All this talk of being glad it's Friday...bah! Today's my Tuesday. I had the privelige to work around 13 hours today. Luckily it was a fairly easy 13 hours - I shot a couple VOs and a package and then shot high school football after the 6 o'clock live shot. Hopefully tomorrow will go smoothly as well.

I should be getting a fairly hefty check this week. I clocked in somewhere a little over 28 hours worth of overtime this pay period, meaning my check (before taxes) should be somewhere around 1,400 for the last two weeks. That's only about $500 more than usual
My checks for the next two weeks, though, could be even bigger since I'm now on-call and will have to get up whenever there's a shooting or a fire or whatnot in the middle of the night.

28 hours of Overtime! Lord man, take some time to smell the roses. How's your wife feel about all the time you're putting in? I remember doing the same thing when we were first married and after a while my wife was a little irritated by all the time I spent at the office. Of course she was home alone with a screaming baby at the time so I could not blame her.
Tanis - sounds like Bonfire night was hot! Sorry, I could not help myself.:D
I have a terrific Thai place acrossed the street from where I work. I love their Pad Thai noodles and a dish they call Drunken Noodles. Good stuff.
I'll be heading south in two weeks to visit my brother in laws family, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, over the Thanksgiving Holiday. We haven't seen them in about three years and with his near fatal illness a couple of months back, we are really looking forward to seeing them again. I can't wait to climb Stone Mountain again. It's is an amazing sight and the climb to the top is great exercise and lots of fun.

She doesn't really like it but she knows that the money will help out a lot. She's more upset about the fact that our days off don't coincide (me Tues. & Wed., her Sat. and Sun.).

I've only ever been to Georgia twice, and that was a couple of hour-long layovers on my way from Kansas to Paris/London and back in high school. As for Thanksgiving, I'll probably have to settle for a couple-day-old leftovers as I'll most likely be working all day. From what I hear, though, our holiday pay is triple-time, so it won't be that bad.

AI'm gonna buy a Ravnica booster box, I think. I was going to buy from America (they're about £15 cheaper if you look around, mainly due to the exchange rate), but shipping basically cancels that out, along with the risk of it getting held up forever by Customs. I'll just order it from the UK. Better safe than sorry, and it's a negligible difference anyway. Then to sell any dual lands to make my money back - a friend who collects lands has already offered to buy some off me if I get any.
My brother and I split a box. I got a bunch of common foils and only one dual land - Sacred Foundry. My brother didn't get any duals, though, so I guess I should be happy. My half of the box also contained the only foil rare (though it was some crappy one). He did get some cool Dimir stuff that I'll probably have to try and trade him for sometime.

I see the Kansas Education Board have done it again. You must be so proud, Nathan.
Channel 4 News (the most left-wing news programme in the UK) finished up with the Creation Museum last night. Most of it was thinly-veiled mockery - and well-deserved it was too.
Ooooh yeah. I worked on a story today about local citizens' reaction to how we're being made fun of world-wide. My favorite was a San Francisco paper that had a spoof about how Kansas is wanting to start teaching the theory of "SD" in science classes: Stork Delivery; they also imply that Kansas is now suspending all births because of fear over the avian flu. Hilarious, but embarassing.

I know how you feel. It seems sometimes like the only national press Detroit gets is bad. At least you can laugh about this.

Since we seem to be a puzzle clan, a treat for all of you:
You have to spot the 3 differences in the picture. You need the sound up as well (although not too loud) because some really annoying music comes up halfway through, putting you off even more. Oh, and don't try it at work - it might take you too long, and the music will drive your colleagues mad.
I found 4 differences.
It's hard to see but the woman in the background is actually a orangutan dressed up.
Anyone a Kate Bush fan? She has a new 2 disc album that just went on sale. I'm definitely picking it up this weekend.

I finally got the rest of my birthday presents today. My aunt in TX decided to just give my presents to my grandparents who were visiting her the week after my birthday and it took a while for my parents to get over here and give them to me. I got the new CDs from Disturbed and Fear Factory, a DVD I already have (but saved the receipt for), a cat-shaped bottle of Reisling (interesting...), and 6 new beers for my collection, including one from Peru and one from England called "Hobgoblin Ale." Looking forward to trying them out (and exchanging the DVD for the new Cold CD).

Well, I'd already sampled one of my new birthday beers (one from Japan called Asahi Brewmaster's Select...which was Ok) by then. If I'd had a couple more I probably would have freaked out, but that one beer was fairly weak. I was actually squinting really hard with my face close to the monitor when it got me

My day's been fairly easy so far. I'm on a break right now, actually. There was a car accident a couple blocks from my apartment and our story for the 10 is already edited so I took the opportunity to stop by home and pick up a snack before heading back to work. We covered a story about a lady who found a mammoth bone in her pasture while digging a pond. Fairly interesting stuff.

The only thing I was really happy with out of my half a booster box (that I shared with my brother) was the Sacred Foundry. The place we ordered from also threw in a promo Dimir Guildmage from the release tournament that's a lot cooler than the rest of what I got in the box.

I'm a little hungry. I actually had a nice lunch today - a French onion soup-in-a-sourdough-bread-bowl - but this job still really takes it out of you. I had a handfull of peanut M&Ms out of the vending machine a bit ago but now my stomach's growling at me again. Maybe I'll go back up to the break room and get some Hot Tomales...

On November 13, 2005, Guerrero died in his hotel room in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at the Marriott City Center Hotel. The cause of death according to Hennepin County medical examiners was that he suffered a massive coronary (heart attack).

I'm so saddened by Eddie's passing. I've watched Eddie for so many years now and he has been such a great talent. So much fun to watch in and out of the ring. It's really tragic.
For those who are cursed to be unable to control drugs and alcohol it is so difficult to resist them. The same thing happened to my younger brother and in both cases it seemed they had gotten the help that they needed to overcome thier demons. RIP Eddie.
