I just got back...
What happened in these 30 something pages that i missed?
Ill read the last few pages, but 30 is too much.
My vaccacion was good. I almost had a hole-in-one in golf. I hit the flagstick, but it bounced away...
I hope i didn't miss FCC sign-ups

Edit: Did we decide to drop the religion/homosexuality debate, or can i comment on that? I don't want to risk sparking something that is finished. Sorry about my grammer, im too tired to bother to spell correctly.
I also would like to congratulate people on keeping the posts civil, as well as Strongbad for one of his most involved posts ever! I'm very happy to see people participating in such a healthy way here, even with their own opinions. This is very likely the difference between us and the debate thread at times
Also, @Dreia: I think it's a really good idea to avoid parties where you really don't know anyone... of course, I'm also in the temperance camp regarding that stuff too
My plans for new years involves just hanging out with a few of my closest friends this year. I've been to parties in past years, but this time I think I'll just enjoy hanging out with cool people and then chatting with other cool people after that... including Omna. heh, I still need to prepare a bit for that... this is going to be an interesting conversation... ^_^;:O
The truth is some do in fact try to do this - either out of a joking nature taken all wrong or because they seriously try to do this. I'm not kidding. It's a stereotype for a reason people. The majority are jokes taken wrong and this is the problem. People need to lighten up - seriously.
You've met gay people that have tried to tell others that they should be gay, too? Well, I guess I'll take your word for it.
My thought would be that this idea more likely arises from the old allegation that homosexuality is "brianewashed" into young people by pedophiliacs, and that the entire phenomenon is something that is "spread."

Is there really that much discomfort with this discussion? Perhaps I have simply developed a tolerance for controversy.
None of this will get ugly as long as we respect each other. Argue with ideas, not with people. What I find is that it's best not to state things with a tone of "here's why people are wrong to disagree with me," so much as "here's what I think and why I think it." That's how I do it in Debate, anyway, and usually it prevents any "heat" from rising.
I haven't really seen any of this as a heated debate. It's all been very fair and clear so far.
However, I do understand a feeling of discomfort from "arguing" things. It's unsettling, especially when you either don't know what you want to say, or how to say it without feeling like you're being abrasive.
Quote from Joyd »
The 'Christian' viewpoint is often presented as such: homosexuality is a choice. I would assume that the reasons for calling it a choice regardless of any evidence for or against this have to do with ease of condemnation. It's fair to condemn someone for stealing, because I don't think anyone would argue that theft isn't to a great extent a person's choice. If homosexuality is a choice, it feels much fairer to condemn people for it.
I agree. If they bring it on themselves, it's easier to avoid thinking of them having to really struggle with anything.
Realistically speaking, however, the very idea that people elect their sexual responses is fantastic. Rational choice has little to do with any kind of instantaneous reaction, and little to do with instincts like sexual responsitivity.
The truth is that many Christians realize that being gay is no more a choice than being straight. They often feel that being gay is a kind of special trial God chooses for some people to go through. While I find this to be a considerably more reponsible and realistic attitude towards the issue than the more damnatory ones, I still maintain that it's not morally supported or necessary.

I am not going to be a part of the debate. I am pretty terrible at debating anyway.
Awww. Don't feel bad. *hugs*
Quote from strongbad56 »
Ok, well first, I will start off my saying that I am only 16 years old, and while that should not prevent me from having a trustworthy opinion, it does mean that I am still working out my thoughts and ideas, and I am still not sure of what I believe in my life. Of course, I do have many strong beliefs, but many of these come from things that I have learned from my parents and my church, and not from personal experiences. Nevertheless, I do feel strongly about certain things.
I completely understand.
Quote from strongbad56 »
Like I said above, I disagree with this belief, and my church, at least, conisders sex not only a means for reproduction, but also a way to unite a man and a woman.
In truth, I oversimplified the Catholic belief. They also see it as a means of binding together man and wife, but they construe reproduction, marital relationship, and gender as a cohesive package. This is probably why they do not take issue with infertile heterosexual couples, though that does suggest that reproductive capacity is not really an issue at all. No one has ever reconciled this to me.
I believe I broached that attitude, as well, that sex is necessary for uniting the otherwise estranged gender poles of our race. This suggests certain . . . gender role normativism, usually - that men and women have certain needs that only the other can fulfill. I have already addressed, though, why this is not realistic.
In short, the problem with this theory is that it in no way necessitates that bonding together a man and a man or a woman and a woman present a moral problem.
Quote from strongbad56 »
While this idea does seem to make a lot of sense, when you think about it, it does not seem to work. You say that "If being attracted to people of the same sex as you is what is most natural, then running from that...is going to accomplish more harm than good." Well, there are many things in life that are "natural" for people, but are not good things at all. For many people, rape is a "natural" thing to do, but that is not a good thing. The same goes for things like alchohalism, greed, lust, and pretty much all other sins. But just because we, as human beings, have a natural urge to do these things does not mean that they are necessarily good to do. That is the very nature of sin, as my church teaches it, at least. Sin is something that the Devil uses to tempt people to do things that are immoral because they feel "natural."
You're right, of course, that something being natural does not mean it is right. However, it is largely irrelevant to my points. You said "While this idea does seem to make a lot of sense, when you think about it, it does not seem to work." What does not work? My claim was never that if it natural, then it must be right. Suggesting that I did claim that is taking it out of context. No, my claim was more like saying that since intimate relationships have a certain value, and if people wish to engage in them, there needs to be a reason to be against them (i.e. it's bad for them). If being natural doesn't make something right, nor does it make something wrong.
Many people, including some Christians, seem to feel that intimate sexual relationships are generally bad except in certain situations, in which they can be excused, justified. I believe, conversely, that intimate relationships are generally positive except in situations in which they are abused. The difference is slight, and is mostly a matter of emphasis.
Quote from strongbad56 »
But in reality, at least in my opinion, it is a sin and should not be done. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
In a personal sense, I do understand. But in terms of moral justification, you have not presented any reason why being gay shjould be seen as wrong, just why being straight should be seen as potentially good. If being heterosexual is good, that doesn't necessarily mean that being homosexual is bad.
Quote from strongbad56 »
Whoa. That's actually the first thing that has offended me in all of this. Maybe my church is just different, but there is no way that all Protestant groups are like that. My church has done so many things for others it is unbelievable. We have sent millions of dollars to Ethiopia to help AIDS victims, and we have spent hours and hours doing things locally and around the world to help others. Maybe we just aren't Protestant, but our church has an unbelievable amount of charity and compassion. And it is definitely "cohesive and supportive."
Protestant groups are so varied that any generalized observations about the individual behavior of Protestants are always going to be rife with exceptions.

Thank you.

In seriousness, I honestly think a better place for this would be debate.
There are nineteen-kajillion threads about homosexuality in Debate. Since no one has been rude or out of line here, I don't really agree that the conversation needs to be censored. Anyone who wishes to talk about something else is certainly free to.
Besides, you all can't bring up something like religion and expect me to stay out of it.

Which is why I'm not going to say any piece about the topic of homosexuality. I can generally carry on a civil conversation with someone about the topic as long as they remain civil with me. But I agree that this topic really should be in debate. Unfortunately that's also pretty much a death curse for civility, so if anyone would prefer to converse with me on the subject, feel free to PM.
You're right about the civility issue, unfortunately. However, I have personally felt that the discussion here has been more civil than any discussion on this topic in any Debate thread I have ever read.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Is there really that much discomfort with this discussion? Perhaps I have simply developed a tolerance for controversy.

I'm not saying what I said out of discomfort or disgust with the topic at hand. I could say a lot about it, but I am just concerned with the Coffeehouse, that one wrong move may make things ugly. They've gotten ugly before. And no, I expected a good long post as usual from ya
Homosexuality is something that is not entirely a choice, not entirely genetic. I think it's more of a choice based on breeding than anything, but it's a choice nonetheless. My grandmother was a lesbian Baptist minister who lived in Washington, had a partner, and performed (nonlegal) gay/lesbian marriage ceremonies. She died of cancer in 1998, right at the time I was in Natchez Mississippi.
I guess this is the right time for me to discuss my experience with religion. As a kid growing up, like most of us, I grew with my parents' outlook on religion. Luckily my parents are very cool people, and held a basic Christian moral center, but did not actively go to church or worship a particular denomination.
At 12-13 years of age, in 1999, we moved to Natchez, Mississippi, to visit my newfound aunt, uncle, and cousins, whom my mom had found while visiting her dying mother (long lost sisters). Natchez is deep in the heart of the bible belt, or as my mom likes to call it, it is 'the tighest hole in the belt.' The town was incredibly small. We drove past a Wal-Mart and thought we were getting close--when we passed it, we were leaving. We saw the high school across the highway from it. We were stunned. Our house was next to the main highway, so there was a constant white noise of cars going by. The house was literally on stilts and cinder blocks. The bathroom floor caved in halfway through our year of staying there, and we were forced to use a small shower/bathroom for all 4 of us. My dad was in Korea. We only had 2 neighbors; a Texaco across a 4 lane highway with a meridian (illegal and deadly to cross), and a large, 2-story Baptist church. Yeah, we lived next to a church. But it wasn't the only one in town. I **** you not, there was a church on every street corner. Some bigger than the one we lived next to, some only as big as a single room. Those were usually the ones the black people went to. Yes, another wonderful attribute: There was active, healthy, unwritten segregation, except forced integration in schools, and most of the black kids were sent to 'alternative' school. Heavy, closed-minded, bigoted religious philanthropy and deep-seeded racism. Lovely. School wasn't much better; we wore school uniforms; crappy khakis and polo shirts. Active duty police armed with weapons patrolled the halls. The only real form of employment in town was at the Paper Mill, which was another cheerful attribute: Every afternoon at 3:45pm, the Paper Mill would emit this god-awful exhaust that smelled worse than burning garbage.
Needless to say, there was nothing to do around here. No geeks to play with--if you were a geek you were going to hell. So we had to stay inside most of the time. My family didn't go to church (Holly did, but that was really only to have a social circle). My eldest sister, Chrissy, was graduating high school, so she was open minded, and openly debated against a minister about theology. He was close to slapping her. Needless to say, she, and all of this negative involvement turned me off to organized religion in any form. My aunt is still worried about my soul.
This ties in with the homosexuality debate--Natchez thought being gay was one of the world's most deadly sins. Even my aunt and her family, all devout Baptists, whose own mother was a minister, thinks that her own mother is burning in hell because she was a lesbian. This just doesn't sit right with me or the rest of my family; we think that homosexuality is and should be just like your religious preference--private, and no one else's business to bother or judge at.
I know this isn't the typical experience with religion people have, and that most people can find happiness, community, and fulfillment in religion--but personally, I will never be able to associate myself with any organized form of faith because of those people. I believe that you can find happiness, community, and fulfillment in other things, including personal faith between you and whatever you want to believe in.
So forgive me if I don't chime in too often on these 'healthy' discussions. Talking about the merits/demerits of religion brings up bad memories of dealing with this severe bigotry face to face.. and as for homosexuality, it should be cut and dry, which is why my two cents were relatively short.
Guys... can you please stop talking about debate topics here. I don't mean to be offensive but if you want to talk about debate topics there is a debate forum you know... It really is starting to bother me because I can't contribute in anyway and i like to post here just to have something other then debating to talk about. If i offended anyone i am very sorry especially you mamelon since I still want to be friends with you and you will always be one of my favorite members in mtg salvation. But if this continues any longer like a couple of more pages I probably won't post that much anymore in here.
@Everyone who thinks discussions like these are bad - They are, if people get angry at eachother. No sign of that yet...
I was in one of the local tournament organizer's house yesterday, along with 7 other people, and we had a non-sanctioned two-headed giant tournament. The teams were random, and the teams were allowed to have 1 Vintage-legal deck and 1 T2-legal deck. It was really cool. I and one of my friends (sølve) were teamed up, and I ran my current favorite deck, the Rock. He ran his T2 Solar Flare, only he exchanged his removal with denial. We won all three games, and won the tournament. It was funny, we were the only kids (me 17, he 15), the rest were adults from 25 to 32 years, and we owned them
Oh, poor Alacar. Nobody cares about him... Ok, I'll take a look and see if I can find some good additions.

Cecilia, I don't understand why the conversation some people are having prevents you from having your own discussion. I mean, 95% of the discussion around here has nothing to do with me - games I don't play, entertainment genres I don't enjoy, personal events of people I don't really know, etc. - but that doesn't stop me from chiming in whenever I can. I'm sure plenty of the regulars would be more than happy to discuss your topics with you.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
What exactly do you mean when you say "based on breeding"?
I mean "based on how you were raised."
Some good suggestions for Core, some not so good, guys. I'm still very, VERY hesitant to add Arc-Slogger, and I already have Treetop Sentinel for pro-green uncommon in blue.
@Kraj: Well i dont think you understand my point not to be mean because there is a debate forum and the coffeehouse is not a debate thread its a casual place where people get to know each other and sit back and relax. Thats the main reason why i come to the coffeehouse was to get to know people and just relax in here from a stressful day at school and etc. I mean i admit i am terrible at debating but I like to reason with people and I like to help all kinds of people that feel depressed about their lives and other problems they face as well. I also like to meet new people as well.
Well I also am very sorry that I said i wasn't going to post here and I didn't mean it. I will keep on posting here as long as i am not occupied with other things.
I mean sometimes i dont' feel like much to say either but i still try to contribute in anyway i can. I also don't mind when people talk about their personal problems and goals and etc and i like to respond to them in anyway i can. But debating in here is just a whole different thing from talking about personal life and how your day has been and etc.
@alacar: sorry I haven't responded to the card choices to the core set alacar. I really like spell bombs especially with auriok salvagers.
Well anyway i am going to go do some things but i will be back later and i hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I will see you all soon though. *hugs everyone*
@Alacar: Good job on the remaining cards in the set.
So I got my new iPod today using almost all of my money on my Best Buy cards. Now I have all of my songs and videos on it, but I don't have earphones. I'll be sure to buy some from Radio Shack. I'm not doing anything for New Year's Eve, but when I get back from college there might be a party for the new year which I might be invited to.
@Kevinliu: I'm somewhere in the middle. I too think this is a place to hang out or "chill", and get known to new people. But I'm also open to discussions, as long as nobody is hurt or offended by it in any form. If, so the discussion should be left, or continued in Debate. It's not good when Coffeehousemembers get angry at eachother...
It's very possible that this is my last post here for 2006, so: HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!!
Hey.. .quick question, how the dizzyin' HECK do you save on Wild ARMs 3???? I'm TRYING and I've TRIED EVERYTHING... It is so FREAKING FRUSTRATING when I'm trying to save the game and stop in a reasonable area, but I CANNOT SAVE THE DAMN GAME.... I hate hate hate hate starting over every single time i play.. I've had this stupid intro memorized by now...!!
*ahem* I'm fine.. just a tad frustrated cuz i LIKE this game, i just hate having to start over all the time Anyway, I'm going to Barnes & Noble to spend my remaining $25 on a game called "Bookopoly" which is basically a book/literary version of MONOPOLY! And get this.. the "jail" is "Watching TV" how freaking AWESOME is that!?!?
Anyway I need to go so i can GO and come back, if I want a chance to play some more games b4 my friend comes over tonight... I may be able to play against her, Soul Calibur III if she feels up to it.... I dunno if she will lol.
Anyway, HELP about Wild ARMs 3 pleaaaaaaseeee???
And Kevin, I heartily agree with you.. That's the reason I (and naturally Arguas) created this place, so people can relax without any need to argue or feel defensive... I hate when defensiveness gets in the way of everyone's ability to have a meaningful conversation... This is not meant to be attacking or anything, simply agreeing with Kevin's perspective... (does anybody else have the problem of saying "perspective" or "perception" wrong, and screwing them up sometimes, and even blending the two words together?? lol.. its kind of weird how i do that sometimes... So i end up saying "perspections" or "perspectives" .... Arguas has busted me on it a time or two.... Fortunately he's not too mean about it
Wow nice faerie lord I like the sorceress princess card alot.:p Makes me wonder what other cards are in your set now.
@sene: happy new year to you too as well sene! Also thanks for supporting me as well.
@omna: thanks omna that really means alot to me! awww i wish wild arms 3 would of been alter code f wild arms because i am an expect at that wild arms but not wild arms 3 so sorry about that omna.
Also happy new years to you all as well! A whole new year to start and to see if we can all achieve our new or even old goals in the new year of 2007. Ill probably post later tonight have a good day everyone! *hugs everyone*
This week's regular is none other than yours truly, Alacar Leoricar.
I know it might be a cheap shot, but I'm a valid choice around here too. I thought I'd usher in the new year with.. me!
The 'Much Appreciated Assistant' around the Coffeehouse likes to be called Alacar, or just Ala. Call me Al and I'll kill you His username was created ages ago for D&D gaming on AOL, hence his e-mail: Alacar15@aol.com.
I came to MTGSalvation in September of 2005 looking for Ravnica rumors, and seeing all the other things available, I decided to join. My IYS thread is a joke, fo'shizzle I was first drawn in by the rumor season of Ravnica but quickly jumped to Card Creation and all that. Met Arguas there and subsequently Omna. Joined R&D, so forth.
Of all the places I go to on MTGS, this thread is the most visited, followed closely by the Pen & Paper Inn, which I love being a major part of. Also are the Card Creation forums, since I want more trophies for winning FCCs.
My favorite cards in MTG? Prodigal Sorcerer, hands down. I LOVE that he's back in Time Spiral. I'm on a quest to get 4 DCI foils, 4 7th foils, and 4 TS foils, and then 4 from each set (Alpha/Beta = 1 set in this case :p) The first card I really used with successfully was ol' Tim, back in 1995 during 4th edition. I fell in love with what blue used to be able to do. I started learning in 95, and skipped over Tempest thru to Masques. I'm glad I missed Urza block. Other favorites include:
My favorite Magic deck? Tough call. I would have to say Trix, or this latest incarnation of the deck. There are so many builds around that combo (Illusions/Donate), but it's one of the most evil and consistent decks I've built. Also I love Classic 1994 White Weenie (with some updates), Pingers, Green Beacon, and recently Patriot Angels.
But Trix is my favorite because it's evil. Just plain evil. Here's the latest decklist, one of my only decks that doesn't run creatures at all.
As for other hobbies besides Magic, I'm a total total geek. D&D, RPGs, video games, books, movies, cult classics, Homestar Runner, (I'm a total HSR fanboy) and other geekery. I enjoy D&D most of all, but I am really getting into Twilight Princess. I have yet to start FF12, but I will soon.
My favorite thing about the Coffeehouse would have to be the mini-community we've created here. I consider many (if not all) of you my friends, some closer than others. I love being the assistant, which basically means I keep the thread from getting stale, like I would need to. Also, I am the Coffeehouse's private shopper for avvys/sigs, in case anyone wants something done.
About me.. gosh. I'm 19 years old, living in Clarksville, TN. I learned to play AD&D at 9, and my girlfriend recently just turned a year older today. She lives in Pennsylvania, I live in Tennessee.. such cruel fate. Also, I have mild asthma, and mild Cerebral Palsy for being born 3 months early--it's all physical. My right leg is longer than my left just a little, and my hamstrings and heelcords can get tight, so I need to do exercises. Also, my left eye USED to wander but surgery corrected it. I'm in my 2nd year in college and I'm doing okay so far.
Okay, now for more Magic specific stuff: I created Academy in a way people don't expect. It all started with this innocuous post in a CCC game. My ladies were born. Then there was a contest on the CCC forums, a failed YOU MAKE THE SET competition. I signed up and quickly made the original Academy set, which was 150 cards and was nothing but the sisters and the first version of Experience. The set was cute, but not the best by any means. After the Coffeehouse came, I decided I wanted to expand the set to 306 cards. Adding Coffeehouse member-made characters, (people don't realize that Jukar is Photon Eater's creation) I made the plot more in depth. I've been regularly previewing my work, first on Academy block, then on Core Set: Salvation, then next on my upcoming block.
My favorite menu item? Well whenever I feel depressed, lonely, tired, or just want to get away from it all, I make a BIG glass of Ovaltine chocolate milk and pop some popcorn. It always helps a little. So popcorn and chocolate milk are it.
My hopes and dreams.. ah, well.. I hope to one day meet my beloved Heather, most of all. I miss her so. Today's her birthday, you know.
My current projects include Core Set: Salvation, which you've seen, and my campaign on the P&PI, Pool of Radiance.
Here's a short list of the people I particularly enjoy on the Coffeehouse:
Omna15
Mamelon
Photon Eater
ethersphere
Yukora
Crimson Avatar
Joyd
KoolKoal
Arguas2617
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy so many people in the Coffeehouse!
Nah i dont think its a cheap shot for you alacar. Id say you deserve regular of the week as well! You work hard here to help omna when she was gone with the coffeehouse so it will still be running properly. Good job and congrats on rotw alacar! Also keep up with the good work with the core set.
Some good suggestions for Core, some not so good, guys. I'm still very, VERY hesitant to add Arc-Slogger, and I already have Treetop Sentinel for pro-green uncommon in blue.
edit: all these artifacts have a CMC of :1mana:... but they ARE commons. Very splashable.
Thought about the Spellbombs, but wanted to leave room for a bit more variety...they actually fit nicely with the other choices and give some variety to the common artifact slot besides mana fixing/production.
Congrats Alacar, on RotW! You've been an immense aid in making the CoffeeHouse what it is today, and since you've been around since the beginning you fully understand the mission of the place, and are able to help serve others when both Arguas and I aren't around..
Anyway, help, help, help on how to save Wild ARMs 3 would be GREATLY appreciated... -- and now i'm headin' off to take my dog for a walk then shopping for some foodstuffs for tonight plus...OMG BOOKOPOLY!!!!! i'm sooo excited about buying that game, its not funny
Anyway! Have a good rest o' the day all. ... WILD ARMS 3 help...please!!! *puppydog eyes* -- anyway.. see you later tonight!
Again, I greatly apologize for any contribution I've made to unpleasantness. I was honestly not trying to be argumentative.

Thank you, I appreciate that. Yeah, this topic is just something that gets me going. I have very strong feelings about religion and faith, stronger than most other things, so I felt that I needed to make a long post. And there is definitely a difference between this and the debate thread.
Quote from Mamelon »
In short, the problem with this theory is that it in no way necessitates that bonding together a man and a man or a woman and a woman present a moral problem.
Yes, I understand what you are saying, and it is something that I have a hard time understanding myself. I feel in my heart that it is a sin, but I have a hard time explaining why it is "immoral." I think my view is just that I do not think it is what God wants, which makes it not a good thing to do, in my opinion.
I agree with you completely, Mamelon. I am not one of those Christians. I pretty much think that any sexual relationships inside of marriage are okay, except homosexual ones, but I already explained that. I don't know, I just think that sex is definitely abused in the world, and it makes me sad, because it is a special thing that God made especially for married couples, and when people have sex two days after they meet, it completely destroys what God created it for. But that is a different debate, and I don't want to get into that.
In a personal sense, I do understand. But in terms of moral justification, you have not presented any reason why being gay shjould be seen as wrong, just why being straight should be seen as potentially good. If being heterosexual is good, that doesn't necessarily mean that being homosexual is bad.
Yes, like I said above, this is something that I am still struggling to understand.

I am very sorry that you had that experience with the church, Alacar, because I know that it can be done better. And while I do agree that an organized form of faith is not necessary to having a relationship with God, it is extremely helpful, and can help you to deepen your faith. But I understand if you do not want to join a church because of your previous experiences.

Guys... can you please stop talking about debate topics here.
I'm really sorry that you feel this way, Cecilia, and I have mixed feelings about it. While I do love being part of these discussions, I would stop them in a second if they were to stop you or others from posting here. If you are really that uncomfortable with the discussions that we are having, I will gladly stop them.
@Alacar: Congrats on RotW!! You are definitely one of my favorite people in the House, and I'm glad to learn more about you.
Well, I think I'm off to run, so I'll see you guys later :).
P.S. Argh, so close to 700 posts! I have to get there by the end of the year, which is tonight :p.
EDIT: Geez, what's with these long posts? I've done my two longest posts ever in the past 24 hours!
hello all I am going to go play some alter code f now. I will be back later though. Yeah thats okay strong bad no problem at all. I was just concerned about the coffeehouse thats all and thank you so much for your support strongbad. I Hope everyone will have a great new years. How is everyone's weekend so far? Mines has been good. See you all soon
I just got back from buying earphones for my iPod, so now I'm listening to it.
@Omna: I know nothing about Wild Arms 3. Sorry.
@Alacar: When's my turn?
Thanks to the Facebook thing that appears when you log in, I found out that two seniors are planning on inviting me to a New Year's bash at my college. Sweetness.
@Kevin: I don't know if that should count as a 400th post :cookie:.... but for now I'll give it to you anyway. (>'_')>
yeah sorry about that mortal wombat becuase i accidently hit the submit reply when i was going to add some more content to my post so it wasn't an intentional spam post. Thats what i get for trying to do 2 or 3 things at once on the computer like writing emails and etc. Thanks for the cookie though.
Doesn't seem like a cheap shot to me, Ala. You're certainly one of the most active members of the Coffeehouse, and deserve a RotW.
Anyone know what happened to PurpleD? I don't know why I even really thought of him, other than that I was thinking about Canadians I've met. (Is it just me, or are a lot of webcomics penned by Canadians? Some very notable ones would be Adventurers!, Dinosaur Comics, and VG Cats; I had some others, but they've slipped my mind.)

Awww. Don't feel bad. *hugs*
I completely understand.
In a personal sense, I do understand. But in terms of moral justification, you have not presented any reason why being gay shjould be seen as wrong, just why being straight should be seen as potentially good. If being heterosexual is good, that doesn't necessarily mean that being homosexual is bad.
Protestant groups are so varied that any generalized observations about the individual behavior of Protestants are always going to be rife with exceptions.
Thank you.
You're right about the civility issue, unfortunately. However, I have personally felt that the discussion here has been more civil than any discussion on this topic in any Debate thread I have ever read.
All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel.

Definitely do the Bauble. Between the Spellbombs and the Myr, I say take the Myr. You need the mana fixing. Darksteel Ingot is nice, but it's not all that efficient.
I agree. I also recognize that the topic of homosexuality is veeerrrryyyy difficult for me to discuss while keeping my claws in so I'm choosing to stay out of it.
That said, I'm curious about Alacar's comment:
What exactly do you mean when you say "based on breeding"?
Cecilia, I don't understand why the conversation some people are having prevents you from having your own discussion. I mean, 95% of the discussion around here has nothing to do with me - games I don't play, entertainment genres I don't enjoy, personal events of people I don't really know, etc. - but that doesn't stop me from chiming in whenever I can. I'm sure plenty of the regulars would be more than happy to discuss your topics with you.

It's very possible that this is my last post here for 2006, so:
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!!

4 Watery Grave
4 Salt Marsh
9 Island
7 Swamp
Combo
4 Illusions of Grandeur
4 Donate
4 Accumulated Knowledge
4 Brainstorm
1 Yawgmoth's Bargain
1 Necropotence
4 Diabolic Vision
1 Demonic Tutor
4 Propaganda
4 Sapphire Medallion
4 Force of Will
1 Time Spiral

Thought about the Spellbombs, but wanted to leave room for a bit more variety...they actually fit nicely with the other choices and give some variety to the common artifact slot besides mana fixing/production.

Lol, yeah, I get that a lot ;).
I don't think you've been argumentative, and I don't think that this is unpleasant. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I'm not going to get amd at someone for saying what they believe.
Agreed.
I actually don't know. I'm fine with you contributing your comments on the topic, as long as we don't turn it into a debate. I think we just should try not to argue and everyone can just express their views, so as not to make the atmosphere here uncomfortable.
Thank you, I appreciate that. Yeah, this topic is just something that gets me going. I have very strong feelings about religion and faith, stronger than most other things, so I felt that I needed to make a long post. And there is definitely a difference between this and the debate thread.
Yes, I understand what you are saying, and it is something that I have a hard time understanding myself. I feel in my heart that it is a sin, but I have a hard time explaining why it is "immoral." I think my view is just that I do not think it is what God wants, which makes it not a good thing to do, in my opinion.
Yes, like I said above, this is something that I am still struggling to understand.
