Academy Prerelease Promos After unveiling the previous promo, I'd decided to go a step further--with 2 more promos, as well as an explanation behind it all.
Why 3 Promos?
Well, Arguas and Omna are the center of the block's plot. No sense not having them all foiled out. Alacar.. well, he's me! Just think about it this way.. All entrants get an Alacar Leoricar (only one, regardless of the number of flights) All who made the top 8 (or 4, based on the size of the flight) get an Arguas Kinneley. All who win a tournament flight get an Omna. Super special Promos! Why not Jukar? Will you do any more? Chances are slim. I might do Jukar and the other ladies, but I'm not the one doing it. I'm getting help from a friend (his username is Pendrell). So, yeah.. if I learn how to do it myself, I would, but it's difficult. What's with the date? June 6, 2006 is the date the website for Academy went up online. I know that's technically the release date, and not the prerelease date, but how the heck can I have a prerelease with an online set? Where's my alternate artwork? Do you seriously know how difficult it was to find the original artwork, AND alternate artwork for the Vanguard cards? RIDICULOUSLY HARD. Why not use the Vanguard art on these? Well, I'd thought of that, but in all honesty, the original art captures the cards best. The others are a more broad, stylish depiction. What about Gauntlet and Discord? Those 2 sets will also get 1 (or more) prerelease card, but probably in conjunction or before their release online. Hey! I see a typo in Omna's text, and Arguas' artist is Unknown, right? I know, I know. But it's late and I don't wanna bother reuploading right now. I'll let Pendrell know
good morning, today i will try to post alot today becuase tomorow i am going to six flags great adventure so i will be out the whole day.
edit:yea 2000th post
@ Alcar your promos are so sweeeeeeeet.
Alacar: You're supposed to have alternate art for the prerelease card.
And there's no date on release cards. Come on .
I'm not sure which one you were doing.
You don't need alternate art for PR cards. Look at Avatar of Hope. Her Pre-release image is the same as the image in Prophecy.
As for dates, there are now. Avatar of Discords Pre-release image has a date on the bottom right corner of her image. I would know because I just received one in the mail yesterday.
Tneill: 1) True but as I already said, I was just kidding. I know it be extremely hard to find more working art for legends. (probably why wizards never has them as pre/release cards.
2) I said release, not prerelease, there's a difference ;).

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
To be honest, the first good non-legend card that comes to mind for Champions of Kamigawa is Cranial Extraction. That would have made a pretty cool (Pre)Release card
Ha, I just realized your name means 'Angel of Death'. You win points for that from me.
@ Janus' pictures: Cool.
@ Alacar: There are actually two typos on Omna: One is the missing line 'choose a color' or 'color of your choice', and the other is the 'a ocean' in her flavortext.
@Alacar: I like your promos. They're very interesting. But some typos are there.
*Points to what Mr.Stuff said*
@KK: I have to agree, that Cranial is a good non-legendary card. It would've kicked butt as a pre-release or promo!!
Kamigawa had tons of legends!! Then again, the set was called Champions of Kamigawa for a reason. Some cards didn't deserve to be legendary though. That's my oppinion on that.
@Psionicblast: Congrats on 2000th post!!! You've already received a cookie so I'm not giving you one.
@Eledin: Thanks for sending the card in. I'll let you know when I receive.
@Janus: Those are pretty pictures!!
@Mamelon: I wish you the best of luck on your job hunt.
Eledin: I have already noticed Arguas' power is incorrect--he's a 1/3, not a 3/3. Omna's typo has also already been noticed, as has minor errors on their flavor texts. I've PMed Pendrell and I'll get edits done ASAP.
And even though Arguas is a 1/3 doublestriker for 2 mana, I still have yet to see him be bah-roken. The only time we came close to that was when I faced an Omna/Arguas deck by Shinobi.
Hi guys! *Sips latte* How was everything since I've been gone? (Don't tell me everything that's happened in the past two days. I can find that out myself.)
My summer house was good this weekend. I slept for most of Saturday (good thing too, since it was raining), but on Sunday I went to town (or what passes for town on the island, anyway) for breakfast and played some volleyball in the afternoon. We had hamburgers for dinner on Sunday, and I just got back today.
I might as well tell a little bit about the place where my summer home is. Have you seen commercials on ABC for the reality show "One Ocean View?" That takes place on Fire Island, where my summer house is. Needless to say, I'm rather annoyed that such an asstastic form of TV has to rear its ugly head there, and I'm not the only one (my friend, among other people, is really opposed to such a thing happening there). You might get the impression, should you watch that show, that this is a place where 20-something single New Yorkers come to mingle (those are the people highlighted on the show). Don't buy it. There are other people that go there: families, people that live there year round, and, probably most famously, gays. It's a helluva place: there are no paved roads and barely any cars, and the beaches aren't crowded. But don't go flocking there by the hundreds: we'd like it to remain a quiet little place.
Tonight I'm going with my sister and her friend to the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre to see a comedy show. Then tomorrow I'm doing volunteer work. It'll be a busy week for me.

All I know of Fire Island is it's notoriety for being a vacation pick-up haven for gay guys.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
Haven't been on in a while, so I decided to stop by and say hello before I do some writing for Alicia. She's gonna get into a boss fight; I can't wait ^____^;;
I've been replaying Dragon Quest 8 recently. Random question for those of you who play console RPGs as often and/or fanatically as I do (which is highly unlikely): What would you say are your top five Ps2 RPGs? For me it goes like this:
All I know of Fire Island is it's notoriety for being a vacation pick-up haven for gay guys.
Yeah, its main reputation is for being a haven for gays. But in all honesty that's just one community on the island. We're not all gay. But that reputation might change once this reality show hits the air.
Seeing as how I don't have a PS2 I can't do ethersphere's list, so I'll make a list of the top 5 rpg games I've ever played.
1. Kotor II
2. Guantlet (not much of an rpg, but its a good game.)
3. Phantasy Star Online 2
4. Kotor I (I really don't like this one as much as the others...)
5. Halo 2 (What?)
Truth is, I haven't played very many good rpg's as I'm sure you can see.
Anyways, the Star Wars book I was reading, Cloak of Deception, is EASILY the best SW I've ever read.
I recommend it for any of you who remotely understand the Star Wars universe. Its got great political plot and is also a great adventure. Its very well written with everything described so well you'd know what he's talking about without seeing any of the movies.

I'll bet you wish you had a non-unglued/unhinged card that shared your first name.
Well, I should've said "for Ps2 or the console of your choice," but I'm too lazy to edit =P
I love the Phantasy Star series, but I've never had the chance to play PSO 1 or 2. I want them for Gamecube, but no such luck these days.
I think I've played one of the Phantasy Star games a long time ago. I believe it was 4. Not bad, but I didn't really play it for long. I'd probably give it another shot on an emulator or something.
Speaking of Radiata Stories, how good is it? I heard good things about it on the net and from a friend. I think the next time I save up some money, I'll see if I can pick it up along with a Star Ocean game (and of course DQ8 :D). I've heard that's a good series and I've always wanted to try it out.
Oh man, I love Phantasy Star 4. It's by and large the best one in the series. Sega had a good thing going with that series and I curse them for not taking it further.
As for Radiata Stories, I found it to be really addictive and very well put together. I enjoyed it a LOT; it's one of those games you can play twice in a row without getting sick of it. Great characterization (even with 176 characters), good soundtrack, and a lot of playtime to clock up.
We all know how I feel about Dragon Quest 8, so I'll save everyone the sermon =) As for Star Ocean, likely the only one you'll find by now is SO3, but it's my favorite in the series and a really great game. You can probably pick up any of those games used for about twenty or twenty-five bucks, which is honestly a steal considering how much they have to offer.
I need to give honorable mention to Breath of Fire V, by the way. I hated it for a while after I first picked it up, but it grew to be one of my absolute most favorite games of all time. I highly recommend it to everyone. In fact...maybe the next Mp3s I post will be from that =)

Wizards was obviously forced into an uncomfortable situation by their design team. The fiends did it on PURPOSE!
To be honest, the first good non-legend card that comes to mind for Champions of Kamigawa is Cranial Extraction. That would have made a pretty cool (Pre)Release card

And Arguas is completely broken in half.
The gimmick in Kamigawa was that every rare creature was a legend. Even if it didn't desrve it. And many didn't, but it was cool.
Stop telling Alacar his cards are broken, he knows it and likes it that way.
to quote myself = Alacar's not stupid.
Also, because it's just too damned hot for an hour's bike ride through the hot filthy city.
And even though Arguas is a 1/3 doublestriker for 2 mana, I still have yet to see him be bah-roken. The only time we came close to that was when I faced an Omna/Arguas deck by Shinobi.

2. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
3. Shadow Hearts; Covenant
4. Star Ocean 3
5. Radiata Stories
Nice to see more than one showing by Tri-Ace there. Also nice to see not one instance of the words "Final Fantasy." Anyway, talk amongst yourselves.
