Our coffeehouse is an Overclan that acknowledges that we are all are social creatures, and actually like to talk about various things with other people. Here, you can come in, get yourself some coffee, a cookie, or some cake, and just chat a bit with the people around us. And, unlike one of those coffeehouses down the street, this one doesn’t cost you anything! We promote a friendly atmosphere, and never turn down civil customers!
To join up with our coffeehouse, merely post something about yourself that you’d like everyone to share, and perhaps talk about. (IMPORTANT NOTE: IF YOU WISH TO BE A REGULAR OR CASUAL CUSTOMER, ASK US AND WE SHALL ADD YOU, BUT IF YOU DON'T COME IN OFTEN ENOUGH YOU WILL BE MOVED TO THE CASUAL CUSTOMER LIST) We here don’t like to make anyone feel isolated, as we are just looking for good friends tied together by the common thread of Magic. You can also post requests for drafts forming or start various other groupings of your choosing. (The owner highly suggests the possibility of book clubs!) Anyone can ask to be a casual customer, but to get to be a Regular, you must come in fairly often and say the things specified above.

From ethersphere: Today's Mp3s are from a popular little game you may have heard of called Silent Hill 3. I chose this Silent Hill game because it's my favorite one and it has the strongest and most ecclectic soundtrack of the four in the series so far.
I have four tracks for you today, two instrumental and two vocal. The instrumentals, "Breeze - In Monochrome Night" and "Sickness Unto Foolish Death" demonstrate composer and series producer Akira Yamaoka's incredible talent with trip-hop synth and composition in general. Can you tell me after listening to these tracks that you'd believe Yamaoka never had formal musical training? I think not =)
The vocals are two of my favorites in the series, "You're Not Here" and "Letter - From the Lost Days." The vocalist is none other than Melissa Williamson, known by most people as Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, the english voice of the Major in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. I was very surprised to find that she has such a beautiful and powerful voice.
Well, I hope you enjoy these songs. I know I do on a daily basis. Let me know what you think!
from Alacar: Hey people. Haven't been able to post MP3s much, but it's high time I posted this one. It's called Everybody's Free (to Wear Sunscreen) or The Sunscreen Song. It's a wonderful spoken lyrical tune that provides wonderful, deep advice about life. Practical and enjoyable. I live by these words.
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long-term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience. I will dispense this advice now. Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Oh, never mind. You will not understand the power and beauty of your youth until they've faded. But trust me, in 20 years, you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. You are not as fat as you imagine. Don't worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4 p.m. on some idle Tuesday. Do one thing every day that scares you. Sing. Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours. Floss. Don't waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and, in the end, it's only with yourself. Remember compliments you receive. Forget the insults. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how. Keep your old love letters. Throw away your old bank statements. Stretch. Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't. Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees. You'll miss them when they're gone. Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll have children, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll divorce at 40, maybe you'll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either. Your choices are half chance. So are everybody else's. Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or of what other people think of it. It's the greatest instrument you'll ever own. Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. Read the directions, even if you don't follow them. Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly. Get to know your parents. You never know when they'll be gone for good. Be nice to your siblings. They're your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future. Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, because the older you get, the more you need the people who knew you when you were young. Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft. Travel. Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old. And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders. Respect your elders. Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund. Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse. But you never know when either one might run out. Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you're 40 it will look 85. Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth. But trust me on the sunscreen.

Anyway... that spoiler for Coldsnap is filling up quite nicely now. I hope people that are going to the prerelease are glancing at it. Being shocked at the power of the noncreatures in this (let alone getting used to the old weird abilities) is gonna take some getting used to me thinks.
English Major nitpick: Photon's title should say "who" instead of "whom". Whom only functions as an indirect object.

You get to go to Harvard (edit: upon closer reading, maybe not)? I'm jealous. If my family had more money I'd have gone out of state, since I had the test scores for it, but we just ended up picking the best scholarship offered in-state. I also chose my school because it had a good computer science program. Alas, we know now how THAT turned out.

Not quite.. I don't GO to Harvard.. I WORK there this summer.. I'm a student at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) in Rochester New York... which is where Arguas and I met. he has four years left, and i have one. Which means, after I graduate , i'll either be searching for another job or going to school again. not sure which right now....

Computer Science is a difficult major at times... I would know But I think it's really rewarding, and I know that my major really kind of completes me... I have fun with my work

My aunt was a librarian. She always gave me books for Hanukkah. As for the "Who's Going to What Prerelease?" thread, it's in the General Magic forum, stickied.
My early choice for major in college is communications. I'd like to be a journalist, and the courses that they teach at my college are good for preparation. Of course, I'm privvy to changing my major, since there's so much good stuff there.
Computer science is tough stuff. I was able to choose either Computer Science I or Calculus II for my math subject in college, but I decided not to take one in my freshman year, since I'd like to stay happy during that time.

Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.
Floss.
Don't waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and, in the end, it's only with yourself.

Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-olds I know still don't.
Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees. You'll miss them when they're gone.
Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll have children, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll divorce at 40, maybe you'll dance the funky chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary. Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much, or berate yourself either. Your choices are half chance. So are everybody else's.
Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or of what other people think of it. It's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.
Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.
Read the directions, even if you don't follow them.
Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly.
Get to know your parents. You never know when they'll be gone for good. Be nice to your siblings. They're your best link to your past and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.
Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, because the older you get, the more you need the people who knew you when you were young.
Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard. Live in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft.
Travel.
Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise. Politicians will philander. You, too, will get old. And when you do, you'll fantasize that when you were young, prices were reasonable, politicians were noble and children respected their elders.
Respect your elders.
Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund. Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse. But you never know when either one might run out.
Don't mess too much with your hair or by the time you're 40 it will look 85.
Be careful whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
But trust me on the sunscreen.

EDIT: Hellbent4Hollywood... But yea, I'm gonna be a librarian after i finish school.... I've got one more year left.. this summer I'm actually working for Harvard University's rare book library cataloguing all of of Emily Dickinson and her family's personal library. Its awesome!

whoops. my typing powers are rusty. that was meant to say "final". as for cataloguing at Harvard, that sounds SO cool. i honestly was bored as a librarian, but it was at a local city libary, not somewhere with such an interesting and important collection. and kudos for going to harvard!

Not quite.. I don't GO to Harvard.. I WORK there this summer.. I'm a student at RIT (Rochester Institute of Technology) in Rochester New York... which is where Arguas and I met. he has four years left, and i have one. Which means, after I graduate , i'll either be searching for another job or going to school again. not sure which right now....
Say.. Crimson, where did you say you lived??? I know NY but...? Near Rochester?

Well dagGUM. GET TO MAKING ONE, THEN!! I'm sure you could load it up with a bunch of coffee house stuff.
And if anyone is looking to raise their post count easily, I suggest going to the colosseum, and registering a character for the CTP, which everyone is doing now, including me. Make characters for the town Syrinii, which is hosted by yours truly!!

My early choice for major in college is communications. I'd like to be a journalist, and the courses that they teach at my college are good for preparation. Of course, I'm privvy to changing my major, since there's so much good stuff there.
Computer science is tough stuff. I was able to choose either Computer Science I or Calculus II for my math subject in college, but I decided not to take one in my freshman year, since I'd like to stay happy during that time.
