Life's good for the most part....a bit stressed, but hey..it's college? I'm stage manager for the ****** Monologues....Are you laughing yet? 'cause I sure am. One of the assistants in the scene shop is this 30-year-old guy...He's just about as skinny as I am [maybe more so], few inches taller...and he's got this mysterious kind of air about him. Alright, I admit, I think he's attractive. He's like...pure muscle, too, since he does karate and the like on saturdays.
My classes are going alright, I suppose...dragging along in math and english...astronomy's good, pseudoscience is meh, and stagecraft is awwwesome.
Life overall is decent...Mikey and I were fighting for a while a week or two ago, but we're all fixed now. 8 months! 44 more days until I get to see him. My roommate gets on my nerves a little more often than she has, but I'm almost never in the room, so if she doesn't want to do the dishes and let the room reek of sour milk, let her. I sleep here, eat breakfast here, and do a tiny part of my homework here. I'm always in the theater, so.
Oh, and Evan, my exboyfriend, is creeping me out a lot...randomly IMs, asking if I 'liked the things we did two summers ago', and if I'd 'still like them now' from him. Can you say...warn/block?
Storm: Heh, my boyfriend thought the same way all through high school. And then he met me. You'll meet someone, I'm sure. It'll just take going through a bunch of "bad ones" first. Keep your chin up!
Blue: As for the less painless/more painful thing....no, not necessarily.
my friend Vince and I talked about girls once...we decided they're a necessary evil. They're incredibly evil, but necessary if the humans want to survive. =p
Now I should take a shower and get down to the scene shop. Thus conlcuding the random post from Jo!

Women seem to pretend alot. While I have never had a woman pretend to like me (for obvious reasons) I did have a woman back in high school who was basically shaved her head and pretended to be a boy right before her freshman year for the purpose of trying to get with me. When I met her however it was pretty obvious she was a she. I don't get why pretending to like someone or pretending to be a gay man seems like a good idea to these woman, but my best guess would be that they like to create these situations that mimic hollywood and theater tragedy. They want the epic and the 2 thumbs up and the "Spellbinding" -New York Times.

Just for grins, here's a scandalous (you know all love scandal) question that might be fun to discuss. Scenario:
You meet a hot guy (how is unimportant, it could be online or at a bar or whatever) and hookup. At no point do you have an expectation for a relationship or anything like that, it's just for fun. (I know I've already lost some of you since that's not something you're interested in, but just play along.) You have a really good time and even though you don't want to date, you definitely want to meet up again. He says he also wants to see you again, agreeing on no dating. He adds that he wants to keep it discreet, since he doesn't want his boyfriend to find out he's meeting up with you every once in a while.
What do you do? You barely know this guy and chances are you never have and never will know his boyfriend. Do you end it immediately or do you continue to meet up with him?

Hm. Maybe i'm selfish... or a **** or something. I'd keep seeing the guy since there's no dating. Sounds fun. What's his number?

Well, I'm not so into the casual sex scene, but supposing I was, I would find it harder to stomache ****ing a guy behind his boyfriend's back. I wouldn't want that to happen to me if I were in his boyfriend's shoes, and so I don't expect that I would intentionally do it to another person.
Assuming he's good in bed (which it would appear he is, since you're interested in seeing him again), yes, I would. I wouldn't feel guilty about him cheating, it's not me who made that choice. I wouldn't continue being the other man if I wanted more than a casual thing, though. Not exactly a good way to start off something serious.
Kraj, you can't post that question then not post your own answer :-P
Does anyone pay attention to the news these days?I thought I was keeping up fairly well but I wasn't aware there was a(nother) shooting in Colorado Wednesday. What is up with that state O_o
Well I figured I would give other people time to weigh in, get some differing opinions and such.
I would continue (ie., have continued. It's not like any of you actually thought for one second that the scenario was hypothetical) to see him. The way I see it, what he does with his relationship is his business, not mine. If he wants to cheat on his boyfriend what do I care? If I wanted a relationship with him or if I knew his boyfriend it would be a different story. My intention is to have a good time, so I'll do that.

I've never had a boyfriend and I know for at least the time being, I don't want one. Just want to have some fun right now. (which is a totally not what I thought would be true.)

I got no news. well..... some news. A little. just a few things. One is I got an ear piercing! woot!
I love how everyone I know [well, it seems like everyone] is getting piercings...
...my ears are pierced, and I wish they weren't. However, I had no control over it at the time.
Why does my mom obsess about me looking like a girl? DAMNIT, I like looking kinda like a male. I mean, c'mon, it's the running joke in the theater department here that "Jo's a man!".
She needs to let go.

Hey folks sorry I've been kinda not present for a few days, I finally am gainfully employed working at one of the casinos here doing security. As far as piercings go, they are hot on some people not hot on others, I personally don't have any anymore although I used to have my nips pierced.

I saw the Children of Men on Saturday, and since (I don't think that) it's on general release in America yet, {mikeyG} may be interested on my views.
I don't think it'll be out on this side of the Atlantic until December.
Incidentally, I'm interested in the film even more because of the way the science fiction aspect of it was done. I've known for some time now that the film is light on explanation, and that really works for me. In a film like this, I don't care as much about the why. For me, the presentation of what happens as a result of a global inability to conceive is more important than knowing why conception is impossible in the first place. And what this one girl's pregnancy means for humanity is a bigger question than exactly how she's able to get pregnant at all. I think the lit major in me likes it when films leave questions unanswered. More often than not, it leaves more for the viewer to think about afterward.
Though I can't say I'm not pleased to hear that Children of Men has its fair share of action. That means it'll be quite a lot easier to snare my friends into going. And if all I've heard is correct, the action does little to detract from the plot and is shot beautifully. Both of which I enjoy.
Interesting plot, superb cinematography, crazy action plus Clive Owen? There's no way I'm not laying down $10 for that. I'm just jealous that you already have.

No ****. I work at a casino now, too. Only less security, more waitering. But at least my flirty charm comes in real handy with a waitering gig. The right smile can mean the difference between a $2 tip and a $10 one.

Why does my mom obsess about me looking like a girl?
I could speak at long length about obsessive mothers who cling to their ideas of who their children are, could be and should be. Especially since I got a special State of the Union of the family from my mom today over lunch. Believe me, mothers have warped views for their children.
Re: Piercings: I don't have any.
Re: Children of Men: I hadn't heard of this movie, but it seems interesting.
Re: My lack of online activity: I have no home computer. I use the library ones, which are hideously slow and terrible.
Piercings i DO have, one in my left ear, got it when i was like 2. I'm told its illegal to do such things now :/
'Children of Men' i remember hearing of not too long ago actually. Just before the discussion of it started up here. I'll probably see it just because its right up my alley. An Alternate History/Realistic future type thing. If its well done then all the better; atleast its better then the majority of the books in said
genre.
And yeah; Comp #1 Died. It was my primary Windows Based computer which SUCKS cause it died right after round 1 occured, and i must now scramble to get alternate meathods of finishing the rounds together, especially since im the only person who won round 1 in my clan. Its pride now.
Alternatively, My friend, who i have known for years now, came out yesterday telling me that she has strong feelings for me and asked me out. It was kinda wierd, cause well, ive always known she had feelings for me, but has been involved since i met her, up until about last february. *its been bout 7 months yes i know*. And the REASON for her and her BF breaking up was cause she ended up having to move to Pakistan for a little over a year and a half in all likelihood. Meaning, that it would be about 10-11 months until such time she'd be back in Canada.
So, im lookin at VERY long Distance, for a long space of time.
But, it is a girl i know REALLY well *she lived with me for a few months, and is the REASON she's stuck in Pakistan*, and do have atleast mild feelings for. I woulda felt disgusted with myself if i DIDN'T give it a try.

Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.
Basically:
S + T = W
...S in this case stands for 'spam' and the T stands for 'light trolling'. And the W? That stands for 'Warning'. I love math. -- {mikeyG}
So I was thinking about how I promised a vertitable explosion of guys when I finally got my ass in gear on the whole HGOtW thing. I didn't know how to do it. Then the new tv season started up and I basically forgot about it cuz there was a lot of screen candy. Then it hit me. That was the solution. Shows nowadays promote themselves by packing their cast with attractive people. Something for everyone. They basically do my job for me and me being as lazy as I am, decided it was time I took advantage of that.
So for the next few days, I'll take one show (some are new, some are returning) and give a little sample of what the show has to offer those of us who proudly reside in the shallow end of the pool.
First up is NBC's Heroes, a show that can fairly accurately be described as Lost by way of X-Men. Various strangers discover they have nifty superpowers and cross paths as doomsday looms in the not-too-distant future. To suit the show, the casting people decided to work the multicultural thing, prividing us with eye candy version of "It's A Small World Afterall".
On the far left is Greg Grunberg, who usually gets the thankless role as 'slightly heavy best friend with a lot of charm'. And yes, he's not built like a beefcake model, but regular guys can be hot, too, dammit. You might recoognize him from everything JJ Abrams has ever done. Seriously. Felicity, Alias, Lost, Mission Impossible 3, JJ casts his college buddy in everything he does. Awww.
Next is Milo Ventimiglia, who has quite the following as a result of his days on Gilmore Girls. I know him best from Opposite Sex, where he starred opposite past HGOtW Chris Evans. Though you'll probably remember him better once he stars as Rocky's kid in the new Rocky movie coming out soon.
Third is Santiago Cabrera, who apparently didn't exist before Heroes for all the info out there on him. Just kidding, he was dreaming of becoming a soccer player until he started acting in stage plays. Heroes is his big American television break.
And on the far right is Sendhil Ramamurthy, whose career to the point has more or less been bit parts and playing the token Indian character. Which technically, he still kind of is on Heroes, but at least it's a significant part. And he's hot, so I think he'll sleep at night.
Nicely done, Mikey. But you forgot the adorably pudgey Asian guy!
There was no forgetting. There was actually a rather heated internal debate as to whether to include him or not. In the end, I decided that although he is adorable, most of that comes from his infectiously upbeat personality on the show rather than physical appearance. And while there are instances of non-physical traits aiding in a HGOtW being featured, they are in addition to the shallow aspects rather than the real focus.
Man, only I could make this process as complicatedly difficult as that. Sigh
I haven't been around for a while, I'm sorry!

I got no news. well..... some news. A little. just a few things. One is I got an ear piercing! woot!
...my ears are pierced, and I wish they weren't. However, I had no control over it at the time.
Why does my mom obsess about me looking like a girl? DAMNIT, I like looking kinda like a male. I mean, c'mon, it's the running joke in the theater department here that "Jo's a man!".
She needs to let go.

I could speak at long length about obsessive mothers who cling to their ideas of who their children are, could be and should be. Especially since I got a special State of the Union of the family from my mom today over lunch. Believe me, mothers have warped views for their children.

Re: Children of Men: I hadn't heard of this movie, but it seems interesting.
Re: My lack of online activity: I have no home computer. I use the library ones, which are hideously slow and terrible.

And, somebody needs to find a non Mac/OS alternative to Windows that runs stuff well, because I think that Windows is... tardlicious.
Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.
Basically:
S + T = W
...S in this case stands for 'spam' and the T stands for 'light trolling'. And the W? That stands for 'Warning'. I love math. -- {mikeyG}

She knows why.
Sigh
