Erm...wow. Amazing how quickly we degenerate into a spamfest when sex is involved. I fear that I am quite underage, as well as having religious problems with that. I'll sort those out. Someday. Like, the same day I can say that I will come out and actually DO it, which of course I failed to do. Crap.
Oh, and Canada is interesting in my world cultures class. I would move there, but it's a bit cold for my taste, plus there's the whole underage thing. Being a Los Angeles guy, snow and ice (except for hail, of course) are rather foreign to me. The last time I saw snow was in Palm Springs, which, despite being in the middle of the desert, has a very high mountain range which had about three feet of snow after a record thunderstorm simultaneously refilled our rather dried-out aquifer and caused spontaneous landslides and sinkholes.
I do believe that I've wandered enough for today...

Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.
Basically:
S + T = W
...S in this case stands for 'spam' and the T stands for 'light trolling'. And the W? That stands for 'Warning'. I love math. -- {mikeyG}
False religions? What does he consider a false religion?
I'm semi-Unitarian, is that a false religion?
I'd guess, though, that false religion=religion he isn't.
I don't know. So I'm attacking him on "false religion" and "is not wrong." I told him he can't prove that any religion is "the true religion" and I brought up evidence saying that missionaries destroy cultural diversity.

That reminds me, do you, the gaymers have a problem with the constant use of the word "gay"? Like, even for things totally unrelated, it is just used as a common ill tempered remark. Are you guys offended by it? Personally, I dont see the point in calling something/someone gay rather than "an idiot" or a "douche". I dunno, maybe I'm making a big deal out of nothing... I tend to do that when I am tired.
He can't expect to be taken at his word with a vague statement like that.
For one thing, he needs to state what he thinks makes a religion false.
I mean, human sacrifice to the devil, for example, is one thing.
Non-christianity, to take the opposite extreme, is another.
What makes a religion false to him?
EDIT: @ PurpleD: It sort of bugs me, just because half the time it's inaccurate, and, when it is accurate, it shouldn't be used as an insult. Mind you, calling someone stupid isn't the best either. You don't know their IQ (Not the be-all and end-all of intelligence, but...you get my point.) It's best to say that the remark is silly, or somesuch.
To paraphrase (and plagiarize shamelessly from the Christian doctrine):
Love the sinner person making the remark, hate the sin remark itself.

As I said to goatchunx already... It is hardly fair to say which religions are true and which are false... surely not all of them can be right, and most likely, none of them are right. It is hard to classify intangible things into true and false catergories. Kind of like when people thought the world was flat. We didn't fall over, so that meant it must be flat!!! So in other words, I think stanny boy needs to look "outside the box".
LOL, I guess I just had a sudden burst or Boredom induced immaturity!!!
That IS supposed to look like the guy is sticking his lesson stick in the other guys.... right?
Oh. And calling someone gay is totally gay. It doesn't bother me I guess. Heck I call my straight friends ***s all the time. See I figure if they get offended then there's more to them than I know ;)... nah that's not true. I say it because it's funny. It's not something they expect to hear out of my mouth of all people so when it gets old I'll stop. I say cracker too. I believe in embracing a word until it loses all meaning to me. Call me what you will but I've said it a thousand times more than you so it loses potency and especially it loses power over me.

There are places here that don't even get masively cold. Sure, they aren't tropical in winter by any means, but they're liveable. British Columbia's coast, for example, don't often get insanely cold like the Prairies.
As for gay being used to describe something as a negative: it doesn't bother me. It's only a word. Though my friend uses it to describe everything. That's a bit annoying, if only because his vocabulary is anorexic.
Ah yes, but do YOU ever have 80-degree weather in January? We had one of those days yesterday...and this was of course to MOCK us after it rained during the rose bowl and made a mess of everything. Oh, by the way, have you ever had 104 degree weather in summer? It's really wonderful when you step outside into the FURNACES OF HELL. Not joking here.
On a side note, I am officially addicted to Civ 4. And I love the quotes for the technologies. My favorite is, "When I feed the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why the poor go hungry, they call me a communist."

BC is definately the warmest Place here in Canada, but the Prairies arent "massively cold". We do, on occasion get pretty freezing, but we also have chinooks, which means, for a bout a week, it gets quite a bit warmer. This winter, it has beeen waaaay TOO nice, seeing as we've had maybe a foot of snow ALL winter.
The weather here is WEIRD this year.
We aren't getting anything colder than -10 or so, and that rarely.
I'm used to, like, -30 or more, regularly, after windchill.
hahahaha... im not sure if there is any reason to panic yet... three yearsago it was a bloody warm winter (like, no snow) and it snowed in july and hit -10... so i dont think you should be panicking yet.
@that whole religion thing: no religion is the right or the wrong. when people start believing their religion is the best, you get extremists... and then occasionnaly death.
on that note... what religion are you guys?
personnally im Buddhist. Im big into enlightenment, and the helping of others... so thats my calling.
I was under the impression that winters in the Prairies (especially Saskatchewan and Manitoba) can get bitterly cold. Like -25 to -40 cold. I know about chinooks, but I didn't think they kept you that temperate all winter.
Though I think it's been warmer than usual all season across Canada. We had rain and ten degrees for Christmas. I wore a T-shirt that night. Just a T-shirt. Craziness. And we have yet to have any kind of substantial snow when in previous years we would already have metre-high banks. It's freaking me out.

Yes and yes. Though they are not common occurances (though in areas like Toronto, it's not a big deal to see it hit 40-45 degrees in the peak of summer and BC get 20-25 in winter, it's a bit more rare to see that happen country-wide). It's not as drastically frigid and snowy here as a lot of outsiders think. Although I guess it's all relative. I mean, I find anything over 25-27 far too hot. I'm comfy until about that point. Once you pass 35 (which we do every July and August), I find it stifling.
Well, Occasionally it will get to -40, but usually it doesnt dip down past -20 or so before a chinook happens.
Also, Can any of the gaymers help me revive the new pictures thread?!?! It can be found here. For some reason, lots of people dont like posting pictures.
Well, Occasionally it will get to -40, but usually it doesnt dip down past -20 or so before a chinook happens.
Chinooks only really affect Alberta. The rest of the prairies tends to be bitterly cold, as I'm sure Dorian can tell us. While Calgary tends to get the best exposure to chinooks, which probably skews your perception of winters. Both Winnepeg and Saskatoon have a temperature range between -13 and -24 on average in January, which is insanely cold when compared to the average of even Edmonton where the range is -9 to -20. Those four degrees may not seem like much, but when you're dealing with an average calculated over the course of 40 years, it's pretty significant.
As for the picture thread, I have a strict philosophy when it comes to posting pictures of myself online. I don't do it. Not that I'm embarassed or anything, I just think it's wierd. It always feels as if people are fishing for compliments or something. They may not be, but that just how it comes across for me.
And I don't do religion, either. Though if I did, it'd probably be Judaism. I love the Jews. I just wouldn't follow most of their rules. Or take part in most of their traditions. I'd be a quasi-jew. Which I feel negates the purpose, so I don't bother.

But I AM fishing for compliments... just kidding. I actually just like to know what people look like instead of their avatars.
I'm not really a strict christian or anything, but christianity is my religion. My parents are catholic, and I have always found catholic churches very "pain driven" and are always talking about how bad we are compared to Jesus. I've certainly come up with some of my own philosophies, after reading influential books like "The Alchemist" and "The pilgrimmage".
In mtgs-related news, I'm about to go join the ranks of Topher and his shop...on Monday.
In things that matter-related news, my term paper is due pretty soon...like tomorrow. I'm feeling way too lazy to finish it
