I don't think Augustin is going to be the new Circu, honestly. 3 mana Windreaver, 4 mana Melokus, 5 mana Keigas, 1 mana Mana leaks, UW costed Aethermage's Touch. This guy scares me, honestly. On the other hand, the new white removal I don't think is going to see as much play as people are giving it credit for.

Basically:
S + T = W
...S in this case stands for 'spam' and the T stands for 'light trolling'. And the W? That stands for 'Warning'. I love math. -- {mikeyG}
Oh DA, when will you learn? Blue is the colour of winningness! I can see it now... UGW counter-burn, starring Augustin and Windreaver. Very tasty gentlemen, very tasty.

Well to be fair, who DOESN'T like card draw? Well, maybe the Rakdos, but they're a strange breed anyway:p. My favourite colour combination, and not only in Magic, has been red and blue. For some reason, those two colours seem to fit so well with each other. Also, does anyone else thing that pink and black are ironic colour combinations? Not taking into account Emo, pink is generally the colour of girlyness and happiness. Black on the other hand, is associated with death. Just something that's always bugged me, as they tend to look good with one another.

Net-decking prominence has always been an interesting circumstance. I try not to net-deck, but I do on occasion. Life with Wake and Affinity. What's nice about group play is that we can avoid net-decking. I don't even try roguing out at tourneys. It has only worked on occasions.

Oh, you play Guild Was, too? I haven't played in a long time (again, with the video/computer games), but I was playing a Mesmer/Monk. I was only on level 9, though . . .
About Grand Arbiter Augustin - I'm surprised how good that looks. I wouldn't have expected to see that for 2WU.
And I almost think Biomantic Mastery would have you draw too many cards.

Yeah, I see a lot of blue elitism (a guy who owns a comic shop we used to frequent says it's "the only good color," pshaw) and a lot of anti-blue elitism. But ya know, I don't think there's any best color in Magic. It's all up to preference.
I, for example, love black. I also happen to love - LOVE black in combination with red or green. My pet deck, Spooky Kids, is a B/R half aggro, half control deck that uses Kiki-Jiki, Ravenous Rats, and things like Grave Pact to keep the opponent off-balance while my Hypnotic Specters and Kokushos move in for the kill. It also prevents any form of life gain with things like Flames of the Blood Hand. Needless to say, I do not play red like other people I know. I hate that red is designed to be "kill kill kill it!" and I hate that it seems like people ONLY play red decks that way.
I think the reason there's a lot of blue hate is because blue is that one color that does everything differently from the other four. Only blue has counterspells, only blue has huge amounts of card drawing, only blue has "good" bounce, and only blue can snatch away permanents for good. I know when I was first exposed to blue, I wasn't too pleased with it.
Of course, my first exposure to blue was Mana Sink ¬_¬;;
I'm actually not a fan of card drawing. And I know, that sounds really weird, but when it comes to my colors I'm kind of screwed on it anyhow. I mean, Lyzolda is going to pump the big SK up a huge amount because of her draw potential, but other than that I've had only three cards lately which allow me to draw cards on a regular basis: Promise of Power, Geth's Gromoire, and Phyrexian Arena.
Promise of Power is probably the only good card to come out of Mirrodin; I hate that set. But I can't really deal with the huge life loss sometimes. Geth's Grimoire is situational and an artifact and no. Phyrexian Arena...eh, I like it.
Oh! I keep forgetting Seizan, Perverter of Truth. He's good. He also screws up the opponent in surprising ways ^_~

I plan to. From what I've heard from friends, in Chicago rent can run around $900+, and I don't know what utilities run. When I get out of college the thought of getting my own place really scares me in a lot of ways because of the financial stuff.
It all depends on what neighborhood you live in. My partner and I live in the Loop and we pay $1,300 for our 1-bedroom apartment. That's pretty damn good (check it out if you want). Unfortunately, the studios in our building aren't as good a deal so you'd likely want a roomate. That's true just about anywhere, though. If you head north to Roger's Park, you can get a studio for $500-600 (don't bother with anywhere between the Loop and RP though). Prices are also reasonable south of the Loop in Printer's Row. In any case, if you shop around a little you can find a good deal, especially if you are willing to live with a roommate. I wouldn't suggest buying right now since it is predicted that prices will drop in the next few years, but they're decent now so it's an option.

The Golden Rule of forums: If you're going to be rude, be right. If you might be wrong, be polite.
Hm. Well blue is certainly not my favorite color. It's okay but I'm more of a green guy. For some reason Biorhythm and Mirri, Cat Warrior are some of my favorite cardds. However I think that Blue has really gotten shafted with Ravnica so far. In Rav the Blue Black guild is basically limited play only. In Dissention sure UR is okay but barely. GU has graft which is going to see some limited play and probably constructed depending on what they put it on. And UW finally looks really decent. I really like forecast but I just hope the cost isn't always, "Tap two untapped blue creatures" "Tap two untapped White creatures" or "Tap two white and or blue untapped creatures" to draw a card. I mean free card draw is great but tapping creatures isn't fun
Biomantic Mastery seems good only against a control deck where they draw one OR in a Two Headed Giant or other Multiplayer environment.
Augustin looks really nutty. The reason I like him though is because of the 2/3 body with that "makes things more expensive for your opponennt" clause. Play Remand with him and it's awesome. They'll have to pay 2 more for their spell and you get to draw a card for U.
Aethermage's Touch has really got me going though. I like that card soooo much and with Augustin out it only costs UW!
I like blue, especially when white gets involved- I like it when my opponent can't do anything but squirm and whine.
Meanwhile, if you want a good example of bara, gerg, check out Masanori's PC game, Hunks Workshop. I don't know if I should share a link, because it can be somewhat explicit.
Meanwhile, I have an awful headache that won't go away, and I'm also sort of thinking of entering a poetry contest I read about in yesterday's paper. I realize that's not on-topic, but since when is anything on-topic in this clan, eh?

I like blue because it has all I really want in a color (except for lifegain - I actually tend to like lifegain). I don't really care if it's the "best" color or not. I also think I partially like it because I just like the actual color.
My most recent deck is mono-blue and is centered around copying cards, such as Clone, Copy Enchantment (perfect timing, Wizards), Izzet Guildmage, and what is probably my favorite card out of City of Guilds, Followed Footsteps.
It's just . . . fun.
And I hope liking blue doesn't make me any enemies.

<<; Alright for those of you who don't know. I love .Hack// and I love the deck Wake. >__> Anyways any thoughts on it are luffed and here's the Poem I wrote that I parodied offa Emma Wielant.
Unknown where the Cursed WAKE was born...
After the stars doth cross the heavens and MTG tables...
The sky in the East doth brighten with Life Gain.
And air doth fills with countering.
From the chosen land search to a forest,
A sign of the Wake comes.
Riding the Wake is: Hinder, the shadow of no return,
to drown all that stands.
Mirror of Cloudyness Meloku,
Betray all with the flying 1/1 Token,
and did aid the Wake.
And by the Loxodon Hierarch,
a drop from the Wave doth reach the Next Round,
and creates a new Wake. With the Wake, Sensei’s Divining Top,
the power to tell the dark future,
hope darkens, counters and creature control rule.
Mana Leak schemes when swallowed by the Cursed Wave.
Jushi seduces with the sweet trap.
Wake reaches the Pinnacle, and escape no player can.
Wrath of God still remains with more cruelty to punish and destroy.
And with the turbulent destruction after the Wake.
Only a void remains.
From deep within the void arrives Keiga, the Tide Star. Yet to return, the Tiding One.
Who quests for the Kill Condition
Rumbles the Dark Library,
And Vitu-Ghazi, Queen of the Saprolings, has raised finally her army.
Kiyomaro, King of Life Gain, beckons...
At the base of the rainbow they meet.
Against the abominable "Rock," together they fight.
The tension boils lake boils.
Lifes great tree doth fall.
Power - all now to droplets turned in the Temple of Gardens.
Returns to nothing, this world of Game Two.
Only to return, the Cranialless one.
Who quests for the Keiga Dragon. The life buffeted by "wakes" turns her back on the field.
The other contenders that waited for the game to end,
"For sure... For sure I can go home."
But the contenders did not know...
The truth that waited at the end of the game
The eternal mourning of time clock. In the place of the calamity, only life was known.
After the circling players
When the eastern Ghazi was tapped, the air full of despair
Tapping the Forest, And the land of Island and Plains. Riding fast on the path is Hinder
Bearing a counterspells shadow, it eliminates all that seek to thwart the Wake.
The Clouded Mirror Meloku
Deceives those that see it with 1/1 flying tokens to rescue damage. The wake soaring high, when its head is smashed,
A new wake will emerge
To become Heiarchs's power.
When questioning the wake,
Hope's light will be lost when he speaks of the Rocks future of where
sorrow and resignation reign.
Using Elk's Technique When engulfed by the Waves of Calamity, Mana Leak will plan
The sweet snare of conciliation is Jushi
The Waves, an exceeding maelstrom
Nothing can escape When you think you have escaped, Wrath of God exists
To destroy those with his exceeding cruelty
Upon violent requital, only to remain is the void, the vacant darkness
is the harbinger that Keiga is to appear. ----Emma Wielant/DotHackerElk

I started thinking about Rakdos, which I think is finally going to replace my favorite card of all time (Desolation Angel). I love Rakdos the Defiler, its sooooo insane.
I started thinking about decks that could use him as a finisher. At first I was going to build a deck that looked something like the deck below. It had a spell base closer to my other B/R/W deck but relies more on Hellbent. The main goal I wanted to achieve with this deck is giving Rakdos Doublestrike and him getting through unblocked, dealing 14 damage, and triggering his ability twice. I also put the Boros Guildmage in to give him haste when he first comes out:
But as a lot of people have said, if you go to attack with Rakdos use creature removal on him, you're kinda screwed. So I'm starting to think R/B/U for the sake of counters and bounce.

See, I'm NOT happy about Augustin because I'm never happy about anything that makes my cards more expensive to play. This includes bounce and taxing effects like Ghostly Prison, as well. Bad enough that my favorite Ravnica cards are all at least five-drop (with the exception of Mourning Thrull and Shambling Shell), now I'm gonna have to worry about Josh *points to Photon Eater* playing Augustin on me and forcing me to play a five-mana Eradicate he'll probably Mana Leak when I'm tapped out anyway >_<;;
Yeah...I was never, ever a big fan of blue myself. When I first got into the game back in school, my best friend at the time played U/W and destroyed me on a regular basis. So blue has always left a bad taste in my mouth since then, but I realized a while back that blue also has a problem with dealing with early pressure. So now I build fast decks and it's all good. My motto with Spooky Kids and Reincarnate (my B/G deck I'm currenty in love with) are "better kill me fast or you'll regret it." And it's proven true so far. Especially once Debtor's Knell and Savra hit the table.
Unfortunately, I can never, ever, EVER seem to get my Orzhov deck to be even reasonably fast. I guess beaurocracy hates me as much as I hate it.
I'm definitely saving a kill or four for Augustin, though. I generally tend to dislike elves AND wizards anyway, so it won't pain me to build up any hate for him =)

Sometimes we play Magic. Otherwise....no.
Current New Favorite Person™: Mallory Archer
She knows why.
My most recent deck is mono-blue and is centered around copying cards, such as Clone, Copy Enchantment (perfect timing, Wizards), Izzet Guildmage, and what is probably my favorite card out of City of Guilds, Followed Footsteps.
It's just . . . fun.
And I hope liking blue doesn't make me any enemies.
*hugs blue*

<<; Alright for those of you who don't know. I love .Hack// and I love the deck Wake. So I combined the two into one awesome thing... .Hack//Wake o__o; Yep there's the deck that I'm working on Post-Dissension but I doubt with my cash-pool I'll ever get to finish it. Unless I get a job. So um.. if you ever see me working at Worlds of Fun (For those that live in Missouri) Or on the street corner selling myself for cheap cash. Leave a tip for the love of god!
Using Elk's Technique
When engulfed by the Waves of Calamity, Mana Leak will plan
The sweet snare of conciliation is Jushi
The Waves, an exceeding maelstrom
Nothing can escape
When you think you have escaped, Wrath of God exists
To destroy those with his exceeding cruelty
Upon violent requital, only to remain is the void, the vacant darkness
is the harbinger that Keiga is to appear.

Yep... I'm so going to hell =D!
When the finger points to the yonder moon,
The fool will not look at the fingertip.
The Whole cannot be changed.
We've already lost that chance.
Because the time left to us was short.
We were mistaken in our path.
But now do we realize,
We should not change the whole,
But the parts.

Blah.
4x Blood Crypt
4x Sulfurous Spring
4x Godless Shrine
2x Sacred Foundry
3x Sunhome, Fortress of the Legion
1x Shizo, Death's Storehouse
4x Mountain
4x Avatar of Discord
4x Rakdos Pit Dragon
4x Rakdos the Deflier
4x Infernal Tutor
3x Blazing Shoal
4x Lightning Helix
4x Char
4x Seal of Fire
3x Anthem of Rakdos
But as a lot of people have said, if you go to attack with Rakdos use creature removal on him, you're kinda screwed. So I'm starting to think R/B/U for the sake of counters and bounce.
(Also known as Xenphire)
Boo, stupid rules.
Well, you probably would have won anyway. I can't imagine there'd be another person in the area that would be as good as you are at poetry.

I generally tend to dislike elves AND wizards anyway, so it won't pain me to build up any hate for him =)
First, Alandariel, now you.
Well, *hugs*.
I hope we can keep it above the belt.
P.S. Sigged! OM*cenxors*GOD!!!
So yeah. I've always been a fan of master tech Wake. I'm working on a "casual" version of Wake for Legacy. I needs the Tundras though. It'd be uber if anyone here had Tundras.
