Well, I'm in a better mood, already. I just started up writing another short story. I have so many of them on my computer it's not even funny.
I wasn't depressed because I couldn't write, I couldn't write because I was depressed. To me, the fact that I'm motivated to write tells me that something has improved at least a little bit.
I still feel down, but I feel like I'm climbing back up again. Thank goodness, though, things are starting to look up a little bit more.

I can really see this card being much easier to use as a win condition than something like Battle of Wits. And I'm sure it's no accident that Atsuko, Minamo Researcher goes great with Azami.
One really neat thing about it is that you don't necessarily need mass card draw to win. If you use efficient milling cards, you can probably win in a fraction of the time, since putting cards into the graveyard is easier than getting them into your hand. Tidings gets you -4 cards in library and +3 cards in hand, but for the same price Traumatize can reduce your library by 15-20 cards. Of course, Traumatize is probably the less playable card, but there are other milling cards you might want to use anyway alongside card-drawers.
Not to mention how useful this could be in a deck that made use of dredge.
And Kevin is absolutely right, it certainly would help against Solidarity.
@Kevie: Goodnight, hun! Have sweet dreams!
@Mr. Stuff: Very impressive! It's interesting that people would speak a different language with their siblings or friends than with their parents.

I just wanted to make this short post saying that I've been noticing a lot of short, one-line posts recently. Please, must I repeat our no-spam policy? I know it's not spammy really, but try to condense your replies.
I just found out my insurance payments will be another $46.66 a month for 6 months.
Ugh, this is not fun. I have a really good Philosophy paper, but I can't figure out what it's exactly proving anymore. My first thesis didn't hold with the paper, the thesis I revised it to almost holds, but not quite. I'm trying to figure out the question I'm actually proving here.
@Myta:
Heh, I was just about to warn you against 1-line posting, considering you had a string of four going, but then you edited two more lines in. Goodnight, take care.
Thanks, mams. If there's one subject I like talking about it's anime linguistics. My vocabulary and writing style seem to change, actually, when I switch from "casual" mode to "scholarly" mode.
Goodnight, everybody. Oyasumi.
Edit @ Nai:
Care to discuss it? PM me if it's too long/involved for here.
@Nai: Maybe you could take it in the direction of questioning the dichotomy proposed between essence and existence (a priori ideas and a posteriori experience) to begin with. Perhaps you could explore how they are connected or affect each other?
@Mr. Stuff: I have noticed that many people have a certain topic (or topics) that they can really be cerebral about, even if they don't seem that way otherwise.
@Alacar: Sorry about your insurance payments. That's no fun.

Well, no, I'm done. I put it in my Blog if you care to look. It was really tight and good in my mind, but put on paper it seems like a very flimsy argument that doesn't have as much support as I thought it had. At least I'm not arguing the religious and metaphysical aspects of a Tool song, though. Someone else did that for this same project. It wasn't half well done. Someone else did the same thing for a song by a band "Acid Bath", which I had never heard of, but he did it damn well.
Some of the best papers out there are made from really off-the-wall concepts like that. Myself, I got an A in a college course off of a video-paper that I made, using Azumanga Daioh to illustrate concepts from TESOL. Take that, normalcy.
Normally I wouldn't have tried something like that, but the professor said we could do a video or other creative project if we didn't want to do a written paper, and I was just plain tired of writing papers. It's good that you got your paper done, though, Nai.
Well, keep in mind, the prompt was to write a paper showing the philosophy of something in pop culture. While Synesthesia isn't exactly pop culture, mental diseases are becoming really 'popular' lately, so Synesthesia is good enough. The fact that I can use it to prove that the world is partly Idealistic is icing on the cake. Unfortunately, my premises are not as strong as I'd like them to be.
Oh man, I'm still alive? My boss berated me about sending links instead of telling it to her straight. Why doesn't she just click it so that she gets it straight? So I just went out to eat lunch, and later I'm watching a movie to escape the heat of summer. Still working, but foruming stops me from going crazy, hence I post like a madman.
How's everyone so far?
@Mr. Stuff: Sorry for the one liner replies, will try my best to not the thread. I've gotten two warnings and an infraction last week and I don't want to add more.
I'd like to share something I saw earlier today with all of you. Earlier today I saw a young boy, no more than six years old, stumble and fall flat on his face. Naturally he started crying, seeing as how his face was scratched up. It was nothing serious, but noticeable from where I was standing, roughly twenty feet away.
His parents were with him, or at least I assume that's who they were. The mother started checking to see that he wasn't injured too badly. There was some bleeding, but even I could tell it didn't look that bad. The bleeding was around his nose area, I believe, and there was a scratch on his chin, I think.
The father was another issue entirely. He started telling the kid to 'Stop whining' and 'toughen up'. He didn't bother checking the boy's injury, nor did he even try to calm him down. He acted as if the child was only trying to get attention. Now, the kid was not whining excessively, but he was sniffling because he was hurt and scared. I can imagine that falling on his face, on a concrete sidewalk, no less, would be startling and probably painful.
So I started thinking. Would the parents have done the same thing had it been a girl? I know children are prone to seek attention, especially at that age, but I felt that he was justified in crying.
Many people are up in arms about the things women are expected to do. Marriage, makeup, body image issues. I'm not making light of these problems, not at all. I respect that society places many unreasonable demands on women, especially young women.
But what about men? What about what guys are expected to do? It seems, at least to me, that society rejects men who are aware of their emotions and express them. I see that sometimes, the world expects men to be sex-starved, hedonistic idiots who's only concern is their next source of stimulation.
I know of many people who mock men who do not fit this stereotype. Where I live a man who does not drink, smoke, or watch sports is considered less of a man.
Does anyone else share my opinion? What do the rest of you think?

I have to agree on this. I mean, who cares if a guy shares his feelings to someone else? That's not gay, that's a real man. A real man should be open to everyone around him. Nothing makes less of any man... the world just makes us think that way.
I very much agree with your opinion. I hate gender roles in their entirety, simply because it leaves you no option to be your own individual. You are who you are, regardless of your gender. You shouldn't be expected to be anything but yourself.
Go Nai! That's true. You are who you are. You just have to be true to your heart.
Actually, here in the Philippines, if the kid is hurt, regardless of gender, the parents really do everything to make them feel better. I like your thoughts about that, Psychoburner. Not too many people notice that these days.
CCR, you really need to remember to add some more content to your posts. They seem really spammy, to be completely honest. Then again, my perception of spammy has been completely labeled as wrong, so who am I to talk?

@PB: You should try being the daughter of an alcoholic divorcee who grew up with 3 older brothers and an abusive father. You get the (worst) of both worlds. Then at 12 you have to "shape up so you won't be fat and sloppy cuz what guy is gonna marry a tomboy" and "do something with your hair, you look like a mental patient". Not to mention, "your not leaving the house dressed like that, you'll get raped and deserve it".

@kraj's card:Yeah whenever i play with any blue control related deck against solidarity I usually survive long enough to make it to the mid to late game but usually a competent solidarity beats me about half of the time though but with kraj's card you probably could win somewhat more then half of the time which is still really good. Plus they usually will aim for meddling mages anyway which is ran in every blue related deck pretty much all of the time these days in legacy either in the board or the main. Like if i played 50 games against solidarity with my uw control i probably would win around 25-28 games but with kraj's card i might win 33-37 games depending on the luck of the draw and the playskill of the solidarity player that is it'll take some testing but thats my logic behind the matchup with kraj's card.
In general though it seems that Kraj's card is a good card and very innovative in my opinion.

Oh, men definitely have unrealistic standards forced on them. In society there exists a polarized gender ideal, and because of this there are definitions of masculinity and femininity that are extreme, rigid, and unrealistic that people are intended to swallow. And the extreme instances aren't even the only problem - typically, a good deal of people (especially children) are strongly impressioned by peer pressure and their parents, and try to change their personalities to fit one-size-fits-all stereotypes. Even in ways that are generally neutral, being forced or manipulated by shame and ostracism is still dehumanizing and immoral.
Part of it also has to do with cultural intolerance of what is perceived to be weakness (which can include any emotion that's not anger). This intolerance is especially stringent when levied against males, who are required to have more "strength" to begin with. People are treated very differently because of their gender, even in the most relaxed and accepting of communities.
And this intolerance isn't one-way. Well, for one, gender normativism isn't one way, but there are some matters which every gets to face. Many parents or other figures put just as much pressure on girls to purge themselves of unaccepted dependencies and flaws (read: basic human emotions and needs), and yet still expect them to embody the prescribed feminine image of beauty, grace, and virtue. And some of us stand to suffer, quite directly, from both misogyny and misandry. It becomes clear just how heinous the scenario is, not just for one group of people, but the whole shebang.

At the same time I want to make it ok for the kid to cry if he/she broke a bone or scraped his knee/shin. I hope that was as clear as I hoped it to be.
On a gender-related note, I think a few of you MAY enjoy this:

Note: Above is video from The Daily Show from last night so if you saw it already you may wanna skip it. I thought it was pretty funny tho.
