What do you all think of the new future-shifted frame? I'd rather have the mana cost represented with regular mana symbols and in the same place as normal, but otherwise they look really awesome to me. Can't wait to see other colors!
I have to admit - I love these new card frames for one thing and one thing alone: The mana cost is not easily obscured. I've always wanted it embedded in the art or at least to the left of everything else (hence why I used the FPM frames for my custom set). I seriously hope they use these frames fulltime starting with Lorwyn. They aren't snazzy or anything - just more functional than the old ones. I'd prefer a less gray looking colorscale tho.
@Soap: Awesome! At this point tho, it feels more and more like Daryl Hannah is playing the nurse/assassin role she already played in Kill Bill.
Okay.. I was going to do Regular of the Week as my 6,000th post, but that's just too darn funny not to say something. Truly the best episode yet. Made me s****** and try to hold in a laugh as I read it in the library. I love it.
Also, I got the 'Closer to You' reference, Photon. I wonder who'll get the Shinobi counter reference?
Card frames: As Tnisk as shown me, there are some frames I like, some frames I don't like. Sorry Crimson, I don't really like Tnisk's frames. But hey, not my set. The Future Sight 'Futureshifted' card frame, as I can see, looks to be actually in a lot of ways better looking than the post-8th frames. It looks more clear and concise, with a clear mana cost and a bigger art frame. I like it. In order:
As old school as I am, I like what they've done with the frames. I used to be opposed to it, but after designing a whole block using them, they've become second nature to me.
I'm sure these new Future Sight frames will grow on me.
This is all aesthetics, though: As long as I can read the card and play with it, I don't care what the frame looks like.
I'll have Regular of the Week up when I get home, which shouldn't be long.
As far as the borders go. I'm old school like you, but the post 8th borders have grown on me. I feel they are more sophisticated and refined from a design perspective. I don't like the "future" borders. To me, they feel tacky and unbalanced, but perhaps they too will grow on me over time.
So I changed my avatar, custom, and location in honor of my 6000th post! BOO YEAH IM TEH POSTER W/THA 6K POSTZ!
.....in all seriousness, I just wanted to use my Mentok the Mind Taker avatar. Don't expect it to stick around long.
As for the frames--the post-8th ones have more room for art and for text, and as a card designer, I came to appreciate both. The FS ones look to be the same, but I could be wrong.
I really like the futureshifted border. While the card image is obviously very small, I feel as if it looks very stylish to me. It looks like there might only be room for six mana circles on it, but only a few cards have ever had that many mana symbols on them anyway. (Autochthon Wurm and Karona were the first things to come to mind.)

Clearly, lol at Soap.
I was going to bring that up earlier- it seems the cards cap out at 6 mana symbols, which is a potential con. I mean, granted, I'mnot clamoring for any BBBBBBB creatures or anything, and it's very rare you ever see more than 6 separate mana symbols on card, but it's still something to consider.
Edit: Man, I haven't actually used mana tags in MONTHS
I blame you Photon!
Lova ya, chica.
@Shin: She can read English. She just can't speak it. I mean, have any of you ever actually heard her say a word of English out loud?
@Soaphouse
Me too, though I'm one of the few who don't feature in it (yet... I have a feeling, with the appearance of Shinobi, I may show up as a "backstory" character soon). Indeed, "Alacaaaaaar... I mean, nooooooo" was the best part. ROFL.
So, the fourth and final episode of Dai Mahou Touge just came out... I'm getting it right now. Evil magical girls who transform to the tune of "Lyrical Tokarev, Kill Them All!", go! Princess submission-holds FTW!
Regarding the PCL, I got my stuff, and what I got was pretty funny, since it would have suited my old deck better. I got a R/B dual land, but I'm playing G/W now. Figures, lol. I'll have my trade post, etc up in a bit.
Okay, with our one year anniversary coming up, I thought I would go over all the old threads and do sort of a timeline/year in review of the House and all it's goings-on, chronicling some memorable quotes, controversies, notable events, and other things.
Photon: Do you mean actually recognizing people for stuff? Or to be funny?
Both sound good to me.
I was thinking more along the lines of having nominations for a number of categories, and then taking a vote- sort of like the forum awards, except no wanking or high pitched weeping.

And Photon, that sounds great... ironically the one year anniversary of the birth of the waffle-iron is to be the date of my graduation from college.. I'm not exactly sure what to think of that..
Remember my IYS thread?? I thought you were a girl
I promise no weeping. No guarantees on the wanking.
Anyway, how is everyone today? I'm doing swell. I'm still up for those games of MWS if anyone else is *hint hint*. Pretty boring today other than washing my bedsheets.
@New borders: They look pretty neat to me. I don't really break out my paper Magic cards anymore, so it shouldn't really affect me. But, they look cool anyway.
Hey popes, how you guys, girls, and Alacar doing? I think for the new borders, they'll be ok for this set, but I'm still undecided as to whether I'd want it to stay. Anywon up for a PCL game?? Im or Pm me!

I don't really have much to post on. I'm still sorting out some personal challenges that are hard to think and talk about. My flights arrived safely and relatively on time.
Anywho, I was wondering if we could try a Coffeehouse chat again. Photon mentioned it awhile back, but a lot of things came up which pushed it aside. Now that things seem to be settling, can we please try this? It sounds like a blast. I don't talk with many of you on IM, so I think this will be an opportunity to have instant communication among the large group. Please give input, so we can pick a time and get this rolling.
Magic Soap-Operahouse...it once again provided a great fit of side-splitting laughter. ***** fights in the preview, but never actually happened. Omna and Alacaaaaaaaaaaar!
How about Thursday night? Or Saturday evening? Or Sunday afternoon? Or SEPTEMBER?
Tonight, while perusing the old threads, I found a lot of funny memories:
-Arguas going all Gandalf on TFE
-The birth of the waffle iron
-At least 4 different arguments involving myself
-Danica's first warning
-Mamelon worshipped as a deity for a handful of pages
-A Banana. Just A Banana.
-The Coffeehouse Theme Deck Contest
-The thread where we all got knocked up
-The true reason behind Memorial Day
-The World Cup
-The dancing/smilie fiasco
-Mike's numerous quittings

I'd have to say I don't like the new frames. From an aesthetic viewpoint. I feel as if this game is a fantasy-based game. These frames are a bit un-fantasy to me, I don't know
So anyways, I'm just sitting here at home, not doing much.

Official Character Sheet Shredder of DAMNIT
DAMNIT: I should never have to shred my own character sheet in frustration.
Ninja_Pirate, or Evan, or even shorter EP, is against using formal user names. This means, of course, I'll have to make him address me as Alacar Leoricar from here on His name is derived from Chris the Ninja Pirate, from the classic Weebl and Bob cartoons. This is the first appearance of the mushroom Ninja Pirate--you'll have to watch the rest to see more of him.
EP came to MTGSalvation in January 2005, but not during the 'News migrations--he discovered the site on essentialmagic.com, and fell in love with MTGS. Aww. He frequents the Coffeehouse, as well as the Forum Games and Limited forums most. He fancies himself a better limted player than constructed. Perhaps he should join the Precon League and sharpen his skill?
Speaking of Magic, Evan confesses that Mind's Desire is his favorite card, because no matter who plays it, it's always a fun card. That's why I have 4--that, and it was pre-banned in Vintage. That's just sick.
His current deck project is a homemade concoction; he's against netdecks. He uses Null Profusion+Ignite Memories for a win. Reminds me of the old Recycle+Brain Freeze combo.
When he's not storming up like a madman, Evan likes to play Tennis and/or his bass. At the same time even. He's a freaking Ninja Pirate. He can do it.
He has the following to expose about himself. Ladies, avert your eyes.
He's 17, 5'9", and 'horribly' thin. He is undergoing a transgender process like ShinSakura, because, well, man, he feels like woman. Strangely enough he's most afraid of Venus Flytraps and Sunflowers. Explain that one to me. Maybe they're like the anti-Ninja_Pirates.
Evan hopes one day to be a novelist, a dream he's had since he was 5. He is working on a novella now and hopes to get it published. Good luck! Maybe it should involve Ninja and Pirates. (If you haven't gotten it by now, I'm stretching the 'Ninja and Pirate' joke as thin as I can.)
Regarding the Coffeehouse, Evan loves how people listen to other people here. I would say more but I didn't read it. (j/k.) He is glad that there's a place where people can be open about their problems and expect support.
He loves him some hot chocolate. Yum.
He also had a few mentions to specific regulars:
I really like ShinSakura because she is just so helpful with what I am going through, I really love her for this.
And of course Cecilia because she is also just so helpful at putting things in perspective.
And I cant leave out Ethersphere for being an absolute RPG master and I really enjoy our gaming talks.
And that's it for this week's Regular of the Week, Ninja_Pirate.
Wait..
Geek Mp3
We're almost at the 1 year mark. When I hit the 1-year mark, I'm gonna take all the mp3s off the list and upload them onto Megaupload as a 'Coffeehouse Soundtrack' of sorts.
This week we have two songs from EP, and two from me, for all you Wii fans out there.
I just wanna say quickly before I go to bed and leave until Thursday that Sunday afternoon or evening is REALLY good for me for a House chat, but I can be flexible so long as it doesn't involve being available on a Tuesday or Wednesday.
Congrats to NP for RotW, and various other abbreviations and acronyms.

Ha ha, I remember that. I even got in on it and I hadn't gotten to know her at all. I believe that at this time I thought she was a teenage boy because of the avatar she had :p.
@ninja pirate: congrats on rotw! You deserve it as much as any other regular in here. Good job *hugs* awww how sweet of you to mention me. *blushes*

See you all tommorrow and ill be on aol messenger and msn if anyone wants to talk to me. *hugs and blows kisses*

I was going to be disappointed by my lack of action in the SoapOperaHouse - but then I noticed the casting. Sean Bean? Get in. The bit of rough who all the women want (seriously, I've yet to find a woman who would turn Sean Bean down.) Sweet.
Ooh, who's Sean Bean?
So I've had an absolutely dreadful day. From feeling ill this morning (chest pain FTW!), to a headache throughout most of the day at work, to having to use programs which are about as user-friendly as a tongue-activated cattle prod, to a half-length train on the way home filled to beyond bursting point. If I'm still feeling unwell and grouchy in the morning, I might take the morning off work. It's not really fair to expose the people at work to me being ill and in a foul mood.
There there. *pats hand*
EDIT: EWWWWW. That new card frame is horrible. It's ickier than girls.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
@Photon:
Hey, I actually remember most of those. Good times.
Not much time since I'm on break, but I just wanted to say that something really cool came in the mail for me last night. No, not a letter-bomb from Photon. It was *drumroll* my passport! I am just itchin' to get to Japan now that I have it. Time to start looking for a job so I can ditch this telemarketing crap.
Also, I'm thinking of going up to WSU tomorrow, so if you don't hear from me, that's where I'll be. Number one, they don't have what they're supposed to be showing in anime club, so I'll be bringing it with me. Number two, I want to talk with everyone about our friend that passed and hopefully help myself find a little bit more closure about the whole thing. I'm sure everyone will have a lot to say, and I want to see the memorial collage one of my friends is putting together.
One more thing - I have access to a digital camera now, so I may put some pictures of random stuff up tonight, which may include my car that Crimson wanted to see. Look for that later this evening, along with this Tuesday's AotW.

The first is We Interrupt This Programme by Coburn, better known as NEDM, from YTMND.com. This is the original site. If you have no idea what NEDM is all about, then go here, and/or watch this. Truly one of the best, funniest, and most complex YTMND fads of all time. (And one of the saddest ) Do not fear! Revenge is served.
The next is Dogwood Rust by Comets on Fire. I have no comment.
From me, we have the Mii Channel. That's right, the little ditty that can get lodged in your brain.
Also from the Wii, we have the Wii Menu. This song hardly qualifies as a song, but it's very soothing and helps me sleep.
And oh yeah, Ninja Pirates. Oxymoron, or the most powerful beings on the planet? You decide.
