WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN [NATURAL 20]
One day, at Photon Eater's Glorious Haunted Castle, he and his henchmen friends sat down to a fun-filled game of D&D.
However, that night... Debbie went to check up on Marcie, and found out that tragedy had paid a visit prior to her arrival!!
Let that be a lesson to you. Don't be like Marcie. Join Natural 20... and save a life! Perhaps your own!

1. This should go without saying, but no flaming/trolling, or otherwise being a butthead to members of this clan, or any other (We absolutely will not tolerate badmouthing other clans in Natural 20!)
2. Be open to different gaming ideas. Gamers are notorious for being set in their ways when it comes to how they think a game should run, so please understand that not everyone wants the same thing out of their experience.
3. Just as a general statement, please do not post material from any game system unless you are absolutely sure that information is available through an Open Gaming License.
4. Please keep an active membership. If you become inactive, we cannot assure that your status as an active member will remain untouched.
5. When requesting membership, you may either PM me, or just post a response in the thread proper. It may take me some time to add you, depending on how available I can be. Anyone is welcome to become a member, so long as they have an interest in gaming- be it in tabletop games, console RPGs, or whatever!
6. When requesting friendship, all you need to do is ask. We're open to anyone being a friend, so long as you are willing to talk about gaming and want to contribute to the discussions.
7. Friends who have not posted since the previous thread will be removed. However, you can apply for friendship again, but don't be too surprised if I am hesitant to add you.
8. Do not post links to Dark Dungeon. We've all already seen it, and it's just not that funny anymore, thanks.
And now, to start things off, some sample conversation topics-

3. Tabletop- What are you playing now, and what is your current campaign all about?
4. Post up one of your characters!
5. Voice acting in video games.
6. Share some information from your current campaign
7. Religion in D&D
8. The Paladin Phenomenon- Why do GMs feel the need to punish good players with impossible moral dilemmas?
9. MTG in RPGs.
Hmm as I'm still relatively new to RPGs and gaming in general, my first real console/RPG game was FFIV... still is I'm still playing it... mostly cuz Ryan and I would be together playing it, as that was just one of the things we did/do together.....
And remember, for those of you who are proud of your Natural 20 membership- remember to update your signatures!
My first console RPG was The Magic of Shaharazad, for the NES. I put it in and didn't really know what to expect, and I was both fascinated and perplexed- the enemies didn't move when you fought them all of the time- sometimes they just sat there! And you didn't move either! You just entered commands into a menu? And you had all those people following you around, but you couldn't see them.
I was only like, 7 at the time, and the concept of an RPG was entirely new to me. I really got into it, though.
P.S. Ditched the pink font. Sure enough, I got bored of it.
Edit:
I'm still playing it... mostly cuz Ryan and I would be together playing it, as that was just one of the things we did/do together.....
That reminds me of one of my sappier memories. The first night I ever slept with Josh (by slept with, I mean, slept with him in bed, not had sex), we had been up late playing Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, and he was still playing it when I fell asleep on his lap. At that point, the status of our relationship was still uncertain, so he was so afraid to fall asleep because he was afraid that it might be the only time he and I would ever be like that together, so he stayed up all night holding me and watching me sleep- but to keep himself awake, he kept playing the game... with one hand, no less, as the other was on me, and he didn't want to wake me. It's both incredibly geeky and incredibly sweet to me, and it's one of my happiest memories, both of him, of gaming, and in general.
Oooh, Paper Mario. I LOVES me some Paper Mario. Your first was the N64 one, right KK? I adored that game. Paper Mario is an RPG series; just one with really small numbers and some platformer elements. Still, they're great games. If you haven't picked up the Gamecube sequel yet, I highly recommend it =)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww..... Yeah, Ryan and I did that (game right before bed) a few times earlier this summer, when we were both staying at his house, because I was sleeping in the game room, and so we'd be sleeping in there, talking, and we played FFIV a few times... Its one of the things I, looking back, do wish we could have done more often, and thus hopefully may be able to do more later on this year, as i now have my own PS2...
Wow, my first rpg? It probably have to be either Chrono Trigger or Super Mario Rpg. Or maybe even Earthbound. Before then, I mainly played Mario Bros., Zelda, and a little Sonic for the short time I had a Genesis.
As for Paper Mario, they were pretty good games. I enjoyed the little companions you get and all the little extra things to find. In Thousand-year door, it took me practically forever to find the last star piece. I never did find the last one in PM, so I never got that last badge. I think I'll bite on ether's topic. I remember watching my friend play Final Fantasy III (or VI, depending on your point of view) when I was younger, and I realized that the genre didn't really appeal to me. But the first RPG I played was EarthBound. It is still my favorite game of all time.

But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
Hehe, I'd like to say the thread title is as Shaharazad says, but the actual reference is to the original Dragon Quest for NES. You only fought one monster at a time in that game, and when combat began the text box would say, for example: "Slime appears! Command?"
However, I was reminded of the old text-based RPGs too! I always wanted to get into MUDDs and MUCKs when I was younger, but sadly I could never find any I liked and the ones I could find were too confusing in terms of joining/playing ~_~;;
@KK: Man, I hate it when consoles break! I was so sad when my first Playstation broke; I'd just gotten the first Wild ARMs and was so jazzed to play it, and it would always freeze on Mt. Zenom. I had to play through most of the game with my PsX upside-down or on its side.
The oldest RPG I've played is Crystalis for the NES. It was so awesome.
I've played through some LOTR games, Tales of Symphonia, FFIV, and a couple others that escape me. I know there are some major ones I'm forgetting though. My brain's not working well ATM.
And what happened to my banner? If it's not too much trouble, could we just have something like:
Dragon Quest VIII is a beautiful game. Normally I am just fine with a game that doesn't have top-of-the-line visual effects, especially since much of the time that allows the designers to add in manga or painting style artwork (think the SaGa games). But I am really impressed with DQ8. There is something amazing about flying into a blue-wreathed sun hanging high in the sky on the wings of a golden bird. The combination of music, lighting, color, character design, and environmental detail makes for a breathtaking gamimg experience. I highly recommend it.
Just had to plug that.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
Hehe, Dragon Quest VIII is indeed a remarkable game in numerous categories. Thing is, the graphics ARE top of the line. DQ8 and Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne are both good examples of how amazing cel-shading can look. I would actually give DQ8 the award for "best-looking console game" if I had control over things like that ^__^;;

It usually would ammount to:
You are in a cave, to your right is a rope. In front of you is a dark cavern. To your left is a cluster of glowing mushrooms.
Command?
And then you would type in your command. The interface would be based off of keywords and such. For the above example, you could type:
Get (the) Rope
Look (at) Mushooms
Go (through) Dark Cavern
Etc.
Love the thread title. I really want to be a member, but R&D needs me..
