I'm sorry, but I'm all full up. You can always go on the waiting list.
I may occassionally pluck people off of the waiting list to play NPCs and the like. Freaking Elves is generally more RP centered than the other campaigns- stats exist almost primarily to give characters something to talk about.
Yes please. Ironically if I had gotten my act together and got the books i needed to make my character, I would likely have been on time. I have a decent character idea, actually one I have had for a while. Actually two ideas. One is a cold and calculating Human Scout (love that class) who's home village is believed to have been burned by elvish bandits (was actually Drow, but close enough), the second is a self loathing Half Elf (if you would allow it) who punishes, immolates, and torturs herself because she feels tainted and despises her elf heritage.
Morning everyone! How is everyone doing today? As I'm sure everyone else is, I'm a little tired, but other than that, pretty good. I'm nearing the end of DQ8, so I'll probably finish that up and break down and play some FFT again. I love that game. But, I kinda dislike Sony since they are going to be porting it to the PSP. I'll rom it or something. Or steal a PSP. That's how much I love this game.
I also need to watch X-Men 3, so I can delete it off my computer and start downloading some Anime. Have a nice day!

I <3 FFT myself. I actually ruined it for most of my friends by breaking it really bad. I had an army of all Dancers with my main character as a Bard by the end of the first chapter. Made the game uber easy. 1 Dancer doing the dance with random ailments, rest doing Wiznadius, Bard healing. When everyone flies or teleports it is even stupider...nobody can hurt you.
It is still in my top 10 for RPG/Strategy games.
I actually like Tactics Ogre (the original SNES/PS1 version) the best, much more balanced game. That and Langrisser were the games I learned Japanese on.
Watch X3 just so you can delete it...best reason to watch a movie ever. Personally I liked X3 though.
@KK: The card has a good ability, but I agree with Yukora in that he is overcosted. Make him a 6/6 at least, maybe even a 7/7, but 6/4 is a little...wimpy for 10cc.
@BuzzDX: Hey, at least ROMing makes the world go 'round.
So apparently I've lost my spark when it comes to playing Magic. Of the last 6 matches I've played I have lost them all. I dunno why it is, but MWS just hates me or I just can't pull off a win. So I'm gonna stop playing MWS for a little while. At least until I get more packs for the precon league.
KoolKoal: Remember--Akroma's 8 mana. So he'll have to match her in awesomeness.

Well, I mean that in the sense that its been sitting on my computer for the longest time and I've never gotten around to watching it.
As for FFT, its one of my favorite games of all time. I have 2 files at the moment: 1, which is my good file with maxed out characters who have mastered every job class (Some aren't completely mastered because I didn't take that character into the battle where you can get Zodiac). The other slot, is the one I use for Straight Character Challenges. If you don't know what that is, its basically what you described with your Dancers & Bard. You basically play through the whole game with 5 characters, no specials, Ramza excluded of course and they all have to be the same job class. They also are only allowed to use skills from that class. It gives the game a nice bit of challenge. I've already done Lancer, Ninja, Geomancer, and perhaps Archer. I can't remember if I ever got past Wiegraf....I have a monk one going from whenever I last played, but I'm probably going to get rid of it and start another one.
The best way to solve this problem is with a DVD burner and a stack of DVD+Rs. You'll never want for hard drive space again.
Alternatively, you can get a bigger hard drive. You can't usually take a hard drive with you, though, so DVDs are better for traveling.
I still have plenty of hard drive space. Or I should at least. As for a bigger HD, I could always do that. Or, do what my brother suggested and get an external one to store my valuable files in case of un-removable viruses or reformatting.

awww poor alacar! *hugs* well i lost to shin' last night 3 times in a row while playing threshold gro of course those jotun grunts really punishes threshold since it takes away my threshold ability which makes my clock tick. Shin's UW fish deck also is better then the one that almost made top 8 out of a 108 legacy player tournament so i guess i don't feel too bad. They were all pretty good games though. See you all soon! Okay folks, I've delayed this long enough. It's time for a Game of the Week. This one's a classic.
Who remembers this classic game? I hear it was an arcade game before it ever came to consoles, but I never played it then. Time for the game flashback!
So I was around... I don't know, seven or eight when I got my NES. That's the Nintendo Entertainment System for those that follow such things but are unsavvy with abreviations. For those even more unfamiliar with old games, the NES was that old grey brick of a system that usually required you to blow on the games and then pound the top of the system until they worked. It's the original Nintendo.
For those of you STILL out of the loop, here's a picture of an NES.
And this is the game cartridges, Bubble Bobble style:
I got the game Bubble Bobble for the system way back when (as well as Battle Chess and Gauntlet 4) and played it relentlessly with friends in the neighborhood. Regardless of how hard we played, though, we could never beat it. Flash forwards a good nine years and you have me at my uncle's house, checking out his PS2 collection. I saw a classic video game anthology which included, to my surprise, Bubble Bobble! Since I had never beaten it, I went ahead and did just that. And got the bad ending. Then my uncle and I played another hour and a half together, beat it, got the good ending, and rejoiced. Good times.
Bubble Bobble is indeed a classic game. For those powerhousers of you, this game doesn't have fantastic graphics. The music isn't a big deal, there's no special moves, and the gameplay is simple. However, that's simply what makes it great.
Graphics are the old style. You know, those squares that move around on screen? Gigantic pixels? You get the idea. But if you don't, here's a screenie for you.
They weren't bad graphics for the time. That's really all you could do with the systems back then. But you can plainly see Bub and Bob (those green and blue dinosaurs there), their bubbles, and their enemies. You can also see the arcade roots in the game.
So that's it for graphics. You got yourself a screenshot and you can see for yourself. (Can you tell I'm being lazy today?) Sound was just about the same. One song repeated ad nauseum for 99 levels, which could take up to an hour and a half or more. Yeah, it's like that. We're also talking those electronic-sounding 8-bit sounds. And because I'm going to continue to be lazy today, here is a link to a youtube video of a rather well done version of the song. Other than the music, the sound effects were good for the time. You had sounds for jumping, for bubbling, for popping bubbles, and a few other actions. Hey, we're talking over 10 years ago. This is good stuff.
Storyline? Not much. As far as I was able to tell, Bub and Bob were in love with two girls, the girls got stolen by some big bad dude, and Bub and Bob had to chase after them. Keep in mind, Dinosaur men, human ladies. I don't want to get into that. That's all the story we got.
Sounds pretty basic, eh? You're right, it was. The reason this game sticks in the mind of so many is due to the simplistic and addicting gameplay.
See, by pressing one of the buttons (B, I believe), you shot out a bubble at an enemy. If it connected, you'd have captured the enemy. Then they'll float around while you take out the rest. If you pop the bubble, or if you get all the enemies, the enemies turn into food which you can collect for points. You could also jump and move around the simple levels to access enemies, food, or other goodies.
Simple, no? There was some add-ons to vary things up. Random items would pop here and there on the levels, worth points if you collect them. There were 'water bubbles' which made water splash down the levels and carry away any enemy in its way, acting like a mass bubble. There were lightning bubbles, which shot out lightning towards the center of the screen when popped and would annihilate enemies. There was also the 'letters', which I can't for the life of me recall what they do.
The game wasn't THAT simple, though. There was an un-shown time limit in the game. Take too long to beat a level (past around level 10 or so), and some ghost whale thing (MOBY DICK!) would show up. The music would turn gloomy for a few seconds before speeding up rapidly. That's because the whale would chase you down and touch you to kill you. Ouch, eh? You get 3 lives in this game, and you have 99 levels. That's a bad thing.
Time limits and many enemies made up your opponents in this game. Not to mention you had 3 lives to go 99 levels. Oh, did I mention co-op? Yes, you had that too. 98 levels of repetative music and bubble-blowing action until level 99...
Where you fight one of the most annoying bosses in gaming existance.
But that's for you to find out. A word of advice, my friend. Find yourself a copy, however you do so, and play with a friend. That's the only true way to get the 'good' ending.
"So Nai, what's the draw of this game?" you might ask. Yes, the music is repetative, the graphics are so three generations ago, the gameplay is even simpler than Mario, and the game is long. But that's just the beauty of it. That's a game that's lasted the ages.
If you don't believe me, you can go do a google search for yourself. There are whole websites dedicated to the game. Bub and Bob got a sequel (that I never got to play). You'll also recognize the two of them from the Bust-A-Move games. That's right, those are the same dinos. They've also got some 3rd party 3D version, several sequals on various systems with various graphical capabilities, more remakes online than I can count, PLUS a Nintedo DS version. Can you beat that?
That's some real dedication to a title. Replayability helps.
Final score? Let's give the two a round of applause; Bub and Bob get 8/10 on my chart. If it was a more recent game, with the graphics I've already graded on in games like Gears of War, and sound from Twilight Princess, it could have gotten full marks or more.
I screwed up in that first Machinehead match...If I had not forgotten my upkeep I would have won.
Think I need to stick some Ronom Unicorns orsimilar in the sideboard actually...didn't expect the Dystopia and I am sure other enchantments may prove to be a pain.
heh heh... yeah you should always expect anything possible thats why i build my sideboard as general as possible. Well the first game i thought wouldve gone either way because you know i did have 2 nantuko shades in my hand so obviously i could've done something about your grunt. I also had 3 terminates in my sideboard as well. I am usually pretty good at setting up an general sideboard which is usually better then more specific sideboards. Although i usually try to have at least 3 sideboard cards specifically for goblins and 2 sideboard cards specifically for goblins and threshold and any other aggro deck in the metagame.
A-ha! Now that makes sense. Honestly, pretty much the only contact with Tneill I had was in Gaymers and she was always pleasant, so I've been a little curious for quite some time what the hubub was about. The couple threads involving her I looked at when she was banned looked to me like she was more the victim of drama than the cause. While I can understand people not appreciating being lied to, when you think about it does it really matter who any of us truly are or does it matter how we interact on these boards? It seemed to me even if everyone was right that Tneill was actually a guy, their reaction was way overboard.
However, knowing that s/he was involved in ...inappropriate... activities puts a whole new perspective on the situation. It makes a lot more sense now.
Yes . . . I think all the various accounts and personalities she tried to manifest on this forum were what really took it over the top in the end, but I know a big reason some people took offense at her was because of some kind of stuff going on via PMs, etc . . .
I mean, seriously. Lying about yourself is hardly a bannable offense. This is the internet.
Not at all. It's sweet of you to say!
I know it. It's not creepy for me to talk about guys together, because unlike most girls who entertain that pseudo-voyeuristic notion, I actually know it firsthand.

@mamelon: I definetly agree with kraj your not immature at all for relationships. Thank you guys, I'm glad that you think so. I suppose time will tell. I still see myself as not being very suited for that kind of relationship, but that may be because I'm not very used to the idea. I am afraid that I might be too much on the romantic side.
Quote from Alacar »
And I don't think you're too immature for a relationship--you've just got a lot going on right now, I think, and you need to be secure with yourself before you devote yourself toward anyone else.
That's probably it, mostly.

I don't know if you were trying to be insulting, but it seemed like it could have been taken that way, just to let you know.
Yes, Kevin is very sweet and very sincere. We all love him.

Hell. Yes.
I love FF Tactics. I used to pull similar tricks, where I'd get to level 50 by the end of chapter one and steamroll through story battles with unnecessarily strong Priests and Oracles - or better yet, using Math Skill. Of course Dancer and Bard are always delightful additions to any party, especially in battles where enemies are vulnerable to status conditions. A trick I liked to pull was to dance Slow Dance and sing Speed Song at the same time.
One my familiar tactics was to use someone with Punch Art, gather everyone around that person on a flat space, use Chakra every turn, and have the sourrounding characters form an immovable formation slinging magic from all sides and never running out of MP.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
I mainly designed it to beat the main three, mind you alot of the tech meta cards also hit other similar strategies as well. I may have trouble vs Your Machinehead...but I also never sideboarded. The Discard didn't hurt very much mind you.

Well i never said that the discard hurt your deck and sorry i thought you sideboarded so thats why i sideboarded and I thought you wanted to test so thats why i sideboarded or else I wouldn't see a point to do playtesting. Although there has been a good amount of games in which i never bothered sideboarding like for the faerie stompy deck for example.
I just played a few long, drawn out matches with Joyd, but that's what Orzhov does to you. I lost 1-2, due to Souls of the Faultless that I couldn't punch through without killing myself. I did manage to get a 16/16 grave-troll out, though, and I swung once for the kill with my super secret g/b/r tech:
I'm frazzled out of my mind from staring at a computer screen for so long. I need food badly [/gauntlet]. I made a lot of play mistakes in that last game because of mental fatigue.
@Nai: Bubble Bobble! I have music from this game on my hard drive. Soooo good!
I admit, I was really lazy when choosing that one, since I had one hell of a headache. Because of that... I'm considering doing a second, minor GotW, both to make up for lost time and for me being lazy. Any opinions on if I should do this?

*huggles* Yeah.. for some reason I can't win with my Domain deck.. it's not fair. It's a good deck, it just needs better cards than what it has.
I don't really think so. It's probably just a run of bad luck; when I played you, it wasn't like you were making obvious play errors (though it's hard for me to judge, since I'm not the world's most technical player; I do a lot of things on gut.) It's also possible that the deck, in it's current state, is just weaker than a lot of the field.
I just played a few long, drawn out matches with Joyd, but that's what Orzhov does to you.
That's my least favorite part of my deck; it's slow as hell. When it works, it works by mucking up the ground and then slowly winning with small fliers or worse, Agent of Masks or Orzhova, Church of Deals. There's just no way that that happens quickly.
Bubble Bobble was indeed the bomb. I never had that copy of the cartridge tho... mine had a black label just like the title screen looks. Probably a second edition. But you had one fact wrong. There's more than 99 levels. There are in fact 159 levels to play. That is if you can do the special thing that lets you skip to the "secret" part of the game. THAT'S what was so good about the game. After all the fighting to get to 90-something you had to do something more just to get the good stuff. If you haven't played it I won't go thru that but it was indeed fun tho it took me time to warm up to when i was small.
Edit:

This is my theory on that as I've told Alacar already. I've actually bought and played with that deck when it came out and it was really really bad because it was always too slow even compared to other precons of that era. I did find tho that you could actually make it stronger and when you did it became a nice little powerhouse with a lot of little tricks up its sleeve depending on what you had. I expect it's even MORE tricky if built right these days.

So ends my "Lazy Nai" Game of the Week.

heh heh... yeah you should always expect anything possible thats why i build my sideboard as general as possible.

Cecilia
Yes . .
I know it. It's not creepy for me to talk about guys together, because unlike most girls who entertain that pseudo-voyeuristic notion, I actually know it firsthand.
Thank you guys, I'm glad that you think so. I suppose time will tell. I still see myself as not being very suited for that kind of relationship, but that may be because I'm not very used to the idea. I am afraid that I might be too much on the romantic side.
That's probably it, mostly.
Yes, Kevin is very sweet and very sincere. We all love him.
I'm well, thank you.
I feel the same.
SnoopDogg, please don't feel a need to censor yourself here.
I feel your pain, Alacar. That happened to me on MWS, too. I found I do pretty well overall with real cards, but I recall a time when I was playing on MWs a lot and losing 20 games in a row. *hugs*
Hell.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.

@Nai: Good game. GOOOOOOOOOOD game. The old NES games truly are some of the best games ever.
NINJA EDIT: WOAH!! Sarnath'd by another long mamelon post, of course. Hi Mamelon!
Love,
Cecilia

I'm frazzled out of my mind from staring at a computer screen for so long. I need food badly [/gauntlet]. I made a lot of play mistakes in that last game because of mental fatigue.
@Nai: Bubble Bobble! I have music from this game on my hard drive. Soooo good!
I'll be off for a little while. I gotta go run my wrist under some warm water since I've been playing Stepmania and FFR all day.
My helpdesk should you need me.
I <3 Bubble Bobble. I think it's fine.
I wish I could run over to Subway, but if I leave the building the doors will lock behind me. I'm still waiting on Mushishi... T__T
Um.. this isn't making me laugh.

That's my least favorite part of my deck; it's slow as hell. When it works, it works by mucking up the ground and then slowly winning with small fliers or worse, Agent of Masks or Orzhova, Church of Deals. There's just no way that that happens quickly.
