D20 does seem like a natural choice, but then again, I don't think Mr. Stuff or Shaharazad have had much experience with it.
But it would be the most intuitive system to use, in my personal opinion- and even those not familiar can help and make decisions based solely on the fact that traditional gaming conventions are fairly ubiquitous.

I'm experienced with D20. I don't like it for forgotten realms specifically, but I actually use the system for warcraft. Now, I don't know much about it, but I think I should be able to get by.
So I'm fine with d20
I don't know specifics, like, I don't know all the prestigue classes and obscure feats (outside of the warcraft universe). So I guess if anybody used those as examples, I would appreciate a bit of background info.
And not just like..
"undead totem is so 1337! the third feat is a must"
Not that any of us would talk like that, but you get the idea.
OMG we should be totally crazy and make some sort of wild pastiched monster of a character from a handful of utterly contrasting d20 sourcebooks- like a Cleric of Pelor with a machine gun and a bunch of feats from Call of Cthulu!

Now that sounds like a plan.
I can do D20, sure enough. I just don't talk about it as much because the last time I played it was five years ago, not counting Neverwinter Nights and similar games. I still have the sourcebooks.
Hmmm... it's hard to say. I really would rather stay away from Wizard, personally. I think a class with 3/4ths BAB is a good option, possibly with some degree of spellcasting/manifesting available to it, allowing the character to have some really wild feat possibilities open to it.
So I suppose my vote goes towards Psychic Warrior from 3.5 Expanded Psionics.

Psychic Warrior, Bard, and Duskblade (from the Player's Handbook II) are all neat choices, but the Duskblade has a severely limited selection of spells. Psychic Warriors are fun to build though. Of course we'll have to prestige her up.
I do have a few humorous sourcebooks, with stuff like the Beatnik (sp?) Bard Prestige Class (Requirements: 9 ranks Perform (Poetry and Drum)) and other stuff.
I like the psionic warrior idea as well. Perhaps give them something simular to specialization. I can also contribute 2nd edition info from pscionicists, which, I know for a fact, hasn't been completly transfered to d20 yet.
Oh and an offtopic post, I seriously need some magic help. Have an extended tourney and I need sideboard help.
As you can see, the sideboard is kindof unfocused. It's main job is to attack the graveyard reliance in extended. I put the Grunt and sphinx in there as some muscle I can pull in against strong aggro/burn and random aggro decks.
I normally wouldn't ask for such off-topic help, but the tourney is in 2 hours. I'll appreciate any advice, even uninformed.
Huh, what? Psychic Warrior? Sure, it's one of my favorite classes. Although I'll have to say that no Psychic Warrior ever needs prestige classes; the character build itself is so versatile and has so much potential that there's no need for it. And puh-lease, if we're gonna be building one from the ground up I have to be a part of it; I know I've mentioned how much of a monster Mica was after level 7.
Well, I've been annoyingly sick and using that downtime to pick up and finish Kuzunoha Raidou (Den review to follow soon!), so I have some subjects to catch up on.
Most difficult RPG I've ever played: That honor goes to Unlimited SaGa. Seriously, I'm not modest enough to deny that I'm a serious gamer, and this game still manages to give me a sound beating when I so much as slip up. A close second would be, as Kevin mentioned, 7th Saga for the SNES. That was another game on my list of "RE-MAKE PLZ" but we switched threads and I didn't feel like adding all the rest of those games on.
Graphics in games: Meh. I still bust out my NES RPGs, so I don't really give a damn about graphics at the end of the day. Let me rephrase; I don't care about the prettyshiny factor of a game, but I always appreciate when a game has a definite visual theme that's prevalent throughout. Two great examples of this would be Shin Megami Tensei 3 and Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song. Neither one of them were developed with wowie graphics in mind, but they still end up looking better than most other Ps2 games because there's a consistent and creative visual "flow" through the whole thing. I haven't played it yet, but I'm going to guess that Okami can brag this as well.
So yes. I am not dead. Trying to play through Kuzunoha Raidou with a monster cold is annoying, though. Joyd, I'd highly recommend you pick this one up; it's got the Pokemon vibe (of course it does, MegaTen birthed Pokemon), lots of jazz-age style, and it's really addictive.
EDIT: I don't know if you D&D players knew this - I didn't and that makes me feel like a bad occultist - but the Terrasque isn't an original D&D invention. It was a monster said to live in the Rhone, in France, and was sighted around 1781. A large turtle-shelled creature with the face of a fat lizard, a huge britsley mane, chubby feet, and a long reptilian tail. I tell ya, I learn a lot from MegaTen =)
Well, I got morrowind from my friend. I have to start saving as often as possible because I keep accidentally stealing items. Once I opened a chest when I didn't know someone was in the room, then I saw a "notice" posted on the wall and tried to read it. NO! The game calls that stealing and gives you no way to read a "notice" posted on the ****ing wall. How does that work ? At least they didn't mess that up in Obivion too.
And, I didn't want to ask you guys this, but I really don't want to lose to spanglegluppet. Can you please vote for me in BotU ?

Do you have the Xbox or PC version? I'm assuming Xbox.
You can not pick up books and papers, and still read them. If you push B after reading it, you can avoid picking it up and just read it without stealing it.

In the first room after making a character, immediately after you finish making it, there is a Limeware platter on a shelf on the wall to your left.
If you can grab the platter and drop it before the guard gets to you (not very difficult to do), he'll let you off with a warning and you can then steal the platter unmolested, it's worth a decent chunk of money. I don't know why he won't stop you from stealing it a second time, but I'm not asking.
If you don't drop it in time, he'll take the platter away and warn you. It's virtually risk free. You only get one such warning, though, and only before you talk to Sellus Gravius to get the papers to take to Caius Cosades.
For any Morrowind tips or assistance, feel free to PM me, I'll be glad to help.

Off topic: Well, it turns out I did okay without assistance on my sideboard (thank god), took first place in the extended tourney.
Thats awesome! Congrats Shaharazad! How many players were at the tournament? Ah I remember those good old days when i went to several 50-70 player legacy tournaments I didnt win any though just got top 8 in most of them. I havent been to a legacy tournament for a long while though mostly because of college and life in general. Anyways once again congrats Shaharazad and I am going to head out soon to go to clinicals see you all later!
Alacar gets a +1 bagh nahk for getting the 100th post!
Psychic Warrior sounds like our class then.
I think we should probably level it up to a certain degree, but not too far. Personally, I would like to avoid Prestige Classes, as there are sooo few decent Psychic Warrior prestige classes available- only the Warmind and Illithid Slayer are remotely useable from the core psionic books. The Warmind takes a hit to the PsyWar's already narrow power capacity, and is sort of boring, and the Illithid Slayer is remarkably campaign-specific in it's abilities and features.
There are some okay PrC's in Complete Psionic for it, but that book is pretty uncommon among non-psionic fans, so yeah... there are some advanced classes in d20 Modern that might be a hoot to utilize, but the sad thing is that the PsyWar is more effective as both a caster and a warrior on it's own than it would be making use of class options from a setting that is so low-magic/power.
What level do we want to go to? For me, 9 is the perfect level, in that you have access to almost half of your abilities, you've gotten to that point where you can do your classes major "iconic" things, and you qualify for just about any feat out there, but you are still not at the point at which you are so powerful you are praying at the Temple of Infinite Lives.
P.S. Only 4 days until Josh's and my 4th anniversary! We don't really have anything planned, but I am excited anyway.

I'd actually go for level 12, myself. When playing Mica, that was when he really seemed to come into his own and start doing things incredibly well, so I'm going to venture a guess and say it's that way for most Psychic Warrior builds. Level 9 would be fine, though.
The Warmind is an interesting class - I really like the combat styles because of the things they can do for a pure fighter - but yeah, Psychic Warriors just don't need prestige classes. In fact, most of the time a Psychic Warrior who goes into a prestige class loses a great deal of poewer and playability for it.
What kind of equipment and powers do we want for this guy? I'm definitely throwing in a vote for a large deep crystal weapon and Empathic/Hostile Empathic Transfer. Both are staples of any Psychic Warrior build.
Who said we wanted it to be a guy? And who said we had to make one character? Why not a woman to go with this guy? Partners. To kind of appeal to both genders. I know the game is dominated by male players, but we could double the fun by making 2 characters.
Level 9 seems to be fine. As for equipment, we need to follow the steps in the character creation process: We need to pick his ability scores first.

A woman and a man together? That sounds sort of repulsive and unnatural to me.
Well, abilities scores and a race. But more importantly, what system will we use to determine the stats- point buy (and if so, how many points), dice roll (not very applicable), etc?
I would say a point buy is a good option- and since we want the character to be memorable, we might as well just set the point buy high for wow factor- I like 32 points, myself.
The reason why I'm rooting for a male character, Alacar, is twofold. Firstly, most of N20's membership is male, so the logic seems to work. Secondly, fantasy women repulse me with their chainmail bikinis and smarmy grins, and I want to avoid that as much as possible. Besides, if we're going to be making a half-giant (and if we're making a Psychic Warrior we damn well should), he's gonna be male for a number of reasons, aesthetic ones among them.
As for partners - that's fine, so long as the woman doesn't turn into a dragonwhore or something. But if we do make two characters, we should make them different classes to play off each other.
I didn't expect chainmail bikinis or dragonwhores. I am perfectly happy seeing a dwarf woman or a half-orc woman. Nothing wrong with that. Just thought it'd be a little PC, that's all. If we're gonna be putting these characters out there, we'd better be appealing.
Well, I suppose so. Then again, what's appealing to most guys on the site is a whole different ballgame than what's appealing to me.
One of the biggest reasons I don't want to finish Unnamed: I know all the artwork I'll find for female creatures will be ugly, because the vast majority of fantasy art women are, in fact, unattractive and barely dressed. Even the clerics. The only fantasy women I've ever seen with respectable dress and realistic breast size have been drawn for Terry Goodkind books.
Not like most of the men are much better, though >_<;;
My vote is in favor of the partner, too. I feel that we should go with something that works with the male, a different character that can work in cohesion and synergy

Is anyone other than Photon and myself familiar with the Lurk? It's a base class from the Complete Psionics, and a VERY interesting take on the Rogue. If we're going psionic for the other character, that might be a good choice.
Of course, if we want to go core there's always a Bard. But one thing...NO SPOONY BARDS. I hate it when male bards are limp-wristed, long-haired satyrists and female bards are wannabe druids named Silky or something >_<;;
It's a bard which entertains by blade juggling and weapons display. They are also in high demand as actors for thier ability to make the most dramatic and impressive combat on stage without endangering lives.
They are slightly more focused on melee combat. They are by no means fighters, but are experts at making calculated strikes and can also intimidate, or hold enemies at bay with impressive manuvers.
This isn't necessarily a class, but a concept for the character.
I don't think we should get overly concerned with the class, but more focus on the idea behind the character. We can then pick the class that best fits the concept.
This is the bard that I would like to see.
I think it would be excelent for a female bard as well.
I'm imagining a street performer who wears dark, fitted leathers. She's completly covered up by layers, boots, gloves, even a hat. She's very much a cosmopolitan swashbuckler type who wears a mask for entertaining to preserve a sense of anonymity and also to enhance the performance with mystery.
But it would be the most intuitive system to use, in my personal opinion- and even those not familiar can help and make decisions based solely on the fact that traditional gaming conventions are fairly ubiquitous.
