I think that's the appeal both Heath and Jake had in BBM: they are both attractive but also believable as cowboys. They were gritty and tough looking, especially Heath. No pretty boys herding sheep in the mountains.

I didn't find either of them to be that attractive in BBM, but I was glad to see them looking like they did. It made the tale more genuine. Plus, I just don't like pretty boys, really, so that's always a plus.

.. To each his own, I suppose. Real people are easier to deal with, in general, at least. Oh, and there are like, 5 billion of them. So it's a buyer's market, really.
.... someone needs to get his irony & sarcasm meters checked.
Actually Mikey, I think I agree with your sarcastic point to a degree. When we look to celebrities (or the entertainment industry in general), we're not looking for reality. We want to see beautiful people because they're enjoyable to look at. We don't want to look at ugly people. We don't want shows that depict real life, we live in real life.
Etc., etc.

To a degree, that is correct, however, there are ways to effectively escape reality that don't rely on appearance. Outlandish characters, fantastic settings, exciting situations and tumultous and dramatic romances are all very unrealistic, but in order to be engrossing, need realistic characters- and part of being a realistic character can sometimes mean looking the part.

I agree with you for the most part. I do think, though, that we do tend to want realistic shows and such, just a heightened form of realistic (I call it "realistic+"). We want the best of both worlds. We want to identify with characters and situations, but we also want things to be more dramatic, more funny, more sad, more sexy (etc) than real life. It's the same with celebrities. We want them larger than life and impossibly perfect, but also revel in how real and flawed they can be.
"Never Been Kissed" is on the TV at the moment. Never saw it, never really cared to. It's on in the background. Anyway, a really, really cute guy shows up on the screen. He's got a beautiful face, but his hair, clothes and poise communicate a sense of "I don't even care that I'm hot". He has an aloof quality. Just damn sexy.
So I looked him up Searched the net for pics of him and found plenty. In all of them, he's got bleach-blond surfer-type hair, a big smile, and is almost always shirtless, showing is perfect body. And I was like, "Meh. He's hot, but so very boring". Jeremy Jordan is the boy, if you care to look him up. (Warning: He either is now doing porn or shares a name with a porn actor).

Hey. We need to play more pictionary Greg. MORE!
Speaking of Jeremy. I hope Jeremy Jarvis is still doing art for Magic cards. I met him in Ohio a couple years ago with my friend Tiffany. He had a black eye because some guy punched him in the parking lot of a movie theater for no reason. At that point he had only done a few cards for Mirrodin but I thought he was really a cool guy. Now he's like some art director or something with Wizards? I hope that doesn't affect his appearance at GP and his volume of art.
I am on holiday right now in Scotland. I am going to be visiting my relatives for another few days, (until the 25th or 26th, depending on airlines being... punctual.) Anyway, it's terrific. Part of why this is is that it rains.
In any case, I really wish I could contribute something other than by talking about myself, but I am not well-versed on celebrities, nor have I seen "Never Been Kissed."
Nevertheless, I missed the gay pride parade in my area on account of the holiday, however, I intend to get my friends together to agitate on the issue of LGBT rights (starting, unfortunately, with defending the legitimacy of the parade against those who think that they have a "constitutional right" not to see it.)
Did we get any new members since I left? I'm eager to hear what all has been going on.

Hey Mikey, I've got a nomination for HGoTW: Forbes March. It sort of continues the X-Men theme, since he starred in X-Men-inspired TV series, Mutant-X (since it was also produced by Marvel, I firgure it's fair game) along with the equally tasty Victor Webster.

Mmmmmmmm, Forbes March. I kinda felt bad for him since all the studly attention was decidedly on Victor on Mutant X, which isn't totally fair since they're both really hot. Mayhap I'll do a Boys of Mutant X installment. Hmmm, we'll see.
I hated how they did Forbe's powers in Mutant X. They had to make him the smart one >_<. I missed out on that show.... uh... what happened to the "Jean grey" of that series? One day it's just Shalimar the guys and Spark lady.
I only got a chance to see a few episodes of Mutant X when it was on. I don't know if they still play it or not, since it was pretty much a fad along with the other 1 hr Saturday/Sunday shows. Not many were good and they were pretty much slopped together. Finally bought Serenity (after a few months of saying I was... just wish they would have continued the series for at least another year, but I guess it wasn't too popular, compared to Buffy and Angel). I liked it

They killed her off (offscreen no less, the ultimate ****ting on a character) because the actress wanted to pursue a film career. Which of course didn't pan out and now Lauren Lee Smith is a muncher on The L Word. But she might have better luck this fall, she's got a decent-sized role in The Last Kiss, which I think is going to be incredible.
Mutant X was one of those shows where, in the right hands, could have been a really good show. Instead, it was sloppy, poorly written and looked as if the actors were embarassed half the time. Oh well, guilty pleasures are less fun when they're actually good.
That said: enter the men of Mutant X. Upon doing a Google Image search, I learned Victor Webster enjoys not only only posing half naked 90% of the time, he enjoys posing more or less nude the other 10% of the time. Sigh. Sometimes this gig is rough, ya know?
Meh, Mutant X was good for some cheap entertainment, you know... one of those shows that you didnt mind watching if nothing else was on.
As for the HGotW (yay, I can finally comment on him ): He's a good looking guy, with a hot body and great eyes, but I dont like his hair. And as a guy who likes hair, that is a bonerbuster.
Yeah, that's the thing about Forbes. He's really hot but long hair doesn't suit him well. There were some episodes (maybe a season?) of Mutant X where he had it cut short and his hotness factor went through the roof.
BTW, in case anyone is curious Forbes is now on some soap opera. I don't know which one, but it's on NBC. Victor just finished a half-season gig on Charmed. Dunno where he'll turn up next, but I'll be happy about it when he does. I haven't a clue about Victoria Pratt, the chick with the light powers, or the ugly old leader-type guy.

I'm so confused... gerg... when does a teacher ever get the responsibility to tell you how to attract women or men? Uh.... Lawsuit? I don't know what "Form" is... maybe it's just a peer taught class.... Still anyone in a position of authority shouldn't be telling you about men and women unless they're the sex education teacher and never should go into that kind of detail about that subject since it has nothing to do with the actual sex ed part.
Am I blowing that out of proportion or something? Did I misunderstand? It just seems totally unnecessary and highly inappropriate for a teacher to talk like that.
Anyway, resolving an issue I brought up quite a long time ago, my form teacher definately knows about my sexuality. Around Friday, in form period, my form teacher decides to tell us about the fact of working out to impress Spanish girls... and apparently Spanish boys too, whilst giving me a quick glance. And today? He talks about girlfriends... and boyfriends, at university. I'm just sick of it. Yes, I know he knows. Get over it.
If the teaher's behavior is making you uncomfortable, go to him about it. If that doesn't yield results, go to the principal. A teacher shouldn't act that way. I'd have him strung up by the balls.
The tough thing is, sometimes people'll bring it up to try and make you feel included. At least, people do that with me. For instance, your teacher may have thought that you'd feel left out if he just mentioned girls. That may not be the case here, but sometimes you've kinda just got to recognize and accept good intentions for what they are, even if they're a massive failure.
