Last Thread

We are the guild of deals. Our goal is to gain wealth. With wealth comes power and authority. Anything that a client wants we will provide, for the right price ofcourse. Remember, we are the guild of deals so we are on good terms with all guilds and clans. No arbitrary enemies. Not to say we are push-overs, if a group strikes against us we will crush them with extreme prejudice.

Is this our new thread, so that Votan can close the other?

Orzhov, not sure it should be entered into the poll, but you missed my...umm...second motto sumbission:
"If you ask, you will receive. If you receive, you will pay."

Then again, it really has no hope of winning.

Also, you misspelled and didn't capitalize "Everything" in "Everything has a price, even your soul."
(I know it was originally entered as "evrything", but it's much more professional to have it be correct english.)

On another note, I think we also need a clan banner. I would be more than happy to shop one up, but we should probably decide what will be in it and how big it needs to be as well as decide finish the motto voting first so I can put the official motto in.

I still like Pacmanvr's motto. Simple, yet effective.
Also, don't we need a new Ghost Council Member if TBB left? Or are we going to try it with three?

Just relized my motto can be voted on and I didn't vote for it. LOL. Pacmvr's is still better though.

I was hoping a clan contest would be up by now for our clan to focus on. If nothing develops we would need something to do so I'll consider your suggestion.

thebluebeetle was only put up for consideration because he was nominated by a former Ghost Council member to replace him.

Just my opinion: We should have certain rules/guidlines for members joining. As with the last thread alot of people wanted to join but never posted. I think from now on new members should have a certain amount of post.

This could be very difficult. If we go purely by activity on the previous thread, it's me, but if we go by content and value to the clan (which we should), then it becomes a very complex difficult choice. As a result, I decline to nominate or even suggest anyone at this time.

I agree, the 4th member should be voted on by content and value to the clan. I've been a member of the clan since the beginning and even Stolin said that the reason I was not considered to be on the council was because I was in a member of another clan before I joined. If we are going to choose a 4th member, which we should, Krashbot101 has my vote. We should have a 4th member before the clan contest begins.

As for joining, the only real reasonable restriction we can put on is post-count. As I mentioned on the previous thread, the restriction, if instituted, should be between 30 and 50 (60 at the very most).

I also suggest a system for removing members or at least bumping them to a different catagory from "member" if they don't post for a certain amount of time (no more than 2 weeks). This will allow us to clean up the members list and such (we can either remove their names or dump them in a spoiler tag) as well as having the members list actually show the active members.

I realize I'm bringing up a lot of issues at the same time, so here is the order in which I believe they need to be completed (top = sooner):
1: New Ghost Council member
2: Membership restrictions
3: Clan banner.

If pacmanvr agrees to the change of his submission we'll use "Everything" instead.

While the quality of the posting is important, the position of 'Clan Council representative' requires someone who is on the boards often to check the Clan Council Thread.

As for a 4th Ghost Council member, we should look for someone who'll stick around and be able to participate and organize clan contests. This would be an incentive for experienced and/or active members to join this clan.

I think that activity in the clan would actually be a very good way to decide on a new member of the council, if only because we need a stronger representative of the clan. With TBB, who was going to be that active representative, gone I would have to say Krashbot is our best bet.
If it goes however, that we determine by vote or "opinion and value to the clan", I still vote for Krashbot, as he has contributed a lot to this clan, and even already in this thread has shown himself to be important to the clan.
So, I second !Kameleon!'s nomination of Krashbot.

Just a quick motto question. Has anyone read the book? If so you would notice that some of the motto options do not sound like Orzhov quotes, some even sound like Rakdos quotes! Oh and the Nephilim in the book is awesome and Uncle was cool as hell too..sorry, got off track..

I, for one, haven't read the book. I generally don't read the Magic books, I play the game and look at flavor from the perspective you get from almost exclusively cards (and a little bit mtg.com articles), so I didn't notice this.

Just wondering, which ones do sound like Orzhov quotes? Right now I'm thinking Syndicate's probably works best ("You have nothing to fear unless you have nothing to offer."), but I'm yet to vote mainly because I'm yet to decide which I like best.

Welcome, Striking Dragon. I'm glad we have "business" arrangements with a member of the Azorius Senate :wink:.

While the poll is primarily meant for clan members anybody who wishes to visit our thread may vote. If the poll doesn't accurately reflect the wishes of the clan, it can be over-turned.

I'm not yet sure who I would vote for 4th GC member . . . . . . . but once we get it settled you should go make a new thread ASAP with a poll on who is our 4th Ghost Council member.

Oh, and we should get a motto ASAP. So we can get our 4th Council member soon too.

I think we can probably come up with a better name for active posters, but the rest looks good. We should also add that if you don't post on a thread before the next one starts, you're out completely (you can re-join, but you get removed from the list).

To clean things up (as I suggested before), we should probably dump the list of acolytes into a spoiler tag. It must makes things look a lot cleaner. We could also dump friends in a spoiler tag while we're at it ;).

-I have addressed the issue of inactive posters in the main thread.

-The poll for the official motto will close on the 20th.

-The position of "lawmage" was previously taken by thebluebeetle and he was the clan council representative. Anyone interested in representing the Orzhov in the Clan Council, speak up.

-Determining who would be a good candidate for the Ghost Council would require more activity to decide and an opinion from the other Ghost Council members. The responsibility of maintaining the thread would also be in their hands.
