size. Thanks a bunch.
You're welcome.
I'm listening to Morning Musume on Japanaradio right now. Pretty good stuff. They've been playing a lot of them lately, it seems.
Yesterday, I just took the day off, pretty much. I finished Haibane Renmei - the ending made me cry yet again, remembering my friend, etc. Ah well. I also finished Najica Blitz Tactics (which earned a solid "meh"), and got started on Blood+. We only watched around 8 episodes of it in anime club, so that's where I picked it up. It's started to get better from where we left off.
I skipped out on the banner/av contest last week, but this week's theme is "flight", and I have some pretty good ideas for this one, so I'll probably do that tomorrow evening.
Right now, I'm in at (the parents') work, playing around on broadband, and shopping online for car accessories. I'm definitely getting the KuroNeko fuzzy dice, but I don't know what else I'm getting. I think I may just wait and see what I can find at AnimePunch next weekend, although the last few dealers' rooms that I've been to have been less than spectacular. I'm up for a PCL or casual game on MWS, if anyone wants to play. Just PM me.
Edit after 1 hour: Shopping is going alright... I found some Totoro seatbelt-covers on Ebay that made me squee with joy. Yes, squee. After doing some reading on various things though, I've decided I'm gonna wait at least until after anime punch to order anything. I would like to see what I can find there first, since such niche items are bound to be more accessible there - I think. Anyway, I can still play maybe one game if somebody is on and wants to play in the next few minutes.
Poetry: I think I'll include the poem of mine I love best. And, after I make my Fictionpress/Fanfiction sites kid-friendly again (there's nothing TOO bad on there, but I delved into the vice of boy/boy love with a particular video game, and I'm not too proud of it), I'll include the links to it somewhere around here.
A sentinal stands
On a hill
Ignoring the wind
Its persistant chill
In one hand a sword
In the other a shield
He stares unblinkingly
At the lower field
Down there stands a farmer
Working with his wife
Cutting down their wheat
With a dull bone knife
The soldier descents
With long and silent steps
Towards the lowly farmer
With long and silent steps
But the soldier doesn’t stride
His leg leaks blood
He limps along the field
Leaving behind red mud
The farmer looks over
And smiles with kindness
And he gave welcome to the stranger
“Come, have a rest.”
The man was grateful
And slowly moved in the house
And made himself a scarce guest
Not disturbing a mouse
It took him weeks to heal
He paid his stay in work
And quickly cut the fields
With a razor sharp dirk
A month went by like nothing
And soon he said farewell
To the nice woman and the farmer
But there is more to tell
For another year passed
The soldier was fighting war
He worked for a high baron
Who had land, but wanted more
The soldier came to a field
A field at which he gazed
A job he had to do
The house had to be razed
The soldier walked to the field
Holding a burning branch
His orders were quite simple
“Go and burn the ranch.”
The soldier saw the farmer
And hence pulled out his blade
And reached a fated crossroad
One of which heroes are made
He doused the branch with water
And took a hand of grain
He sliced the stalks with ease,
His meaning very plain
Since then he fights no longer
He turned a pacifist
He lives on an adjacent farm
With the first girl he ever kissed
There will be no searching for me, darnit. Not until I clean up the place with things I don't want on those accounts.
Photon: I Was wondering who that was! I didn't recognize him with the stubble. Huh.
Alacar: I have an 80gig iPod Video, and my music takes up... Blegh. Maybe an 8th of that right now? I also don't want to go through the trouble to convert my movies to fit onto it. I think it's worth it, personally. I'll always have that space.
Buzz: Let's see... Those two are from the GBA Fire Emblem, aren't they? I wasn't too big of a fan of that one... I prefer Path of Radiance.
Ether: God, I loved Sapphire/Ruby. I think I have emerald kicking around somewhere within a few feet of me.
On a slightly related note, is it sad that the only pokemon game I've gotten close to 'beating' is Leafgreen? I filled the entire original pokedex. Took me several weeks to do, with help from a friend. But then there's the new pokedex to deal with... Ergh.
I'm so getting the new pokemon when it comes out.
Lilly: I haven't written poetry in so long... In fact, all of my creative energy is really put into either the Colo or the other RPs I do. I prefer to write out a story with someone else than do it alone. It's hampering my ability to be a writer, but I don't mind all that much.
I have another poem of mine that I want to post, relating to my character Nai, but it's on 'News, which is dead right now. Darn.
Yes Nai, they are from Fire Emblem 7. Path of Radiance was good, but I didn't like that doing the supports were basically for nothing since they didn't have special endings to work for and they didn't keep track of which support convo's you've done. Not a bad game, by any means.
I appreciate the kind words about my banner. But those with keen eyes will notice a mistake on my part. I mistyped what I wanted on the banner at first, and am currently groveling at Craven's feet asking him to fix it for me.
I chose Heath and Priscilla because they were my favorite couple, probably somewhere on par with Hector/Lyn. I might do those 2 for my next banner.
@Mr. Stuff:....KuroNeko dice? *dies* Must have fuzzy kitty dice...:D
There isn't too much to comment on besides nice new avvy's and banners. Love 'em all!
*Keeps a cup of pink grapefruit tea ready for Umgenni*
The coming week and weekend will be incredibly busy for me. I'm sure the following week will differ little. I'm leaving for Florida on Thursday afternoon and return Monday in the wee hours of the morning. I'm not sure if I'll be around at all during that time. I intend to send a message to Crim when I arrive, so he may let everyone know I made it (safely and without trouble I hope). I'll ask him.
@Dreia: well have a safe trip! We will all see you when we get back. As always best wishes to you!
@omna: well i am glad your doing alright omna and i hope your leg condition will get better soon.
Well goodnight everyone! I will be on msn and aol messenger if anyone wants to talk to me. See you all soon! Have a great week starting from tommorrow as well everyone! *Hugs and blows kisses*
New everything for me. This is an old banner, but fits until I make the new one... plus I like it anyway. I am still awake, and it is 1am. This means work tomorrow will suck. *sigh*
Alacar: I have an 80gig iPod Video, and my music takes up... Blegh. Maybe an 8th of that right now? I also don't want to go through the trouble to convert my movies to fit onto it. I think it's worth it, personally. I'll always have that space.
Thanks, but no thanks. I want an Mp3 player, not a big waste of money and drive space. I hope I never have the need for an 80GB iPod. If I want to watch movies and such, I'll get a freaking laptop.
I got my iPod for one reason--to listen to the music I like. Having limited space allows me to pluck the songs and such I like, not everything under the sun on my iTunes.
Goodnight alacar and mr. stuff. By the way mr. stuff i love your new avy and banner it looks pretty cool.
Sweetdreams everyone! I go to work this coming tuesday which is cool. I enjoy my job quite a bit and im looking forward to moving up in position as well. Night everyone! *hugs and blows kisses*
I'm in a bad mood. Months ago, my mother told me she'd do my taxes for me (before anyone jumps to a conclusion, I never asked her to, she insisted on it - I wanted to learn how to do it myself) and she told me she just needed the information from my personal W2s to enter in online. Now, like a week ago, she tells me that she now needs my actual W2s so that I can mail them in. Not thinking I'd need them anymore, I'd put them away somewhere weeks before we moved, and now, I can't find them. I've looked everywhere in this house that might have papers filed away, and I just can't find them. This means I'm not getting any tax refund. Which sucks, because I was really counting on that money for a number of things.

@Mamelon: No chance for e-filing? Mind you I haven't had to do one of these for a couple of years (mostly for not having a job) but you can file for free if you know approximately what you're doing by going here. The catch is you have to make less than $52,000 but I'm fairly sure that's true for you.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
I never saw the point in putting whole albums in anyway. Hardly anyone ever likes all the tracks on an album, so why are you carrying the tracks you don't like around with you? Silly people.
I must say I'm kind of a full-album guy. The way I see it, it's just more rewarding (or not) to listen to an album the way the band concepted it, with a specific track following another, etc. Of course, when I grow tired of an album, I usually keep from putting all of it into my MP3 player, and instead pick the three or four best tracks. For reference, this morning, only "There Goes The Fear", "Words", and "N.Y." from Doves' The Last Broadcast made the cut.

Well i am going to go for awhile. See you all soon! Have a great day tomorrow everyone! Take care and best wishes to everyone! *hugs and blows kisses*
Love,
Cecilia
I had enough complaints that I decided to change my theme, again.
@Shadowfox. I'm always up for PCL.:D
*edit* My avvy's supposed to open her eyes. I don't see it happening.:-/

Not at all. Cosplay stores are the bestest.
Well, at least you were able to get yourself a new one. Sucks that you lost it though.
On a hill
Ignoring the wind
Its persistant chill
In one hand a sword
In the other a shield
He stares unblinkingly
At the lower field
Down there stands a farmer
Working with his wife
Cutting down their wheat
With a dull bone knife
The soldier descents
With long and silent steps
Towards the lowly farmer
With long and silent steps
But the soldier doesn’t stride
His leg leaks blood
He limps along the field
Leaving behind red mud
The farmer looks over
And smiles with kindness
And he gave welcome to the stranger
“Come, have a rest.”
The man was grateful
And slowly moved in the house
And made himself a scarce guest
Not disturbing a mouse
It took him weeks to heal
He paid his stay in work
And quickly cut the fields
With a razor sharp dirk
A month went by like nothing
And soon he said farewell
To the nice woman and the farmer
But there is more to tell
For another year passed
The soldier was fighting war
He worked for a high baron
Who had land, but wanted more
The soldier came to a field
A field at which he gazed
A job he had to do
The house had to be razed
The soldier walked to the field
Holding a burning branch
His orders were quite simple
“Go and burn the ranch.”
The soldier saw the farmer
And hence pulled out his blade
And reached a fated crossroad
One of which heroes are made
He doused the branch with water
And took a hand of grain
He sliced the stalks with ease,
His meaning very plain
Since then he fights no longer
He turned a pacifist
He lives on an adjacent farm
With the first girl he ever kissed
There will be no searching for me, darnit. Not until I clean up the place with things I don't want on those accounts.
Photon: I Was wondering who that was! I didn't recognize him with the stubble. Huh.
Alacar: I have an 80gig iPod Video, and my music takes up... Blegh. Maybe an 8th of that right now? I also don't want to go through the trouble to convert my movies to fit onto it. I think it's worth it, personally. I'll always have that space.
Buzz: Let's see... Those two are from the GBA Fire Emblem, aren't they? I wasn't too big of a fan of that one... I prefer Path of Radiance.
Ether: God, I loved Sapphire/Ruby. I think I have emerald kicking around somewhere within a few feet of me.
On a slightly related note, is it sad that the only pokemon game I've gotten close to 'beating' is Leafgreen? I filled the entire original pokedex. Took me several weeks to do, with help from a friend. But then there's the new pokedex to deal with... Ergh.
I'm so getting the new pokemon when it comes out.
Lilly: I haven't written poetry in so long... In fact, all of my creative energy is really put into either the Colo or the other RPs I do. I prefer to write out a story with someone else than do it alone. It's hampering my ability to be a writer, but I don't mind all that much.
I have another poem of mine that I want to post, relating to my character Nai, but it's on 'News, which is dead right now. Darn.
My helpdesk should you need me.
Windmills do not work that way!
Take care everyone. I hope to return soon.
~Dreia
@omna: well i am glad your doing alright omna and i hope your leg condition will get better soon.
Well goodnight everyone! I will be on msn and aol messenger if anyone wants to talk to me. See you all soon! Have a great week starting from tommorrow as well everyone! *Hugs and blows kisses*
Love,
Cecilia
New everything for me. This is an old banner, but fits until I make the new one... plus I like it anyway. I am still awake, and it is 1am. This means work tomorrow will suck. *sigh*
Oyasumi, minna. (Goodnight, everybody)
I got my iPod for one reason--to listen to the music I like. Having limited space allows me to pluck the songs and such I like, not everything under the sun on my iTunes.
So, no, it's not worth it to me.
And Armored Core 4 does not excite me.
Good night, Coffeehouse.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.

@Mamelon: No chance for e-filing? Mind you I haven't had to do one of these for a couple of years (mostly for not having a job) but you can file for free if you know approximately what you're doing by going here. The catch is you have to make less than $52,000 but I'm fairly sure that's true for you.
As for me, today's just a bunch of phone calls. Hello India can you please tell me why my TV isn't working - again?
Hmmm taxes huh?well dont worry mamelon,Im sure everything will work itself out.

She knows why.
Feel things annoy me as much as looking for stuff at home and being unable to find them. I hope you manage to track them down soon.
Ditto for me. Actually, I believe I could be a pretty good writer if I tried, but most of my free creative time is already put into my songs anyway.
(And my custom Magic sets. :p)
