We're fairly sure that the car problem is one of two things - either the battery or the starter. The battery seems plausible considering the one in there right now was a salvage battery that's lasted us two years already. The starter isn't as plausible considering we bought a new one for the damned thing some time ago and it should still be fine. Things would be so much simpler if it were a battery issue. Keep your fingers crossed, guys.
In other news, I'm very pleased with how my PCL deck is working now. If anyone's up for a late game right now, I'm available for a little while.
I hate car trouble, too. Especially when you don't postively know the cause. I've got my fingers crossed, too. I know you guys need all the luck you can get.
I'm doing alright, just surfing the 'net and looking up random junk, like usual.

Ethersphere--I hope you fellas get the car thing figured out. I'm very glad to hear it's most likely not the transmission. I just had to replace mine ($1200 for that and torque converter). It's not fun. Good luck with it being the battery, since those aren't too awful.
Good luck on the job Omna! I'm sure you'll do great at either place.
Coffeehouse Chat--Does everyone realize this coming Sunday is Easter? I'm still up for it, but will probably be stuck without internet and my grandparents down the road.
Psychoburner--I was near your way sort of. I was in the Flint area on Thursday and Sunday/Monday.
On a side note: My best friend has a stalker and it's really worrying her. She's going to get a restraining order on the guy, but that's still really creepy. Her fiance and I are trying to calm her down a bit. Poor girl!
Thanks guys. If it's the battery it'll be a no muss, no fuss thing, so that's what we're shooting for.
Ya know...I keep forgetting this Sunday is Easter. I've been really messed up on holidays since my mother's passing, strangely enough. I just haven't noticed them much. I never would've known last Christmas even came were it not for the random gifts O_o;;
a stalker? Wow, that's got to be bad. I hope your friend can get the restraining order. I know too well the damage people like that can do to someone's life.
I'm actually quite surprised that you remember the general location of where I live, Dreia. Then again, I may just be assuming everyone has a memory like mine...a very, very bad one...

I'm not here today because I'm working on 2 chapters of math homework in 2 nights. I'm almost half done, after having worked for 9 hours. I'll do the rest tomorrow, since there's honestly not all that much. Still, I have one more section for tonight.
*waves at Shaharazad* I've never heard of the Rosetta Stone, but it sounds like something I'd like.
Man. I didn't even find out about this car trouble until I got home today. Hope it is just a battery, which it probably is from the looks of it.
I had a pretty mediocre day. The workday dragged a bit, and I worked with one of the coworkers I specifically don't like working with. Oh, well. It was okay.
So, for the PCL, let me get it straight. We keep our previous deck and card pool?
Is abyone else here familiar with Ayurvedic medicine?

But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
@mamelon: awww poor mamelon *hugs* Im glad you got through the day.
I havent really felt like posting here lately because i really havent been myself. Well i just wanted to say goodnight to everyone and ill be on aol and msn if anyone wants to talk but if not see you all later.
I just dug up that page. I used to have a better one but I misplaced the link. It was also broken down well in an interesting, Buddhism-oriented book called The Chemistry of Joy. It's thought that the body contains different levels of five Ayurvedic elemental essences - earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Kapha is the body type characterized by high levels of earth and water, vata is air and ether, and pitta is fire and water.
As far as my understanding goes, my constitutional type is some combination of vata and kapha. I'm very slow-moving, have low energy, and a slightly larger build like a kapha, but I become dried out easily, have light hair and eyes, and tend to be cold like a vata.
I'm not sure how authentic any of it is, but I'm always interested in stuff like that. I've actually found some of the lifestyle advice for both of those types (air-ether and water-earth) to be suitable for me and my needs.
@Kevin: Hope you're doing okay, bubby. *hugs*
@Lilly: I'm sad to hear about you and your boyfriend. *hugs*

Nana is well, let's face it, a little spacey. She's just ready to move to a place in Tokyo with her boyfriend, now that he's finally gotten into a college in Tokyo. Once there, she needs to look for a job, and most importantly, find a place of her own to stay. During the train ride there, she happens to sit next to a girl carrying a guitar case, whom she finds strangely beautiful. Coincidentally, this girl also happens to be named Nana. They hit it off wonderfully, and talk for quite a while on the train ride to Tokyo, parting ways once they arrive.
Flash forward a few days: Nana is looking for an apartment to stay in, and her boyfriend is getting impatient for her to find a job. She gets an offer on an apartment in an old brick building, and when she goes to check it out, who shows up (also looking for an apartment)? If you guessed the other Nana she met on the train, you're right. They work out a deal to split the rent for the apartment, and they each take half of it, with a shared kitchen. Thus the story of the two Nanas' lives together begins.
Did I mention that the second Nana has a band? The backstory for her is very interesting (got kicked out of highschool for being accused of prostitution o_0), and the way they present her story is very well done. Be warned, there are a few sex scenes in Nana, and some partial nudity. This is an adult drama, after all.
Nana has a very unique look, and the opening song is amazing, which is what got me hooked on the show. The drama aspect of the show and the unique look, as well as the fact that for once there are no magic powers/space creatures/robots/vampires/etc, is very refreshing. This could very easily be made into the kind of live-action drama you might see on TV in the evenings without losing a whole lot. Plus, it has a nice blend of comedy, drama, and romance, with a plot that keeps you watching without being too involved. Come for the character designs and awesome music, stay for the quirky, sometimes emo-ish drama/love story. 4/5 stars in my book.
I just got back from a 4-day mini vacation visiting my brother in Washington, DC. Nothing wild and exciting to report, just some good old-fashioned hanging out and enjoying each other's company. And the weather was friggin' awesome!

@Charlie: Yeah, it's hard to believe that one guy made that nearly by himself on his Apple G5 at home. It's like fanart, but a whole 'nother level of fan art. Good stuff. His other movie, Places Promised in our Early Days, is just as impressive visually, if not more so, but the the plot just falls on its nose. Personally, I get bored after about the first hour of awesome looking backgrounds... and nothing else.
@Alacar: Eegads, I totally forgot to wish you a happy birthday, it seems... so, here's a belated one. Tanjobi de omedatou gozaimasu!
Welcome back, Kraj. Hope you had a good time.
Just doing some consolidating - here are the picture galleries I posted earlier. I think other people should be able to see them like this, but I'm not entirely sure:
Edit: Ack! The link for the opening of that show was to a video that was removed. I went back and edited it in, but just in case, here is the correct link:
As far as my understanding goes, my constitutional type is some combination of vata and kapha. I'm very slow-moving, have low energy, and a slightly larger build like a kapha, but I become dried out easily, have light hair and eyes, and tend to be cold like a vata.
These are all strong characteristics of mine:
Pitta Your skin tends to be fair and warm to the touch Your hair is fine and light Your eyes are penetrating and blue/gray in color Your are determined and competitive by nature You enjoy working as your own boss You tend to be a perfectionist and become impatient easily You enjoy challenge and accomplishment You tend to be more intellectual by nature You become irritable when hungry Your health problems tend to center around inflammation You are fond of cold food and drinks You prefer a cool and dry climate
Kapha Your frame is large You are compassionate but tend toward attachment You are slow to learn but have an excellent memory You have good stamina but tend toward laziness You are a sound sleeper and prefer to sleep at least 8 hours
Vata You have an active and creative mind
Interesting stuff, but I wish the site was less focused on selling books. I only glanced at it's other areas, but it didn't seem to volunteer much helpfull information outside of the constant "friendly" reminder that I could purchase one of their books or pay for a personal coach.
Yeah, unfortunately that tends to be the way it goes with modern movements about health or reexamining ancient wisdom.
The kapha and vata personality types are actually pretty descriptive of me in conjunction . . . easily attached, forgiving and tender, quirky and cerebral, imaginative and weird, slow to action but tends to make long-term commitments, good memory, etc. Not to mention lazy, skittish, and retiring.
The Chemisty of Joy was neat in that it gave suggested regimens for exercise and diet for each type, too. The book is about depression, and claimed that each type has a certain form of depression it tends towards - agitated depression (pitta), anxious depression (vata), and sluggish deppression (kapha).
Pitta is described as passionate, discerning, opinionated, artistic, and irritable.
Vata is described as quixotic, creative, abstract, quick-witted, and anxious.
Kapha is described as gentle, benevolent, dependable, broad-minded, and melancholic or lazy.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
From examining myself, I can't help be feel that, if there is truth to this, then it must change over time. When I was younger I was far more quixotic and abstract, but I've become more Pitta/Kapha in recent years.
I can see how it would be excelent for dealing with depression though. I might have to check into that book actually. I try to find excercise and food that appeals to me, and seems to work for me, but outside help is always nice.
..as long as they don't try to take away my curries.
Kapha? What? I misread as "kappa" and pictured you as a Japanese water elemental on the half-shell...LOL
Rainy today, gotta go to work in a bit and volunteer some more, then restock my fridge as it's been a week since I had anything in there worth eating. (Cereal doesn't count).
Heh, I wish there were a kappa smilie, because I'd start using it.
Some of the stuff I read about each constitutional type seemed about as accurate as anything you'd read about specific types of people (which is to say, not really), but thn other parts seemed surprisingly spot on. I'm not sure how much each list of physical traits match up with each personality style, though.

I got 4-2-3 on the inventory, though there were some where I didn't know what to put. (Do my health problems involve a lot of mucus? I never paid that much attention.) I guess I'm sort of between the types. I can see elements of myself in all three of the descriptions.
@Mamelon's "test": I ended up being a very clear Vata. I must've checked off six or seven things in that category at least and two or three in each of the others.
@Kraj: Welcome back!
