In my humble experience (since we're keeping track, this time from a 28 year-old ) the harder you try the less likely you are to find someone. Things have a funny way of falling into place when you just let things take their course. Don't take this the wrong way, but since you've arrived at college your posts here have been predominately been about what girl you're chasing after, and it seems to change weekly. You're trying too hard. Instead focus on meeting people having fun and just plain getting to know people (oh yeah, and your school work!). Sooner or later you'll connect with someone. This works much better than picking someone who interests you and chasing after them.
Kraj FTW! Seriously... I wouldn't have found the wonderful woman that I did find if not for letting things just take their course. As the saying goes, "You can't go looking for love. It goes looking for you." Or something like that.
In other news: Honeywell needs to make better products. Last year their thermostat in the apartment that I live in broke (now fixed, obv). Yesterday, it was a brand new freaking cash box that I bought the same day. The lock on it doesn't even lock. And when it does it gets stuck and bends the key all out of shape. I need to go return that today which blows... then pick up another box and this time a seperate Master lock.
Since we're really getting close to THAT time of year here's a fair question: Know someone incredibly hard to shop for (at any time of the year)? And what do you buy for a person like that?
Why I mention that is because my girlfriend isn't exactly the easiest to shop for. It could be that I'm just picky but I gotta say I haven't found anything that I could think of that screams "Perfect!" Or heck even "That'll work!" Thankfully I have a week and a half before I gotta order cause I'm still stuck. (And note: not really asking for suggestions for gifts - yet.)
Edit: Welcome back, Nai! and hello and belated welcome to Yusuke! Guitars really truely are wonderful things... I don't play one tho (tho I die for the chance to).
My mom is -incredibly- difficult to shop with. It seems like she's usually busy with -something-, but I'd be hard-pressed to say what her interests or hobbies are. I mean, my dad is really easy to shop for; he likes baseball, jazz, computers, and lots of other things. My sister is a little tougher, but she just moved to New Jersey from the tropics, so she needs warm clothes. I have no idea what to get my mom.
I tend to get 'difficult targets' utilitarian things; CD holders, stationery, stuff like that. (Not -too- utilitarian. A spindle of blank CDs is super useful, but not a good gift.)

So, of the ones that weren't me, I got -1- right, which is the same as guessing. Go me! Incidentally, my best friend's name is X. Victor Qin, I wear tube socks all of the time, I love water, don't dance, have only ever been arrested for swimming where I wasn't supposed to be swimming, have never seen a human being born, have never seriously injured anyone, have wavy rat's-nest hair (it's in braids in my profile picture), and have never broken a bone.
Crab theft story - Well, I grew up on a one-square-mile tropical island. We have Coconut Crabs there, which are enormous and powerful crabs that live in palm trees or on the ground. Their claws are strong enough to rip open a coconut, so they are dangerous to people, though it's not like they're aggressive. They eat chicken if you feed it to them. (There are almost no cars on the island and the speed limit is 15, so wandering in the middle of the street isn't dangerous or anything.) Since we didn't want to touch it, we got it to grab my sandal, and we dragged it to the side of the road. It did not let go. It didn't move anywhere, it just sat there with my sandal in it's claw. We decided to leave it there, figuring that it would drop the shoe eventually and leave. When we came back to the spot later that night, crab and shoe were both gone.
Indeed, MW..... I didn't find Arguas until I stopped looking.... Its painful because I was ready to stop looking, and then he became such an entwined part of my life that now I can't bear the thought of my life without him... its excruciatingly painful... excruciatingly. *Sigh* Ok to get my mind off this ****, I'm going to do my guesses.. as true to form, I'm going to spoiler my guesses, and I haven't looked at the answers... i have looked at everyon'es guesses but mainly only to see if that person got mine right.. i've laughed at those who have (all) gotten mine wrong.

This week's Regular is Mamelon, winner of Nicest Member and Best Debater 2006.
Mamelon, as she's known, prefers to stick with being called that name, though she's heard a variety of nicknames: Maeleon, Marmalade, Mame, Lamemon, Madam Elon, Melmalon, Mallow, Ma'am, Mamalon, Mamlon, Malelon.. Come up with your own!
She claims the truth behind the name is it being a character she identifies with in a short story she'd worked on a while ago. Coming to MTGSalvation with Photon and ethersphere, she lurked for a while and then came to the site, finding a home in the Debate forums, but trying to bounce all over the site. She spends equal time there, and in the Clans, claiming no real preference.
Currently, Mamelon has grown to like Vesuvan Shapeshifter, because of its versatility. Using them in her current favorite deck, an unnamed monoblue morph deck, she plans to combo it with Brine Elemental. We will never be able to untap again.
When she's not copying your creatures or posting on the forums, she can be found reading, writing, watching anime, or even exercising and cooking. She's also an avid player of video games and role-playing games, much like her sibling and his boyfriend.
She enjoys the Coffeehouse greatly, particularly the wide variety of regulars, and the fact that we keep the conversation interesting and friendly. Of herself, she prefers to keep quiet, claiming that anything interesting has already been shared on the Coffeehouse. She does enjoy the Chai tea and the chocolate chip cookies, though.
Mamelon hopes to one day have a family of her own, supporting it by being a professional writer. We all wish you the best, Mams.
When asked who she enjoys amid the Coffeehouse, she claims that everyone is interesting enough, but she admits that the newer regulars kevinliu2333 and Umgenni Kemo are welcome sights.
And that's it for Regular of the Week for Thanksgiving. Happy Turkey Day.
Also..
Geek Mp3
A double-shot of weeklies on one post! And this time we've got a four-pack of MP3s, 2 of which are rapidly growing web classics.
The first is the obligatory Final Fantasy-related MP3. I own every FF soundtrack out there, so I'd like to share. This one is a good one, one I've been listening to more and more lately. To Zanarkand, from Final Fantasy X. It's the song played in the opening movie, and very touching.
The second is quickly becoming popular, at least on GBStv. It's a classic YTMND. The Picard Song. "Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the U.S.S. Enterprise" shall forever remain one of my favorite lines in a song. The video is even more entertaining.
The third is also another internet fad song, and another techno-mix of words. This time, Lord of the Rings gets a treatment with They're Taking the Hobbits to Isengard, a short and catchy tune, though a little repetitive.
The final song in this slew is from the King of All Cosmos: Fugue #7777, which is his theme song in Katamari Damacy.
We :heart:love:heart: this song. It's so small, and yet so massive with the organ accompaniment.

Well people, I'd love to stick around, but I've got gaming to do with buddies today, amazingly.
We are bored. This forum doesn't roll too well.
Thanks alacar and everyone else that supports me. Yeah i hope i really get it too although im not too worried about it since there will be 2 more extra openings and if i dont get this one i have a pretty good chance to get the other open job positions.
I'm already where i'll be for THanksgiving barring a hour and half drive but other than that i'm relaxing kinda.... bleh.. ok off b4 i get depressed again. later
I couldn't resist the temptation to look at the answers first, but seeing them, I notice little things that act as clues if you know a few things about the people here. Pretty neat.
So, I'm done for the week (sort of - I have a 12 hour day Friday :(). Yatta! I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow, but Thursday I'm probably going to one of our relatives' house for T-day.
Right now, I'm thinking of taking a nap. I just got done making this for the weekly contest, and I'm tired.
@omna: thanks omna for the goodluck i can use all of the luck i can. Also goodluck to you and your goals in life as well.
@Mr. Stuff: Yeah I have done that before a few times when i was making up some hours for clinicals and even 10 hours a day in the summer at clinicals seem like days for me...
Well i am going to get off here cya all later and once again happy early thanksgiving!
So... According to you all, I am a tango-dancing roleplayer with a cat-like phobia for non-bath water, who has filmed a live birth
I wonder, does it surprise anyone here to learn which fact was mine? There's an interesting tale behind it, but I'll leave that to be told some other day, suffice to say that I didn't commit the act of vandalism, although those who did pointed in my direction.
Also, I'm surprised that I got that many answers right Four out of sixteen (five if you count my own answer, which I switched on purpose).
@ Crimson Avatar:
Who is Alfa Clayton?
@ Nemcon:
A fear of tube socks...?
@ Omna:
Ah? You almost guessed my fact correctly?
@ Photon Eater:
That was a cool game, well led

@ Mamelon:
Congrats on becomming regular of the week!
@ KevinLiu:
Good luck on getting that job!
@ Mr. Stuff:
Cool image Which contest did you create it for?
Y'know, each time I post on this site I look at my post count and wonder where all these posts are coming from. Do you think some nice admin is upping my post count for me? Maybe I have a post count modifier, so every post I make counts for more than one! Or maybe I just post a hell of a lot. Who knows.
I WILL be updating that darn live journal today, even if I don't want to. I've been avoiding it for the past two days, because of WHAT I need to update it with. You know those topics you don't want to broach because they're painful? Yeah, I need to update with one of those, and I've been trying not to do so.
But I know I have to, because my LJ is really meant for one person (other than me) so she can learn all about me, all about my quirks and my problems. And... I don't want to inject myself in her life, adding all my problems to her own, without her knowing what's going on. She deserves her peace, and deserves the forewarning.
In other news, my mom and I have reached an agreement, and will probably be finding a family therapist to come to our house and help us with our problems. My mom has further extended the hand of truce by not only getting me the foot rest I wanted for my room, she also got me a hamper for my dirty clothes (I had been asking for these two items for MONTHS, and even offered to go with her to help her with shopping on the day.) She also did something that...
Well, I didn't think she should have done it, but she already did it. Having heard that the next shipment of Wii's would only be 'sometime before Christmas', and apparently having actually listened when I said there was no way for me to get one (Christmas rush will bar me from the next shipment, after Christmas sales from the one following that, and so on), she actually went on eBay to buy me one. I was worried when she told me this (she needed my help entering payment information), because I thought that she would get scammed. Well... I'm still worried. There's the obvious increased price (not by much, actually. Zelda and Call of Duty 3, plus Wii and the Sports, all for around 600. Probably $100-150 price increase), but everything else seems to be on the up-and-up.
However, this event was not without its problems. Now, I'm not saying I'm cursed. That was a joke. However, I don't doubt the fact that I have extraordinary bad luck. In this case, my mom signed up for PayPal to pay for it. And... Well, usually, you can sign up for a PayPal account, input your credit card, and go. This time... Apparently PayPal wants us to link it to our bank account, and then verify it. Which will take 2-3 business days. We called PayPal's customer support, talked to them for about 20 minutes, and even they were baffled and said there was nothing for it but to verify an account.
I'm just hoping the seller of the Wii will wait 2-3 days before we can send him the payment.
This will mean, however, that either Friday or Monday, I'll be the proud owner of not only the new Nintendo, but ALSO a copy of Twilight Princess!
I'll be working off the $500 for the Wii, of course. I'm not allowing her to pay for this on her own. I'll do whatever work she needs. But... I think that, for a while, we should be on good terms. I'll continue being the good boy I always am, and... I think Mom might be laying off.
In other news, glad to hear that Discord is going great. I might just get back into Magic and download the software so I can play with you guys, if I have the time between FF12, FF11, Xbox 360 and the Wii. Don't count on it though.
Sadly, I don't know you guys well enough to do that little trivia contest. However, you can be assured that I'm sticking around this Cafe until I do, at the very least!
Wombat, I know how you feel. Yes, I'm young, but I've felt before that I'm never going to find someone. Well... I was wrong, at least for now. My ladyfriend, Carrie, is the best thing that's happened to me yet. I'm not sure if this is the end of me being a bachelor (probably not), but I'm very happy with her, and that's saying a lot for me.
That's it for my update for now, and maybe even for the day. The new meds are working fine (maybe a little weak, but I can ignore the rest of the pain), and I think I might have dry sockets, which... Wouldn't surprise me, really. We'll see, tomorrow, what the doc says. Until then, I'll be drinking my Arizona Green tea and Fruit Punch Gatorade while RPing with friends (hopefully) and watching good movies like Cars, Over the Hedge, and My Best Friend's Wedding.
Hey, how come last time I was gone for a day, there were six pages, and this time there are only like 2?
Anyways, I just had some craziness trying to get my username changed to have only one 56. Apparently, I had made strongbad56 when I started, which I sorta remember, but I misspelled the email address, so I wasn't able to get it confirmed, so I made strongbad5656. Well, sneaky pretty much merged the two accounts, but my avatar, sig, and profile were all deleted, plus the email was wrong. Anyway, to make a long story short, after much PMing, it's fixed now, and my username has only one 56 like I wanted it to from the start (oh, and I have a new avvy).
Yeah, in other news, I'm leaving tommorrow morning to go up to Oregon for Thanksgiving with my aunt, uncle, and cousins, who have a house near Medford, if anyone knows where that is. So, I won't be able to post for the weekend.
Oh, and no one guessed my fact thing right :(. It's not really that surprising though, as no one here really knows me. I'll explain my story, I guess:
Yeah, when I was 7, the first day we moved into our house, there was a matress leaning against a wall in my parent's room. There is a long hallway going into the room, so my brothers and I were running full speed against the mattress. It was realy fun, but then once I ran into the mattress, fell on the floor, and landed on my arm weird and broke it. I know, it's kind of anticlimactic, but it's pretty funny telling people that I broke my arm by running into a mattress.
Well have a safe trip strong. Thanks guys for giving kevin goodluck for tommorrow's job opportunity for him. I would like to say hello and happy thanksgiving to everyone as well. I hope everyone will have great tasting turkey. Maybe Kevin's mom will make turkey chow mein(joke from wild arms.);)

I had a half day in school today, and the rest of the week is off!
I'm not really a fan of T-day, though. It's only good if you like food and family, and I'm not too fond of either.
My best friend's grama died a day ago, so I have a wake and funeral to go to the day after Thanksgiving.

You're posting in the Coffeehouse and you don't like food?!?!?! ;). I love Thanksgiving, mostly because I love my cousins since they are the same age as me, so we always have a lot of fun. Plus, the food is great in my family. Sorry about your friend's grandma, good luck to him/her.

@Mr. Stuff: Yeah I have done that before a few times when i was making up some hours for clinicals and even 10 hours a day in the summer at clinicals seem like days for me...
Well i am going to get off here cya all later and once again happy early thanksgiving!

@ Mr. Stuff:

Ta all!
My helpdesk should you need me.

I'm not really a fan of T-day, though. It's only good if you like food and family, and I'm not too fond of either.
My best friend's grama died a day ago, so I have a wake and funeral to go to the day after Thanksgiving.
You're posting in the Coffeehouse and you don't like food?!?!?! ;). I love Thanksgiving, mostly because I love my cousins since they are the same age as me, so we always have a lot of fun. Plus, the food is great in my family. Sorry about your friend's grandma, good luck to him/her.
