But it doesn't really burn up the metagame... does it? Im thinking on the flavor text though...
how's this: This maddening enchantment was created long ago by a group of rogue mages in a far away plane. Since then, the plane has deteriorated as all the land burned away.
I like the name Rogue's Torch and the Flavor text of Hope Witherer.
Also, when are we starting the tourney?
one more thing, BweeBwee, I need help in the Clan Killing Arena. There are too many people...
My, I need to suf a bit more this website.... whats the Clan Killing Arena???
It's in The Colosseum. Like a mini-RPG you go around "slaying" members of other clans to prove your clan supreme I think. Never got into text RPG's much tho...
As for what to name it: I really really like the name Hope Witherer but it sound's more creature-ish than enchantment so Rogue's Flame gets a go from me. Also I like Rogue's Flame's flavor text as well...
well.... it wouldn't really fit in anything other than a mono red deck. there aren't many decks that can do 3 damage without the help of red in the first place. If you're worried then maybe an alternate casting cost is in order. I really like the card. Too bad we can't use Threshhold or something to punch it up. But the more I look at it I actually like how simple it is. I don't like that it's so similar to that rakdos card "whenever a player is dealt 3 damage or more that player discards a card.* Granted it wrecks control if you can get it out. Every Lava Spike, Volcanic Hammer, Flames, and Char not only takes them down another peg but it reduces their resources. Good against control because Each spell costs 3 or less and only one red mana investment.
4 Rogue's Flame (I think the name can be punched up)
4 Lava Spike
4 Flames of the Blood Hand
4 Volcanic Hammer
4 Glacial Ray
4 Stone Rain
keep em low on land when they get land burn em. In extended we have Pulse of the Forge to go along with char and flames. If you splash white you get lightning helix.
Then again you could play GRB and fill the deck with creatures that have a 3 or more power (Burning Tree Shaman, Rumbling Slum, Things Moldervine Cloak is attached to) heh. Turn one Stomping Grounds Birds. Turn two Karplusan Forest/Mountain/Tendo Ice Bridge/Stomping Grounds and Moldervine Cloak your bird. Turn three this arson card swing for 3. If you can set that up then you can lock them pretty quickly at 2 lands.
OH yeah that reminds me have you guys done any rounds of the block party tournament yet? I will be in the stands cheering on people. For school thank goodness only 2 more weeks left of this semester for school yay.
Considering the idea of the deck is to pound out 3 damage I think Captive Flame is a gimmie in that shadow deck.
Also, I was tryin to figure out other builds for it - but there really isn't much aside from burnination and evasive creature route. I wish I thought of this earlier but there is technically a way around this that I thought I'd throw out (but I DO like the original better so I'm not suggesting we change it... however I don't think we should be breaking it either yet. ):
Rogue's Flame :1mana::symrw::symrw::symrw:
Enchantment - Aura
Enchant creature or player
When three or more damage is dealt to enchanted creature or player, enchanted creature's controller or enchanted player sacrifices a land then moves Rogue's Flame to a creature an opponent of his or her choice controls or an opponent of his or her choice.
When Rogue's Flame is put into a graveyard from play, return it to your hand instead.
See what I did there? It kinda throws a curve out there I think compared to the old version (tho like I said before the old one is just fine).
I like yours too, but I've never seen an "Enchant Player" card, so I doubt thety's admit it into the contest
Anyhow, I agree on the fact that it goes BETTER with a purely BURNdeck, but we do have to present several ways of using the card, so I'm kinda suggesting exactly that...that is why I suggested a Shadow deck...
I think its interesting and pretty cool that there is enchant player cards just makes magic more interesting.:p Now i will present to you guys my BW angel stomp deck and this deck is a pretty good imo against the field of legacy. I have won against gro and goblins majority of the time which are two really popular decks in legacy. This angel stomp deck also has a pretty good match against control such as landstill and also combo decks such as solidarity with all of the discard spells in this deck. I have no doubt that this deck also has decent matchups against the rest of the field of legacy as well in my opinion.
the Old one is fine. Crimson's one is too complex... Simplicity is good.
@kevin: how is the mana base? there are cards wit two BB and two WW... plus your 6 lands that only add colorless...
One more thing, I probably won't be around during the weekend, so either someone else has to post the entry or we post it in now. I think we should post it in now because there is not much to change.
