Vikes and ( Joyd and Ray, hide your eyes!) Green Bay 4L
Actually, you hit the wrong one; while I'm currently happy in Minnesota and I've spent my life in the Marshall Islands, my folks are from the great state of Wisconsin, so I was raised to respect the Packers, though I don't acutally care too much for football. (I don't mind watching a game with friends, but I don't really follow it or know anything about it.)
This week's anime: Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch
This is the story of Mermaid Princess of the North Pacific Ocean, Luchia Nanami, and her friends (also mermaid princesses, but from different oceans) Hannon and Lina. They fight the evil lord Gaito by transforming into idol singers and using the magical power of song to defeat his minions.
Yeah, it's a generic magical girl show. You have the cute sidekick animal (a penguin named Hippo), three princess/highschool students who magically transform, and a bishounen evil villain who likes to randomly drink glasses of wine while in hot tubs and otherwise generally look effeminate. If you don't like magical girl shows, this is probably not for you.
I like it because it has a decent love story (which I'm a sucker for) and amazing music. Mainly it's the music. Literally half of the anime music I have comes from this show - there's a wealth of it and I love it all. The music is what drew me in to the show, and what kept me watching through all 30 some odd episodes released so far. So if you're a fan of Sailor Moon (Photon, this means you) or of J-pop, you might give this a shot.
@KK yugioh was fun back in the day. its still fun to pick up one and over again now and then.
My Highlights today start off teh week great and fresh.
So that new girl mary right well shes home coming rep for our class... now if i play my cards right...
2nd
I got my First Solo tackle of the season. Totaling in 2 solo tackles and 4 assists. O yeah we won 42-6 too.... it was pretty freaking sweet.
So My week is off to a good start. I hope yall have a good week, too. I dont chime in that much to post but i read
Long workday then japanese language club this evening, entry fee $20. No time to work on my second job, so i'll be very very busy tomorrow, maybe even working from home so the commute won't interfere.
right now I'm mighty unhappy about the way things are going, toom uch work and not enough time to get out and socialize, it's starting to make me hate people.
First of all, I'm really sorry about that. Secondly, how are you being emo? Being emo is being whiny for no good reason (or to be cool,) and pretending you want to kill yourself. You, on the other hand, have both A) something real to be upset about, and B) aren't whining or writing bad poetry about 'candles of despair' or other nonsense, Goddamn, it's a sad world where people can't feel saddness without expressing it as a weakness.
I am so writing a poem called Candles of Despair now, but filling it with lines all about sunshine and rainbows and dolphins.
Tchau, already did. (I find it very difficult to compare Cranial Insertion articles to other articles. On one hand, I find them very helpful, but on the other hand, they're a semiregular feature, so each one doesn't stick out as much.)
Today was excellent. In between my two classes I had a nice long nap to make up for the sleep that I lost while my roommate was watching the Chargers game. It ended at 1:00 in the morning, and I got up an hour before my first class. After my nap I went to my first-year seminar, which is really helping me to think critically and deconstruct arguments. Now I'm going out to the gym to exercise.
Alright, peeps, it's time for a new reckless experiment! Today: The Tetragrammaton and the Cthulhu Prayer- do they work?
Today, I will try all possible pronounciations of יּהּוֹהּ (Yod He Vav He or YHWH in English) and Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn in attempt to get struck by divine lightning/summon Dread Cthulhu, respectively. If I do not report back tomorrow, you will know I have succeeded.
Hi, i have wanted a nintendo wii and in fact started the discussion a month or two ago about game consoles, but after much reserach into all 3 consoles....I think i am gonna get a Xbox 360, because it has all the games i want coming out and i may get a wii sometime in the future but i would rather wait to see what it is like. Also I have been getting slews of homework, 40 pages of world history notes anyone....? and just starting the scarlet letter,
well peace out
-Ray
I can't move. In my absence I did 300 katas, read a book and a half, wrote 2 reports, took 17 tests, and did 20+ hours worth of homework in one week. Also, I'm one slip away from a detention.
Oh my ****ing God, I HATE The Scarlet Letter with a passion. I had to read it twice throughout my high school career. I swear to God that Hawthorne uses big words and long, vague sentences because it gives him a big hard-on. It is HELL to read. swishandamiss, I officially pity you. Once you're finished with it do me a favor and burn it or tear it, or mutilate it in some way. Because it sucks. Hawthorne's short stories are good, but that's because his bull**** writing style is done in small, easier-to-swallow doses. And don't get me started on the symbolism in the book. It is EVERYWHERE. I'm a very concrete reader (I blame it on my Asperger's syndrome) and am horrible at looking for hidden meanings of things. And when I have to do it, I want to kill things. I just don't roll that way. It takes away from the enjoyment of the book. Last year, which was the second time I read the book, my teacher told us that if it weren't for symbolism and other non-concrete forms of communication, we'd be no better than animals. Well call me an animal then, since it is my belief that symbolism and ambiguous writing are bull****. You will hate the book. Trust me.
Now that I've got that off my chest.... I'm currently semi-swamped in homework. I have to read a chapter of a book for my first-year seminar and I have a three-page paper due on Thursday for my religion class. I'm not worried though, since the paper is easy.
Nice knowing you. Hey, maybe you can invoke the Almighty and the Deep Ones together, and they can fight it out with rusty machetes and lightning bolts, and you can cut a calf for the winner (or a kid brother, if Squidface wins.)
Okay, this is getting ridiculous. People keep voting for the Cranial Extraction article and it keeps tying with mine.
Don't look now but you're up by one at the time of this posting. And already voted for ya!

If you're reading this I can add to the rant in a couple of sentences because I too hated that book:
Read up on your history of the time period and you'll have a deeper grasp of the plot of the book than if you ever read the book itself. That's how obvious everything is in it...
Yeah, Scarlet Letter isn't an easy weekend read, and even for the sort of book you read in high school English, it's still a pain to get through. Some people liked it, but most didn't. I've had bigger problems with other books, but tastes vary. (I though Crime and Punishment was amazing and not at all hard to get through despite its bulk, but I struggled with Pride and Prejudice, which most of my friends loved.)
I think the ending to The Scarlet Letter is a rather unexpected a cool twist. Unfortunately, I didn't actually understand what the hell happened. I didn't even get it until someone else talked about it and then I went back and read it. I was like: "Ooooooooooohhhhhhh...."
Yeah, not worth it. About the only thing it's good for is understanding all the jokes & references about the book you'll invariably encounter throughout your life.

Oh gawd, you don't want to get me started on Jane Austen... I've had to read/report on her works so much, I do thinke ey'd rather disdainfully throw myself into yon boiling scopper of water than read anymore about the british aristocracy... *strangles self for typing like that, and for making up words that sound british*
Ok, moving on..
What's happened to the clan leaders? I know I keep saying this, but we could really use a new thread. Activity in the House has slowed to a crawl compared to what it used to be.

I'm having a hard time believing the music is THAT good, based on what I have seen. But, I may be tempted to give it a try.
Way ahead of you.
