You know? I generally don't care much for amateur poetry but I really like this. It's simple in presentation but complex in theme. It communicates something very strongly, but is open to interpretation as to exactly what that might be. Different people will get different things out of this: Is it hopeful or kind of sad? Is the speaker wise or foolish? Do all things happen in their own time or do you have to make things happen?
Nicely done, my friend.
Wow, thanks. I kinda wrote that on the fly, to be honest. It just came out.
There are personal meanings to the poem, but I'd like to hear what more people think.
The avatar SHOULD scare you guys; it's Dahlia Gillespe from the original Silent Hill game. She's giving gypsies a bad name since 1998, yo.
I might be available for a PCL game some time tonight or tomorrow, but I'm not sure, mostly because I don't know what the hell to do with my deck right now. I want some time to feel out trades, too, just to see if I get anything good.
Ya know...something I don't like about Josh working an overnight job where he's away from the house for extended periods of time...well, I dunno how to say this tactully. I'll just leave if cryptic and at the same time not and say...urges develop. Yeah.
Time to do some class creation for a character in the boy's campaign.
Okay, Alacar, way to make me blush! I guess I deserve it, though.
;___; I can't decide what to trade Crimson. I don't know if I'd be better off trading for black, green, or both. I wonder if he has his newest stuff listed...
The women must of lived in jersey. Only there have I have seen the amount of stupid from both men and women..
Its as bad as someone asking me where the ink was in my store as I was stocking it after opening hours cause of the 10 Pallets of it that we recieved late...
****. What, is the coffeehouse cursed this week or something?
I'm thinking I'm one of the only people here actually having a good week, what with getting a new car and all that. Then I get a phone call as I'm driving home from the guy I spent all night watching Higurashi with on Wednesday. Turns out that probably my best friend from college, the guy who had been letting me spend the night in his room when I went up there, suffered a heart failure a couple of days ago. His heart stopped for 23 minutes, and now, he is brain-dead. So, for all intents and purposes, he is dead. I... I don't know what to say about this... I'd go see him if there was anything to see, but the friend I knew is gone. There'd be no point. I think I'm still in shock, actually. He was my best friend all the way through college, and such a great guy. What makes it worse is that we had just thrown him a dinner a couple of days before he died in celebration of his graduation. This was the end of his last quarter at Wright State. He never even got to be presented with his diploma. He was disabled (used a power wheelchair), and I just talked to him last Wednesday about his plans for after graduation, how his parents had helped set him up a house of his own that was wheelchair accessible where he could live and work from home and things. Heck, he was one of the people that got me interested in anime club in the first place. I still remember, since we lived in the same building, a couple times when he called me down in the middle of the night when he couldn't reach something or needed help with something and his personal assistant wasn't there. I remember many nights we'd just hang out in his room and watch stuff, including an Escaflowne marathon one time, and he was one of the first people I'd show off new anime to. He was also one of the most fun people to play Magic with, and his multi-color Bringer/Dragon/Myojin/Sunburst deck conquered many a multiplayer game. I will miss him dearly.
I'd use the crying smiley, but I don't think it can quite convey my sadness. I'll be on intermittently throughout the day if anybody wants to talk to me, or maybe play a PL game to cheer me up.
Wow...I really do not know what to say Stuffy. A proper death would be preferable to what is happenning to your friend...since this lends itself to false hope for some.
Any idea what happenned/why?
It truly is an odd month here at the Coffeehouse...the last week particularly. But it is also a sign of ultimately how strong we all are, and how good of friends we have all begin...as we stand behind each other even when we have our own personal hells to deal with.
Ya know...something I don't like about Josh working an overnight job where he's away from the house for extended periods of time...well, I dunno how to say this tactully. I'll just leave if cryptic and at the same time not and say...urges develop. Yeah.
That is the classiest way to say - to put it somewhat tactfully - "I'm in the mood."

I believe I do... I got mostly crud for trade from the stuff I got this week but if you're in heavy black one could possibly use the Corrupts I pulled. There's still quite a few things I didn't trade too last week. I don't remember a lot of the other things I pulled except maybe some Knighthoods and a Shatter.
@Mr. Stuff: OMFG... that is all I have to say to that... just so sad.
Yes, Alacar, I'm following them. And rolling my eyes the whole time. It seems like people are willing to find anything they can blame for their sphere of experience not living up to their standards.
Guh...I just got done consolidating the Scout (D&D) and the Gunslinger(D20 Modern) into one advanced class. Talk about overpowered!
I think it's ridonkulous, really. Post counts should be allowed to stay. Yes, there are people out there who will comment on nearly everything just to jump that little number up--but imagine for a moment, if you will, an MTGS without people who comment on threads. You'll have conversations that could very well have gone nowhere.
As for mods, I think we have some of the best mods MTGS has ever seen right now. Not one of them gets on my nerves, and although Sneakies will be missed as an admin, I honestly think they've been doing their duties a lot better. This coming from a guy with 2 warnings and an infraction on his profile.
Gah, my reply was sarnath'd out by Shadowfox.
My best wishes to you and yours, Fox. As for the set idea, what kind of suggestions did you want? What kind of set are we making? A Core-style set, but with Coffee flavor?
As soon as I can get home I'll be available for PCL.
Thanks guys... I'm still trying to wrap my head completely around this. I just talked to the guy last wednesday... Right now, I'm just remembering all the good times we had together, and all the good things about him. I'll put the main content of this in a spoiler, since it's bound to be long. Feel free to read it if you want. I'm mainly writing it to get my thoughts down.
Adam - He was such a great guy. Kind at heart, and never afraid to share his opinion of something. I was first introduced to him during my second quarter at Wright State, in my first year. He, and several other people whom I soon came to know, were members of the video-gamer's community on campus. Basically, we just hung out in the WSU arcade (which was a big room with a just a few machines and a TV) all the time and played video games on the TV that was there.
Adam was the first friend I'd made who was disabled - he had a kind of degenerative condition that gradually stiffened his muscles so that they became unusable. He used a power wheelchair to get around, and still had good control over his hands, face, etc. He just couldn't, say, lift his hand to his face to scratch something, or put on a coat, or whatever. His upper arms didn't work quite well, but his lower arms were fine.
He and another friend (also in the VGC), John, had just started playing Magic at the time. Myself and a few others there were veterans, and so we had a lot of fun showing them the ropes and how to improve their decks. I think one of his first decks involved the Phantoms from Judgement. That particular deck was one of his only decks that stayed constant through the three years that I knew him - and it only got better over time. It had Phantom Nantuko, Centaur, Phantom Flock, Nomad, Nishoba and nifty stuff like Elephant Guide and Fleetfoot Panther.
About 3/4 of the way through that quarter, he and a few others, including John, went to the anime club. I had no idea what it was or where we were going, but I figured I'd go and see what it was since all my friends were going. I think that night we watched Vampire Hunter D - and, well, the rest pretty much writes itself concerning me. I started going all the time, eventually became the treasurer, and then the president.
Adam was hooked on Bebop and Gundam, mainly, although he liked a number of other shows and was a fan of anime in general. He followed Naruto and a little of Bleach, and liked pretty much any giant robot show. I loved sharing anime with him, and, as I mentioned earlier, one of my favorite memories is of the night we did an all-night Escaflowne marathon. Most recently, the last time I was up there we watched some Mushishi, Dokuro-chan, and some Rune Soldier, since one of my other friends was over that night as well.
He will be missed not only by me, but by a large group of people up at WSU, many of whom are also my friends, I'm sure. He played in a couple of different roleplaying campaigns, mostly World of Darkness campaigns, on campus, and for a long time in my third year I played in a campaign with him. He liked to play hack and slash, blow-everything-up-type characters, ones that required little thinking and where you got to roll lots of dice. That was how he had the most fun - doing rather than thinking. He was a Timmy at heart, and this showed in his Magic playing as well.
Ok. Having written that out, I feel worlds better. I'll probably add to it at various later points in time, but right now I feel content with it. I'm remembering a lot more of the good things about him now, and not focusing so much on the fact that he is gone. Thinking back, I guess I got to see him as close to his death as anyone could reasonably expect to, so in that way I think I can keep myself from having any regrets.
If anybody is interested in playing a game, PM me. I need to take my mind off of this for a while.
Note: If you missed it, the preceding post was in reference to this.
Wow, when I commented on keeping post counts, I hadn't realized that there was a debate going on over it. I don't care enough about it to want to change it if it's going to upset anyone.
Okay, here's a more detailed description of what I need:
1. Reprints (Cards that have a flavour that could be attributed to some part of MTGS -their names will not be altered).
2. Coffeeshifted cards (The same format as the PC timeshifted cards - different name and colour, same ability).
3. Regular cards (Cards from each regular about that person).
4. Art.
That is very sweet Stuffy :-( I hope when I pass I am as important to someone as Adam obviously...and important enough to have souch a nice eulogy.
@Fox : I sent some card ideas to Alacar that fit your Coffeeshifted idea. PM him and I am sure he will give them to you...they seem more suited for your set anyways.

Cost for Repeat is based off of Radiat. 1 less because it is two colours and not as strong overall (Though definately more abuseable I agree.)
A lot of cards from un-sets - especially from unglued - work fine enough within the rules; that set was a deposit for many ideas that would technically work but which were considered too offbeat for 'real' Magic, even if they worked fine within the rules. (Split cards and the Djinn cycle from Invasion were both originally in Unglued II, and those seem very tame today.)
