Have a good day, Omna! Hey, why am I still awake? Actually, I stayed up playing WoW and Wind Waker. Figures In any case, don't forget to do everything on your list, including the one important thing not on it
And Sene, yup that would be correct, we can't participate in Clan Contests... at least not to my knowledge, as we've never competed before.. however, now that we're one of the two remaining overclans still standing, perhaps the rules may have changed.. I'm not entirely certain.
I've been browsing the 'net and downloaded a couple things I needed for the future... I do need to re-download the spoilers and scans and whatnot for Academy Block and for Sanctuaries... as I have 3 nice decks I can play with.. too bad I'm not going to have much time to do that kind of thing before I leave.... I'm gonna seriously be crunched for time tonight... that's why I slept just now, about... 5 hours. Cuz i know I'm not gonna be getting any sleep tonight cuz my flight leaves at 6am... which means I need to be there no later than 4:30am.. I've got soo much to doooo...ugh.
So I suppose I better go do it.
Wish me luck in surviving the day.

EDIT: and btw we're at 3547 posts... can we get to 3600 by the time I make a new thread tonight????

Omna, I know you might not see this because you're hella busy, but I wish you a restful and prosperous holiday and New Year, and a fresh and invigorated start to the next semester. 99% of college students couldn't handle your courseload, many burn out/drop out, and a lot more have significant issues with depression and anxiety trying to meet that level of demand. So before you even set foot in your first class of the new semester, pat yourself on the back for getting through it all this last time around.
I might add, the sorts of things you're taking sound rather difficult, abstract, and a bit dull to me, but then that's just me. (I was one of those horrid artsy-fartsy nosepicker liberal arts majors who managed to develop an interest in something more lucrative mid-junior year, and yes I can laugh about it because I was hellbent on becoming a 30-year-old millionaire with my GREEK LIT degree. )
to all the rest of you...good morning too!
Minor whine: My friend and i took her ailing mom to the mall to see the lights and festive decor, and maybe get a heavy winter coat (she's from Calcutta and the heaviest "coat" they have is a leatherette rain slicker). So I rented a wheelchair and a car and we went to the Towson mall yesterday. All the coats were very nice but also much too heavy for her to wear with her weak left side, and very expensive. So we deferred the coat. Then we were looking for a nightshirt...that too turned out to be hilarious because she is a very tiny woman and even the chldrens nightshirts were too long for her or (at her correct length) sleeves too short/too tight. The one petite one we saw was not enough coverage for her at night/too flimsy. The trip was fun, and we ended by going to the one Indian grocery in town and picking up a lot of staples for her house.
Then I realized I would not be able to return the wheelchair until today. Meanng i had to keep the car until this evening. Meaning i got charged another $80
Oh well, it's for a good cause and I can pick up some temp work in the next week or so to make part of that up.

Thank you snoop.. that means a lot.. I really do appreciate your kind words, and while most college students are finishing the semester, we're just beginning our quarter (yeah, we get homework over Christmas break..how lovely) ... anyway.. my roomie finally showed up so we were catching each other up on the details on what's going on tonight.... here's what i'm thinking thus far for my day:
10-12 : editing papers and revising/turning them in
12-1 : Counseling appt

2-3 : Reading and whatnot in Java Wallys (our coffeeshop oncampus), also seeing a friend briefly

Morning, everyone. Just checking in before I go to school. I hopw everyone is wide awake and had a good night's sleep last night. And good luck on all that stuff, Omna. I'm sure you can get through all of it with no problem.
P.S. A small rant: I'm really starting to get pissed off at my judge for the FCC, who still hasn't done any of the cards. I realize that he might be busy, but he probably shouldn't have signed up to be a judge if he had so much to do. Anyway, if he doesn't have them done by the end of today, i think another judge should do them, or we won't finish the contest on time.
@strongbad: ME said to be patient, but we DO have to fit in another round last time a judge was replaced (HH i think?) so it shouldnt be 2 hard, right?
GOOD LORD you guys post too quickly for a normal person to keep up. But I'll try.
@Joyd: I didn't mean to offend you with the Eregon thing. The people I was referring to are those internet dreck who revel in dissing something simply because it's popular. For example, Photon informs me that it's popular to hate Tolkein and Lord of the Rings now...and I don't know why, other than that it's popular. The internet sucks ¬_¬;;
@Cards: Alacar, I'd highly recommend Songs of the Damned for some black mana producing. And hey! Pillory is just as good as Fetters; they're built for two different kinds of players is all.
@Danica: Uhm...it may not be my place to say this because I don't think I have the whole story, but I don't really understand your agreement with Ryan. It looks and sounds to me like you're really getting the short end of the stick here, doll. I won't say anymore in public view, but if you do want to hear my opinion, feel free to PM me some time.
@Favorite characters: Lord, too many to count. But as for books, I'm going with Schmendrick from The Last Unicorn. He's a bumbler and a weakling, and never does anything right, but he somehow learns to believe in himself no matter what, and that's when he has his true strength. Plus...he's just so fun to observe.
As for video game characters...that would take me forever, so I'll pass for now.
Done w/ the essay stuff... now gonna go turn it in...
Ethersphere, you're probably right in that you don't have all the information, and I have the feeling that I'll just get overly depressed if we talk more about it, so if its alright, I think Im gonna let it go.. but if i truly am curious I'll send ya a PM.
EDIT: Headin' out now... i'm a bit ahead of schedule, which is why I could take the time to post on here... Have a good day folks!

Didn't mean to lash out, really. I tend to register disappointment most strongly; that is, if I had high hopes for something and it doesn't deliver, I end to come down on it much more harshly than if something I didn't expect much of fails to please.
Popular to hate LotR because it's popular? While the books and movies are not entirely above reproach, it still makes me a little sad. (I admit to taking a lot of tries to make it through the series because of the pacing, but I still really enjoyed them.)

I never really read the tolkein books but i have read books from the author david eddings and he was pretty good at writing fantasy fiction books. But thats probably all of the fantasy fiction books i ever read though but thats okay. I read about 3 books from david eddings and his books were pretty long.
I can't believe I had died on the last section of the Cave of Trials last time... I also can't believe you don't get a better prize for beating it. -.-
QFT. How lame.
@Omna's question: Without a doubt, without even thinking, the best character I've ever seen is The Neocount of Merentha, Gerald Tarrant, from C.S. Friedman's Coldfire Trilogy. Without going into too much detail on him... well I can't really explain him without doing that, so I'll just spoiler it for those who haven't read the books and might want to:
The planet Tarrant lives on has a magical quality called the "fae" which responds to human desires, thoughts, etc. Believe strongly enough in something (and this depends on how much others believe it could happen) and it will happen. The fae responds most strongly to negative emotions - if you're deathly afraid a troll will appear in the night and kill you, most likely one will. Tarrant took advantage of this and made a pact with the fae: hundreds of years ago, he ,being one of the most powerful priests of his time, an iconic representation of good to all, took his wife and kids down in the basement, carved them alive into little pieces, and sacrificed them to the dark fae. In return, he now lives forever in his new vampire-like form, wields a sword that means death to anyone but him, and is ruler of an entire region called simply "The Forest". He's also an adept - one of the few humans born with the ability to see the fae naturally. He is most ass-kicking, evil, creepy, and downright awesome sorceror I've ever seen put into writing. He just oozes style in everything he does. The awesome thing is that even though he's lived for hundreds of years, the story he's in is the story of his redemption. He's the protagonist, in other words. So yeah, if you haven't read "Black Sun Rising", go do it now. You won't regret it.
@papers: Looking at my case-study project for my grammar class, I count... 38 pages. Yikes. No wonder I got an extension on that sucker and turned it in midway through the next quarter.
Congrats Seph for RotW. I'll be putting the new AotW up whenever Omna makes the new thread tonight. Also, Alacar, would you mind putting that list I made into post #2? I'd appreciate it.
I see a few people were banned in the time I was gone as well... A shame, but it happens.
I need some sleep, but I'll probably end up working on my entry for this weeks av/sig contest instead. It's supposed to be something about life/creation/rebirth. I plan to use anime, of course, but I just need to come up with a good idea first.
Hey all, recently got back from school, and currently need to whittle away at chem work while at the same time trying to playtest T2(Talk on AIM if you want to play T2, less then 3 weeks for me to test) as well as analyze the card pool for the clan contest.
Grats Sephy on the RotW! I always wondered what Owa stood for, and now its so obvious that it would be One Winged Angel, yet I never thought that.
Also Alacar, if you think theres alot to do right now in WoW, wait until the later levels when you have half the world or so to explore.
I never really read the tolkein books but i have read books from the author david eddings and he was pretty good at writing fantasy fiction books. But thats probably all of the fantasy fiction books i ever read though but thats okay. I read about 3 books from david eddings and his books were pretty long.
David Eddings is amazing! I've read the Belgariad, The Elenium, The Tamuli, Polgara the Sorceress, and Belgarath the Sorcerer. I guess I should go back and read the Mallorean at some point, but that would probably involve re-reading the Belgariad, and I don't relish trying to find a copy of those 5 books again, and then trying to find the 5 new books of the Mallorean.
Well, seeing as how I don't have much to do today, I'd be up for some MWS if anyone else is. I've been itching to test out the new decks I made. Just drop me a pm if you want to play in like a half hour or so.
Congrats of RotW, Seph. I hope I getting in the running sometime soon.
Hmm...thats a hard decision your putting on us Alacar. First of all, Zombify is out of the question, as I feel the other two are way more beneficial and are stronger overall. Now that it comes down to Reanimate and Exume.
Reanimate:
1 Mana
Only You Get
Loss of Life
Exume:
2 Mana
All Players Get
No Loss of Life
It really comes down to personal opinion, and for that I have to go with Reanimate, only because of T1 Entomb->Reanimate=GG
Are you insane putting one of the two best reanimation spells ever in the set? I'll go with Exhume, for early on in the game it has essentially no drawback. Second turn Akroma after an Entomb FTW.
Quote from Ethersphere »
Guh...has anyone in the 'house ever heard of "Second Life?"
Unfortunately, due to the magic of Something Awful, yes. Why people would spend their money on another life is beyond me. Let's not forget about the silly sexual escapades and, of course, the furries. Oh God, the furries... if you haven't read Something Awful's biweekly series exploring Second Life (it comes out every other Saturday), read them NOW. They're hilarious. Actually, I know a furry in real life, and he's a good person.
I'm back in New Jersey now. Nothing really much going on.
I think Zombify should be in the set, not Exhume or Reanimate. The power level of Alacar's set is high enough as it is, we should start picking some cards with lower power level. So I vote for Zombify, because of the strength of the two other cards.
Second Life: Heard of it, I have no intention of joining it. I once joined a similar program, called "AW" or "Alpha World", where the big draw was being able to make buildings and such in a virtual reality world, buildings that would stay there, then you could chat or roleplay in the place that you created. Second Life, on the other hand, is mostly based on the avatars, as far as I'm aware. I know it has a big Furry following. Another draw is the in-game shopping malls (not sure how this works), and the fact that the game is made for adults.
Furries: I really find MW's comment about this amusing. As far as I know, all the bits about this community are based completely on the worst parts of the community. Much like rumors about fans of TCGs I could mention. I've not met a single person that meets any of the generalizations about the fandom (though I know that a few exist), and I know many people. And I'm not sure I'd take to heart anything that Something Awful (or MTV for that matter) says bad about a community. Y'know, unless it was an expose on someone other than themselves.
Mr. Stuff: Tell me... Have you beaten Zelda yet? And if you have, would you have preferred if the storyline ended pre, or middle of, the credits?
Now to bed.

I'd take Exhume. All you need is Tormod's Crypt in case of something randomly being in their yard. It does play less well in group games, though.
Congrats of RotW, Seph. I hope I getting in the running sometime soon.
Windmills do not work that way!
Reanimate:
1 Mana
Only You Get
Loss of Life
Exume:
2 Mana
All Players Get
No Loss of Life
It really comes down to personal opinion, and for that I have to go with Reanimate, only because of T1 Entomb->Reanimate=GG

Here's another one!
My helpdesk should you need me.
