@Crimson: Well, from what I know of Magna Carta, the Ps2 installment isn't much different. The only complaint I've seen a lot of is that it's too short. Although people said Mother 3 was going to be a short game and it totally wasn't, so hey *shrug*
As far as Radiata Stories goes, you've seen people in here and the 'house singing its praises. It's an awesome game, but chock full'o humour, so only pick it up if you like that sort of thing. If you've ever played a Lunar game you'll more than appreciate Radiata Stories. Ditto if you've ever played through a Star Ocean.
Plus, Lenneth is awesome. Nibelung Valesti is so much cooler as a Volty Blast than a Purify Weird Soul =P
While we're on the subject, I finally finished Legend of Dragoon this morning. I have to say, I must've been sour towards it when I was younger (which was, not surprisingly, when I sucked at it), because I enjoyed the game a lot this time through. I do have to say, though...game companies NEED to hire professional voice actors for their games! GUH!
Bad translations both irritate and amuse me. There is nothing quite as funny as the voice samples in SO2 ("I will turn you into a beehive!"), but at the same time, it makes it harder to take the game seriously. There is also the issue of information being misconstrued (like the infamous desert in Breath of Fire III). All in all, localization efforts are getting better, for which I am very pleased. I'm glad companies have moved passed pulling random people out of cubicles to supply voices, and started using real voice actors.

Oy, most of the time using random employees or friends of employees doesn't work out well enough. Sometimes, though, you find a real diamond in the rough. Good examples of non-professional voice actors who ended up being awesome are Chad Letts (Hiro in Lunar 2: Eternal Blue complete) and the entire cast of Koudelka. I swear, if I ever get into game design I'm going to hunt those people down and they're doing voices for me ^__^;;
A bad translation can kill the mood of a game. Legend of Dragoon has a very dire storyline with a lot of death and doom, but some of the mistranslated lines just knock that seriousness right out. For example, "Master, I am happy to take your fist."
Uhm...yeah. It's better if some of you don't know how I took that when I first saw it.
I think I want to do something in the near future where I post a famous line from a console RPG and you guys get to guess what game it's from. And no, the first line won't be "you spoony bard!"
Edit: LOL Omna, go ahead and get moving to wherever it is you're going! I'm sssuming the Dwarven city? If you're at least on level 4 you should be just fine, no worries =)
