I will join from Trillian when I get home. I am looking forward to it.
Since this is in mIRC I suggest against using Trillian for that. The IRC applet for it plain sucks and adds on all sorts of extra code in my experience. Now if you haven't had any problems then by all means use it. Just thought I'd warn ahead of time just in case you haven't used it before.
If you have Firefox you can install the Chatzilla extension tho... It's pretty nice. I'll probably be using that.
As for the chat itself I won't be able to join till tomorrow afternoon EST. Hope to have a good time.

Dejiko (green hair, cat ears), Puchiko (short, orange cat ears), and Gemma (round yellow ball) are aliens from outer space. They land in Akihabara, the anime/gaming/electronics district of Tokyo, and since they need money for rent, Dejiko starts working at a store called Gamers. However, soon Rabi~en~Rose, aka Usada Hikaru (aka dice-head girl), shows up, and attempts to rival Dejiko... or something. Then some monsters show up, weird adventures start happening, Dejiko shoots lasers out of her eyes, Gemma falls in the river and soaks up all the water, and pretty much general chaos ensues.
Di Gi Charat is... well, unique. It's hilarious, really hilarious, odd, and, well, odd some more. People aren't drawn like people - everyone except for the main characters look like giant thumbs. The comedy is of the esoteric Japanese type, meaning it's oddly weird, yet hilarious at the same time. In addition to all this, Di Gi Charat manages to throw a lot of puns and references to gaming and otaku in, since the series takes place in Akiha, which is otaku headquarters for Tokyo. This is one of anime's quirkiest, funniest, and most head-scratch inducing comedies - as it should be, given it's made by Broccoli, the same people responsible for Galaxy Angel. It's very short, so see it if you can find it somewhere.
By "Omna time", he means U.S. Eastern time, which is the same as mine. By my watch, it's 4:27pm here now, so you can use that to figure out when that will be for you.

Well hello everyone i just got back from work as usual i am pretty tired. I had to work for the 2nd straight time as a courtesy clerk by myself i did get alot of stuff done at work though and still able to provide world class vons customer service pretty hard thing to do when your on your feet all day and working by yourself but i managed to be consistent throughout the day I worked 8 hours today. Well i am going to watch tv for awhile and i might play some video games. Ill be back later tonight and ill be on aol messenger tonight if anyone wants to chat see you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*
@mamelon: thanks mamelon i hope you had a good day at work as well! *hugs*
@alacar: i hope you had a good week so far and goodluck in your future college courses.
About the topic of gender roles. I try to not let them have power over me. Like I said before, as an example, I was carrying a Chococat wallet (The cat in my avatar), and was called out for it by some "manly" friends. I just told them that it took a "real man" to carry such a thing in the first place. Of course I was being cheeky. I don't give it much thought, but I have some general and uninformed ideas about it. I think that there are biological roots for some gender roles, but that society has grossly exagerated them, and placed uneeded cultural signifigance on them, and this is where potential problems lie. To me, the aspects of "man" and "woman" are the simple virtues and flaws of humanity, spread out into two preceved extremes. I find that in our best moments, we demonstrate the positive aspects of the "ideal" man and "ideal" woman, and in our worst moments the opposite.
This just an amusing anecdote, but it seemed relevent enough to share.
At my workplace, we have company uniforms, with some laxness as to what kinds of clothes we can wear with it, and different shirts, et al, for employees to choose from (black tees, purple tees, and black and purple button-ups for managers).
For one reason or another, only girls wear purple there, and few girls wear black except on occasion. I wear purple. This really isn't that strange, but my coworkers act as though it were funny or unusual. This young man I work with said "You're more manly than I am, since I would never wear purple. You must be very secure in your masculinity."
Needless to say, that cracked me up. I didn't hassle him, especially as it wasn't his fault, but I laughed when he told me that. I think it confused him.
I think I confuse him, as well as everyone else there. I don't intend to, but what are you gonna do?
Quote from Mr. Stuff »
What I find fascinating about all this is, it wasn't always this way. There have been historical periods in the past when in was proper, even desireable for a man to be delicate, emotional, and able to cry. Case in point, there have been many papers done on Jane Austen's "Emma" which make the book out to be an argument for the modern-day type of manly behavior. The book was published near the turn of the 19th century, in 1815. Emma's father, who is delicate, a picky eater, and stays at home all the time, is made out to be a man of the past, so to speak, when in fact his character traits used to be desirable in men. So to answer the question, yes, I don't think it's particularly healthy to force someone to conform to emotional expectations solely based on gender.
Of course, these were also oft regarded as signs of class and elevation. It seems that, at least in England, men used to be thought of as much more emotional, whereas women were seen as gravid and tranquil.
Quote from Faerie Lord »
In all seriousness, while not trying to sound insensitive, i would have personally checked for any bruises, but if i saw it was nothing special to call it so, i would have made sure that my child, boy or girl, would stop crying. Children do need to toughen up, its a rough world out there.
I completely disagree with that. I do not think it is teaching something good to teach a child that he or she shouldn't cry or get upset, especially since it will not toughen him or her up.
Stifling or quashing emotional reactions is not a good method of coping with emotion. There is a great stigma against tears or other shows of "weakness" in most of our cultures, and I don't think it's merited at all. In truth, crying is a healthy reaction. The key is to feel it, express it, discard it. Not bury it so no one can see, because even then, it's still there, and will remain there.
I don't believe parents should force children to repress their emotions. It may be that children need to learn that it's safer and and more convenient to cry in private, or when with family and friends. But that's not the same as the notion that you just shouldn't react to something that hurts, scares, or otherwise perturbs you. In fact, many adults need to "relearn" how to be comfortable with their feelings without squelching them or berating themselves for them.
@Danica: I'm glad your relationship with Ryan seems to be going more smoothly. Good for you. I wouldn't be too anxious about your insecure feelings if I could help it. Those are pretty natural to feel. I guess it just shows how important Ryan is to you. That can be troubling, but certainly not all bad, is it?

Regarding spammage: I agree, but I also like the fairly new multi-quote button. Allows us to make multiple response posts, which is the favored way to converse on the Coffeehouse. Just look at most of Mamelon's posts and you'll see what I mean.

Ugh I cannot wait for this day to finish so I can go home. I really had to drag myself out of bed this morning, and as a result I didn't get a chance to shave. I feel pretty hideous right now, and dirty. Facial hair makes me feel like I am dirty.
Little tidbit I learned, for the other Transgirls out there and even for any girl with facial hair problem or even some boys who just don't like 5:00 shadow.
Learned this from another Tgirl
Every morning fill your sink with warm water, then add some hydrogen peroxide. Wash your face (except eyebrows :p) thoroughly with it. If you shave, use this water as well. The effect is not immediate, but it will bleach your roots.

The shirt anecdote is awesome. I've been told similar myself actually.
I want to work where you work, I love purple. Lucky girl.
Weird how bad Itunes is at randomizing sometimes. I refill my Ipod every weekend. Last time It gave me an awesome mix of Malice Mizer, Dir en Grey and Nightwish with some decent random rave music filler. This week it gave me mostly Rave music and Jpop like SMAP and TOKIO. Ugh. While I like one or two of these types of songs dispersed in my playlist, getting 3 SMAPesque songs in a row or 5 Rave Trance bits back to back is awful. BAD ITUNES

Whee.. trading 4x Kird Ape for 3-4x Dark Confidant.. (I think it's 3).. Kird Ape's going for as low as $1.50, but confidant's $9 Thank god my friend doesn't know the money values. Still, our gaming group loves Kird Ape.
edit: well I'm off! Taa!

Which browser do you need to use to do that?

C) after it connects, type "/j #coffeehouse1year" and hit enter
if it is empty, then nobody is there yet. Stick around, people will show up.
