@ Psychoburner: I take it you haven't been to the doctor yet? I hope you'll get well soon
@ Crimson Avatar: We study the use of the bastard sword and the dagger and we train using wooden weapons. I plan to have my own set of weapons by next week We also train unarmed combat.
I have a strong interest in the martial arts (I've been practicing Taekwon-Do for about eight years), so when I came across this opportunity (quite by chance), I just couldn't pass it up
@ Shadowfox: A bokken... Isn't that sword used in Kendo?
You know what I hate most about this thread? I log on and read two pages (at least, often more) and find all these little comments I want to respond to, so I click the little New Reply button, then I have to scroll down the entire page and open the thread in a new windo so I can reread the past 40 posts, copy and paste all the lines I want to reference, and put the quotes in manually.
But that's kind of what I love about it, too.

Anyone here watch the anime Bleach? This stuff is amazing!
I have a couple volumes of the manga, but I've never seen the anime. How can find it?
Quote from Photon Eater »
Genmaicha is a Japanese green tea served with puffed rice. It's a wonderful tea with a natural sweetness, and a strong aroma. It's a mild tea with a light, clean flavor. It's taste works well with most desserts, but it is also crisp enough to help cleanse one's palette. I enjoy having mine after dinner, and in the early morning with breakfast.
It doesn't make me sound very macho, but I like Jasmine Tea. I have it at Chinese New Year.
Ah, yes. I love Genmaicha. I like most kinds of green tea. But I love Jasmine tea. I prefer tea with a floral element, I've found.
Oh, and you celebrate Chinese New year? That's interesting.
Quote from Photon Eater »
In ancient China, men drank tea every day because it was said to give them strength!
Let us recall my motto (even if we don't know it).
Femmy guys and macho girls FTW!!

Lacking a soul mate is really putting a chip in my life:( Oh don't mind my ranting. Been stuck hanging out with people in relationships and some of them rubbing it in our faces.
Awww, I know how you feel :(. It's hard enough finding someone who understands you, but it's at least bearable if you have friends who do. Loneliness is the suck.
Quote from SapphireTri »
Plus its hard to tell what there preference is cause everyone likes to hide it alot around where I live. Cause goddess forbid you actually act yourself....lol
Eh . . . I kind of do that. In a way.
Quote from Janus »
Good evening all I had my first lesson in European Style Swordfighting today and I survived! Drinks are on me!
Sounds exciting. What do you think?
Quote from Shadowfox »
Most people will put on an act. I know I do sometimes. Not on purpose, I usually catch myself and think "wtf!?". It's wierd. i think people stop the act when they are comfortable enough that they will be "accepted". Todays society can be fairly rough to people, dog eat dog, almost.
People are confusing.
Indeed.
Most people don a kind of emotional armor, full equipped with diversionary tools, to avoid negative attention. Generally one has to test a group of people to see how one is going to be treated, and if the conditions don't seem favorable, the mask goes on.
Some are tired of having to do this, so they stop. And they may resent those that continue it, perpetuate the environment of having to hide. But for those that do hide - they don't want to be hurt, just like most people. It's not a political statement.
People are pretty confusing, though.
There, I think that's most of it.

All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the light that you see. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to be the peace that you feel. All that I yearn for, for richer or poorer, is to fill your heart on my own.
But the rainbow is an image of hope for many reasons, as it is a brilliant sight coming out of oftimes dismal weather.
ya But I believe you do it in a different fashion.:) Its just the way some people do it around me. But like I said I do it somewhat but I do it cause of trust issues. if I actually had to give a preference at this very moment in time I say I have no prefernce as I can't trust one or the other.:(
@mamelon: I celebrate Chinese New year because i have relatives in China, and it's a fascinating event. Colourful too.
Ahh, that's neat. I've always wanted to witness such a celebration. Sounds like a lot of fun.

@ Mamelon: Oh, I'm definitely going to keep doing this It's a pleasure to train with the people in this group, and our teacher knows his art. This does, however, require of me that I forget everything I've learned practicing Taekwon-Do (at least for that session), as the stances are quite different. It's quite... Refreshing, really
@ Shadowfox: Hmmm... I'll ask a friend of mine, he used to practice Naginata and he knows a bit about Kendo
I stopped participating in exams a while ago, after obtaining my blue belt. I decided to focus my efforts on my abilities in combat and on improving my lousy strength/speed/stamina
By the way, does anyone here take an interest in art?
How do you mean?

[edit] I do, but I don't actively pursue that interest. I just like to visit a museum every once in a while. I especially like paintings by the old masters [/edit]
Bokken, eh? I've had a couple lessons with them, I do aikido, which is closely linked to iaido, so we sometimes do iaido practice. There's some pretty intense stuff there, such as having someone doing a cut with full strength, and having to deflect the cut, and use its power to do a counter. It's kinda scary, but very fun.
Psychoburner, also called Jeff, is an active member of the Coffeehouse, but also can be seen in Clan Mythos, where he is currently engaged in developing a mythologically themed block.
Psychoburner came to MTGS in early 2006, after checking out the activity on the forums. His name is taken from the first deck he ever constructed.
Incidentally, his current favorite deck is called Psychoburner VII, the seventh incarnation of his original deck, given a fresh new face with the introduction of the Izzet Guild to the game of MTG. The deck revolves around Gelectrode and a variety of instants and counterspells that he uses to seize control of the board and burn the living hell out of his opponent at the same time.
I've always said people who are attracted to the combination of UR are people with a natural creativity- they contain both fire and water. This is certainly true with our friend Psychoburner. Outside the 'House, his favorite place to hang out is the Mythos clan threads, where creativity is abound. I also know for a fact that he pops up from time to time in the Custom Card games.
He also enjoys writing short stories and poems. His work is actually quite good, and he has a knack for explaining and describing complicated sensations such as what it would feel like to experience magic firsthand.
He hopes to someday become a published author, and has a pet story idea called "Knights of Silverstone", a tale about an order of knights that degenerates internally because of it's own corruption. He also hopes to someday meet a nice girl and settle down, which is a dream I'm sure that he'll be able to attain without many problems.
He has other hobbies, including D&D and console RPGs. He's a fan of 3.5 Psionics, which earns major points with me, and also likes playing fighting games and reading- something we could expect from someone with such an active imagination.
Psychoburner says his favorite part of MTGS and the Coffeehouse is the friendly people and the inviting environment- and the Cafe Mocha, his favorite drink. Naturally, I am disappointed that he isn't more fond of our wonderful teas, but considering his other good qualities, I believe I shall let it slide.
Not surprisingly, Psychoburner is a fan of Lightning Helix, and also a big fan of the card Cloud of Fairies. He says of all the cards in the game, the Cloud is his favorite, and has been since a friend gave him a playset when he first started playing. To this day, he finds a place for it in his favorite decks- and it leaves him with plenty of mana left for a nasty counterspell, so I advise everyone to be cautious.
Something people may not know about Psychoburner is that he suffers from epileptic seizures, something that began when he was 13 years old. Not to worry, though- he controls his condition with medication, and hasn't experienced a seizure in over a year.
Well, that about sums up Psychoburner, our member for the week of May 14th, 2006.
Everyone be sure to compliment him on how cool he is, but be warned... these UR types can be fickle, so don't be too surprised if he blasts you with fire out of boredom! And please feel free to stop by Clan Mythos and check out his superior card making skills.
Stay tuned next Sunday to see our next Regular of the Week. It might even be you!

Thank you for all of the nice things you said about me. It made me feel a little better.
Tomorrow a friend of mine is going to be picking me up from school. He doesn't have a reason, he just got a refund check from his student loans and decided to celebrate by going out to lunch. I have such great friends.
my friends and I have decided to pick up a box of Rav instead of a box of Dis or Guildpact. We agreed that the larger card base combined with stuff like Watchwolf and Lighting Helix is a good reason to pick it up.
EDIT: My love for R/U initially had a lot to do with convenience. My first deck was the R/U Judgment precon.

Oh darn, and here I was hoping to leave you feeling exposed and humiliated.
But seriously, no problem.
Yeah, I guess you could probably get a wider selection of good cards out of a box of a bigger set, but if you get a box of a smaller set, you are more likely to get a nice amount of decent uncommons and money rares.

I tried to argue in favor of Guildpact, until they pointed out that I've already bleeded the Izzet dry of good cards. I have a playset of every common and uncommon Izzet card that really interested me.
But both my friend Kevin and I don't have a large amount of Rav, so, it's simply more reasonable to pull cards from the set we have the least amount of.

Shadowfox and Janus, Arguas actually does Kendo so he'd probably know a bit more about what you guys are talkin' about.. I do know that he has a Shinai.... I'm not sure if that's what you're talkin' about or not.. lol.
Photon, great bit on Psychoburner.... I learned a bit about him after talkin' to him a few weeks ago, and so in that case, i do say that you did an excellent job! *serves Photon a gunpowder green tea* and Psychoburner, here's your traditional Cafe' Mocha!! I knew you'd appreciate a freebie

I bled the Izzet dry once. Do you realize how hard it can be to strap down someone who could self-detonate without warning? It wasn't an experience I relished, to say the least.
I like the UR combination a lot, too. It fits my personality the best of all. I've been compared to Niv Mizzet in that I am very experimental, creative, and unjustifiably vain.
I have an entirely unrelated question: How do I come across on the boards, personality wise?
