I never used to like texting but one of my friends uses it as his main means of communication so Ive gotten used to it. I wish it was free for me like it is for him -_-. Talking to him 50 times cost me 10 dollars so I think I'm going to pay the extra 5 dollars a month for free texting lol.
Oh plus he's a straight guy I have a crush on lol. At least it's not such a big deal this time.
Noid: I post because at work I'm so very bored. They've literally given me busy work and next week during spring break that's all i'm going to be doing. I wish I were doing something more innovative -_-. Oh well.
Yay! I found Final Destination on DVD!!! Sam Goody/Suncoast was going out of business at one of the lesser used (but amazingly awesome) malls. Unfortunately the shops there are closing and it's disappointing. I haven't been any help cuz that was the first time I ever visited it.
Okay, so Im obviously new here. My name is TJ, im 21, I live in 2 states actually ( between Texas and Florida, flying out to Texas this evening). Im really just trying to understand myself a bit more. I come from a deeply religious family, and I myself have always been raised to believe that man and woman where only meant to be together. I always believed that until I met a guy who just changed my life. And I realized that the connection between us was more than just friendship. It was really hard for me to come to terms with the fact that I am indeed bisexual ( at the very least), especially with my relationship with God interferring, but I have come to the realization that all of Gods children are just that: God's children. Please, dont believe that I am trying to impose my beliefs on any of you, because I am not. Just telling you guys how I came this far. Anyway, I am glad to be here. I am a dedicated Magic player, been playing for about 8 years ( i quit for a while after my entire collection was stolen when my home was burglarized). I have played other games, and I am currently a VS System Judge and Pokemon Professor, and working on becoming a Magic DCI Judge. So, I hope to bring some good to this forum with my posts, and that everyone, basically, likes me. So yeah, thats about it.
Does this mean you've put religion ahead of your own sexuality and have decided that you'll only have sex with a woman *of course, after you've married ;)* or am I completely misinterpreting it :confuse:
I think he meant that he was able to come to terms with being bisexual and religious. He didn't have to put one ahead of the other; they could both fit into his life. That's what I got out of it, anyways.
Please, dont believe that I am trying to impose my beliefs on any of you, because I am not.
I don't think that. I don't even really understand what your beliefs are, let alone think you're trying to impose them on us.
Welcome TJ.
On texting versus real talking, I heartily despise texting. I'm not a big fan of anything that people can hide behind instead of being able to do things face to face. My only exception to this is when huge distances are involved, but even then the phone is the best option, not the sterile, lifeless texting.
Um. I don't really have an opinion on texting vs. talking.
Welcome to TJ, and please enlighten us as to your post, as there seems to be some disagreement over meaning.
mikey's almost all better, musical's simply rockstar, Ben Folds concert tonight...:D
Life is good.
Haha. Mikey and I were talking about marriage last night. Not DIRECTLY about us getting married, but...indirectly. I have always had the mentality of "no getting married, ahahaha", but I made a slip and said "When I get married"...he was joking around, and goes "Who would you get married to?"
Being the little smartass I am, said something like "well, you won't be here four or five years from now, and besides, you'll probably find someone better in college anyway"...kind of implying that since he's moving back to Ohio for college, he won't be here for me to marry him [if we even still talk that far down the line].
Then he almost made me cry [a little], 'cause he goes "Well, who's to say I won't be gone for four years, and come back?"
Gah. I'm not even out of high school yet! I also made up this thing about how I'm not getting married until I can do it virtually: video phone! I had this whole thing about a wall of screens for the party and the pastor, and then there'd be everyone else..with the bride and groom in front of all the monitors. Whee!
Now Molly and I are making shirts for the Ben Folds concert tonight at the Rave. SO EXCITED!

Welcome, 2QT! ... which I kinda read as -[too cute]-, but maybe I'm mistaken.
I'm curious about everyone's occupation, and / or what ya guys do to put food on the table... erm... if you -[do]- put food on a table... 'cause, well, I work, but I don't? ... supply? ... okay, I'm confusing myself. MY MONEY! >=D
I'm just a simple "cashier" at Target... then again, they have me doin' whatever they need me for, since I'm trained in pretty much every department, so I'm more a utility personnel than anything. Just waitin' for my raise! ... which pops the next question, what do you guys think earns / rewards a raise?
Though I can't give much truth / statement to that question myself, I have this burning idea that I'd better complain / "riot" if I don't get a raise around my 'one year mark,' let alone start lookin' for a new job if I find the raise is insufficient... that said, this company is practically trying to promote me without increasing my pay grade, which is just... @#$%!!!!!
But yeah, all right. And hey, -[Paranoid]-, I'm able to do such things 'cause I don't get home till close to midnight almost every single night, as is. That, and most of my free time is spent near a computer, oddly and sadly enough... erm, yeah... yay? ^^;;
Banquet porter at a hotel. Ever been to a con, wedding, meeting, interview, or function at a hotel or conference building? I set those up. Lug tables, chairs, AV equipment, whatever the client needs. Then I set the room up as needed. Our side duties include providing coffee, tea and meals for meetings, bartending functions and assisting servers during meal services.
Though in the hotel I'm somewhat of a jack of all trades. I've done room service, served in the restaurant, pub and in banquets, pitched in with maintenance a couple times and I hope to work security this summer since security's shifts fit my life a bit better.
Also, as a side gig, I dispense life, sex and fashion advice.
what do you guys think earns / rewards a raise?
At my work, we have a contract with our union that gets us a fixed-percentage raise every year (I think right now it's 2.5% a year for four years, but that contact is up, so it'll change once the new one is signed). I started off making $7/hour as a banquet server and after a year my probationary period was up and I went up to $8.36/hour. Then I got promoted to banquet porter (where I would have made $7.11 while on probation) and I now make $8.47. The proposed contract as I know it would have us getting a fairly significant raise in the base wage in addition to the small annual percentage raises. I think I'd be making $9.35 or so plus 2% a year under the new contract if we get it.
I think how long you've worked at your workplace should be a factor in getting raises. As should your skills/education, work responsibilities, your record of employment (good workers should get raises before not-as-good workers) and your worth to your employer. Raises should in general be used as an incentive to stick with a job, especially if there's a good reason for our employer to want to keep you.

Yes. Terrence and I used to hang out at Shotokan but I wasn't out and didn't know he was gay. He moved to Florida and I hung out with some of his friends and talked to him occasionally (though his phone stopped working after a while!!!!>_<)
Hey Terrence Shotokan moved into the post office across the way. I know they've been talking about moving there for like 2 years now since they've been paying for it that long but they finally did it. The space is a little bigger and it's all in one room now instead of a bunch of little rooms. That helps with the sweaty man smell btw.
Rob Moore works there now too so you'll get to hang out with him. Don't know much else cuz I'm rarely ever there.
Oh, Micah, I miss you so! And TJ sounds cooler than Terrence, doesnt it? You always understand me well. So, as to my post. As I see it, there seems to be a lot of confusion as to what I believe in, and where I stand on the whole sexuality thing. Basically, it amounts to this: I believe that God created us all in his image, and that none of us woke up one morning getting the urge to be with someone of the same sex. I just dont believe that is the way it happens. I do believe that our Lord made us the way he wanted us to be, because if he didnt want us this way, then we wouldnt be. As to my signature, It is just something I picked up through ministry. It pretty much means that it is much better to place all your faith in Christ and in the end it turn out that he doesnt even exist, than to renounce him and what he stands for and it turns out that he is real. Also, 2QT2BSTR8 is "too cute to be straight". Also, I love both men and women, as they are both beautiful creatures. Tobey Maguire is a beautiful person, and for the most random comment of them all.......Go Yankees! Okay, so like, I should get some sleep as I have a 5 am flight to DFW International Airport. So yeah, peace.
I dunno I thought Terrence was pretty unique. It's very characteristic you know? TJ sounds kinda generic like BJ or RJ or the like. Terrence defines you more.
I love both men and women, as they are both beautiful creatures.
You are correct, sir.
Welcome to you, TJ. Or Terrence. Whatever. Tell me how you would like me to address you?
I had been thinking about religion myself, and even though I am atheistic, I can still appreciate the beauty of creation. For me, virtue comes from being kind to my fellow human beings. I believe that there is no such thing as a "soul." Death is an honor that we give to creatures of the future so that they might live. Death is permanent and nonexistent. Therefore, we must enjoy this lifetime in the finite amount of time that we have. Further, I believe that there is no such thing as "sin"; there are only unethical actions. It is from this framework that I reconcile "homosexuality."
Maybe you don't care.
Do you believe that loving all people is loving God's creation?

Most Eastern 'religions' are more like philosophies or belief sets than strucured religions. Being a Taoist pretty much just means believing the things Taoism teaches. It wouldn't hurt to join some sort of Taoist-based community, online or irl (if you can find one).
And just because it could be an interesting discussion and, well frankly, because self-pics of 'the finger' irritate me let me ask you, TJ... if: "It is better to believe that there is a God and be wrong than to believe that there is no God and be right."
I just got into a car accident. My car is totalled pretty much, and so is the other one. No one got hurt past a few bruises, which really makes me happy because I was driving/responsible. Anyways, I'm pretty much really shooken up, so I might take a bit of a break from posting obviously for a bit.

Dang! Thank goodness ya came out all right, and that a few bruises is all that came from it. I hope there's some insurance and other coverage on the car, for 'additional safety' after all this? ... erm, and take that break, then. Hope you're feelin' right and well sooner than later, and that any bruises ya may have sustained are healed shortly.

Why?
Although not directed to me, I feel I'll take this opportunity to shamelessly advertise something related to this:
-------
What if I do get caught? What if there is no judgment? If I'm right, I lose nothing If you're right, I lose it all Oh, I oughta get caught Because I'm doin' something wicked I'm guilty, haunted by my fears And the only consequences Are dread and the fugitive mind
-------
"It's about judgment. The great paradox is if there isn't a God and you live your life like a good person, you haven't lost anything. If there is a God and you lived your life like a dirtbag, you're screwed. Basically what I'm saying is, 'What if there's no judgment?' I think a lot of times people have gotten up on the moral hilltop and yelled down to the masses down at the bottom of the valley about their spiritual superiority and it just alienates you." (Mustaine, 2001)
-------
As it goes, I happen to agree with this point of view. Yeah. ^^;; And although I've tried to be more "religious" in recent times, it's hard to turn towards a vision that ya neglected for most of your life... (and if anyone cares, the song is "Dread And The Fugitive Mind" by MEGADETH.)
I just got into a car accident. My car is totalled pretty much, and so is the other one. No one got hurt past a few bruises, which really makes me happy because I was driving/responsible. Anyways, I'm pretty much really shooken up, so I might take a bit of a break from posting obviously for a bit.
Sheesh! Pleeeeeeease be careful! Y'all just had a terrible car accident I don't think I could bear another one.
Nevermore: It's sorta the way I feel but I think the way I explained it to myself was, "Religion these days seems to be based on fear. the fear that there is a god and the fear of his wrath. The fear of doing wrong for fear of punishment. The fear of an afterlife where your actions in this life can affect it negatively or positively."
Basically I don't want to live in fear. If I'm going to do the right thing I want to know it's because it's the right thing. I shouldn't need someone else to tell me that what I'm doing is morally or ethically right. And I think a lot of people follow God because they're afraid not to. in which case they're following for the wrong reasons. And if you follow for the wrong reasons God will know and you're still going to be lost to him.
Lol I thought we were going to stop talking about God.
"It's about judgment. The great paradox is if there isn't a God and you live your life like a good person, you haven't lost anything. If there is a God and you lived your life like a dirtbag, you're screwed. Basically what I'm saying is, 'What if there's no judgment?'
There are several things wrong with this point of view. First of all, we're not talking about simply believing in God or even judgement, we're talking about believing exactly what the Church says and doing exactly what the Church says in order to be judged favorably. Because of this, the suggestion that "you haven't lost anything" is quite false. You have lost the ability to live your life the way you want to live.
To provide a topical example, if my belief in God and fear of judgement meant I did everything the Catholic church told me to do in order to go to heaven, I would not be in the healthy, loving relationship that has enriched my life for the past five years. If I go to Hell because of it, then yeah I certainly am screwed. But if I gave that up in order to go to Heaven and Heaven does not exist (or maybe it does exist but God doesn't give a lick which gender I have sex with) I most certainly did lose something, didn't I?

As it goes, I happen to agree with this point of view. Yeah. ^^;; And although I've tried to be more "religious" in recent times, it's hard to turn towards a vision that ya neglected for most of your life... (and if anyone cares, the song is "Dread And The Fugitive Mind" by MEGADETH.)
