This song goes out to all you haters, from Tawnos!
Desert loving in your eyes all the way.
If I listen to your lies would you say
I'm a man without conviction,
I'm a man who doesn't love Kokusho
how to sell a contradiction.
You come and go, you come and go.
Kama kama kama kama kama gawa block,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red white blue black and green, red white blue black and green.
Don't hear your wicked akuba every day
and you used to be so sweet, I heard you say
that my love was an addiction.
When we cling our love is strong.
When you go you're gone forever.
You string along, you string along.
Kama kama kama kama kama gawa block,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red white blue black and green, red white blue black and green.
Every day is like survival,
you're my lover, not my rival.
Every day is like survival,
you're my lover, not my rival.
I'm a man without conviction,
I'm a man who doesn't know
how to sell a contradiction.
You come and go, you come and go.
Kama kama kama kama kama gawa block,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red white blue black and green, red white blue black and green.
Kama kama kama kama kama gawa block,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red white blue black and green, red white blue black and green.
Kama kama kama kama kama gawa block,
you come and go, you come and go.
Loving would be easy if your colours were like my dream,
red gold and green, red gold and green. (fade)
That may have been one of the most comical exchanges of Magic theory I have ever read! You guys are great at debating politely!:p
I have been playing standard forever and I can't wait for Mirrodin to rotate out because it has created the most annoying, thoughless, mundane decks know to the game. Thank god Affinity was cut down long ago, but Tooth and Nail has got to be the most annoying deck to run and run against since the beginning of Magic. I mean....you know what's coming, you know how to beat it, but you have to rely on the draw to stop them and when your deck slips just a bit you hate yourself for losing to that piece of crap that a 5 year old can master!
Sorry for that...I feel better know!

Legato: Your resume sounds decent, but, you have 45 posts in a year. That's just..not enough to be in The Called, IMO. But, that's just me, I'm really picky about new applicants.
Well i started off signing up here for the spoliers and then after a few sets i started posting. I am a hugely active member of most foums i join(but not a spammer) And i am making my own avatar at the moment with photoshop, if you would like i can make you one as well.
thanks for considering me... i would be honored to join your ranks
(edit) i cant seem to get my sig picture to show up it keeps comming up as a link if any of you could help me i would be much obliged
Legato - You need to make sure your sig is enclosed with tags. You also need to make sure that when you input in the web address it does not automatically convert itself to a url. This usually happens when you cut/paste the address. Try just typing in the address by hand.
Jonny - I will not shed a tear when Mirrodin rotates out. The block was fun for about two weeks, and then grew quite stale.
To this day I'm still trying to figure out Wizards logic of creating a five color theme as the last set in an artifact block. Never made too much sense for me.
I love TGS!! Hell....that whole site is awsome!:D:D
I almost got a foil Overgrown Tomb for $25 until the store manager came over and stopped the transaction!!! DAMN!! Ebayin it!!
THIS THREAD IS NO PLACE FOR A MIGHTY WARRIORRRRR!!!!! :samus3:

Samus is the bomb, I hate that they turned the Metroid games into FPS(I really dislike FPS games).
Why did the store manager stop the transaction..that's really weak..if that's the price that the card was marked at, they need to honor that price...lame-ass business practices.
i was about to get 4 Welders 4 Smokestacks and 1 Foil Pernicious Deed for 2 Verdant Forces but i realised my friend really needed the welders and stacks so i let him have them worst decision EVER along with selling my foil squee for crap
The price they had was for the non-foil version....they were in the same sleeve on the page....he noticed. Its kinda my fault for hesitating and just not buying when he was occupied by another customer.
Oh well....I'll know better next time.

That is still a very unhonorable business practice. That damages customer trust and confidence in the business. If you were my customer I would have honored the sale.
When I was 18 I was working for Champs Sporting Goods. One day an older woman came into the store to purchase a hat for her son. The exact hat escapes me, but in was a very popular hat at the time, and our store was absolutely stocked with them. I kid you not we must have had eight or nine rows of this particular hat. (If you've ever been inside a Champs store you'll understand what I mean by stocked. At times Champs can be the Costco of sporting wear.)
Anways, this lady actually sits down and stats going row by row through the hats. Slightly puzzled, I walked over and asked her if she needed assistance finding a particular size. "No, I'm looking for a cheaper price." After about the fourth or fifth row she finally finds a hat, priced about $2 less than it should have been, stands up and proudly proclaims she will be buying this hat!
She threw such a fit when I refused to sell it to her. For a second I thought she might drop down to the floor, and start rolling around crying while she beat her fists on the ground.
Sure my decision was partly due to being a prick at age 18, but I also refused to sell the hat because I felt she was purposely trying to cheat our business. Not only in regards to the price of the hat, but also for my time paid to sit around a monitor her while she searched, and also to clean up the mess she left behind.
Long story short (too late) the manager comes in, finds the woman throwing a fit, and sells it to her at the reduced price. I was then written up for my refusal to sell. I was told that if the customer reported us to the better business bureau we could actually be fined.
Moral of the story is don't eat potato chips while lying in bed.
I talk to just about all of you in the lounge, but thought it may be about high time to apply for freindship.
Yes i read the first page, and you don't have freinds.
So i'll apply as um a person who posts here sometimes legally even though he has another clan!
YES!

My good freind once said:

Not to degrade women, just proving the point that it takes a special kind of someone to be able to tolerate crumbs in bed...
Laika, do you run Master Warcraft in your build? That card is sweet! Ended up purchasing a bunch for like $.50 per, based on a hunch that this card might crop up in a few tournament decks.
I almost missed this edit, but I've got almost every card to do just about anything I want with the deck, as I like to test all possible solutions to my issues, and I have three Master Warcraft, one of which is foil. In the current build of the deck (believe me, I'm trying some out-there things,) it's not quite ideal, but just looking at it when it first came out, the fact that it could be an instant-speed one-sided *** made me a happy camper.
I do need to get two more Samurai of the Pale Curtain, as much as I hate the block he's from, it's not like my deck is going to grab anything out of the yard, and it makes Dredge pretty pointless.
Just a bragging point: I do have a foil Lightning Helix in there too... Yaaaay.
Damn Tawnos that song was bad. It would have been funnier without all the repetition, and if there were a few more Magic references in it. I smiled a couple times early on, then ended up skimming to the end and crying.
As for their being 25 or so playable cards in Kamigawa block, yes, if you're talking block decks. BLOCK! You can't play Rend Flesh or Terashi's Grasp (huh???) in Legacy. And in a block deck, of COURSE there are going to be 25 playable cards. There has to be! You can't make decks without at least that many different cards! My point is, even in a block filled with 1/10 crap useless cards (2/4s with no abilities for 6 mana), at least 25 of those cards are going to end up being played in block tournaments. Which of the cards on that list are commonly played in Type 2? Which of them will be played in Type 2 when RAV rotates in? Probably half of them. Anyway, even if there were 50 playables in Kamigawa block, which there weren't, it would still be the least playable block in years. You can't argue your way out of that. It sucked hairy, dirty, lint-covered, sweaty, old fat man nipples.
And those are some of the worst.
Yes I'm feeling marginally better. I actually slept 7 hours last night, yay! I woke up drenched in freezing cold sweat and the entire bed was full of it. That's never happened to me before. I coughed and gagged up a ton of junk again, but after a nice hot shower I'm feeling at least alive. Better than the last 3 days have been! And hopefully the shipment arrives today. Curtis is on his way down here from Vancouver this afternoon and he's gonna want to open packs when he gets here. Plus I'm tired of lying around being sick and useless, like nipples on men. I want to be useful, like nipples on, well, girls! Very useful, mmmm.
So anyway... what were we saying?
No offense to anyone, but why do people keep trying to apply to be a friend if we don't have friends? We have a large, active clan and we don't need extra people. I'm sorry (or maybe I'm not?) but we just don't do half clan members. You're in or you're out, amiright?
When I open good cards, should I bother mentioning it here? Or should I just take a picture of my 10+ foil Putrefies and post it here when I'm done?
Damn Tawnos that song was bad. It would have been funnier without all the repetition, and if there were a few more Magic references in it. I smiled a couple times early on, then ended up skimming to the end and crying.
Everyones a critic! Twas' two in the morning, and the song was from Culture Club, whaddya expect? You try rhyming that dang song. I found a spot for Kokusho, but couldn't find anything that rhymed with "conviction."
As for their being 25...*snip*
Blah..Blah...Blah...Bought a crapload of boxes to sell as singles...yada...yada..yada...set didn't sell...grumble...grumble...grumble...10% off all Kamigawa block...yackity smackity...
That about sum up your thoughts? Your opinion doesn't count on this one R_E, no matter how logical you may present them. You're biased. :tongue2: Even though you should agree with me, just for the sake of trying to boost sales. Work with me here brother.
When I open good cards, should I bother mentioning it here? Or should I just take a picture of my 10+ foil Putrefies and post it here when I'm done?
Well, you said it yourself, Kamigawa sucks and didn't sell very well! I still have tons of it! I'm not upset about that, I can't make it worth more, or be more desireable. I'm moving on... and celebrating a good block finally.
Anyhow you don't like foils, remember?
BTW Tawnos there are like 40 or so font tags in your post... what gives?
/me nods and agrees with Kristina *
Yeah, 16. Mmmhmmmmm.
I didn't realize there were so many tags. All I do is quote, select all, and then modify the font. Hrmph.
I don't like playing with foils.
I'm not saying the block was awesome. I'm just saying it wasn't all bad. You will never, ever here me argue that it is better than Ravnica block, or superior to Mirrodin in terms of power.
I love the integration Ravnica has between flavour and the cards themselves. When I first got glimpses of some of the cards, it just felt so right. Something really clicks... and not to mention the cards are all properly costed! And in some cases, they're cheap. I still can't believe blue gets a grizzly bear. And you can splash black into the cost if you want. Plus it has two good abilities and it's a Wizzie. That's just wrong! In Kamigawa it would have been legendary and 6/4 for 6. The mechanics (although I don't much like radiance) are well done. The themes of the guilds are good. I love the block design, and 4/3/3. And I LOVE the old school fantasy feel. Brings me back to the early days, sortof... but the cards are much better done.
I'm always lurking... I'm like the Shadow of nerdy hobby sites.
Anyways. I've been busy playing Ultimate Spider Man, and I'm heading out in mere moments to go to the Kayo Dot show tonight. This is for me, what seeing the Pink Floyd reunion would be like for most people.
The only way it could be better is if they were still Maudlin of the Well... but alas, this cannot be.
Radiance isn't bad, but I do feel it could have benefited from a few more card slots. I believe it only appears on ten cards, the fewest of all the guild mechanics. Hard to get a proper feel for the mechanic with so few cards available.
I'm actually starting to really dig Convoke. There is more of a strategy element to it than I first expected.
Radiance is awful. It helps your opponents guys, which, considering the color-sharing in this format, is a tremendous drawback. It's also a purely combat-related mechanic, which is a huge mark against it, IMO.
I think Convoke is probably better than Radiance, but only just..Convoke spells automatically start out costing more than they should, just because you can make them cheaper. Vitu-Ghazi, the City Tree does have nice synergy with a WG Convoke deck, though...especially with Hour of Reckoning. It won't surprise me to see a :symw::symg::symu: Counterpost-variant rear it's head in Block later on in the format.
That having been said, the glaring difference in power level between these two mechanics and then transmute and dredge is just pathetic..tutoring and recursion are infinitely more abusable than radiance or convoke have any hope of being.
I voted for option #2. It seemed like the most political thing to do, and at least gives people the illusion that they could actually get into The Called.
I do need to get two more Samurai of the Pale Curtain, as much as I hate the block he's from, it's not like my deck is going to grab anything out of the yard, and it makes Dredge pretty pointless.
Just a bragging point: I do have a foil Lightning Helix in there too... Yaaaay.
