Dude, love always sucks when it's not fully reciprocated.
Niv, I'm really lazy, so I don't think I'll free-draw anything for this contest. I Photoshoped Kuro's (from Tsubasa) head on Niv-Mizzet's body, but I don't know how to upload the image.
Help?
Monday=School, right? It's like -25 F outside. Not much warmer inside. Everyone's pissed because half of the other schools in the area are closed, but we're still open. 5 minutes into first hour, the principal comes over the intercom and lets us go because the boiler is broken. There's this uproar from every classroom, and the whole school must have been yelling in joy, including the teachers.
Man, that was sweet.
To be honest, I have no idea where that is, but I'll assume that it's close to "the wrist."
This is only our second snow day all year, and the first since school started back up again.
I sure hope we get some more, especially after ski season ends...So I really don't have to do anything!
lol. we're over by Coast Guard City USA, on the west coast :D. We had one snow day this year to, but the retarded super intendent person made it land on a records day
Hey! I'm back! Sorry that I've been gone for so long, my internet connection completely crapped out.
But I'm back! And I'm totally lovin' the solid PC drafting!;)
I don't feel like reading every single page that has been added since my last visit... so... what's new?
Edit: It pains me to say, but, my noobish friend (who did horribly better than me at the prerelease...) should probably be moved to friends... I don't believe that he intends to be here on any regular basis.
I don't feel like reading every single page that has been added since my last visit... so... what's new?
I think we're talking about the cold weather, Planar Chaos, and drafting. The weather hear has been very cold. Here being Minnesota, as you can read underneath my name. I drive an hour to school twice a week and tomorrow we're supposed to get more snow, which will make it an interesting drive!
That reminds me of my friend who built Solar Pox...and proxied most of the lands.
I think he owns one copy of Flagstones and three copies of Godless Shrine. That's it. The Gemstone Mines, Watery Graves, and the rest of 'em are proxies.
When he gets some ***/Damnations, that deck will be ridiculous.
So do you not like proxies? Myself, I prefer to play w/o proxies, but nonetheless I play with em.
Prepare for a rant. I think the thing I like the least about Magic is the amount of money you have to put into it to be able to play competitively. Especially in T2, you really need to have like 500 invested in your collection. And, every year or so half of your collection becomes obsolete and you need to reinvest. I know Wizards is a business and thats the way things work, but it doesn't have to be. I prefer the older formats where cards retain their value and don't rotate.
Back to proxies... When I play, I'm trying to play competitively. I'm trying to make myself a better player and rigorously test my deck vs. others trying to do the same. In order to do this, I think proxies are necessary. Certainly, I don't have the money to invest in everything I want to playtest. I prefer to playtest first and then purchase will actually go into my deck.
But, I've been given alot of grief for this. Many of the games I've played have ended with my opponents saying, "F***ing proxies" or a variation. As if somehow the fact that I didn't own the cards or am not as rich as some of my friends should cheapen my win.
I can understand how people who have invested a large amount of money into their collections might be upset about losing someone who beats them with proxies. But, it isn't the fault of the person who proxied. The person who invested so much money into their collection feels like he should be able to win as a result of this. And when he doesn't, its frustrating. Add on to that losing to someone who hasn't put in as much money. Thats where the problem lies. Perhaps the person regrets spending his money and is taking his frustration out on his opponent?
Segue into political rant. Ah, I hate money. I really believe capitalism is not the way to go. I wish Wizards were not a business. It is not expensive to make the cards. It would not be expensive to distribute them to those that want them. They could stop printing sets which contain 75% stuff that will never see play outside of limited. If you take out the drive to make money, marketing, etc., IMO we'd have a much better experience as magic players. Just imagine the ramifications... Well that ends my rant. hmmm
Niv, I think maybe you should crop some of the image to cut out much of the negative space. Cool pic though!
@bardu's rant: Well, I think the answer is to either play limited to get your cards or to to buy only singles of cards that you are actually going to use.
I think proxies are fine if you're just using them to test your decks before you actually have the cards. I do this to see what decks, and / or what cards I am going to play. This makes it much less expensive to come up with the perfect (yeah right) deck.
However I do agree that drafting to get stuff is the best way to go.;)

I let my friends play with proxies if they want, and I even have a few proxies myself (Eye of the Storm, since I don't want to spend money on any). It's just that when you proxy a good quarter of your deck, it's kind of annoying.
Magic would not be nearly as much fun without drafting. Drafting forces you to make clutch decisions, learn from your mistakes as quickly as possible, and adapt continuously.
Funny enough, I got a warning for spamming the old clan thread. Should I apologize or just make sure not to do it ever again?

Don't worry about it so much. Just don't do it, and things will be good.
Drafting does make players much better. It teaches them to make good deckbuilding decisions, to analyze the board, and (sometimes) get themselves out of really bad situations. It's what made me as great as I am today. Alright fine, as good as I was yesterday, today my playing is all... wonky.

Quoted for ridiculosity.
At lunch, we play bridge. This is because random people we don't even know have been known to steal Magic cards at every possible opportunity. They leave normal cards alone because those cards are not as interesting, I guess.

Yeah, my old girlfriend didn't and probably never will play. However at any chance she gets, she'll run off with cards straight from my library, sometimes even my hand. This makes me sad. One time (I was playing Dralnu against my friend who was just about to go off with Dragonstorm) she took a Rewind right out of my hand. He didn't believe that it was Rewind, so I was screwed. I didn't get it back (I did, however get the sleeve right away...?) for days.

Is this some kind of vengeance for some viletravesty?
EDIT: I mean relationship issues that have yet to be resolved.
lol, i used to play magic inside my middle school, but nobody ever stole anything. Heck, we played tons of card games there. Magic, star wars ccg, star wars tcg, any game we could get our hands on. We even played warhammer 40k a few times, but then found it was WAY too hard to transport models to and from school without some serious breakage.
I just got Dawn of War for my comp... It rocks. Thats why i havnt been on much, lol. Anybody else get any funtastic games?

Yeah, when I was in middle school, we played all the time too. We tried during the study hall and the teacher didn't like that, so he asked us to bring him all the cards. We put the real cards away and gave him all our basic land. He never did give those cards back, though.

I hate to barge into this clan, but I come asking you a question speediestban.
I remember (it was quite a while back) that i seen your very name post something in the trade forum that was full of profanity and the banner said very nicely "**** the Mods"
Was your account jacked? I am in no way accusing you of this, but i remember your name and avvy very clearly and had always wondered

To the best of my knowledge, his account was hacked, he talked to Sneaks(?), was given permission to return, left MTGS only to return a few months later (that would be now;)).

hey every one. hows life goin? im doing very well. im trying to work on a good deck that i think will be better then normal Walk of the Aeons.dec mine is Izzet time yet. its a deck that i was shuned from the boards and told i didnt know the meaning of the deck. i feel very strongly on this deck and feel that it may be better even the D-Storm which is currently my reginals deck. here is the deck help me guys this is my last chance at this deck.
as you can see the deck is based on walk and Form of the dragon the original list i will admit didnt run that as a combo it was more or less smash face and take extra turns and using Chronozoa this deck was very good but not good enough. so please my fellow Izzets help me.

So your win condition is obv walking the aeons while you are a dragon? Good idea, but seems really slow. I'll take a better look in a little while (I swear it).
By the way; has anyone seen TonyCR?

I haven't tested your deck or anything, but from an initial glance, it looks really slow. Even if you get your mana acceleration, I don't think you can reliably win without a third (or quicker) turn Form. When do you usually stabilize the board with that deck?

BTW, you used that semicolon improperly; semicolons are only supposed to separate complete clauses, and "By the way" is not a complete clause by any stretch of the imagination.
