Hi SnoopDoggAtog, pleased to meet you. Omna15 has told me about you. Goodmorning/goodevening. She told me youre that wise woman from Minnesota..:)
lol, was supposed to work here a year and then go back to Mpls but got stuck in a rut working for the govt and now I'm here for the third consecutive year going on four...:/ I am so homesick it's not funny. There orta be a support group for northerners stuck working in the southeast...I have a disproportionate number of dreams where I'm back at home or with my parents in Seattle and wake up to find that it's not true...
How's everyone doing? I'm fine. I'm still trying to figure out my plans for the day.
As for a Coffeehouse chat, I've never been to one so somebody'd have to give me info as to how to do it. I've vanished for long periods of before, but I've been here nearly since the beginning, even if I haven't been here the whole time.

DAMNIT: I should never have to shred my own character sheet in frustration.
How's everyone doing? I'm fine. I'm still trying to figure out my plans for the day.
I'm a bit sick actually. Can't seem to keep much food down lately cause I've had this really bad sharp pain in my stomach the past few days. Could be an ulcer. That sure would suck.
Big is on right now. One of my favorite movies of all time. So back to that.
sharp pain? Can't keep anything down? That could be an ulcer, but there are other possibilities. If your pain is originating at the lower-right side of your abdomen, there is a possible cause. One possibility could be appendicitis, I'd look it up and make sure that's not what's wrong. A fever is also commonly found with it. I had my appendix removed and it nearly burst. Appendicitis is easily dealt with through a fairly routine surgery, but only if caught. If it is allowed to continue, it would likely burst, something that is very dangerous and possibly fatal.
I already know my plans for today. Relax, and then go to work. I found out my hours for this week and they aren't too bad. Today and Thursday is 2-9 and Monday and Friday is 3-9. Yeah, I'm closing and I'll probably be by myself again, but it wasn't so bad when I had to do it before, so it should be all good.
I'm glad I get more than 2 days off this week and I'm also glad I'm not working 5 days in a row. Though my check for last week should be pretty good. I might finally be able to pick up a DS!
@buzz: wow thats a pretty good schedule. Unfortunetly for me i have to wake up at 5am 3 days next week to go to work for 8 hours straight and get a lunch break of course. Well have a good day at work buzz and talk to you later.
@ninja: oh dear you should get it checked out as soon as possible and id rather take care of it before it gets worse. I hope you will feel better soon. *hugs*
@physchoburner: Well have a good day and don't plan too hard
@starr: I have a sister that lives up in seattle i think she is working at a medical office or something. Seattle is a pretty big place to start any type of medical career there and i heard university of washington as a pretty legitimate medical school there. Well dont work too hard starr and i hope you get to take it easy when you can.
@hunter: have a good night and sleep well!
@littledragon: serves littledragon a cup of ginseng green tea as well and gives dragon a strawberry glazed donut.
@ungenni: hehe i want to see CLAMP now it sounds great and its been a pretty long time since i saw or read about X/1999 probably more then 8 years. Well goodluck with your exams and best wishes to you always ungenni!
Well i think im going to play some video games and have some lunch in a little while. Ill be back later this late afternoon or tonight though so see you all soon! Take care and have a great sunday everyone! *hugs and blows kisses*
Love,
Cecilia

CLAMP is actually an all female animation studio. They are responsible for such greats as Chobits, XXXHolic, Miyuki-chan in Wonderland, Tsubasa Chronicle, X, and Card Captor Sakura, to name a few.
Coffeehouse chat, eh? I could do it Thursday after 2:00pm, or Friday after 5:30pm, U.S. Eastern time. Wednesday, I'm free all day.
Have fun in Greece, Little Dragon. I like the banner, btw.
Poll for this week's contest is up, but the contest for the new week isn't yet. I think this week is either an animated banner or a wallpaper, I can't remember. Regardless, while I'm waiting on that, I'm off to check animesuki for new stuff. I"ll check back later.
Its time for Legacy of the week! This week features 4-color landstill. For a long while now landstill has popped up every now and then in any legacy metagame and it usually performs pretty well on average with few people playing with the deck. Landstill is one of those decks you have to be a good pilote with or it won't do well at all in any given tournament.
Here is 4-color landstill designed by Nick trudeau who has piloted the deck to top 8 in 3 big legacy events recently.
Force of will: The best counterspell in legacy of course and being able to play it for free to counter almost any spell nets you great card advantage against any legacy deck.
Counterspell: Solid all-around counterspell.
Brainstorm: The best utility card draw spell that blue has today. Highly recommended to play a fetchland first then cast a brainstorm and then put 2 unwanted cards on top of your library then activate the fetchland to shuffle unwanted cards away.
Standstill: Probably one of the best cards in this deck obviously. Able to standstill then play this deck's threats in the form of lands made this deck a big threat for years in the format.
Fact or fiction: This card draw spell is a must in any blue control deck. Probably the only spell in this deck that can swing games into your favor when if it is resolved.
Stifle: This is another great utility card that blue has to offer. Able to counter wastelands that aim for your non basic lands is a big tempo advantage card. Also it can counter goblin ringleader's trigger ability which alone can win you goblin matches.
Pernicous Deed: The best universal card board control sweeper in magic in my opinon. Plus its immune to naturalize/disenchant and can be immune to pithing needle if you activate deed in response to them resolving a pithing needle to play.
Swords to plowshares: The best creature removal in the game of magic peroid.
Diabolic Edict: An excellent removal card against reanimator decks and also especially against nimble mongoose which is untargetable in threshold gro decks.
Disenchant: Able to destroy pithing needles on deed and removing aether vials(goblins and fish) can win you games that you shouldn't have.
Crucible of worlds: Pretty much a must in this deck. Able to bring back your manlands from the dead after being killed by wasteland and other removal can help you win alot of games. Also the ability to keep recuring wasteland and killing off your opponent's nonbasic manabase(like threshold) can pretty much win games by itself. You can also keep using your fetchlands repeatedly to fetch for lands needed to smooth out your manabase and also thinning your deck to minimize your dead draws can also help you win matches.
Flooded strand: Fetches a plains, tropical island, tundra, and a underground sea to stabalize your manabase early and also to thin out your deck to minimize dead draws later in the match.
Mishra factory: Part of the decks namesake.
Nantuko Monastery: Part of the decks namesake and can block virtually any creature that your opponent throws at you and survive.
Wasteland: Destroying non-basic lands that your opponent controls is a tempo loss for them.
Plains: Dodges non-basic land hate.
Sideboard Card Choices:
Blue elemental blast: Great against goblins and burn and other red related decks like UGR threshold and red death. Also i board these in against solidarity and iggy pop just to pitch to force of will when needed because you need all of the disruption you can get to stop any combo deck in the format.
Engineered Plague: Main purpose is to use plague against goblins but using it against decks like Elf stax isnt a bad plan either.
Meddling Mage: Can single handly win you games against solidarity and iggy pop depending on what you name of course. Plus it adds on the damaging clock.
Duress: Helps versus any combo deck in the format. Also can help against pikula and other control decks as well.
Stay tuned until next week hopefully(depending if i have time or not) for another exciting legacy deck! I hope you all enjoyed the read. See you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone*
Thanks for the decklist, ceci. As usual your insight into the deck and its metagame shows that you play at a high level and prepare your article well in advance. (Nice for those of us who have to go grind into a GP on very short notice.)
Any thoughts of being at GP Columbus this year? I have a 10 percent chance of getting a seat in Paul Lynch's car to road-trip it up there.
Also, I would love ot find work in Seattle but it's very competitive and not cheap to live there. My parents are both broke so can't help much with the rent etc.
Going to bed soon because tomorrow is the first and last day I get to work on my poster presentation for our clinical lab.
The Coffeehouse has been kinda dead tonight. Must be 'cause it's Sunday.
I'm not going to the GP, since I don't play constructed, really, but I will be going to the prerelease in Columbus next weekend. Hope you get to go to the GP, Snoop.
I got my taxes done, finally, so that's cause for minor celebration for me. I think I'll celebrate by going home and sleeping. I need it, and I have work in the morning tomorrow.
I have a bit of a story for once. Today, for my church's senior high night, I was one of the only two people there. So my youth paster took us to McDonalds. While I was there, I saw my friend Adam (LordShesshomaru, when he used to post here actually) and he told me one of my friends got in an accident on the way home from a concert last night. He's in the hospital for at least a week with a gash in the side of his head. His twin brother walked away from the accident without a scratch at least.
I'm sure he hadn't had any alcohal, he's only 16 or 17 and was at a concert at a small club that carded. Plus the concert was being run by his older brother (who's in his first year at college). I knew his brother and he'd never let people underage drink. Even though they're all into death metal ;), Beating steriotypes FTW :p!
Cecilia: Your legacy of the weeks always make me think I need to play legacy or something :p.
LittleDragon: If you have time to read this, have fun on your trip. I think Greece would be a fun place to visit. (anyone makes a pun about stains and I'll shoot you. [Photon taught me how to hit people over the internet, believe me :p].)
Not so happy over here. Really spent lately due to lack of sleep. Had to wake my ass up early this morning to grab something for my father. This after I get barely 3-4 hours sleep thanks to the upstairs neighbors' arguing. And trust me the cops have been called before on this and nothing every happens with it.
Otherwise pretty much blah-ish day here aside from the weather - more snow where I'm at. I can't believe how late into the year this stuff is falling here. I mean the flooding south of here is far worse but it still doesn't make me happy to see the stuff fall at this late a point.
@Little D: Have fun in Greece!
@Kevin: Landstill 4ever! Admittedly I dislike the deck for my playing style but it never seems to go away - I like decks like that in some ways.
@CCR: Welcome!
@Snoop: Here's to hopin you get to go about a month from now. Since that's not too far away do you have any idea of what deck you're bringing if you do go? I mean you don't have to reveal that here since so many browse here but just thought I'd ask out of curiosity.
Ninja Edit: @KK: Beating stereotypes indeed! Yay! Still sucks about the accident tho... but it seems things will be OK in the end so it's good to hear that.
Hey everyone. I got back from the midwest last night at midnight. Sorry I haven't posted since then. I've had a bunch of work to do and today was my brother's birthday so I had to go shopping and celebrate with the family and everything. So anyway, I hope everyone had a nice weekend and good luck for Monday. I know I'll need it.
Greetings my friends. *Shaharazad steps up to the plate and orders a earl grey with all the grace of yesteryears best home-run hitters.* The crowd marvels as Sha cinches the deal by paying before droping two silver dollars into the tip jar.
I've been slightly sick. We are having the most bizzare weather in my little corner of the world. Warm with cold winds, hot with rainstorms, freezing cold at times.
Thanks for the great deck tech Cecilia. I do so love legacy. I love playing in the format, but I never get the chance to. I'm personally in love with my own version of :symb::symw::symu: fish, and I like Iggy Pop as well. I'm so gald that I bought my force of will's when I did. It was right after the first extended rotation, and the price dropped drastically. I bought a playset on ebay for around 20 dollars if I remember correctly.
@snoop: Your welcome and i find it fun to talk about every legacy deck i want to in the coffeehouse. i doubt ill be able to go to GP columbus unfortunetly mostly because i have work and so i have to stay on the west coast. I believe every deck that i posted so far can probably do really well at GP columbus if piloted right like coffee-finement, 4-color landstill, and funkbrew. Thank you for the awesome compliment starr its greatly appreciated!
@crimson: Yep landstill 4ever is quite correct ever since i talked to you on aol messenger i remember talking about landstill and that was like 2 years ago lol.
@koolkoal: You should give legacy a try sometime and the main purpose of my legacy of the weeks is to show that legacy isnt as intimitading as alot of people might think.
@shaharazad: Oh is your version of fish have any similarities to hanni fish? aww that sounds disappointing that you dont get a chance to play legacy because you seem like you could be a real good player in legacy and same with you starr and everybody else in the coffeehouse you never know unless you give the format a try.
@hunter: goodluck at your tournament!
Well i am going to get going for awhile ill be on tommorrow though. Have a great night everyone and if anyone wants to speak to me ill be on aol messenger my screen name on there is Liufamily2. See you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone* Have a great week starting from tommorrow everyone!

I'm not sure what hanni fish is. I don't have a deep knowledge of the metagame. I just try to keep solidarity, thresh and gobbos in mind when designing. Like I said, I never have the opportunity to play legacy. The nearest legacy tournies are hundreds of miles away. My fish deck is something that I love having, incase I ever get to actually play in a tourney, but I also just love it to play with friends on occasion. Right now I have 4 Dark Confidant, 4 Meddling Mage, 3 Jotun Grunt, 3 Serra Avenger and 1 Shadowmage Infiltrator as my creature base. I would love to squeeze in some voidmage prodigy as well, but it's a tight fit as you can imagine.

Yeah from what your telling me seems similar to hanni fish the add on of serra avengers and an shadowmage infiltrator is a nice touch especially in the mid to late game and equipping them with a sword of fire and ice and sometimes a umezawa's jitte as well can often swing games into your favor. Although im pretty happy and impressed that you came up with your very own fish list with some extensive playtesting probably. I can show you a list of hanni fish later this week if your interested in the coffeehouse.
Ahw man! Just won 2 booster packs...My sideboard was wrong..There were alot of G/B dredge guys...I've expected Dralnu and Dstorm..Oh well atleast I've got a damnation and my 4th wild pair from the packs.
I'm awake at this late hour. I have my next two Game of the Weeks lined up, and I'll be all caught up. The final section of the Legend of Zelda set, and then another which I just beat.
Here's a question for all true gamers here: have you ever attempted to do an ODINS (one day in no saves) of an RPG, or a speed run of any other game?
ODINS are supposed to be hard for many games. Some games, like FFX, seem built for them with a very linear storyline that tends to level as you do. But I know an RPG like Tales of Symphonia would be near impossible to do.
Speed runs are just that: seeing how fast you can beat a game from start to finish of their main storyline. These are possibly for most every game, though they might be a bit boring. I remember seeing the Morrowind speed run, the one done in around 9 minutes using little to no cheats, and having my jaw drop. (Almost wrote draw jop there). Unfortunately, Speed runs are also very hard to do as you have to plan your route and then practice, practice, practice. It's interesting to look at.
Ah, forgot to add this in. I have a new entry in my blog about culture-copying. Might be an interesting read. It's only short because I had a writing limit for my class.
I've never done that myself Nai, but I have done something similar. On Diablo 2, there is an option to make a hardcore character. If you die on this character, the game is over, no matter how much time you've poured into it. That's as close as I've been to ODINS though.
@Nai: Never done an ODIN before, tried with metroid prime and got bored... I like saving because i have a short attention span normally with games, usually no longer than 4-5 hours, and I'm not too terribly keen on rushing through a game either.
About that paper deal, thats brilliant. Its very true, I've noticed this myself, wasn't sure what to call it, and also noticed this IN myself, although the culture I latched onto wasn't so much a place as a time. I'm an 80's Girl; Go NEW WAVE (and also a bit of Japanese culture, because they have the best SciFi and Romance stuff IMO ^_~)
Edit: anyone ever have a time they did something, and couldn't remember if they did it, or just imagined doing it?

Go go New Wave!
It's definatly happens to me. I'm horrible about having a vivid dream, and then thinking it really happened. Really bizzare, but often enjoyable.
I was thinking of making my own custom set, and wanted to ask everyones opinion of this card:
Music of the Spheres :2mana::symu::symu: Enchantment Whenever Music of the Spheres comes into play, put two song counters on each creature. Creatures with song counters do not untap. During each players upkeep, that player removes one song counter from each creature he or she controls. Whenever there are no song counters in play, sacrifice music of the spheres. Rare
It's too clunky. I was trying to make it very thematic, but it is difficult to pull off with simplicity. How about the cost? Is it fair? Lastly, is there a way to simplify it, so it has less text.
Edit: Another posibility could be:
Music of the Spheres :2mana::symu::symu: Sorcery Put two song counters on any number of target creatures. Creatures with song counters do not untap. At the begining of each players upkeep, that player removes a song counter from each creature he or she controls. Rare
time for lunch yo. Much work to be done.
How's everyone doing? I'm fine. I'm still trying to figure out my plans for the day.

I'm glad I get more than 2 days off this week and I'm also glad I'm not working 5 days in a row. Though my check for last week should be pretty good. I might finally be able to pick up a DS!
Windmills do not work that way!

It was right after the first extended rotation, and the price dropped drastically. I bought a playset on ebay for around 20 dollars if I remember correctly.
If only I could get so lucky with sea drake.
I've been reliving my childhood. I found my old, favorite rpg, Breath of Fire.
Here's my MGA deck that I will use.
2 Mouth of Ronom
1 Pendelhaven
16 snow covered forest
4 llanowar elves
4 birds of paradise
4 scryb ranger
3 spectral force
4 ohran viper
3 giant solifuge
3 groundbreaker
2 timbermare
4 stonewood invocation
4 might of old krosa
1 loxodon warhammer
3 krosan grip
3 utopia vow
3 chameleon blur
3 avoid fate
3 leyline of lifeforce
That's it...wish me luck!(see me also on MGA thread later on for results);)

@hunter: goodluck at your tournament!

See you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses*
Love,
Cecilia

My helpdesk should you need me.
Music of the Spheres :2mana::symu::symu:
Enchantment
Whenever Music of the Spheres comes into play, put two song counters on each creature.
Music of the Spheres :2mana::symu::symu:
Sorcery
Put two song counters on any number of target creatures. Creatures with song counters do not untap. At the begining of each players upkeep, that player removes a song counter from each creature he or she controls.
Rare
This looks much more streamlined.
