Welcome nosuchluckhere, yes some of us do like tea (not me), and I'm not even sure anyone likes coffee (nor can anyone get the coffee machine to work). But, you're right, this is a great place to get to know people.
I've probably met 8 people here who I enjoy as my friends I have in real life :).
So, would you like to tell us about yourself?
I'm leaving for church in a few minutes.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
ah. Well, my name is Danai Thomas Ressler. Im from Michigan. My friends call me Nai usually. I started MTG during the kamigawa block, and since then Ive studied the game more than anything(so I understand concepts that most of my friends are still learning after playing for years!)
Ive gotten a lot of people into the game, and my most recent endeavor is checking out the tourney scene. Ive built a nice B/u deck that Im actually kinda proud of. Other than that, I have a broad range of intrests. WAY too many to name. Im like a modern day bard! I love music, and Ive been a Nintendo fan since day one. You all seem like a swell group of people and Id like to become a regular here:-). thats about it. I really wont hesitate to answer any questions you have about me so feel free to ask!

HEIL MIYAMOTO! ~-~-~Nintendo fanboy since '86~-~-~
Thanks for the offer, Alacar, but I want to beat it myself. Sorry, adventure gamer's pride, I suppose. And I will beat it certainly! Only tell me how far in the game I am - I'm on the pirate ghost ship now, to recover the voodoo antiroot. Is there much of it left? (I hope yes, because it is really enjoyable.)
I understand completely. If you're on the ship, you're nearing the last and shortest part of the game. As for the voodoo antiroot.. you need several things to get to it. That's all I'll say.

I wanted also task if perhaps there are any Myst fans here? I've been revisiting the series recently, and I still find it extremely good, both the games and the books. Despite its years, Riven is probably still the best game I've ever played.
I just picked up the 10th anniversary release of Myst, Riven and Myst:Exile. I always wanted to play them but only ever played the first. Unfortunately I'm having computer issues and haven't gotten to play them yet.
Welcome, nosuchluckhere! I'm sure you'll find this is a friendly place to visit There's even a user who frequents named nai. I'm sure you two will get along swimmingly

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
Up late last night, and slept in really late today...woke up about an hour ago. Yay, and i resume getting up at 7am all next week.
Saw the foil JSS thing, posted my opinion in its thread.
As for Serra that's very sweet. It is hard to decide which I like better, the Guay art or the Doug Shuler art. I'ma go with the Shuler art because it looks very nice foiled here, and also because it's the art I have grown to love and look back on as uniquely Serra.
I couldn't agree more, Snoop. That's why I chose the Guay art as the regular Serra art, but the original as the promo--the original gets the special honor. Look for a larger, full-size promo to be put onto my site (when Pendrell can get the typo on the flavor text fixed).
Coming soon: Regular of the Week and a double dosage of Geek Mp3s!
I feel like the second one is a little clearer, assuming that you want people to say the words backwords, as opposed to painfully attempting to say each word in reverse, which will be impossible to understand. In fact, since speaking backwards is such an enormous hassle and disrupts the game so much, I'd say that the card doesn't really belong at common. (Goblin Mime is arguably a greater hassle, since at least with Beast Backwards you can safely use one-word utterances, but Goblin Mime doesn't encourage players to stop constantly and try to work out what they need to say in their heads.)
This week's regular, at long last, is Mortal Wombat.
Mortal Wombat, affectionately known as MW on the Coffeehouse, has been around MTGSalvation quite a bit, being the 9th highest member in terms of postcount (I'm #28). He answers to MW, Mortal Wombat, and his first name, David, or just Dave. He's been clamoring and begging to be a RotW, so here's his chance to shine. Surprisingly, though, his answers were short and to the point.
Of his user name, it's obviously a play on the term 'Mortal Kombat,' a classic 2D/3D fighting series. He carried the 'Wombat' part over from another Magic site, where his user name was 'Wombat Herd,' a play on Rabid Wombat and Jackalope Herd. He came to MTGS in September of 2005 after a friend who also is a member here convinced him to go from the previously mentioned other site.
Mortal Wombat is one of the only Regulars who didn't list the Coffeehouse as his favorite place to visit on MTGS! We'll forgive him however; he's a major contributor to the Magic General and Opinions forums, where he can be seen regularly.
Of Magic, Mortal Wombat has short and concise answers: His favorite card is singlehandedly Exalted Angel, because "if it becomes morphed, you've pretty much won the game." Currently his favorite deck is Boros Deck Wins, which is what he's running; weenies and burn.
When he's not unmorphing for :2mana::symw::symw:, MW is a sports fan, liking the NY teams for football and baseball, and the NJ teams for hockey and basketball. He enjoys community service, and public performances like improv. Mortal Wombat has also revealed to me that he went to 2 different boarding schools over the span of 7 years. Quite the experienced boarder! He has no current projects or plans, but he hopes one day to have a family to call his own, and to become a journalist. Perhaps he should try to join the Writers forum.
Of the Coffeehouse, Mortal Wombat has said that he enjoys the people most of all--"They're nice people who will listen to you and are very supportive of your problems." Well, Mortal Wombat, we're glad we could help. He enjoys the lattes, and of its other Regulars, he enjoys the company of SnoopDoggAtog the most, saying that she's persevered through a lot of crap in her life, and she's never given up. Admirable, indeed.
Well, that's that, Mortal Wombat! This is your Regular of the Week for January 7-13.

With a heaping double scoopful of music for all of you! Since there are six songs, I'll just include the titles and a short comment, if necessary. The first three are songs requested by our RotW. I'll let him summarize it for me.
Pollyanna (from Mother, overworld music; off of Newgrounds)
Funky Bookas (from Earthbound, Scaraba music; off of OC Remix)
Bound Together (from Earthbound, credits music; off of Bound Together, an Earthbound remix compilation album)
My songs, that should've been added last week:
Banana Man, a song that has gotten lodged in my brain! This banana's for you.
@mortal wombat: Congrats on the rotw! You deserved it i am happy for you.
@nosuchluckhere: Welcome to the coffeehouse! Enjoy your stay here since coffeehouse is a really cool place to post and talk to people.
@Koolkoal: have a good time at church and a great day as well Koolkoal.
@ungenni: well goodluck in that game i have played that game before and it's pretty fun but I only played it for a short peroid of time since it was my sister's game and not mine.
Well I will probably post later tonight. See you all soon and take care and god bless everyone! *hugs and blows kisses to everyone in the coffeehouse*
Following up a heaping of awesome news with more awesome news:
Tnisk is officially Publicly Official!
That's right the patch is now double o-fficial. The patch has been updated and is available via my Extendo! And guess what? There's also actual scans too! Links to those are also in my extendo. Also, proud to announce that I'm letting Core Set: Salvation be used with the set to make "Standard" decks - and more importantly to let some fun happen since it might be a month or two till I finish the second set in this block. If you still wanna work with this as a singular "block" style just let me know. I hope everyone enjoys!
As for games I'll be more than happy to play when I have a deck I can decide up on for it. Should be no later than tonight.
Note: There might still be a few errors in the patch. Feel free to post any errors in my extendo-sig. Just beware that "The split cards aren't showing up right" isn't one of them. That's just the way the split cards show up via created sets. Fixes for this can be posted in my extendo as well. Again, I hope everyone has fun with this!
Thanks Alacar, for the RotW. I'm glad that I got it at long last.
My dad, who came back from the hospital yesterday, has been driving me really hard to look for work, in spite of the fact that I've already applied to several jobs for the summer. I did it to please him and to solidify my chances of getting a job, even though I have an interview for a camp. Tomorrow I'm going to get my blood drawn at a lab since it's open tomorrow. And I'm cursing the Patriots because they're going to win again, like always.
Congrats MW. It was along-time coming, in my book.
Oh, and i need to say congrats to Alacar for RotW as well. I caught up on my back-reading, and realised that I never said congrats. Sooooo....congrats.
Goodnight everyone this will probably be the last post for me tonight. I am going to go eat dinner pretty soon. I wish everyone to have a great week starting from tommorrow. God bless everyone and best wishes to everyone as well. Have a great night everyone! *hugs everyone in the coffeehouse* *blows kisses to everyone too*
Congrats on ROTW once again MW you deserve it as much as anyone else that recieves rotw.
Amazing, isn't it, that my dad hasn't got much energy to spare ever since he's gotten back from surgery yet he chooses to spend 90% of it complaining about "why haven't you applied to jobs yet?" I did that today for about an hour and a half, and he's still not satisfied because he thinks I haven't applied to anything that relates to my potential field of study (communications, with an emphasis on journalism). I did, though, albeit earlier in the break by applying to Conde Nast Publications (which is The New Yorker's parent company, among other magazines), The New York Times, the newspaper near my college, and a New York magazine that talks about the goings around the city. I'm just about to tell him to **** off or stop applying just to spite him. I'll admit that I haven't been doing as much work as I should have, but beggars can't be choosers when it comes to summer work, so long as you put some effort into it.
Howdy folks! I just got back Friday night.. spent some time with Arguas over the weekend.. .was quite nice.. now I'm back in my room, where I need to unpack, but mostly study for stuff tomorrow..
I want to work on one of my own little projects but school should be first...and I'm drinkin' tons of this Coca-Cola Blak... *Ahhh ..remembers good ol' Shinobi* its great Ryan's roomies hated it ,so they chucked it off onto me
Wow. It's been a while. Sorry that I haven't been posting, but ever since I started typing my essay on January 1st (due on the second :D) I have been utterly swamped. I have another essay due this friday, prolly a chem test, an APUSH test to study for, a band to practice in (my friends actually got together this weekend, I'm lead guitarist!), guitar to practice in general, and keep up with Planar Chaos, along with..... o ya, my shop. Swamped can't even describe half of it
Other than that, I'm glad the rumors were wrong and Akroma is in fact a 6/6, uncounterable, flying, trampling, pro blue and white, firebreathing and morphing monstrosity. And green gets a ball lightning.
*orders some strawberry smoothies as he listens to Metallica and thinks of what songs for his band to play*
If you guys have suggestions, we need easier songs to start out with.

Welcome, mishraman! Please read the forum rules and poke around. This is an overclan, a gathering of friends with a coffeehouse motif. Post in the Introduce Yourself thread, check out Magic General.
I wanted also task if perhaps there are any Myst fans here? I've been revisiting the series recently, and I still find it extremely good, both the games and the books. Despite its years, Riven is probably still the best game I've ever played.
I tried the game once (Riven), but I didn't understand much from it... It's a game that's quite different from most other games.
@MW: Congrats on member of the week! You're a great member, it was really deserved...
I lost my FCC round, as I thought... But not as badly as I feared, Skelvamp won with only a 1 point margin (me - 18, he - 19).
Two new members, eh? I wish mishraman and nosuchluckhere (NSLH? Hehe...) a warm welcome to the Coffeehouse...
I dunno about you.. but I am severely disappointed in what I see with the Planar Chaos spoiler. MaRo's explanation is not at all enough to explain the literal betrayal of everything Magic: The Gathering is based on. This whole concept of 'what if' literally tears the heart of what the game is out and squeezes it really, really hard. For a guy who praises the color pie so greatly, he's stomping all over it now with these planeshifted cards. And the non-shifted cards? Akroma is a bomb but it is a red angel, for gods' sake. It is literally the worst set I have ever seen in terms of design. Ever. I will not go to the prerelease, and I will not buy any products from Planar Chaos. It disgusts me.
Wow man, that's a little harsh. I'm the exact opposite, but it's not because of design or any of that stuff. I'm an almost strictly casual player, and what I see in PC is a whole lot of fun decks to make, and interesting additions to my own. In my play group, this will destroy the hierarchy of strong decks with now easy responses and wins with some of the cards in PC. It's a casual meta-breaker set :glee:. I'm probably going to buy 2-3 boxes of this set fo sho.
edit: @alacar: Did you ever put katamari music as your geek mp3? Katamari on the rocks will have everyone scratch their heads.
I don't get it. What makes it so bad? It's breaks the meta of many formats, really gives a much needed spice to competitive decks. Well, even if it doesn't do something as revolutionary as that, it will make many decks have to change their sideboards, or even main boards with this set. It opens up competitive opportunities for many rogue decks.
Planar Chaos is about the worst set in terms of developement, I have to agree with that, Alacar. I don't really like the Planeshifted thing... They could've done something interesting with the old cards (like they did in Time Spiral), not just reprint them in another color and break the color pie at the same time. But I'm going to buy it, that's for sure. I'm a Spike, but with a touch of Johnny and Vorthos as well.
