Looks pretty good, but Sky Hussar is weak (outside the Kiki-Jiki combo), and Meloku doesn't fit into an aggro deck like this one. I'd add some more Remands/Spell Snares, and maybe some Mistral Chargers.
Back from not spending any time on the computer since like friday... Went to the prerelease both days.
Saturday I played in Team Sealed and got a U/W deck with a lot of 2 drops and sunscour. Lost round 2 to mana screw but my team won all three rounds for 12 packs each.
Sunday I played in the Two-Headed Giant. I was playing G/W alongside a 3-color monster, but our rares weren't bomby enough. Round 1 my buddy got manascrewed and we were beaten by the lack of the fatties he had to discard. Round 2 we simply overpowered our opponents, and round 3 garza's assasin kept good creatures off of our boards while the recover LD spell kept me off white mana.
I then did a 6 person team draft, getting a pretty ridiculous U/B deck with Void Maw and Herald of Leshrac. I lost the first round to mana screw but won the next two with my bigger creatures. Odd for a U/B deck.
I did get an Ohran Viper, a Sunscour, and the Fire Braid Thing. I still have four packs left.

Man, that sounds fun. I've been wanting to go to a prerelease ever since Guildpact, but the fates always conspired against me.
...
Which means that I'm going to go to the Time Spiral prerelease by ANY MEANS NECESSARY! MWAHAHA! NOTHING WILL STOP ME THIS TIME!!
*ahem*
Anyway, how much did each of the sealed and draft events cost? I've always wondered how much money I should bring to one of these events.
Man, apparently too much partying is a bad thing. Oh well, I had fun finding that out:cool:. @Jazzy Jay, you can add me on MTGO (same username as on here) and I can help you, give you a few pointes. Is anyone else in this clan on MTGO?

I am also on MTGO (as said before, I am slowly shifting my Magic budget over there). Atrius2006 is the name, and I am in Clan zZxXxMoRpHuSzZzMaYhEmxXxZz - long name I know, but it's never bothered me.
I run on Aust Central Time (NO DST here), so it's 4:31pm on Monday July 10 as I post this.
Edit: I am also considering leaving [Izzet] and joining [R&D]. It has been fun here, but I have more fun creating cards. In case I get accepted, I leave you with this card from my set Thought Snatch.
Erratic Bubble UURR
Creature - Ooze (U)
Whenever a player pitches a card, put a +1/+1 counter on CARDNAME. UR, remove a +1/+1 counter from CARDNAME: CARDNAME deals 1 damage to target creature or player.
"Pitch" is the new shorthand term in the set, meaning to remove a card in a hand from the game by any method (FoW, Castigate and the Shoals are all methods of someone pitching a card.
If I am accepted into [R&D], I will resign my role as High Mage of Experimental Explosives. Otherwise, I wish to retain my position here in [Izzet].
i wish i couldve gone to the prerelease, but the 16 hour car ride home wasnt fun and left me fatigued like no other. Also, lack of $$ played into account:(
@ Atrius - Sorry to hear that, dude. You never were that much of a frequent poster here, but when you did, you made some pretty good comments and stuff.
@ prerelease discussion - I didn't go to prerelease, but yesterday i drafted CSCSCS. I got adarkar valkyrie in the first pack, sunscour in the second and ohran viper in the third. Wow, the three best CS cards, all mine. I also drafted 5 of the whote ripple guys, 4 of the green ripple enchantments, 2 4/4 auroch herds, and one bull aurochs. Aurochs like having +2+2.
I didn't get any of the 5/6 pro snow guys though
But yeah, I didn't lose a single game. And after, I beat my L2 judges type 2 deck. It owned.
Well, so far they have rejected two seperate batches of cards need to qualify for membership. I will give it once last try before giving up on them. You stay may have me yet.
I feel so uncreative thanks to [R&D], I will stick to my 3 tries then quit policy and change the concept of "Experimental Explosives" to card creation within [The Izzet].

You win target thread. If you aren't Atrius, Atrius wins that thread instead. "Wait, can you actually win a thread?" - Atrius.
It seems that more often, promotions are due to random happenings, like people leaving the clan or falling into the erratic portal. No offense intended to those recently promoted, but it is really strange to see newcomers in high mage positions while people who have been around from nearly the beginning don't have the honor of that title.
Also, if we stick strictly to the rules of one acolyte/one apprentice per high mage, eventually the number of high mages will make it exponentially more unlikely that anyone will be promoted. Am I wrong in thinking that the clan ranks should reflect something more reliable such as participation or order of joining?
Quote from The Izzet Bylaws »
High Mage/Acolyte/Apprentice Rules Each new member that joins must choose a High Mage to apprentice under that has no Apprentice. In the event that every High Mage has an Acolyte and an Apprentice, and a new member wishes to join, they may pick any High Mage to Apprentice under, and the first Acolyte of that High Mage becomes a High Mage with their own area of expertise. They will also be offered a place in The Council, (The Izzet elite) according to their seniority in the clan.
Also, doesn't this create a distinction between the the position of high mage and the admission into being one of the Magi of the Council? So, If a new member joins today, becomes an acolyte under a high mage with no acolyte, and then that high mage decides to move to greener pastures tomorrow, why should that member become a high mage, let alone a member of the Magi council?
I mean, I know that these titles don't really affect anythign substantial, but C_M pointed out a while ago to someone wondering about the Izzet rankings that even though we are all alike in dignity, we enjoy the ranks because they mean something about our commitment to the Izzet in time and effort. We can enjoy the titles as earned, but only if they remain meaningfully.
In other news,
Coldsnap looks like a kind of fun failure. I don't see any obvious constructed bombs... OK, I guess that right now there are a few potential candidates. But no obvious winners. And Wizards seems to have designed coldsnap to be the limited set, but in drafting/sealed deck, R/G makes itself without any effort, allied color decks are more than a simple majority, and any deck with blue sucks. Black is a little weak, and the removal is a bit skimpy.
I love how they played with the numbers of the rarities, and I love the mechanics, but from my experience judging the coldsnap prerelease, the deck variety isn't there. Can this set really be a good set to draft? Well, it might be a good place to get really detailed about the limited metagame due to the predicatable cardpool, but it might also be the place where whoever opens the red slug wins the game.
Also, I must play with snow-covered lands. I love them irrationally.
To be honest, Atrius, I don't feel very good about allowing you to remain a High mage here after attempting to leave for what you think is a "better" clan - it shows that you don't have any real commitment to the Izzet at all.
Do you think that we will just welcome you back with open arms, after you attempted to leave the Izzet but were rejected by your clan of choice?
ANYWAYS.
@Wamyc:
I think that, while the option for ascension to high magi through default of the current High mage should remain, that from now on, when someone defaults their high mage position, the person that the current high magi feel is most suitable hould be elected.
I have been accepted into [R&D]. I officialy resign from this clan and obviously as High Mage of Experimental Explosives. Good luck to you guys in the future, though.

The red deck I've posted is doing quite well. It beat Sea Stompy 2-0, URgTron 2-0, and a weird BRG deck 2-1. Will have to test against more tier one decks. Hopefully I can rogue out to a win for Nats entry.

I don't know why, but this thread title has to be one of my favorites in a long while.
Coldsnap seems to have breathed new life into my interests in deckmaking for standard. Such a small set brings a surprisingly large amount of interesting tweaks. Also,
I've been thinking about this for quite a while now, and it's been a hard decision. I'm gonna be leaving this clan, and heading off to [499]. I've spent some good times here, and I've grown here from the noobish start we all have when we start at Sally. However, things haven't been as interesting recently, as there has been the exodus leaving here due to inactivity, and there also has been the lack of interesting topics sprung up like the old days. I'm still gonna be a friend (if ok), and I will still post here a lot, but probably not with the same fanatical zeal I had when I started posting. I think that my energetic Acolyte Stlts will make a great High Mage, and I hope the clan still stays together.
Digressing from that note, I saw this vote at Wizards. CvsC: Kird Ape vs Mogg Fanatic. * Shino Tenshi creams himself at the thought of Burn being a great archetype. Tenth is gonna be awesome. I'm definitely buying some packs.

Aaaah! Not Shino, too! Man, it feels like I just start getting to know the people here and they all get up and leave.
If it must be so, however, I will do my best to make interesting posts and come up with the occasional deck that no one will ever play in a tournament but would really like to play in casual because it's so incredibly ridiculous.
...I think I just made a run-on sentence.
Anyway, I agree that wamyc should be promoted. He certainly deserves it. I will refrain from saying anything about Shino's suggestion, because that would feel like cheating.
Now, to get to work on that Braid of Fire deck! Mwahaha!
