I love the rat pack. I have that dvd it came with some roasts if I am right they should include Sinatra(with ronald reagan), Jackie Gleason, Sammy Davis and Joey Bishop(only one im not sure of) Those guys were a class act I wish I could of seen them. In other news I saw Freedom Writers today, it was pretty good, long but good. There were some sad parts where I almost teared but didn't the only movie that made me do that was Click(keep in mind I've seen million dollar baby and some other tear jerkers)
@Strongbad The only time I go to the place where the big tournaments(neutral grounds in nyc) is for the prereleases, this year I barely got enough money for entrance subway and food but it is so good

Their due tomorrow, I need 1 more book source, which is either going to be the Iliad or the play about him if I can find it(this would be much easier) and my teacher banned wikipedia so I am in teh majorz painzors. I am not asking for help but it would be uber appreciated
You can usually find links to these books on Wiki, and if it's something like the Iliad where poor ol' Homer didn't have the luxury of copyright protection, his works can usually be found in their entirety online in some translation or other.
@Mamelon: Bummer about the nitpicks. It's a common bias, and a pretty deeply rooted one, that females should naturally have a wider range of expressivity in their faces and voices. It's so subtle and pervasive that most people are unaware of it, but it is very difficult to work around, because sounding upbeat and prosodically feminine is a lot of work even for those naturally gifted with it; if you spend too much of your mental energy willing yourself to talk more upbeat and "perky" you will likely find it difficult to attend to the details of what you are doing, miss what people are saying to you, etc.
Sadly as you progress through life people around you become more entrenched in this bias and it can be very difficult to find and keep work if you are significantly different from other females. Don't expect that they have any insight into this bias at all, other than what your manager said. So it's worth working on, even just a little bit.
Having a career that at least nominally revolves around your specialized knowledge or expertise in a scientific or technical field, rather than your personal image or salesmanly appeal, will help a lot too. The bias never goes away, and you can still be stung by it at any time in your life because even professors and academic administrators use interpersonal "gender congruency" to make subtle judgment calls about you and your potential in life. But at least then once you land a position, your emotive range and voice inflection become less important to your immediate employment, which I can only see as reassuring.
Hey Mamelon, keep your hopes up. I can't pretend to know you very well, because I don't, and I can't pretend to have a lot of advice to give you, because I don't. But I just want you to know that we are all here for you all the time, and whenever you have problems like this, I'm sure we can all help you to get through them. I will pray for you, Mamelon, and I'm sure that if others do the same, you will be able to sort out your life for the better. You will be able to find a job you love and a man you love, and you will be happy. Mornin' everybody! I'm at work early.. so i popped online..I gotta do some research and such... (that's my job- research assistant) and so yea, but I'm tired heh....
Soooo good morning CoffeeHouse.. I woke up this morning slightly disappointed to see that the Institute was open today... I suppose it was to be expected cuz, well, honestly, the city of Rochester had to FORCE us to close... so yea, it wasn't gonna happen for more than one day.... And it snowed a bunch overnight so theres now a lot of snow on the ground, with a blustery wind with big fat snowflakes... Isn't too bad, if you have a hat and gloves, but the wind blowing snowflakes in your eyes can be somewhat annoying... but then again, that's when glasses come in handy!!
Had a bit of an argument with Ryan yesterday... largely me kind of slipping back into that spiral that I'm (we're) so accustomed to.. So I really really need to watch that.... and at the same time, not be beating myself up constantly about it.... I guess I'm still jealous in a lot of ways about that girl he kinda likes... He did say he wants/needs at this point to be in a strong, stable relationship with me, and the fact that he is with me again really shows that he's willing to make this work, as am I... he said, and I know, that he said "never leave the one you love, for the one you like"... and he actually WANTS to make this work... and is not going to let it go back into the same ol' ****...... it just scares me soooo much when I spiral right back into my same ol' same ol' patterns...In that respect, I can identify with you Mamelon, regarding feeling like "wait, I was getting SO much better! What the HELL JUST HAPPENED TO ME!?!?!?" kinda thing....
But anyway... things are going okay w/ us... We're just working on things that really really needed to be worked on.... and honestly I really just needed to rant and stuff.... I really can't wait until Valentines Day! I'm trying to decide if i should cook dinner for Valentines Day or for after the dance (whenever it happens... i'm kind of wondering about that now..heard it was happening the 26th or 27th but now I have no idea cuz it still says nothing on the Events calendar....but anyway) ..

A few points-
People don't change overnight. Don't forget that. If you are earnestly trying to change something, you always have to accept that you will occasionally slip up. It's just part of the process. Try to be vigilant about letting it happen again, but don't guilt yourself if it occasionally does happen.
Jealousy is rarely healthy. It's normal, but it's also important to sometimes let your mind reason with your heart. Jealousy almost always stems from negative feelings- feeling threatened, feeling neglected, feeling left out, and what have you. However, while all feelings are valid, they aren't always productive. As human beings, both of you are wired to be attracted to other people, and it WILL happen. However, if you have a commitment, you have something greater than that. Part of what makes a commitment (like that you have in a relationship) so strong is not that it is rooted in feeling, but that it is rooted in conscious decision. You CHOOSE to be with the person you are with, and actively decide every day to remain with them. Don't forget that, and always remind yourself when you are feeling jealous that it is more than a fleeting fancy that keeps you together, more than something as ephemeral as mere emotion.

You're really very right.. that is something I should remember when I start to feel that way... and I have accepted the fact that he likes her... it just scares me a little that she likes him too... but the fact remains that he is choosing to be with me... I get this weird feeling sometime that I'm "second choice" but honestly I know I'm 'first'... because there's so much showing us both that this is worth continuing, worth working for... and you're definitely right... people don't change overnight... it said that very thing in the book I was reading which really made me realize a lot of things, (the Dance of Anger by Harriet Lerner ...amazing book.. [/book plug]) and so I need to keep that in mind...... The relationship in the past has been so up and down that I guess I'm so used to fighting against it, and now that finally there's real, romantic spark of a feeling instilled in the relationship, much moreso than previously, I'm just getting used to the fact that he WON'T be so ambivalent and see-saw-y... now that I'm trying to work on this, he's testing me to see if i have changed... which is perfectly reasonable, and subconscious, because that's every person's "change-back!" tendencies... People that you have developed a relationship with (an unhealthy one for instance), and the fact that it spirals, or circles, will be forced to "change their own steps in the dance" when you change your moves... For me, that means not exploding as easily, really letting him talk, and listening in a way i never really have before... I also need to develop a sense of ability to let him do his own thing, and to allow myself to do mine... because previously we were together entirely too much and that eventually grated on each other, because he felt depended upon and I felt i couldn't let go.. which was bad... so now that I recognize that.. I'm trying to change it.... But like I said before, that's so hard.... it is, I believe the single hardest thing I'm trying to do...

Hang in there, Omna! If Arguas said something that profound (Don't leave the one you love for the one you like) then things have definitely improved. It's natural to be scared. We're (well, I am) here to help if you ever need someone to talk to about it, but I'm glad to see you're slowly grasping this new change. It's good that it's slow, too--changing yourself too quickly is not healthy.

But no, I didn't do Academy block entirely alone. That would be very difficult. I was the one with the final authority on everything but I got a lot of ideas and feedback from my friends at the Coffeehouse. I mean, without the Coffeehouse, Omna and Arguas wouldn't exist. Eek! Neither would Jukar have graced the virtual cardboard. Eek! That's not good. Jukar was one of my favorite characters to write flavor text for.
I did polish up most of the names. Some still need some polishing i am afraid.
And mind telling me which cards are worded incorrectly? I was pretty sure Umgenni dealt with most.
I also updated some cards as they were broken (Change of Will was slightly so...:p Some others where Regain Memories, Morphling Dragon and Growing Lands)

Was dinking around in some old draft chaff and found a couple Greenseekers for ya's. I also found a German Silkwing Scout. If you're interested, pm me an addy so I can send 'em to ya. All I ask in return is that you send me something cool, i collect Think Twices and Coiling Oracles, if you want to write your favorite Maltese proverb or saying on it that would be awesome.
I might also be working at a store in the next town to help them run FNM and that will give me a little discretionary income (mostly for bills, but I will have first crack at new products and any collections the owner buys). So maybe my Magic hobby will pick up a bit. I haven't played IRL in like 6 months now. At least since the Coldsnap PR.
Yes, Bornnover, that's a significant drawback--if you have threshold and you reanimate an opponent's creature, they get it back in their hand. Leads to some interesting situations, and is definitely political when thrown into the multiplayer arena.

Today at school I saw this documentary about the Ugandan Civil War. It really opened my eyes about the world. The website is www.invisiblechildren.com. Now I cant help but feel guilty for my lifestlye.
Through the Invisible Children group I've signed up to participate in this event called Displace Me where you live in a "refugee camp", like a camp set up in Central Park, for 24 hours. I hope that I can get more people to do this so al least one problem in Africa can see some resolution.
I'm right now going to buy a lot of old booster boxes for about $50 each (eBay)... All Chinese for your information. I found Odyssey & Invasion block boxes for $50 each, and normally those go for at least $40 more than that, especially Torment, which is usually around $150 Also Kami block boxes are $28 each Some of my friends will do the same, we'll have a great time drafting them! We'll buy 12 boxes or so, which means a total of 432 boosters! Sounds like fun

Hey everyone! I've decided to start working on my next block! Starting with set 1, 306 cards. I've already gotten the outline of color division/rarities down, and I only know 2 things: I want Ethersphere and Nai to submit characters for the leads.
Any suggestions as to what I can do this time around, keeping in mind Academy block and Core Set: Salvation?

I've heard from my friends, who moonlight as card creators, that creating the second Block is just as hard if not harder then the first. I can't say I've taken a long look at the Acedemy Block. I might do that before I actually suggest anything. I am really more of an individualy card kinda guy.

A few points-
