Honestly, I really wanna go in the direction of blue white tempo-control. I'm just beginning to get some cards I like for that.
Well, if you want you can take my old pile, then it would be *new* ;). It has a lot of blue/white control which really annoyed me considering I was trying to run blue/white aggro :gonk:.
In case no one noticed, I lost interest in the PCL. I'm grateful that alacar didn't send me anymore packs btw ;). I could join back in... but...

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
Since I'm not in the league it's hard for me to know what the best numbers would be. But I whole-heartedly agree that it should be kept simple. I also think it's important to make sure any trade-in system is less efficient than trading with other players, since trading is supposed to be part of the fun. It should simply be a bonus method of geting ahold of new cards, not the primary method.

well i suggest playing with sakura's fish or something its uw aggro-control. Although it needs to be tweeked considering solidarity, threshold, and goblins don't appear as much as they used to.
Lol, I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that. I must have been on something that I'm miraculously not on now. Anyway, what I meant to say was "not everyone who has a trophy has a Wiki". Yeah, lol :p.
Awwww. I don't know how much it means to you, but I think you're dealing with this matter quite maturely.
It actually means a lot to me. Thank you. I may seem very mature online and when I'm talking about it with you guys, but it is a whole nother story when I am in person with her. Not that I am immature, I just don't know what to say sometimes. It seems you know how that feels, even recently with that situation with your old classmates. Or maybe that was something different.
Believe it or not, all this winning isn't actually that fun... I wouldn't mind a change. I have a new deck idea I want to try out.
However... That doesn't actually require us to restart the whole thing. We already have a system in place to start with a new precon. Therefore... I don't know. I honestly don't mind either way. I am cool with starting over or continuing on.
@Wiki: I discovered that my usercard on the coffeehouse page was missing, so I made an account and edited it in myself. Nifty. I guess I better check the Wiki thread to make sure I can actually do that. If so, I may add myself a page later.
Edit: It checks out. Apparently, if you act like a jerk or otherwise mess stuff up, you get blocked and your changes reversed, but anyone can edit it.
Bad news for me. I'm awake, and it's 1:00am. I have work at 8:00am. Grr, sleeping 'till noon.

I can. The page needs major updating anyway. Mortal Wombat and PotN's cards are still on there, and the regular/casual list is way out of date. I"ll PM VestDan and ask him before I change it further, though.
Whether we should restart everything depends on how much we're changing things. If we're just changing distribution methods, I feel like it's the same league with the rules tweaked a hair. If we're all changing decks, then in makes sense to restart the standings. Since accumulated wins and losses don't affect distribution, it's hardly unfair to preserve them.
Just popping in for a few since I should really be in bed.
My plane takes off around 4pm tomorrow. So I need to pack yet. Yikes! This is my farewell before I head out. *Dreia hopes she can find a net connection*
Mams, I sometimes don't like seeing those I went to high school with either. There are a few I'm still really close to, but seeing some others just ruins my day. You're not alone!!
Strongbad, I would say casual bring something up. If I were you, I wouldn't go out of my way to say something so she isn't put off. It's more than a crush from what I can tell, and there seems to be some mutual bonds (stronger than just feelings). I still wish you the best, matters of the heart are a tough thing.
@PCL...I'm definitely not in the league, but I want to mention something. If you go on a points system of some sort, I would suggest not awarding points for wins before the system changes. It's really not fair to those who've had no luck, joined late, didn't have time, etc. If I understood right, a few people really dominated and that's sort of what is making it not so fun. If you award points based on the wins beforehand, it will not be much different just a change in the system set up. Good luck in whatever is chosen.
Take care everyone. I will try to let whoever cares know that I've arrived.
Draft 1 of the new Coffeehouse Preconstructed League Rules.
This is a league. I am not responsible for how often you play or who you play. You may play anyone else in the league as often as you like.
You start with a preconstructed deck. You may choose any preconstructed deck sold by Wizards of the Coast.
Notes on Precon decks:
The Coffeehouse Preconstructed League's Banned/Restricted List is the same as Legacy's. If you ever get a banned card (or a second restricted card), let me know. I'll replace it.
If you choose a Core Set Precon deck that's 40 cards, I'll give you a '20 card pack' to fill it in. Don't expect much.
You have access to unlimited basic lands for use in your maindeck. Basic lands are not allowed in your collection, but they ARE allowed in your sideboard. Snow-Covered Lands can't be used this way. You have to get Ice Age or Coldsnap packs to get them.
Magic Online-made Precon decks are a viable choice to use for the Precon League.
Pack Distribution:
When you start, you get 1 pack from each set in the block from the Precon deck's set, plus 1 Ninth Edition pack. If you crack a banned card (or a second restricted card), let me know, I'll replace it for you.
Every week, I will give you two packs from a Legacy-legal set of your choice.
I will PM you the contents of your packs, and have my packs PMed to me.
Point System: When you play in a match, you get 10 points, regardless of the outcome. If you win, you get 5 extra points.
Costs:
1 pack of your choice: 30 points Stipulation: You may only do this once per week.
1 common: 7 points Stipulation: If it's a rare or an uncommon in any set, then it counts as the higher rarity.
1 uncommon: 15 points Stipulation: If it's a rare in any other set, then it counts as a rare.
1 rare: 30 points.
Exchange Rule: You may 'turn in' 22 commons, 6 uncommons, and 2 rares from your collection to get 1 pack from a set of your choice. Do this no more than two times per week. Time Spiral 'Timeshifted' Purple cards count as the highest rarity of the card it's shifted.
Special Packs: Once a month, I will give you 1 Special Pack, which consists of 1 rare, 2 uncommons, and 4 commons of your choice.
Trading: Trading can be done in private with anyone else. We at the Coffeehouse trust that you're being honorable and not pretending to have a card you don't. Trading is highly encouraged, as is posting your haves and wants.
Starting Anew: You may, at any time, choose to start with a new Precon deck. But keep in mind you will be at a disadvantage in terms of cards. If you start anew, you keep the points you had before.
Gameplay
Games are best 2 out of 3.
You may play anyone else in the league as often as you wish.
If you can't finish a match, it doesn't count.
Report all wins and/or losses in this thread.
Sideeboard: Sideboards are 15 cards. The rest is your collection.
Coffee-Mulligan: At any time you could mulligan, if you have 0, 1, 6, or 7 lands in your hand, you may reveal it, and mulligan without losing a card. Do this only once per game.
Mirage (MTGO)
Visions (MTGO)
Tempest---Planar Chaos
Sixth Edition---Ninth Edition
I know it's a bit risky to let you use ANY precon, but I wanna see more diversity in the League.
As for keeping vs. starting over.. suggestions? I think perhaps taking 60 cards (your final deck before changing over), plus 45 cards (Equal to 3 packs). You may either do that and keep what you have, or go all new.
While many of the precons from before invasion do some interesting things - and Replicator has 4 Blastoderms - few look like much cause for concern. Time Drain might be the scariest.
I fiercely dislike the new point system, since it severely hamstrings people who can only play a few matches a week. There are also waaaaaaaaaaaay too many ways to get specific cards under the system, rapidly eliminating any need for trading, which is one of the more interesting parts of the league.
Keeping an entire deck plus 45 cards is hardly starting over; I'd be hard pressed to find anywhere close to 45 cards amongst my 'sideboard' that anyone would ever be willing to use given the ease with which cards can be obtained.
I probably will quit the precon league. I havent played a single game in a couple of weeks so.. im going to retire from it. Not saying i didnt have fun though.
I'd prefer to keep my deck, since I'm building it how I like. I like the 45 card bit. We probably have close to 200-300 cards at this point in our collections, and this allows us some room to breathe.
I'm not sure if I like the ability to change points for specific cards. It makes it too easy to get your perfect deck. I like changing in points for packs, though. And as for it being 'unfair'... When you're on, just play as much as you can. PLay one person over and over, if you want. You get points for it, and there's no rule against it. People who play a lot are rewarded, people who don't aren't.
Evan: Dude, I feel for you. That's sort of why I didn't like gym. I'd always find a secluded place of the locker room to change, since I didn't want anyone to look at me, and I didn't want to look at anyone else.
Gex 64: Oh god did I love that game. That was before I got into and got any good at platformers, though, so I sucked at it.
Magic: Anyone want to play in a draft tournament? I don't mind which block, but I'd like to do something involving magic. I'll be doing a draft on Friday.
Cecilia: Aw. Well, come back soon, hmm?
On another note, I decided to take the Cogiati out of curiosity. Once upon a time, I had thoughts of gender dysphoria, though this was before I learned I was bisexual, which throws it a lot out of the loop. The test says I'm a low class 4, so I'm apparently probably transexual. that's interesting to know.
On a further note, I wish Magic Mage would stop including my gender on my Wiki page. I remove it for a reason. I like my androgny on this site.
From what I understood, the 45 card thing was, if we brought the new system into effect, you could either restart completely, or keep your old deck and 45 other cards for it, to begin again with, not a new deck and 45 of your old cards, which i agree would be too good, especially since you could essentially keep just the meat of your old deck without basics and get a new deck. I could see restarting completely but everyone keeping like 10 cards, or something, or not, I don't really know for sure though, 10 still may be too much. I'm just glad that its not my choice, otherwise I'd have restarted everyone like 5 times a week and you'd all be pissed off at me. I get bored pretty easily...

"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown" ~ H. P. Lovecraft
@Mr Stuff: Oh gosh. I remember seeing trailers for Sakura Wars way back when I had VHS's of Bubblegum Crisis Toyko 2040. It always looked brilliant, and I have an intense desire to look it up again.
Also, probably the best anime opening ever, imo, is this one from Eureka SeveN.
Guh...I still don't know. I just want to be able to keep and play my old deck and still be part of the league. If all these drastic changes keep taking place and everything's turned upside-down from what it was before, I'm probably not going to participate anymore. I'm not entirely sure that the new way of doing things will actually solve the problems that have been brought up in the first place, so yeah.
The point system does seem a little steep. Maybe if we kept it the way it was, but extended it to three games instead of two for an extra booster, that might work. Not everyone has a lot of time to play a lot of games every week, so it'd be unfair for them not to receive any cards.
I've yet to come across a James Bond actor I don't like. I actually like Timothy Dalton, since he brings a rather cool dimension to Bond. Roger Moore is smooth, Connery is James Bond in a nutshell. Craig does the 'butt kickery' job right.
Also, was anyone else slightly irritated that the guy that plays Jack Wade is also a bad guy in one of the movies?
I never really liked Pierce Brosnan as Bond, myself. Sure he's an English gentleman and can do the playboy thing pretty well, but he never actually felt like James Bond. I always liked Sean Connery (then again who doesn't), and Roger Moore was good. I dunno; I'm not too into Bond films, so I'm probably not one to judge the quality of the actors too seriously =)
In other news, whatever bug I had I inadvertently gave to Josh. So my baby boy isn't feeling too well today. I hope het gets better soon.

I haven't seen Casino Royale yet, but I never could stand Dalton. Maybe it's more the result of crappy scripts, but License to Kill and The Living Daylights bored the living daylights out of me.
I always liked Roger Moore, but mostly because he was the Bond as I was growing up. His movies are good, and The Spy Who Loved Me is one of my top picks, but looking back Moore kinda pisses me off. He's charismatic, but not really attractive enough to get the amount of booty he gets, and he's God-awful at fight scenes.
I very much like Brosnan. I see the criticisms, but I think he sold the part well and Goldenye is easily my favorite Bond movie.
Connery is, of course, number one. He's easily the most well-rounded of the Bond actors. He sells the suave, sophisticated, womanizing, cold-hearted, and bad-ass all at once.
I have to admit, one of the reasons I always liked Sean Connery was his hair. For some reason I find guys with silver/gray hair (especially young guys) really handsome. I hate American Idol, but I like Taylor Hicks, it seems.
I built my perfect green deck in MWS, but now I'm depressed that I won't get to play it in PCL. Blah.
This setup does seem to be rather complicated, and the problem of favoring people who play a lot emerges.
What about, instead of using a point system, simply at the end of each week if you have a winning record you get an additional pack of your choice. If you have a losing record you get 1 rare or 2 uncommons or 4 commons of your choice?
Something like that to keep it simple but also to help those who are struggling with their decks.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
I'd even thought of suggesting different "tiers" of play within the league, so that people who aren't doing so well would have a chance to catch up somehow. Maybe the people with the best win records would play each other for a set amount of time and the ones with the worst records would play amongst themselves. I don't know what anyone else thinks of that idea, though.
The problem is that not everyone is getting their chance to shine, so to speak. When a minority is always on top and the majority is always on the bottom or in the middle, it's very discouraging. I really don't think that starting over and losing our entire collections would solve the problem, though; a number of people have said that they'd leave if that happens, anyway. I think something else needs to be done to make all the players feel like equals and help us all actually have fun. That's the core issue.
EDIT: You know, something I didn't even think about was the actual recording of win/loss records. The PCL was supposed to be mostly casual play, so maybe the recording of wins and losses is hurting things somehow. I don't mean to imply that we eradicate them entirely, but maybe not publicize them so much? Like, keep them recorded on the front page of the league thread but have us PM someone our wins and losses instead of this huge list of "I lost to Fearie Lord, I lost to Mr. Stuff," et cetera. It might help lighten things up a bit and make it feel a little more like a casual game that way. I dunno.
Off the top of my head, tiers don't seem to solve the problem because you might improve your record but then you'll just be playing the same people over and over, and if you play someone of an upper tier you're likely to just get smacked down again. Doing somthing akin to DCI ratings, where you get points based not only on your wins and loses but also on the rating of who you played, might help but then you have the problem of introducing a ton more complexity.
Here's a silly idea: what about something like a handicap in bowling? Those who have winning records get an increased challenge by reducing their starting life totals or hand sizes, or those with losing records get a boost in starting total and handsize? Dunno...just a thought. I'm trying to be a helpful idea guy.
