Afternoon, everyone! I just got out of the shower, and I'm feeling pretty good since I got off work at 12ish and am not scheduled again until an 2 hour meeting on Wed. at 8. So, that's a high point of my day.
When my brother and dad went food shopping, apparently, the cashier was part of HR and asked about me. So, I'm heading up there in a little bit to see what's up. I might be getting a job thats closer to my house.
I'm gonna grab a bite to eat for now though. Tootles!
The one I recently spent more than half the night watching...
ANIME OF THE WEEK
Series: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Episodes: 26
Genre: Horror - Mystery
Awards: AnimeReactor Best Horror, Best Villain 2006
Best way to watch Higurashi: Wait until it's almost dark. Allot enough time to watch the first 4 episodes together. This is important. Don't just watch the first one or two. You must watch all four. Grab a blanket, settle in, and prepare to be creeped out of your mind.
Keiichi-san just transfered in to this peaceful town out in the middle of nowhere. He goes to an average school, where he meets 4 entirely too cheerful girls who make him their friend. The whole first episode plays out like pretty much every generic, happy, lighthearted half-romance-school-comedy thing you've ever seen. It'll have you ready to turn off the show in disgust - which just means it terrifies you out of your mind all the more later on.
From episode 1
Then, around the second and third episode, Keiichi starts finding out a little more about the history of the town. Seems there was a gruesome murder here in the past - and nobody in town seems to know the details. Either that, or they're keeping quiet. Strange things begin happening to him, one by one. Slowly, he becomes increasingly more paranoid. Is someone really trying to kill him?
Let me start this one off with a bold statement: Higurashi is the best horror anime I have ever seen. Period. Better than Elfen Lied, Blood, etc. It's probably now in my top 10 anime list - an incredibly difficult list to get into. Once you get past episode four, you literally won't be able to stop watching. It's that good. Also, be warned: Higurashi is not for the faint of heart. It's not for anyone under 17-18. Kiddies, this is one pool you do not want to jump into. Strong scenes of torture, violence, and so forth. While it is not more directly violent than Elfen Lied, it undoubtedly contains the most painful-to-watch, cringe inducing, oh-God-I-can't-look, scenes I've seen in an anime. Which, of course, makes it all the more fun to watch.
What I really have to laud this series for, though, is plot. WOW. More twists, turns, loop-de-loops, and pitfalls than anything out there, and the beautiful part is, it all works. It all flows together like a work of art. You gradually get more and more clues, never enough to see the big picture, but enough to fill in certain sections of it, and then to begin to see how they will connect. This will keep you guessing... and guessing... and dying from suspense to see how it will all come together. In addition to being the best horror, it is also the best mystery/suspense anime I have seen.
So, if you are 17+, and a fan of the genre, you owe it to yourself to check this out. It quite easily has the most addictive plot of any anime I've yet to see, and is creepy beyond words. Five stars.
Omna: Sorry to hear about your aches and pains. Hope it isn't too serious.
I'll have a new Game of the Week up today. I have a choice between a few different games, not sure which I'll review.
In other news, I did my Constructed tourney last night. Picked the Reanimator precon from Planar Chaos, then bought two PC packs. Augmented the deck, then bought 2 more PC packs after the first round.
At the end of the night, I was half laughing, half annoyed. I had one one out of five games. No bad for a precon. What annoyed/amused me was the fact that the Reanimator dragon from the precon was my rare for THREE of the four packs, and was a foil in the fourth. The rare distribution in this set sucks. Not to mention packs cost too much now.
I just finished painting my nails...they are a really sexy black with shiny purple specs on them now. I need new polish...my black is really old and I had already thinned it with remover...came out kinda crappy. But I am happy to have them painted again. I love my hands...such long sexy fingers. Prob my fav feature of myself.
So, the car checks out. There is a strong possibility of me getting it. Yay for me.
Also, did I mention I absolutely can't wait for those last few episodes of Higurashi? Best series I have seen in forever. I can't say enough good things about it. Except, make sure you watch the first four episodes in a row. If you watch just the first one or two, you will dislike it, guaranteed.
Time to do some requests for my banner shop, balance my checkbook, and see if I can't get something done about my expired bank card. Back in a few.
Back when I was very young, I used to eat meow mix. (dry cat food) It tastes more or less how you would expect it to taste. Like fish. Pretty salty. It has an interesting texture, too.
I also got my shopping done. Thus - I have time to play precon league games. Somebody play me! Now! *evil glare*
Ok, some catching up. I had a blast over the past few days, and watched more anime than is normal for a healthy person... err.. healthy for a normal person, rather. Fun times. Not only did I watch most of this week's AotW, I came back with Dai Mahou Touge (3 OVA), Honey and Clover (26ep), Honey and Clover II (12ep), and the first 23 episodes of Pumpkin Scissors. My collection grows and grows, faster than I can watch it.
The car I'm looking at is a 94 Pontiac, teal in color. Once I adjusted the steering column, it drove very well. The only thing that might be a hang up is the slight oil leak on the right side of the engine. Something to keep an eye on, at the least. The carfax report came back clean - it had been bought originally in Michigan, driven up to 71,000 miles, then sold to a dealer in Columbus, where the current owners bought it. They are a Menonite family, whose church apparently frowns on cars as "fancy" as that one, so now they have to sell it.
So, once again, I'm looking for Precon League games. PM me.
No, i can't play, just wanted to say hi. Where do you get your anime anyway?
I get mine from narutofan.com and i love good Anime, have you ever seen bleach? It is my favorite anime of all time!

@MM: I'm not really a fan of most Jump anime, with the exception of a few things like Alchemist and Get Backers. I patently stay away from Naruto, Inuyasha, Shaman King, Bleach, One Piece, and generally most of the stuff that is "mega-popular", mostly because they tend to run for insane numbers of episodes. When you do that, you tend to become repetitive and start throwing filler in there. I like my anime to have a relatively concise story, that I can watch and remember all of. I also like stuff that has a definite beginning and a definite end.
Hey folks.. god... today could not have been longer..
1) Got up early today, rushing out the door to Driver's ed. My post is earlier today.
2) 8 hours of pointless tedium. The class could easily be cut into 1 hour of reading and a test, and maybe half an hour of discussion. If the classroom didn't consist of 45 students, 85% of them aged 16-17 from all over the area, and they paid attention and read the book. The teacher is an artsy type, so she talks and talks and talks. And talks. EVERY SINGLE note and lesson has a story attached to it. And oh yeah, this time we had gruesome photos of a man who had been literally eviscerated after getting caught under a dump truck and his body parts were strewn over 200ft of road.
I slept in that class for the first 3 hours. And I STILL got a 100 on the single test at the end of the long long day. The way it's scheduled is bull. It's 7.9 hours of the teacher droning on and on while the kids talk and talk and I try to read the 5 short chapters. We get 10 minute breaks at the top of every hour and a one hour lunch. The breaks are too short and the lunch is too long. Then during the last 20 minutes we rush over the very questions on the test we're about to take. Then we take the test, and we all ace it. Of course. They want us to ace it so they look good. I barely remember what we studied.
3) After all this is finally over at 3:40 in the afternoon, it's another half hour before my ride gets there to get me. Then I wait another 2 hours while my parents shop in a hardware store.
4) When we get home, I wait another hour for my dad to finish installing a fan on my ceiling. That's not so bad, but when I finally get up there, my room is a total mess again. A total mess. I cleaned it last week during spring break. Now it's a sty!
Gah..
Mr. Stuff, I'll add AotW to post #2. Regular of the Week for next week will be a little late next week as I get things together.
I think everyone's pretty much out. I did see Omna on earlier. I've got a lot of Irish in me, but I'm doing nothing tonight. I could've gone out to play Werewolf with my buddies, but I just wanted to blah after the hell that was this week. I only have Sunday off before I get right back into it. And I'm behind on 2 of my classes. Whoop-dee-freaking-doo.
Okay, that's enough complaining. I'm gonna finish watching Office Space and working on my new set.
hey alacar, you were watching Office Space on Comedy Central too? I was watching it , but then I went on the internet (MtgS) and missed part of it, and i'm really annoyed, cause it's the part I AlWAYS miss. Anyway, anyone else here seen the new Future Sight Card in the Rumor Mill? I've been waiting for the spoilers, and I see some great combos to go with that Sprout Storm, but everyone here seems so knowledgeable, would anyone be willing to check over there and answer my questions on mechanics comboing legality?
@ Snoop - That enough content for you, you.... Nah, im just kidding, sorry for the dumb post, I had to do something and wanted to get the post in beforehand

Hello everyone, Sorry I was gone for about two days without telling anyone ^_^;.
I went on a youth group activity over night and when I got home I had to leave because we had a baby shower here for my aunt. In my family their can never be any men at a baby shower, ever :p.
I'm 1/16 Irish (15/16 Finnish), its hardly worth mentioning. I won't wear green on whatever day this is and I certainly won't tell people I'm Irish. Too many people pretend they are just so they can "get in on it".

Goodnight everyone this will probably will be my last post for tonight. Ill be on aol and msn if anyone wants to talk to me. I have a day off from work tommorrow so I am free for the time being ;). See you all soon! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone* Have a great night and a great rest of the weekend everyone!
@koolkoal: thats okay koolkoal we all understand. Well i hope you are enjoying your weekend and have a great night!
@mamelon: *blushes* yay mamelon called me snickerdoodle again.
Love,
I didn't do much today. I went out to play DDR for an hour or two, then came home to play a several-hour-long game of Monopoly which ended in my win, with combined assets on my side of $11758. One of the best games I've ever played. I also found out that my Collector's Edition (somethingth aniversary) edition of Monopoly is only missing a handful of bills of game money (which the company will actually send you for free) and one or two cards of Community Chest (likewise).
I'm back everyone. I think I got most of the issues somewhat worked out (to the point where I can breathe again) and life seems a little less demanding/overwhelming. Thanks for the support everyone. I really appreciate it!
I've been reading up on posts and don't have a whole lot to say. There weren't many posts to start with.
The last few days I've been shopping for summery clothes. I'm flying to Florida to visit with some family since my great grandma isn't doing too well. It's like a farewell and a joyous time at all once. This was part of what I had to work through while being bombarded with other emotions and situations.
I hope everyone is doing well, and I should be active until I leave. I'm not sure while I'll be able to get for a net connection.
Pleasant dreams this evening or good morning, depending on when and where you're reading this. Toodles!!
Looks like i lost against mono white angel stompy in round 4.... darn cataclysm.. oh well.. *sigh* I definetly need to work on the aggro matchup for funkbrew badly.
Hello everyone. I don't know where I've been the past few days. I've felt like a ghost just floating through my days and I can't seem to focus on anything. I've spent a lot of time in bed just staring at the walls and I just can't seem to figure out what's wrong. I know that I'm just being whiny now but I sincerely wish that some of you guys could genuinely give me some help.

I'm sorry you haven't been feeling yourself, Evan. If I can help in any way, I will try. You seem depressed to me, but I have no idea what about, so it is hard for me to help you get out of it. Still, just try as hard as you can to think positively and be energetic. Do some active things and hang out with your friends. Hopefully that will help you get back to normal.
Anyway, good morning Coffeehouse. I hope everyone had a good night's sleep. I've got church in about an hour, so, um, yeah. I can't really think of anything else to talk about. Bye everyone!!
One of the reasons I make sure my rats get fresh veggies and such. While pet food is nutritional, it is hardly made with taste in mind.
