I'm sure that the record will be broken. This set has me even more excited than Time Spiral, what with the screwing over of the color wheel and clones of old cards.
Also, my dad is OK. His surgery went well, and he'll be back tomorrow from the hospital. He needs a few weeks to recover completely, though.

I have a feeling you're right. And, yes, I'm also excited about Planar Chaos.
Stange weather we're having here. Temperature has reached 10 C (50 F). And it's going to be like this for the next two or three days.

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
It's so bloody hot here. 35 degrees Celsius yesterday. And 27 in the middle of the night.
Today we're moving house. I won't get on much, cause we won't have an internet connection at our new house for a few days, but I'll try and get on on Dad's PC.
"Hello! I've come to serenade you. I can't play guitar. I can't play this accordion either, but I thought it'd be less obvious."

@Spangle and Moss: Global warming sucks, don't it? Here in New York we're getting the same sort of weather that Moss Elemental's getting from wherever he is in Canada: 50 degrees F and no snow. The word I hate hearing the most in the winter is "mild." I've been hearing it about winters since '96, the last blizzard that will probably ever happen.
@loran: Another loss for the Isles at the hands of the Devils... but you guys played significantly better than last time. NJ's defense played horribly, and that delay of game penalty was not necessary at the end. Thank God that they've got Brodeur.
Also, six more days until I see the Devils at New Jersey! They're playing the St. Louis Blues on the 10th. It'll be the fifth Devils game that I've ever been to. The team's record for games I've attended is 1-1-1-1 (wins-losses-ties-OT losses).
@The voting: I think we have to come with a consensus as a group first... it doesn't matter who posts there.
Well, I'm just here to complain, so don't mind me.
Anyways I just got fired (along with the entire kitchen), my parents made me let my brother use my car now it's got a blown head gasket. School doesn't start 'til the 16th and I'm going to need to find a new job and a new car by then, but I can't go anywhere without getting a ride. Also note that none of my friends live on the same side of town or have a car.

Man, that sucks.
Anyway, what do you all think about the new layout thing? Personally I like it a lot, it looks very cool.
@Ximbad: That is ultimate suck. I'm sorry to hear that about you. Hope you can find another job soon.
@The new layout: I think it's good, since the original layout (except for the logo) looked a little plain. This adds some much-needed uniqueness to the site. The logo looks like an illustration for a real Magic card too, so that adds to the site's mystique.
Nothing doing for me today. If I weren't going out to dinner with my mom tonight, I'd probably be at the FNM at the card shop in NYC. It's Sealed format so you don't have to bring a deck. I'm planning to meet two Coffeehouse regulars tomorrow or sometime in the near future.
@Ximbad: That's gotta suck. You at least have public transit available nearby, right?
At least it's not out here where our transit system sucks unspeakable amounts.
@New layout: It caught me by surprise. I like it. It gives the site more character than it had before.
@Jake: I like em.
Yes, I'm a man of surprisingly few words. That's why I've stuffed my sig with quotes. Which reminds me, I've got to make sure the link-quote links to this thread.

Since nobody seems willing to make a clan consensus on what to vote for, would there be any complaints if I cast our votes in tomorrow? I'll need that day to look over the decks and come to a decision.
Also, my former clan, House Dimir, looks like it's going to be a permanently retired clan. KoolKoal just announced that he's leaving, which leaves two full-time members (PurpleD and Surging_Chaos). There are other members but they only pop their heads in occasionally. I predict that the guild clans will die out by the end of the year, with the possible exception of the Simic Combine. Sad, but I couldn't stand the inertia of activity going on in Dimir.
I've got a card picked out for the DCC, so all I have to do is wait for the new thread to come up. Tomorrow I'll probably go to the card shop and see if it's not too crowded, and if not I'll just chill out here.
Another thing: I've been looking for jobs this summer, and I just got an email back from a camp saying that they're looking for an interview. This is actually a camp that I went to when I was younger (I haven't been there in 10+ years). I must've applied to about 10 jobs already.
I guess I wasn't clear, so sorry Mortal Wombat. But no, we do get a consensus. It generally just takes some time. I haven't reviewed them yet, I don't think a majority of us have. Once we have we just post which ones we think should win and average them out for the clan's votes.
With Dimir gone, one of the guild clans that always seemed strong, I must wonder if any of them will end up surviving. I remember when there were a full compliment of them and we were playing over/under in some chat room about how long they would last. Good times.
Right now I am talking to the girl I have been interested in for a few months on MySpace. She doesn't have internet so it is rare. For some reason it has made my night. I feel like a very sad person now.
You guys still meeting at Neutral Ground tomorrow, Wombat? By the way, did we get your first name?
@SorryGuy: OK, I'll make sure that we get our votes together. Which means I should take a look at the decks that were built. Also, I did give my name, and it should be in the first post by now (Spangle said that he had added it in a previous post). If not, put me down as David in the first post. And I doubt that I'll be meeting with the two MTGS members at Neutral Ground, since one of them is doing something on Sunday and the other hasn't contacted me back.
In about 20 minutes I need to go out with my mom to get some blood drawn, as per my psychiatrist's request (the medications I'm taking might have some effect on the lipids in my blood or something). I hate needles. For some reason, they always strike fear into me despite the fact that they don't really hurt a whole lot. I just turn away when I get one and it's not bad.
Edit: For the vote, are we only allowed to vote for one deck per pool?
Like every other contest we vote for the top two clans. In this contest we vote for the top two decks by how effectively they used the cards in their pool, regardless of which pool they are in.

On the up side just about everything that could forseeably go wrong did and I"m still all right
The called's deck looks OK on paper, but it's got some chaff in it and it's playing three colors.
499's splashed white, but didn't throw in castle raptors, lol
ARD's deck is hard to see, but it looks like when playing it would be too slow between mana-screw and a slight topheaviness. It would still be extremely powerful if it got a good hand though.
All the other decks were playing cards that I don't see as being worth the slot ever, so I skipped over them.

I second Moss_Elemental's sentiments with the Greek Alliance, but I enjoy 499's deck too.
So my dad hasn't had a whole lot of energy since he got home from the hospital after his surgery. He has, however, been expending much of what little he has to chew me out about how I haven't been looking for jobs. After breakfast he asked me about my plans for today, to which I replied "nothing." Then he complains to me for five minutes about how I need to look for stuff to do or else someday I'll be a hobo or some crap like that. So I spend an hour and a half looking for stuff, applying to two stores near my house in New Jersey as well as emailing three camps. And when I tell him about the Devils game and how they won (the only good local sports news of the day) he was like, "Who gives a ****? Hockey is the sort of thing we're concerned about after you're done looking for work." Even my mom felt like he was taking it too far with that comment. And furthermore after I told him about what I did do in the job searching, he was saying that I should look for opportunities in my study area of interest (communications) and apply to newspapers, magazines, etc. I failed to tell him that I applied to The New York Times and the local paper near my college for internships, as well as a New York City magazine and the parent company for The New Yorker, but I'm sure if I did he wouldn't have cared. I'm about to tell him to **** off or not apply just to spite him.
Hm, I'm sorry that I'm even considered a friend here, with my inactivity.
Thanks for your sentiments about the [499] deck, but I am of no part responsible for it. I quite like the Called, Izzet, RBS, and Vagary decklists, bearing in mind their respective card pools.
Mortal Wombat, I sure hope that your father's health will not only just as good but better for years to come, and that he has a swift recovery.

And the weathermen/ladies say that you are in the better part of the Great Southern Land! It's 23ºC here in Sydney, with 1008 hPa, although the weather's far too capricious. The climate for Sydney is temperate, and it's pretty dry here, often leading to droughts.
Happy belated New Years, by the way, and Athani, I hope you're not too hurt by that idiot's rocket's sparks.:)

The layout is much nicer, the logo is poor. That might change though, I guess. I will give it a chance though, it might grow on me.
At any rate opinions on voting? It is up in the main clan forum.

So yeah, about the voting, I'm not too involved in the whole contest thing, so I'll just go with whatever you guys decide on.
