I think I am going to force someone to name their kid Mise. My lifes duty shall be fulfilled at that point, well I'd still need to mail the bag of dead kittens to the pope. Stupid customs people.
BabyBotKiller...any baby name that has baby killer in it gets my vote.
@ Shenanegans: "Who's on first. What's on second. I don't know on third."
"I DON'T GIVE A DARN!"
"What?"
"I don't give a darn."
"Oh, he's our shortstop."
@ Naming children: Wow, this conversation has almost been going on as long as our boob conversation a while back. A relative of my stepfather named their new baby girl "Ainsly Ayla." So her full name is "Ainsly Ayla Colt." I think I'm going to do the same as Shin's and beat someone with a stick.
I swear, my favorite names of all time must be Dante, Virgil, Marcus, and Usagi. They just kick ass, in my opinion.

You do know Usagi is just Japanese for "rabbit", right? I call my brother's pet rabbit Usagi-kun all the time. Actually, I speak to our pets all the time in Japanese. Is that weird?

Nah, not really. Once you learn the Japanese word for 'cat', every kitty becomes 'Neko-san'
By the way, I thought 'usagi' meant 'hare'?
I remember a character from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles who was called something like that.

Wait, do you have a pet resembling Pero-Pero in any way? Because my girlfriend would kill for one.

I like Usagi as a name, but it is a girls name but sounds better for a guy. Usagi Yojimbo proved that, Usagi Tsukino proved how bad it is as a girls name :-P
@RickCorgan: Oh my god. Someone remembers me from back from my (mainly) lurking days?! You are officially awesome. For anyone wondering, here was one of my very first avatars on the site:
I do have one pet that sort-of resembles Peropero. She's a little black pug. She's about the same size and shape as Peropero, just the wrong color.

Heh, with that avatar, I couldn't not remember you. As you may have noticed by my previous post, my girlfriend is absolutely crazy for him. I'm not even sure she likes KareKano all that much, but fact is she loves the little thing. If you could post a pic of your pet so that I could tease her with it, that would be awesome.
@Usagi topic - Wait, weren't the Soratami supposed to be rabbits of sorts? (Some old Japanese legends on how rabbits inhabited the moon or some such.)
I always thought the word "Soratami" meant "rabbit something". Granted, I'm no japanese expert... yet.

I believe soratami roughly means "sky people". The soratami resemble rabbits because of the old Japanese folktale in which a rabbit lives on the moon, where he makes sweet rice cakes for New Years.
It's sort of like how we have our "Man in the Moon" in America.

Ok, with my two obsessions of Usagi and TMNT being threatened by the ignorant (sorry, no offense meant) I feel I have to go out and make this big speech.
Usagi Yojimbo and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are both Darkhorse comics. Yojimbo isn't apart of Usagi's name, it is his standing as a samurai warrior. Usagi means, in Japanese, means rabbit, hare, or cony. During the latest TMNT series, Usagi was borrowed over as a guest character, and just as well. Usagi can be used as either a female name or a male name, though it is more common as that of a female's, thus creating the common misconception that it is just for females, just as Andie or Jordan in America. Personally, I like Usagi for boys.
Thank you Shin', for applying that link to the true greatness that is Usagi.
Allright guys...I'm finally going to tell you all whats been going on.
Truth be told, I've been so stressed lately over the SAT, which I take this Saturday. And this whole test just got me thinking about colleges and what I'm going to do when I decide what I want to go for. I guess it isnt an excuse and I'm sorry.
I went the Guggenheim today for the Spanish Art exhibit. It was amazing
On kids names, I'm totally with Photon on this one and incidentally found his posts on the matter both articulate and hilarious. The best "bad name" I've ever heard (as opposed to my ultimate favorite one) was bestowed by Mr. and Mrs. First, who were apparently total hippies, upon their son: Safety.
Personally, I say we go with the Native American convention: you earn your name and it describes you. Otherwise your name is pretty much just an arbitrary statement about the mental health of your parents.
Oh, that's sweet. When are you and the rest of your lesbian coven due?
OK, so for the most part this conversation had me stifling quite a bit of laughter, but this had me red-faced and in tears at work. I nearly busted out loud.

@RickCorgan: Ask and ye shall recieve. Here are some pictures of Neeki, our dog, a 6 year old black pug. She is, as Mamelon would say, a nugget. These were taken at Christmas.
Oh, and you see that squarish case thing in the background with the designs on it? From left to right, they are: KuroNeko (from Trigun), Winry, and Edward Elric. The purple one on the bottom corner is Motoko Kusanagi from GITS. Why? Because that thing is my "DVD Folder of Doom" that contains more than 250 anime DVDs. I managed to sneak it into two of the pics.
Hey, all you otaku out there - this is your life. Not only is it for you, it is about you - yes, you with the secret cosplay photos and hentai games stashed away at home, and you over there with a worn thumb from playing too many video games. This is a story by, for, and about the otaku.
It is the story of your average guy, Kanji Sasahara, as he discovers a college anime club, becomes a member, and then hangs out with the seniors in the club. Speaking from experience here - I was that guy. Of all the anime I've watched with the WSU anime club as president, this one was one of the most fun to watch with the group. People were not only laughing, they were pointing at each other - because Genshiken depicts the otaku's conundrums so accurately, it's easy to recognize ourselves in Sasahara and the other characters he meets. From Madarame, the swears-by-hentai megaotaku club president, to the big shy guy that hangs out in the corner, to the prettyboy video-game freak, we've all met one of these people. That's what makes Genshiken fun to watch.
That, of course, and the ridiculous, and oh-so-hilarious situations and discussions that come up at Genshiken meetings. What's the best position for watching anime while making love, for instance? Is making love more fun while cosplaying? These and many, many more hilarious and awkward questions are discussed, as Genshiken pokes fun at the otaku's love life, social life, and everything in between. If you've ever been to an anime club, this one's a must see. Top notch comedic work.
