Wow, that is quite a lot, 'Fox. It reminds me of a saying displayed at my friend's home: "I know God won't give me more challenges than I can handle. I just wish He didn't trust me so much."
A great deal of these situations are beyond your control and you don't really have the option of dealing with them on your own terms. So, my advice would be to do what you can but when you're feeling overwhelmed, recognize that and take a break. Though all these things will certianly be an emotional burden no matter what you do, try not to dwell on the negative emotions and instead focus on what you need to do to get through the situations.
That's the best I got right now. On a lighter note, I agree your FCC card doesn't totally kick butt but I think it's pretty solid. It's simple but flavorful, balanced if a bit on the weak side (which is almost unavoidable with effects like this), and most of all it's not ridiculously overpowered as a good chunk of your competition will likely be.

Once you get used to it, 2% milk isn't that bad. Now, skim milk=water.
Edit: By the way, still waiting on that milk.
I've noticed some recipes on the first post. I know a few basic recipes, if anyone's interested. Sloppy joes, taco salad, milkshakes w/ bananas instead of ice cream and an egg/corned beef hash/potato breakfast thingie.
Edit2: I'm supposed to have a flame thing or something next to Jaya Ballard in my sig, can anyone see it? It won't show on this computer.
First, an explanation of the name. In Japanese, to turn a regular word into a "person" related to that word, you add "shi" to the end. For example, alchemy is "renkinjutsu". To form the word "alchemist", you add "shi" to the end - "renkinjutsushi". Thus "Mushishi" means, roughly translated, "Mushi-ist", or a person who deals with Mushi.
So, what the heck are Mushi?
Mushi are best described as a sort of spiritual or ephemeral bug. They are the lowest form of life on earth, even more primitive than amoebas or the like. They are one step away from being life-energy itself. Only a few people can see Mushi. Of those that can, some go on to become Mushishi - they help others deal with everyday problems caused by the Mushi. The main character in Mushishi, Ginko, is such a person. He travels the country as a sort of mushi doctor or shaman, always knowing the right remedy or curative to help people with their mushi problems. Mushishi also study the mushi, for there are as many kinds of mushi as there are types of insects. Some are helpful to humans, and some are harmful - just like any other living creature.
Mushishi is all about the storytelling. There is no overarching plot. There is not very much action, and in some episodes relatively little happens at all. Mushishi feels very much like it is comprised of several connected short stories, and it is the quality of these stories that drives the show. There was a very unique imagination at work in coming up with the world of Mushishi, and seeing this world explored is utterly fascinating. Perhaps this is because the world is so similar to our own, and yet so very different. If you like curling up in front of the fire with a good story, or just enjoy the thought of exploring an alternate world, you'll surely find Mushishi enjoyable.
I was thinking more or less the same thing 'Fox. This round doesn't have a lot of options for really balanced cards. I tried my best with mine but I wouldn't be surprised if it's STILL too weak (or even the flip side - overpowerful). And there's no way I'm doing stuff like Affinity for *color*, enchantments, Zombies, or Goblins. All of those are too easily broken.
On the serious side, I'm sorry to see that your life seems to be a complete mess. Times like that are tough and I can't really say much else than good luck with dealing with the situation and your classes that you may have coming up at the same time...
Milk: I prefer 2% actually. I do drink whole tho and mix it up for health reasons (aka I burn up too much fat).
Blane: Nope no flame thing. Might wanna check the vbcode?
@Shadowfox:
Best of luck in keeping up with all that stuff. It can't be easy.
Well, I'm feeling a bit better today. I made it in to work for a few hours, and I don't have a fever anymore. I still have a bit of sinus drainage and a cough, and feel like I desperately need sleep, but other than that, I feel a lot better. Now, let's see if I can color in Alacar's character properly. Oh, and hey, Alacar, would you mind posting that request in my shop in the av/sig forums? It counts towards my fulfilled requests per month then.
Good day Magic Coffeehouse. How is everybody? Today is the day of my birth, so I need some coffeehouse coffee cake. I've been making my own set based off of the people I know in life. Perhaps later I'll show you all some rough drafts.
If anyone feels up to it and knows some Japanese can someone translate the word "paradox" for me? And yes it's for FCC. I think I have an idea for this that works but I'm scared of using it after the last few horrible entries of mine.
Kraj: Congrats on the FCC. I might actually join this month, see what happens. Even though I suck at card creation.
FCC: Can someone explain to me exactly how it works? So I don't make a complete fool of myself?
Glamdring: Happy Birthday, man. How old are you this year?
Mr. Stuff: Sorry to hear that you are feeling ill. Get better soon, my friend.
Omna: Glad to hear that you have 'net access. It'd supremely suck if you weren't around with us as things come up to be celebrated.
Mushishi: Ooh, I like the sound of that. That's an anime that would be right up my alley. I might have to download that one.
Anime: Speaking of, I've burned over 20 disks with anime over the last few days, freeing up my external HD for more. Unfortunately, with most of my shows, I'm only getting 3 or so episodes per disk. Got 5 per disk, or so, with Chobits, but that was still a lot of disks.
@ Shin': You quoted me, but said nothing about it.
@ Nai: I'm seventeen today.
@ Mr. Stuff: Looks like an odd anime. I mean, just from the picture with the pink smoke. Looks a little odd from my point of view.
Congrats to Kraj for winning FCC February, and a perfect score from one judge.
Happy Birthday Glam.
Nai: FCC, every month there are four rounds. Each round has different requirements that they have to build their card around. One is a hard set rule, and two others are for bonus points. In the first round, there is now a large pool of players and an assigned judge scores all the cards. The top 3 (thats the number it was last month at least.) from each judge's group get to move on. In the next two rounds, the remaining players are divided into 1 vs. 1 matches that get assigned to judges. They are scored against each other, and the winner moves on. In the last round (where the requirements are generally the most difficult to build a card around) each remaining player makes a card (usually there are around 10) and the judges each score all of them. The player with the highest score wins the round.
Is that helpful?

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
@Mr. Stuff: Hoping your feeling better soon. thanks for taking a few moments to gather your strength and posting the Anime. It looks a bit different and quite interesting. Sort of like the elementalist, a paranormal specialist who deals with the major and minor nature elementals, which have varying and sometimes significant powers but often very immature and rudimentary personality structures. (As opposed to faeries, genii, or ancestral spirits, who have essentially very human qualities, and in some cases, their own society or allegiance to a spiritual hierarchy.)
I'm really wiped out today. Been struggling with sinus problems this week and I suspect my cold medicine is making it worse. It has some sort of decongestant in it that wires me up, and then when it wears off, I feel drowsy and "crash" like a coke user coming down off a bender. Then my nose is stuffed up again, and I don't breathe well...vicious cycle here, folks.
It's been a warm and damp winter and I suppose that's not helping. There ought to be a law against mold in winter.
Speaking of bad winter, how are all of you west of the Mississippi dealing with storms and rain/snow? My birthplace and my former hometown both got over a foot of snow since last night. Joyd, Buzz, I know you guys are in MN and struggling.
Janus: Enjoy Interstella! You'll love it I'm sure.
Absolutely, Interstella was awesome!
Ah, by the way, I've been thinking about creating a new banner and avatar again, seeing as how the new month has come. Could I please bother you to lend me a hand?
Also, I like that sketch you posted. Did you make it?
@janus: thank you! Have a great day and best wishes to you always janus! Also great to see you posting in the coffeehouse again and also seeing you doing well. Welcome back to the coffeehouse we all missed you dearly.
Also i want to bring a topic to the coffeehouse, the past 2 months I've been really depressed thinking about Death. How i'm going to die one day, and how it just might be the end of me, forever. I know there's what-his-name's 5 steps in confronting death but it's immature of me to fear something that is most likely over 50 years away. I know all religions point to things beyond death, but I believe that religion was created in order to cope with the unknown things in life, and that belief keeps me from religions whom i doubt. But i was thinking also that when we die, our minds still function because they rely on electricity, we can't breathe or talk or all definitions of being alive, but our mind still stays 'on' for a week or so after we die. One of my theories is that when we die, our senses cease hampering our brains function and we enter a 'dream' where anything is possible. That's where you get those stories of people who have died and then were revived (either in surgery or some other thing) and they recall heaven or other such things. But even that ends eventually, but i was wondering if the sense of time, which governs all things, also leaves us and as we are 'dead' our mind stays constant, or at least our 'soul' that which makes us unique simply stays in one moment in time exploring the new vistas of imagination. Maybe thats all dumb in incorrect, but I'm having trouble sleeping and dealing with my life thinking about how i will die one day and what may or may not happen afterwards.
... what's most important is LIFE, not death. I'll worry about what happens after I die when I'm dead. Until then, I plan to live forever. Get me?
I personally don't believe that there's anything there for us after death, I believe that we simply cease to exist (not that I wouldn't mind being proven wrong when my time comes).
Given the thoughts above, I have come to formulate the following: We exist here and now. We have been given this one shot at life to do with as we wish, so I for one will use it to have as much fun as I can, while making sure that others have as much fun as they can as well
@ BuzzDX:

If I may give you a word of advice: If you feel like you're drowning, get out of the water. Seriously, I'm not kidding. You won't be any good to anyone else if you can't help yourself first.
That goes for the possibility of your parents' divorce as well. If you feel that you need to, take a step back to regain yourself. My parents divorced six (or so) years ago, so I have some experience as to how tough it can be.
If it does go wrong, and I truly hope for you that it won't, talk to your parents. Try to understand why things happened the way they did and make sure that you hear both sides of the story, assuming that you haven't already.
I wish you good luck and hope that things will make a turn for the better...

Nai, KK pretty much covered it all. As far as fool-making goes, well we see plenty of really awful submissions so it's not like you have to be some elite designer to participate. It's just supposed to be fun. That said, be aware each judge has a different style. Some will deduct points will little explanation; some provide detailed feedback. Some will be tactful, poiting out what you did right as well as wrong, some will really let you have it if they don't like the card. Just be prepared.

Yeah, designing an affinity card seems more like a third round round-requirement to me. Pretty challenging. It also hurts that the first round is suddenly a blood bath of sorts >.<

Well the new first round format isn't all that bad. I mean, before 5 people advanced and now it's 3; not a huge difference. Plus, no more skating through the first round because your opponent didn't show, which happened constantly.

Sorry I don't have much to contribute, I miss about a couple pages everytime I post.
OK Everyone I need advice. I need to know what i should do as I REALLY don't know and do value most of your opinions very well.
Me and my ex hasn't talked to each other in over a week but I still do love her. Should I:
-) Email her and wish her luck in her future and say a final good bye
-) Email her all pissed
-) Leave a comment on her Myspace about how I miss her
-) Same as above but say goodbye and then remove any way to contact her on my side
-) Do nothing and hope
-) Do nothing and start looking/enjoying the single hood
-) Write in
In truth I am not sure how much she still feels or if she even loves me anymore... But its killing me that a perfect relationship ended with no real discussion...
Also if I should give up any ideas how I can start to heal my mental wounds...
Any help be thankfull.
Hope everyone else is fine today and Mr. Stuff feel better...Alot of my firends are sick as well.
Hey everyone how you doing, sorry i havent been able to partiacpte in this and the pre-con league, its mostly because iv'e been sick the last couple of days its stinks now i have all the extra work to do over the weekend so how is everyone?
Should I:

In my opinion, (which is a take it or leave it thing.) You should not email her all pissed. I'd try the start looking/enjoying the single hood option, I'm not sure if you should do nothing or tell her how you feel in some way. Just go with what you feel is right.
HMMMMMMMM... I want a chocolate milk... (real-life, I actually have it so no service is necessary ;))

... Could put the words 'Read VG Cats' on the left side of the banner and the words 'Watch Bleach' on the right side (using a smaller font for 'read' and 'watch' respectively).
I plan on making a multilink banner

@ everybody else: Thanks for the support. Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have shaken this thing.
I'm letting my brother on now. Later.
Yeah, designing an affinity card seems more like a third round round-requirement to me. Pretty challenging. It also hurts that the first round is suddenly a blood bath of sorts >.<
I hope you feel better soon too Mr. Stuff :).

Also, Mr. Stuff, that's an awesome coloring job.

That's ok. I still have some water left over from last time.

Sorry I don't have much to contribute, I miss about a couple pages everytime I post.

HMMMMMMMM... I want a chocolate milk... (real-life, I actually have it so no service is necessary ;))
