Welcome everyone to the CoffeeHouse... Being that our generous hostess is currently in class, it is my current duty to make sure that every man and woman who enters through these doors gets their coffee, dammit. So, forgive me as I start to edit through here. Before I do so, I must say that I'm in the camp among the people that there shouldn't be a gender bias, but I acknowledge there is one. I wish that in general people are more accepting of men in more feminine roles and women in what are considered to be masculine roles, such as the playing of video games and nerdy habits. It's gotten to the point where such a thing is a tremendous rarity, partly because of that social bias. Women who violate this trend, as a result, are some of the most interesting people you possibly could meet. Women who are willing to rise above the gender differences show a great deal of character, complexity, or just overall willingness to have fun, and are at least trying to look into a bit more what they want to do, rather than what society wants them to do. As a result, I find female gamers either to be either the kinds of people I would want to be friends with but otherwise stay away from (those who are completely rebellious to society in general) or my closest friends that I try to keep very close (Such as Omna, for instance! :D) This kind of gives the impression of I'm the ZOMG GIRL type sometimes, but that's not truly it.
I see why and how many of you would feel like relationships are confusing and damaging. Believe me, I've been there. Some of you already know, although since I doubt most of you really care, I'm not going to elaborate on it again.
People are people. They have potential to rise above and obey some of the better aspects of life, or they can choose to follow darker paths, and finally they can just kind of go with the flow of society. Those who go against the flow are some of the more interesting ones, but this sometimes drives them towards darkness as well. I wish I could respond to everyone here, but the amount of time it is going to take me just to record for Omna who needs to be friended and to make sure everyone get's their damn orders is gonna be enough.
So, without further ado, allow me to begin editing and finding a little slice of something, a slice of life, and something to wash it down with for everyone.
I wish they were more accepting, too. It would make things so much easier if people would stop letting their own preconceptions get in the way of everything.
I find that I tend to be somewhat rebellious from a gender standpoint, but in an atypical fashion. I enjoy my masculinity to a great deal, but I don't let anyone threaten it or define it for me. I like cooking, I like some things that others might consider girly, but I still consider myself very male.
Ultimately, I think it's important to realize that you don't have any obligations to anyone to be a certain type of person. Just be who you are, that's what really matters.

[16:23] Alacar Leoricar: maybe if you do it'll make the porn more meaningful
Yeah, we should all be like Viashinos. They don't find out their gender until later in life, so they choose whatever they prefer, and move on. That way, there is very little gender bias among our Lizard-like friends.
Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but as soon as I'm done with this chocolate milk, I gots an English assignment to work on. Later peoples! *Alacar finishes his milk and leaves a tip for Arguas & Omna
OK, decided it was worthwhile to add it in a completely other post.

I'm not really sure what you are saying... do you feel that homosexual feelings are just misplaced heterosexual feelings? I don't agree with that theory, personally.
As far as people keeping to themselves, I have mixed feelings. I'm not terribly vocal about my own sexuality offline. I don't believe in gay pride parades and rallies, and I don't bring my sexuality up to just anyone. I don't feel everyone needs to know, but at the same time, I feel that it's wrong to expect me to sit quiet about my own emotions. I feel I should be allowed to express myself as anyone else would, provided it doesn't harm anyone else. People are always going to be uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable watching a man and woman kiss, for example, if I don't know them, and yet no one takes issue with this. But, if I were friends with them, I would be supportive of their expression of love, because I would understand the significance of it, and wouldn't be uncomfortable with it.
Actually, I said I wanted to be the obnoxious folk singer, but I can be the token snarky customer. God knows it's a role that was written just for me.

Really? Thats cool! Then Ill join, you all seem like a friendly lot.
School was boring today so I read in most of my classes. I finally finished "speaker for the dead" during Trig. (Sci Fi) it was good
Anyone here read anything good lately?
My reads this year:
Wheel of time (all so far)
Enders game (2/6)
Sword of truth (all so far)
Magic novels from Invasion to Kamigawa
Wayfarrer Redemption (first 3)
Grappler, its an OverClan which means you can still be a member of another clan while still being a member of this one.. Just let us know whether you wish to be a "Casual Customer" or a "Regular"... Looks like you wanna be a regular tho;)
Awww... *hands SapphireTri Mocha with a plate of chocolate brownies* I definitely know how that feels... its a real pain... In fact, one of my greatest pet peeves are people who bail... or basically say they're going to do something/be somewhere and then they're not... Oh, that piiiiiiiisses me off... Arguas can verify that
And, he's been doing a great job at keeping this place running while I'm gone... But with a few errors- We DO have Italian Sodas... I'm adding those flavors you requested to the list... and as for Mountain Dew.... Hon, its made by Pepsi... But okay, we've got Pepsi AND Coke products... and of course we have an upcoming stock of fruitopia drinks.. However, I'm sure the smoothie Arguas made was just as good!!
We also need to add chocolate milk *eyes Alacar* and scones *eyes Photon Eater* and mamelon and Kristina, you two need to get back here and make some more cookies, Mr. Leprechaun took 'em all!
Arguas is out checking out his future apartment for next year (Number 42.. THE ANSWER!!) so I'm in charge.. *bwahahaha* and now I can make those edits:p Also.....
Photon Eater, spreadingdark.. Of COURSE we'd have tea.... it fuels the improbability drive after all!! Sorry, geeky Hitchhikers Guide reference
EDIT: Speaker for the Dead!! Enders Game!!!!! :D:D:D:D I looove those books! Have you read the Shadow ones?? Those are incredible.... Did you find Speaker hard to read? I remember I got through Speaker okay but Xenocide, I stopped halfway through I still need to pick up that series again... I'll probably read Enders' Game again, just to compare "Ender's Shadow" and the following "Shadow" books.. I still need to read "Shadow of the Giant"... That bastard Achilles..
And, are the Magic novels any good? I was considering giving those a try.... Arguas and I finished reading Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy together over Spring Break.. now reading "Restaurant at the End of The Universe" .. I also read part of Wheel of Time... That was okay but the details were killing me..I wanted to read every single detail and imagine everythign going on, that it ended up being too slow/time-consuming for me, because I had to read each paragraph like 5 times to absorb everything... I'm also starting "Choke" by Chuck Palahniuk, but I'm not so sure I'm going to like it... as i nearly felt like puking the last time I read it.. and i'm only on like, page 20. But, I'll probably pick it up again at some point as I hate to stop something altogether... Though I've done it before with Fellowship of The Ring and Xenocide... I did read DaVinci Code, Brave New World and The Lion, The Witch And the Wardrobe (the latter, four times, and saw the movie 3 times...), I hated BNW, loved Narnia (always have, always will:) ) *secret: Arguas hasn't read Narnia! *gaaaaaaaasp* * and DaVinci Code was okaaaayy.. My dad's devout Catholic, as is Arguas, so I have been influenced towards that regard, and my dad (plus the class i read these 3 books in- Literature & Religion) kind of influenced my perspective on DaVinci Code.. as its (I believe) probably a great deal of baloney.. however, it may be true... Still... However, I did loooooooooooooooooooooooove Angels & Demons.. that was a real story... somethign I could enjoy and relate to, having visited Rome/Vatican City... DaVinci Code just messes with your mind and people's religious beliefs.. yea, it may be true, but some of the connecting details are just...fishy. I also read Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress" and that was a GOOD book.... I enjoyed it:) I have Deception Point waiting on my bookshelf... Arguas got me that for a Christmas present, in addition to S for Silence, which is the latest book in the Sue Grafton alphabet murder mystery series.. a series I've loved for years... I've read them all up to R, and I always make a habit to wait until the NEXT one comes out before reading this one, so that i never "run out"
Whew. Obviously, I'm a HARDCORE book-lover... Hence why (in the introductory post) I said "the owner highly recommends book clubs;) " Or something along those lines.. I know i edited that line too lol..
Tall skinny double mocha with a shot of vodka, and a black bottom cupcake, a volume of Lone Wolf & Cub, and Devin Townsend playing in the background. thanks!
In other news I'm a Magic gal and love to give other players crap about losing to a girl.
OH I like geeky hitchhikers refrences!
*orders some brownies*
as you can see I gave up studying lines for the play...:(
oh well
I used to have the same problem (Sapphiretri) with our director for our plays last year. The scedual would say "practice at 6:30" and Id make the drive into town and break into the school (for lack of security and lack of open doors for practice) and find 2 people waiting outside the auditiorium. We talked for 30 minutes and finally we got a call from one of the other cast members "oh yeah. Mrs. BLANK got in a car accident and won't make it to practice tonight" but that was only the beginning...from then on we had half of our schedualed practices and these werent because of the accident...but I wont get into why she never showed up...after all those are her problems not mine.
Oh yeah, the play sucked too
Arguas can verify that
Aww thanks hun. It most def sucks. This has been happening way too much. Heck I remember I broke a friendship cause my friend*being the one who was suppose to drive us to lower new jersey about 3 hours away for a tournament* didn't even show up to pick us up cause he decided at last second that his guild on WoW was more important then his group of friends he made a promiss to. I don't mind if you have to cancel But come on give us notice more then 10 mins.
Well I'm going out for a drive to go relax my temper and go food shopping. TTYL:)
Have fun!
If I could go for a drive and then out to eat I would...but I dont have a licence (maybe if I wernt so lazy)
Yes the 11 minute tip is much MUCH better then the 10 minute warning
*Pops head in Huh.. looks like things have been busy. I'll just have a small chocolate milk. I can't get enough of the stuff.
So, Omna's revealed her true geekdom--books. I strongly recommend the Magic novels. I wrote a review of the Ravnica one here. I need to read the Guildpact one.
Also, if anyone wants to try a game online against me on MWS, just gimme a PM. I'm up for a casual game... though be aware that I've yet to play online with it. I've done solo games.
In addition, anyone want to try a draft around here on Netdraft sometime?

after all that is said and done (and school's over for the day) I should probaly go memorize my lines for our school play...concidering hte show is next week and I have the leading male role (in technical terms) and I only know half my lines
we are doing "Our Town" possibly the most boring piece of literiture that a high school could pull off...but hey I have the lead right?
*grappler12 guilts himself into studing lines...but will probally stop once throughly bored*
thanks DarkNightCavalier for the sig!

Ok I'm gonna shut up now and see where I left off

Tall skinny double mocha with a shot of vodka, and a black bottom cupcake, a volume of Lone Wolf & Cub, and Devin Townsend playing in the background. thanks!
In other news I'm a Magic gal and love to give other players crap about losing to a girl.

Aww thanks hun. It most def sucks. This has been happening way too much. Heck I remember I broke a friendship cause my friend*being the one who was suppose to drive us to lower new jersey about 3 hours away for a tournament* didn't even show up to pick us up cause he decided at last second that his guild on WoW was more important then his group of friends he made a promiss to. I don't mind if you have to cancel But come on give us notice more then 10 mins.
Well I'm going out for a drive to go relax my temper and go food shopping. TTYL:)
And thank you:p
If I could go for a drive and then out to eat I would...but I dont have a licence (maybe if I wernt so lazy)
Yes the 11 minute tip is much MUCH better then the 10 minute warning

Huh.. looks like things have been busy.
