I picked up a fantastic new album. 23 by the band Blonde Redhead. I love this stuff. The music is very lush and pretty with a sorrowfull feel to it while still managing an upbeat tempo. The lead singer, Kazu Makino, has this etherial voice that is just dripping with subtle sexuality and elegance. Overall, the feel is very exotic and urban, without sounding predictible or inorganic. If I was given the chance to make my own anime, I would try to secure them for the soundtrack, if that helps.
Highly recomended my friends. For real. If you hunger for something a little different, yet completly tastefull, try this album.
My friend, your recommendation is both juicy and condign. I like how they have a song called "Hated Because of Great Qualities" and another song called "Loved Despite Many Faults."
I really like "Elephant Woman", among what I've heard. Very interesting sound. Ethereal, ectophilic, the entire band. It actually sounds a bit like Björk, only . . . more intelligible.
I want to hear more of this band, I think.

@Mamelon: I know it's kind of late, but yeah, I'm doing well, thanks for asking. I hope you are doing better now also; I know you were kind of depressed for a while before. Anyway, you have a good night also.
Thanks, bubby. That's kind of you. Every day is just hard. I'm sure we all know what that feels like.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.

I hope you do Mamelon. I love them. I just suggest avoiding their first, truly independant works. It's extremely experimental and I don't feel they had found their voice yet.
I want to say, I feel very sad and moved right now. I just found out that one of the most important voices while I was growing up and into young adulthood, Kurt Vonnegut, has passed away.
This is what I posted about him.

"What? No."
That's exactly what I vocally said when I saw the header of this post, and it is not my habit to speak my thoughts aloud when alone.
This man was such a part of my life while growing up, his books and words were vital to me and it felt like he was almost my friend, in that sense that you sometimes get connected to the thoughts of your favorite writers. Vonnegut was as much a teacher and humanitarian, and he touched so many peoples lives throughout the scope of his work.
I have to admit, I am moved by this. I'm not that emotional of a person and I had to choke back a tear.
I only regret that I had a chance to meet him, but was unable to go. He is one of those people who I really wanted to shake his hand and say "thank you" to.
So, Thanks Kurt.
I believe that he is the first of my artistic heroes to die. Almost feels like I lost a friend, you know? I'm kindof crying actually.
Good morning. I'd like a cup of Kopi Luwak please.
In case you dont know (and I posted this in the [T]s thread, but felt I should spread the "love" around.)
The Luwak is a small catlike mongoose. It eats whole coffee fruit and then poops out the coffee bean! This is harvested, cleaned, cleaned again and then lightly roasted so as to preserve the delicate flavors, and that is what Kopi Luwak is. Extrordinarlly rare and apparently, it's the most amazing tasting coffee. The digestion process of this little Mongoose apparently takes all bitterness out of the coffee and somehow changes the bean chemically.
Here is a description of it.
The flavor is strong and complex, but without the bitterness usually associated with coffees that are this rich. There is a pleasant earthy flavor I cannot quite place. I can honestly say it stands apart from every other coffee I’ve ever had. The bouquet has a lot to do with the flavor of this coffee. While I’m at a loss to describe it, it is very plesant and quite unusual. I’m trying it black now, and even in the absence of sugar there is not even a hint of bitterness. The aftertaste dissipates quickly much like a pure Hawaiian Kona. It’s a smooth finish with a slight nuttiness to it. The perfect finish to the perfect cup. Both with cream and sugar, as well as black this is an outstanding cup of coffee.
Oh boy, I thought I fell down the rabbit-hole for sure when I saw my picky lady cat actually eat decent amounts of her new prescription diet. Now I tune into the Coffeehouse to see everyone sitting around watching Shahra drink poop.
@strongbad: thanks strongbad for the support. Yeah im feeling alot better posting on my cecilia gimmick. Well have a fun and safe vacation and enjoy it while it lasts.
@mamelon: Im very glad your feeling alot better as well. I am also glad you had a great day yesterday. Have a great one today and enjoy your weekend as well! *hugs* Ill be always here for you if you want to talk.
Well I am going to get ready for work in about 10 minutes. I have a 7 hour shift today at work and hopefully i wont be the only courtesy clerk there again lol but if i am then ill just keep up with my consistency of working hard. I wish everyone to have a good day today and ill see you all later tonight when i get back from work. I also though i would never say this again but I'm SO happy tommorrow is FRIDAY! Take care everyone! *hugs and blows kisses*

@Danica: I would recommend the following DS games for your enjoyment.
- New Super Mario Bros.
- Final Fantasy 3 (although it's very short and you probably won't wanna play it through more than twice...)
- Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
- COOKING MAMA OMG
- Contact (also very short, but much more engaging and innovative)
- Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
- Super Princess Peach
- Trauma Center
- Dragon Quest IX whenever it comes out BUY IT OR FACE THE PANINI PRESS
Yes. There are more, but I haven't played them so I honestly couldn't say. And whatever you do, don't buy Children of Mana. Eew.
Also, Dragon Quest Swords is unfortunately not for the DS. It's going to be for the Wii...probably released way before I could own one...*depressed*
I started a new game of FF12. I should probably be cutting or something by now.
I highly recommend Portrait of Ruin to anyone who even remotely likes Castlevania. It's probably my favorite Castelvania game, even beating out Rondo of Blood. I enjoy the two-person party element and combat is really fun. Everything runs really smoothly and is just a delight to play. Also, co-op mode. I'd love to play that some time, but I don't know anyone else who owns the game O_o;;
SO I ran into another old friend last night who is going to GP Columbus and says he will save me a seat if I want to go road tripping there. Also he says there will be an official Legacy season with PTs, PTQs, and feeders in the near future. I'm fired up.
Off to a meeting with my old boss over some statistics...woot
Welcome back, Shadow! I'm sorry to hear about that. I've never had anything like that ever happen, but I can't imagine it being fun by any means.
Anyway, I'm trying to relax a little bit before heading to work. I finally get a few days off after today! I'll be up for PCL games later tonight, so let me know if you want to play.
@Ether: I notice a game missing on your list. Diddy Kong Racing! I'm sooooo picking that up when I get a DS. I loved playing that game on the n64 way back when. Fantastic racing game.

2. Yes, but I try to make time each day to torment you.
Well (knock on wood), I just had a pretty good week at work. Things went well, everything got done without a lot of hassle, and finally having someone reliable to work the shift after mine means I can go through a week without having to basically do 6 days worth of work in 3 days just to make sure things actually get done.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
Hey guys. Just dropping in to say hi. I kind of skimmed through the pages I missed, but the main reason I am on right now is to get my FCC card in before the deadline tomorrow. Luckily, the hotel I'm at has wireless internet.
I'll attach my FCC card, if anyone cares. It's kind of weird, but I think the flavor works okay.
I like your card SB. Its very interesting as usual and I'm sure you will move on to the next round. What do you think of my card?
Sadly, that doesn't quite do justice to what 4kids would do to it. They'd have to give it a new theme song for one, one with lots of rapping and people trying to sound cool. Also, it would now be set in America, because Britain is too far away for their target audience. We'd also have to cut out any religious references - any scenes with a cross, or any mention of Protestants or Catholics would have to be digitally edited out by that one guy Bob they have who's sort of good with Photoshop. And if 4kids is reading, I merrily wish you that demons from several hells feast upon your entrails in the afterworld. Cheers.
I just got back from La Camargue in the far south of France - it was excellent. The weather hot, the food perfect, and the surroundings full. Sadly, on the penultimate day, my family and I were out at the very edge of a marshland (no civilisation for miles) and we came back from watching flamingos to find...the hired car had been broken into, my money, and my Mum and Grandmother's handbags stolen. Fools that we were for leaving them, but equally the hire car really should have been fitted with an alarm, the bags were completely hidden and we were in the least suspect place in France. Possibly. Anyhoo, we cancelled the cards and sorted out temporary passports, but my belief in the good of human nature was rather shaken. Mainly because of the actual uncaring and viciousness of the crime, but also because the thieves must have followed us and known we were a family with very old and very young people. It sickens me.
Anyway, the holiday was not ruined (we wouldn't let them do that to us), and we ended up having a good time notheless. I have some incredible photography to show you all (courtesy of my new digi-cam), but it will have to wait until I get some time to upload all the photos.
Aww. Well, at least you had a good time except for that one event, and I look forward to seeing your photography. At least the camera was safe, eh? I'm always afraid that my car will get broken into up at WSU - sorry that it happened to you in a much less likely place.
As for me, I got back from WSU yesterday at 2:30am in the morning. I took a blanket and pillow with me in my car today when I went to work, and after work, I slept for FOUR HOURS! In my car! In the parking lot! Wow, I was tired.
Still, I had an awesome time yesterday, watching the first episodes of Claymore and Darker than Black, as well as Murder Princess, some Red Garden, and lots of crazy short films I downloaded by Studio 4*C. At club, we're still watching Noir, Slayers, and Abenobashi.
I realized once I was up there, though, that I had totally forgotten about AotW! Whoops. I'll put that up later tonight, since I'll be busy all day tomorrow with work. Look for it soon.
Now I'm trying to decide if I should get something to eat... or if I should start my homework... I've been putting off this assignment most of the week.. which is bad..
I've been a bit distracted by other things since, I suppose..

I'm very happy you all are enjoying them, I usually don't make recomendations so I was a little worried. They are actually from NYC, though the drummer and bass player are twin brothers originally from Italy.
Elephant woman is the song that inspired my anime idea. It would be the intro song.
I just emailed Adult Swim, requesting an epitaph for Kurt Vonnegut in one of their bumps. I'm actually a little suprised the coffee house doesn't have any of his readers. Coffee junkies are notorious Vonnegut fans.

Oh, I haven't brought it up before. I just think it's long past due for an american anime of respectable quality. I was inspired by hearing that song, thats why I mentioned it. My idea is a little unfocused yet, and far to unrefined to go into details.
Well, I apologize that I don't know who Vonnegut is. I guess I need to get out more. Besides, I don't actually drink coffee, at least not very often anyway.
It's snowing outside, it's also April. If it weren't for my currenty location, the paradox would be seriously hurting my brain...

Official Character Sheet Shredder of DAMNIT
DAMNIT: I should never have to shred my own character sheet in frustration.
I'm feeling lazy this week, and this is one of the best summaries I've seen on anidb, so here's a little copy and paste for the description:
Amatsu Tadahiro is a highschool student who inherits the blood of the Saniwa, and because of that he always being targeted by evil spirits. However, he hasn't the slightest clue why his body is attracting those evil spirits. In order to protect Amatsu Tadahiro and the town from evil spirits, the shrine maiden committee is formed. Three Hieda sisters plus a couple more girls from highschool joined the shrine maiden committee. But can they fight against the evil spirits led by Ayatachi Michimune? And what about the growing love between Yuzu and Tadahiro?
Asagiri no Miko's plot, although it sounds simple enough at first, actually grows to be very complex, and carries you right along with it. It's one of the first anime that ever made me cry, come to think of it. It has a great mix of comedy, action, and endearing affection that make it a very fun watch. The girls are not one dimensional - their characters grow and change throughout the series, as does the prowess of their spiritual attacks. Asagiri no Miko seems to have that "just right" mix of characters and personalities that makes Azumanga Daioh so great to watch. Everyone clicks together, and at the same time adds something different to the team.
This is a "sleeper" anime, in my opinion. It's really very good, but not a whole lot of people have heard of it. If you give it a shot, I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Great plot, great action, and a little bit of comedy and romance thrown in there for good measure.
Well, the temperature here today was 25 degrees C and it is supposed to be snowing tonight... Goes to check.. Yup.... Go figure I suppose.
Bit disappointed, the Jays lost to the Tigers 5-4 this evening.... Still top of the ALE.
Edit: Danica! You still didn't start it? ¬.¬ Frown at you ¬.¬
Ah, don't worry. The Yankees will get there soon enough. They're just getting warmed up ;).

Hmm, I'm not sure about your card; I can't say I love it. I guess the flavor text kind of makes the card make a little sense, but still, red and white is a little random flavorwise, although I know you needed to use it. I would almost have actually just hosed red and made the card cheaper, because fire burning down a forest makes a lot of sense I think. In addition, preventing damage and countering spells aren't really green, despite what they did in PC. The card seems more WU to me. I don't know if you will get this feedback in the next 46 minutes, but I think you still have a chance of getting by without it. It is by no means a bad card, and I think it's balanced.
@Cecilia: I'm glad you're doing well :).
@Shadowfox: Sorry about the stolen luggage, that sounds horrible. I'm glad you had a nice trip though. I've never been to France actually; when my family and I went to Europe, we went to England, Spain, and Italy. Anyway, welcome back!!
@Omna: I know how you feel. I'm getting really bad with homework and stuff. I seriously cannot concentrate for more than an hour without getting distracted with something else. Good luck though, I'm sure you will be fine.
FREE! I'm finally free! I get to rest and relax for the next 2 days at the least.
So being, I'm up for a PCL game if anyone else is. I want to play some more games and see if I can get more packs for better cards. Or switch my deck entirely.
I'm going to enjoy my dinner, but feel free to IM/PM me.
Well, to a typical Japanese, no. The word Anime literally is an abbreviation of the word "animation" (A loanword from english) and is interchangable.
Here is wiki's entry "In Japan, the term does not specify an animation's nation of origin or style; instead, it is used as a blanket term to refer to all forms of animation from around the world."
To answer your question from an American point of view?
Yes, it is an oxymoron.
10 years from now? We can only hope that artistic merit will not be limited by geographic lines. The more quality work that is being produced, the happier I will be.
you still didn't answer why their so much better than Works, though :-P

@Cecilia: I'm glad you're doing well :).

So being, I'm up for a PCL game if anyone else is. I want to play some more games and see if I can get more packs for better cards. Or switch my deck entirely.
I'm going to enjoy my dinner, but feel free to IM/PM me.
Windmills do not work that way!
Edit: I posted a few new cards in the rumor mill.
