well...my school has had quite a few ...stories and adventures that I have either seen or heard about. There was actually a nationally published book based on a year of life in my school about 5 years or so back...
Speaking of books...I forgot i need to read 4 books in 3 weeks before school starts up again...so yea...and the books are all boring too...I have no idea how im going to pull this off. Go procrastination?
Oh man. Nemcon. I'd suggest trying to find some of them on tape, heh. I mean, 4 books in 3 weeks is quite an undertaking unless they're all short stories O_o;;

Haha. I read super fast. I read 1000 pages a week

I'm taking AP history the year after this. I already have a ticket in
Priest, sort of...theres 2 that are required as part of the school prorgram...and the other 2 are for AP US History..
Well, i also have about 2 weeks of vacation before school, and there will probably be not much better to do then read 2-3 of them during those 2 weeks...I guess that will help with the reading quite a bit..then I only have 1-2 to read for real during my free time..but this stress about having to read them all is worrying me quite a bit...

I'll just say what I would do.
Hmm ... I would suggest that you skim more than read (if you're good at that), maybe go on the internet less (not a whole lot, just enough that you can get the books read), if you have a cell phone, turn it off when you're reading (distracting friends >.>), and pull a couple Allnighters.
I will probably fully read out the ones for AP..the ones for my school I will just skim enough so I can answer the like 10 questions on each, like main character, setting, that crap...and some questions like "Why did you read this book?"... I already know the answer to that, its called "Its on the required list you dumb****"

Well, I agree that fully reading the AP ones is a good idea.
So is skimming the school books
I would say to get the AP books done first, and then worry about the books for school ... on the bus the morning before
Lol, I can ask Jess about study tips if you want. She's in the top 10 of her class
Sorry about that...I didnt die..i just went afk and got distracted a bit while tweaking the template for my set... I guess i picked it up again, Im going through right now and making all the cycles I would like to see..its pretty nice so far, im at 139/306 done...but i dont want to say anymore until im at least 250 done with the set...if i ever get that far. I dont want all of you to see a set that will not be finished.
Well now i got a call about 20 minutes ago from a good friend who I havent seen in a bit, and apparently hes at a party across the street and wants me to come. Ill see you all later.
hey i just came back from top4ing at a 1.5 tourney with threshhold
Way to go!
Every sunday afternoon my friend Paul runs a 1.5 nonsanctioned 5-proxy affair in the basement of a seafood restaurant. I'd like to play but here I am at work. Oh well. I even had my Lifeline deck with me. fat chance, eh? I'd love to see that thing go off in someone's face...three kokusho all at once, twice a turn.
edit: Xenosaga sounds pretty deep and metaphysical.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I'm hoping to check back more frequently but life is a zoo. Starting in September, I'll be working 20-30 hrs/wk, coaching bowling with 5-8 year olds, taking 18 credit hours(overloading) in school, as well as a few other volunteer things. But anyway, enough about that. I will check in as often as possible. And as Crimson said, I've never played MTG in my life but he's trying to convince me. I don't even get to game very often, but starting to pick it up a bit.
Now back to making a packing list for camping. *crosses fingers that boss will give her Friday off*
Hey everyone, I'm back... Actually I was back Thursday, but I'm going to explain that. If you remember I said I'd be back on Friday, but the reason I wasn't and wasn't posting is a little weird.
I got to camp just fine and had fun. On Wednesday morning, a few people in one cabin had gotten sick. Probably the flu, the camp staff just quarenteened them in their cabin until they felt better. Then later that day, about 50 more people got sick-including me. The camp had no idea what it was, but it was really bad. I couldn't fall asleep Wednesday night because the flu-like symptoms never stopped. I felt good in the morning though, and walked around the next day.
By afternoon, 200 people had gotten it, and the camp called in a specialist to discover what it was. At about 5:00 pm they called the camp into a big hall and said they found out what it was.
A virus called the Noro virus. Its extremely contagous and spreads through touch. The symtoms last for 12 hours, but you're still highly contagious for 72 hours after that.
So the camp sent us home, and my parents quarenteened (sp?) me in my room until now. I had to riggorously clean everything and take a shower too.
So, thats my story... I'm going to get a custom shirt that says: I survived the (name of camp) '06 plague. Crap, did I really just use that?

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
hey i just came back from top4ing at a 1.5 tourney with threshhold
Congrats on that finish. I usually play D&D Minis on Sundays (I have them for running D&D games, I may as well use them for something else while I'm at it.), but as I had to get up for work at 3:30 am today to set up the ad signing* I felt that going back to sleep was a much higher priority.
*Whenever you get your ad for Target or anywhere else in the Sunday paper, there's always lots of stuff on sale. And inside the store, every single one of those items has to have a 3"x5" sign stating that it's on sale. That gets to be a lot of signs, and they have to go up before the store opens. Luckily we rotate the job so that any one of us only has to do it ervery 4th week. But it still sucks.

Back, everyone! I got back about an hour ago. Man, Long Island traffic is a *****. It took us an hour and a half (I think) to get from the ferry place to the city. Fire Island was great. I got to see my friend, and we both agreed that the reality show that was shot there was complete crap. I got to play with her half-niece (if that's an official term), a smily, pudgy, cute baby named Skyler. I played some volleyball and slept on Saturday, and also played my NES there (hooray, Nintendo World Cup!). Also went to town for lunch and had a panini sandwich. Overall, it was a good day there.
I see all of you Coffeehouse regulars voted for Saph in BotU #7, even though he barely comes here anymore. Hmph. *Sips latte* At least Ryan had the good sense to vote for me. Oh, and Nemcon, I think.
Speaking of Nemcon: why the hell did your school just assign those books now? I had my summer reading list given to me at the beginning of June, during my college open house. I'm nearly done with my last book (Their Eyes Were Watching God), and then it's The Alphabet of Manliness and Conservatives Without Conscience for me! And speaking of college stuff, I need to email the guy who's gonna be my roommate.
Hey guys i'd like to join the coffeehouse. My name is Peter and i'm 15. Just out of curiosity when does school for everyone start. Mine starts in a week what a bummer. Right now im suffering through football 2 a days.
Hooray new members! Welcome, Peter/Turtle. I remember you from that thread you wrote about your overbearing Asian parents! I go to college in less than three weeks (August 25th).
@Nemcon: Ooooo, bad move on your part. Better start cracking.
I was away today at the Charleston Mall on a giant shopping trip. After we get there, my dad tells me and my two brothers that apparently my uncle has given us all a large sum of money, some of which is put away for savings and whatnot... But the point is we get $250 dollars each! Woot! Talk about an unexpected surprise. I got lots of stuff, including about $60 worth of anime and a patch to add to my collection from Hot Topic.
Here's what I got today:
Video Store:
Metropolis
Akira
Armitage III: Dual Matrix (already had Poly-Matrix)
Otaku no Video
Hot Topic:
"Otaku" bumper sticker for my truck
Kuroneko (the cat from Trigun) patch for my DVD holder.
Waldenbooks:
Ordermaster, the latest Recluce book by L.E. Modesitt. It's the sequel to
Wellspring of Chaos.
I was surprised to find that the video store had such a large collection of anime. They even had a section dedicated to Hentai, which I'm sure some of my college buddies would have loved. I'm not really into that sort of thing, though I did take a peek at some titles.
(Anal Sanctuary? LMAO.)
Anyway, I just got done watching the first part of Otaku no Video. It's a mock-umentary about the founding of Gainax. Basically, this guy who used to play tennis and have a "life" joins an anime circle, becomes a full-fledged otaku, and eventually is forced to make a decision when his girlfriend leaves him because of his nerdiness. He vows that since otaku are so discriminated against (you can play tennis and be popular, but you can't watch anime?), he vows to become Otaking, the king of otaku. Thus, Gainax animation studios is born.
What a weekend. I kicked the Praxis' butt Saturday and then spent all day today shopping at the mall. Oh, and I finished the first book of the Coldfire trilogy again today. Time to move on to "When True Night Falls".
Welcome, Peter. I just finished my last school related thing ever, unless I want a masters (which I certainly do, but can't afford right now). Yay!
And Nem, 4 books in 3 weeks? Pshhh. I'll take 4 books in one week, now that's a challenge. I remember back in high school I read three 300 page books (The Elenium by David Eddings) in two days. Granted, I got little sleep and literally read all day from 7:30am to 11:00pm, but still... You should be fine.
@books: Man, I hated having to read books over the summer for school. I usually kept putting it off until a few weeks beforehand. I did that with pretty much every project, too.

MUST HAVE KURONEKO! You can't go wrong with that. Next time I'm at the mall, I might just have to pick up the plush doll.
Join the misadventures of High School students Yomi, Tomo, Sakaki, Kaori, Chiyo, Ayumu (Osaka), and Kagura, and their teachers Yukari and Minamo, in a series that is as unique as it is hilarious. From Chiyo-chan's genious, to Sakaki-san's love of animals, to Osaka's ... Osaka-ness, there are enough laughs here to tickle anyone's funnybone.
What more is there to be said about Azumanga Daioh? It's a comedy. It's insanely funny. It's an instant anime classic. Go see it already.
I especially love the manga. I laughed so hard the first time I read it. I love Osaka to death, but I can't get over how much Sakaki is like me.

So here I am.
I'm leaving for work now, so will see you again later this morning, people. Keep a pot of Decaf on for me. I've had my jolt for the morning, and t's kicking in ... oh about now!
