Also, i found a small ball today in the back-yard. I remember it when i had my old dog, a really cute terrier which i loved but was too much of a problem (tore television wires, broke items and the such) so we had to give her to another family. I was really fond of her and often played with her with this small but heavy ball and such a thing is the only thing that can put a smile on your face every day, reminscing about what you loved before with memories that shall never leave me. This little insignificant detail really gave me a small chuckle.
I know how you feel. My mom used to live in a big house in another city, and they had a black Labrador retriever named Bela. She was one of the most adorable creatures I've ever known. Last year, my mom moved back into my city, and had to give Bela to other family. Even though I didn't really see her on a day-to-day basis, it still got me very sad. I still get sad whenever I see a Labrador.
@Omna - Sorry to hear about your leg. Hope everything works out for you.
The subject of gender roles and other things about the individual being seperate from society, etc. were brough up, I just wanted to die right there, but then had a moment of inspiration and stepped up, and spoke out against both the people saying that who you are is determined by birth, and those that say YOU is a learned thing (in both cases I'd be male then, because thats what I was taught and what physically I was born as, so I know those aren't completely true). I brought up the point that people probably have a sense of who they are inside, seperate but not always different from their body, and no one really understood what I meant (I would blame teenagers not having to deal with this sort of thing too frequentlym if I'd blame anything)...
And to add insult t Injury to torture, my fourth hour did a little project thing where we pretended to be from fake countries and did negotiations. Mine were very religious, and matriarchal. Needless to say all the groups were divided 3 males, three females(guess which i was categorized as?), to balance things out, so I was very aware from those two things of my situation.... also, its no fun for me pretending to be religious and conservative, those that know me know how i feel about such ideas. So now thats over and I am not sure what to do now, one of my frieds is angry with me for telling his girlfriend he cheated on her (which he may or may not have been joking about) Either way, I think either she deserves to know that sort of thing, or he shouldn't joke about that sort ofn thing. I wish I didn't work tonight....
I'd like to apologize to all the coffee-folk for being so Angst-ey today, I really don't mean to bring anyone down with me...
I should be free after 9:30 CST to play a league game if anyone wants

I am proud of you for speaking out about the gender roles. I imagine since you are directly connected to the subject and study it alot you probably had a better argument than any of them, and I hope you helped enlighten some of them.
As for the other activity. While it is a difficult thing to come forward with, you could have come forward and requested to do the excersize as a woman. To avoid the issue of your gender identity issues you could have argued that if they expect you to roleplay being conservative and/or pieous it makes as much sense to have people also roleplay being of different gender views as well. This would have helped you feel more comforatble in the assignment, protected your identity, and helped others understand your condition (since the teacher could have requested others in the class act as a different gender role as well, and they would have had a moment of the confusion you live with daily)
Wow Omna that is awful. I am here for you if you need someone to vent at...just slip me a PM. I hope it is something fixable. I trained as a Nurse, there are a large number of benign and not so benign conditions which share those symptoms...I am hoping for the better of the bunch, or at least if it is major they catch it fast
I don't think its a good time to talk about this kind of stuff with omna. We are all here to support her not scare her. I personaly wouldn't mention any futuristic diseases to her its definetly not a good plan if you talk like that especially in the hospital. eh I'm just curious actually as to waht people think it may be, and while it yes, scares me i also know that a variety of people in the 'House have a medical background so i wanted to know if there was anything they suggest or know of that may be the cause of what this stupid thing is.... @Kevin : I am not trying to scare her. It is stupid to sugar coat serious issues. Omna seems like a strong person overall. While stressed I am sure she would prefer supportive honesty to non-constructive "get well soon" cards. I am behind her 100% and wish her well.

I personally would think it would just be best to just support you omna. I know how its like though considering i used to do clinicals in a hospital for more then a year. Ive seen alot of things there and i find it highly encourageable to just be support to one or another and not talk about any complication issues. Which is the reason why we have doctors that work daily in the hospital there the ones that should discuss about the complications not anyone else.
That could be scary because I actually started birth control recently and there's a very small chance of a blood clot... I forgot about that, when i was riding on the train....

Well it highly depends on the person i guess most people don't really like talking about their medical history and etc. Yeah i know its stupid to sugar coat issues is the main reason why i mention it. Sorry if i offended you or anything though im not trying to be a jerk.
You never offend me Kevin. You are very protective of your friends, that is a good thing. You were just worried about Omna's feelings and wellbeing. If anything it shows you as being a good friend and not a jerk.

EDIT: to Alacaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar for the 3500th post!
HI,
leg giving out and spasming and pain and weakness all seem like nerve damage or impingement to me. Sciatica can present like that, and what it is, is when the major nerve bundle to your entire leg gets pinched or trapped between parts of your spine, or inside the muscle sheath as it passes through the hip bones. If it's on both legs then you could have a back problem. A good back and nerve specialist can determine the level of the problem with a good exam and history, make sure you tell her or him if you have had any of the following:
weakness in any other part of your body
low back pain - a slipped disc higher up can give you nerve problems downstream
other leg doing same thing, spasms and pain and giving out sorta stuff: symmetry begins in the spine
bowel or bladder problems: it's embarrassing, but these are wired by the same sorts of nerves that go into your legs, and indicate a spinal problem like a disk or nerve pinch.
numbness, tingling, burning anywhere in the skin along your legs. means different type of nerve problem.
bring old x-rays and cat scans and medical chart files with you, or make sure they are available to the specialist AND the radiologist doing any future imaging. If you've had an accident and/or have hardware this will be crucial to know. Also lets them detect any subtle changes like early disk disease by comparing films.
My family has a strong history of disk disease and osteoporosis, i have already had one disk problem and my mother has 4 disks blown and a collapsed vertebra at t11 and cervical spine disease. We have to know about these because doctors don't suspect arthritis, disk disease, or sciatica in young people.
@transgenders in the 'house: City Paper Baltimore has an article of interest this week that I think is oh, about 30 years overdue.
edit: re: clots in legs: often clots will present with aching, dull, swelling, tight feeling in one leg or the other, but sometimes (actually usually) don't have any symptoms so if you think you might be at risk for a clot then talk to your doctor about whether you might need to be screened for it. Actual spasms and legs giving out on you with a venous clot are unusual but everybody's body is a bit different and it is probably within the realm of possibility.
I say you're doing the right thing, and mention that you're on the pill, then go from there. A clot work-up isnt cheap and treatment is long and probably not cheap either. But one thing at a time eh?
try not to worry, you have to do what you can until this all gets straightened out, get ryan to help you with stuff that requires a lot of trucking around, and I'll say a prayer for you to get well soon.
*disclaimer: this post is not a professional medical opinion and should not be taken as such. discuss all this stuff with yr doctor, etc.
@Omna: My Dad said it is probably best not to speculate, and is a little difficult to really be confident about any suggestions.
However, he also said that if it is bone/nerve related (hip feels dislocated, and the spasming) it could be nerve entrapment/impingement. Something like Sciatia (see SDA's post). He also mentioned that most of the possibe explainations for bone/nerve related injuries are unlikely at your age.
He said it may be a developmental issue, in that the nerve structure has grown in an unusual fashion, possibly to accomodate an injury.
Another possibility he offered was a slipped disc in the back. This could affect either one or both hips. If you have injured your back at some stage, this could well be a reality. Again, he says this is unlikely for someone as young as you. (Side note: Despite all the 'because of an injury' suggestions above, if it is muscular in any way, it is much much more likely to be trauma-related. Oh, and it is unlikely to be a clot, unless there is obvious swelling and...see above post!)
That's all I got, hope it helps. SDA's post if far more specific, seeing as I'm only typing what I can remember!
'Fox.
Well, of all the possible things causing this sort of problem, a big clot would be the most potentially dangerous. 's why it's important to mention that you just started this new bc pill. if the doc already has your records that's just fine, but with some of the plans now you have to do your own legwork for record keeping or you risk going in sight unseen and the doc doesn't have any data on you. O_o
i say if you're smart, you will request and keep a complete medical file on yourself including x-rays and copies of lab reports, because who knows when you may have to move, and your files could take weeks to transfer? if you get in an accident or become ill before they get there, you might end up being mis-treated or worse.
I won my 3rd round in the 54 player legacy tournament yay! I was 2-1 against countersliver man that deck can get really savage in a hurry. I am 2-1 for rounds in the tournament overall too.
Whee! I hope you can make it to top 8, Kevin!
Incidentally, I did some trading today, and I got 3 Pernicious Deeds! I know! Now I wanna build a casual, slightly budget Funkbrew (:symw::symb::symg:) deck. Care to help me out?
It seems like today is going to be a good day.
I got a call today and got the test results back, no rabies. I gave Nezumi a huge hug and kiss and a pretzel then aplogized for her having no social time.
Ooh, Javastud and Javababe..
Good news to hear, Sakura. We were worried *huggles*

In news for today.. I didn't take my second driving lesson today--I cancelled, because my sister was a no-show either. This is unfortunate, because unless you cancel 24 hrs in advance, it's an $80 charge. Luckily my paychecks are rolling in one after another, and I've already got some cash in the bank.

Howdy, everyone. I was an hour late getting up again today. I need to stop turning off my alarm. It was kind of an unpleasant day, though I don't feel like going into details.

Aww, that's rough. We'll be thinking about you, hope it works out alright.

@Bullet Witch: Such a neat name and idea for a game. How unfortunate that it wasn't designed well. I want to see more interesting witches in games and tv. We need representation!
@Dreia: I feel for you and wish you the best. Whenever you're ready to talk about it, we're here and willing to listen. Don't worry about feeling selfish, it's part of life, I'd say, and just something you have to go through.

@Sakura: Do you think it'd be easier to go through a gender reassignment in Canada?
By the way, it's great that Nezumi wasn't sick.
@Danica: I'm sorry about your leg, Danica. It must be painful. I'm not sure if that sounds like a blood clot, though. I hope you'll be okay soon. *hugs*

It's interesting how important "small" things can be. I'm glad you shared this with us.

This is interesting because they seem to missing two large issues. Firstly, concluding that your identity is biologically determined still doesn't tell us which aspect of your biology determines this. Secondly, they, like many people, seem to be ignoring the influence that choice and self-perception have on formation of the self, in addition to instinct and conditioning.

Okay so around 5 my friend and I were skating at a dead end street. Its a great place to skate because the land is smooth, and no cars or like maybe 1 once in awhile. We haven't skated since like the 2nd week of january. This guy who lives on the corner across the street from the dead end street on the corner comes out, and starts cursing up a storm calling us *******s and ***gots and saying to get the **** out and a bunch of other stuff. He didn't give us a warning or anything. He calls the cops, for us skating(thats all we were doing) and looks like a retard **** being a word coming out of his mouth like every other word. He starts walking to my friends house so we go down the block to mine. I drop my cards off(he plays magic too) at my house and we go to a park a few blocks away. When we are walking back we see a police van and keep walking, they stop us and ask where we were before here. I tell them we were at the dead end street, and it turns out they were looking for someone else so they let us go. When we go back to my friends dads house he comes down to talk to us. He told us the guy gave him attitude in the beginning but he calmed down. He said he apologized a lot and shouldn't of acted like that. It turns out he has a little girl and apparently our skateboards are loud when we could hear him cursing from down the block. If he came up to us and told us that, and acted like a normal person, not a ****ing barbarian we would of just left and even apologized, but that dude is an ******* and we both have no respect for him [/rant]
I wonder how many words go censored. Back to HW have a good night guys.
Thanks, everyone, for the congrats, and a big thanks to Alacar for an awesome RotW. I had no idea you were going to do all those links, that was a great idea :).
@Omna: Wow, sorry about your leg, that sounds pretty scary. Unfortunately, the closest thing I have to medical experience is 1.5 years of high school chemistry, which unfortunately helps absolutely none. Anyway, I hope you get better and that it is nothing too serious.
@Ripe: I'm sorry about the guy being an *******, but remember to try to look at his side of the story too. The noise from the skateboards could be very annoying to him and his daughter. Plus, I know you probably aren't like this, but the stereotype of skateboarders to many adults at least is that they are all punks that have no respect for elders or the law. So even though I totally agree with you that he could have been much more polite to you, I would just try to at least try to see his perspective.
LATE EDIT: Omg, "The System is Down" is pretty much the best song ever. I've listened to it like 5 times straight, lol. Go to the RotW to listen to it, seriously. It's addicting :p.
@Omna - Sorry to hear about your leg. Hope everything works out for you.

bowel or bladder problems: it's embarrassing, but these are wired by the same sorts of nerves that go into your legs, and indicate a spinal problem like a disk or nerve pinch.
numbness, tingling, burning anywhere in the skin along your legs. means different type of nerve problem.
bring old x-rays and cat scans and medical chart files with you, or make sure they are available to the specialist AND the radiologist doing any future imaging.
Incidentally, I did some trading today, and I got 3 Pernicious Deeds! I know! Now I wanna build a casual, slightly budget Funkbrew (:symw::symb::symg:) deck. Care to help me out?
Also, I'm making a U/B deck with Conspiracy and Didgeridoo..
Thanks! I thought of the links to all the e-mails. I'm a total total TOTAL Homestar Fanboy. Even more than Star Wars.
Ooh, Javastud and Javababe..
Good news to hear, Sakura. We were worried *huggles*
Also, glad you can get some time away to come to terms.
ninja edit: Congrats on 2,000 posts!
Yeah.. it's the little things that make life worth living, FL
Whaaaaaat? Thanks!
Also, I hope you can get that hip taken care of..
Copper has begun design work. Expect a lot of combat trickery, including Ninjutsu and CIP and leaves-play effects. I might even include phasing of all things.

*sniff* You call that playing?
Aww, that's rough. We'll be thinking about you, hope it works out alright.
@strongbad: You go boy, getting Regular of the Week. Evacuation + Eye of the Storm is indeed a neato idea. I also would like support for the ice cream.
That's sweet of you, you little jujube. And what you say of everyone else I agree with.
*gasp!*
Marzipan is totally making Strongbad.
We had to up it for charitable purposes, sugar.
Hooray!
@Lilly: High school is fun, huh?
This is interesting because they seem to missing two large issues. Firstly, concluding that your identity is biologically determined still doesn't tell us which aspect of your biology determines this. Secondly, they, like many people, seem to be ignoring the influence that choice and self-perception have on formation of the self, in addition to instinct and conditioning.
Yeah, I get that. I also hate physical examinations. I strongly dislike having someone who is basically a stranger touching or looking at my body.
I don't really know, but that's what I would have guessed. Thank you for your usual wealth of knowledge and applicably good advice.
That's a neat article, and pretty informative, too. I do think it's good for more people to be educated about the transgender community to reduce all of this mystique and stereotypy that surrounds them/us. Thanks!
@Kevin: Hope you had a great day today. *hugs*
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.

Sure i can help you out with your budget casual funkbrew deck. I just went 2-1 against solidarity with funkbrew against a pretty competent high tide player lol in testing today. @mamelon: you have a great day tommorrow and a great night tonight as well. I was wondering if you will be on aol messenger later tonight its fine if you are not going to be on though. *Hugs back*
Love,
Cecilia
Thanks, I was hyped on my post count the last few days.
And yes Alacar...you will always be a Javastud too me. (Unless you feel more like a Javababe of course )
In some ways it is easier. There are good doctors here and the people are far more accepting overall. I think part of it is still coverred if you live here (not in Ontario though...stupid Mike Harris)
You are always welcome to come visit or even stay with me if you want to.
And that article was really good.
For those that missed it, Sci Fi of the week was up. It got scrolled really fast.
I'm going to see a back specialist on Monday so he may have more of an idea about these things.. But my leg is acting up now, having sat here for a while.. Going to lay down b4 spasms happen....
Will check in later toniht or tmw.... lvoe you all

I'm nominating you for Best Legacy Strategist 2007 when the MTGS Awards pop up. Who's with me?
Sakura: I'm a coffeestud, babe. I'm affirmed in my masculinity and my femininity, and I can safely say that I like the body I'm in. Thanks for the thought
