It concerns me that Depp is obviously channeling some serious Jackson mojo if the previews are anything to go by. It all just seems so ..... wrong. Gene Wilder may have been creepy but I never pictured him trying to have slumber parties with the children. Deep's Wonka? Yeah, major molester vibes. Ew. Thumbs down.
The thing is, in Dahl's novel, Wonka was far creepier than in Gene Wilder's movie. Depp is gorgeous, and I think he fits the role--the role written by Roald Dahl--perfectly.
Incidentally, in Entertainment Weekly(or Newsweek?), it was noted that Gen Wilder dislikes the film. Roald Dahl's widow, however, enjoyed it; she thought it was far more true to the book.
Wonka's supposed to be creepy, I know. But Depp made him the wrong kind of creepy, to me. Plus it strikes me that Depp and Jackson are essentially interchangable in the role. As muuch as I'll love seeing the movie, I'll be deeply disturbed the whole time wondering when Wonka's gonna flash the kids his Oompa Loompa.
And Depp looks gross. Seriously. He's cool and all (though way pretentious), but he's a total uggmo. Case in point. And those girls know their fug.
Roald Dahl's widow, however, enjoyed it; she thought it was far more true to the book.
And yes...Depp is gorgeous.
She would enjoy it as she bankrolled some of it and has an executive producer credit. Additionally she ordered the original British trailer pulled for revealing too much of the plot. They had to go back and completely re edit.
My Girlfreind designed the Roald Dahl Museam and Story Centre which has just opened in his home village. The costs of that development are partly being met by the film.

Straight guys just think they like lesbians, if they piss you off just remind them that kind of the definition of a lesbian is someone who doesn't want to sleep with them!
[Edit: Me and my non-penis like genitalia are going to bed now. Nighty-night you *AHEM*ing Gaymers!]
I should probably drop in since I don't seem to be on the members list anymore, at all. I never said I was completely leaving Salvation....
Anyway.
I know I said I don't like reading long, drawn-out posts, but I'm going to be somewhat of a hypocrite here. However, since I won't be posting much at all anymore I think it's somewhat acceptable to post a few paragraphs on how life is going and updateds on stuff (doing it every once in a while is one thing, doing it all the time is another). So here we go:
Between last Wendesday and today me and Kevin have spent tons and tons of time together. We're perfect for eachother, and I love him very, very dearly (as he does me, too). We spent alot of time adventuring and doing alot of firsts together. Our room's emptiness is starting to disappear as we gain our personal items and make it feel more at home. Classes started this last Monday and I believe they'll be awesome. So Monday was the first day of classes. Laster that afternoon I started not feeling good, and then that night started having to hold back from throwing up. I didn't want Kevin to be worried, but I didn't succeed too well. I'll admit it, I don't hide being sick that well. I don't get sick often, but when I do you know it. Anyway so I stayed home on Tuesday. I need to set up a thing so I can bypass Computer Lit., which I was going to do then but didn't get around to. I tried to email Maria but she said to email someone else, so then I emailed them and they said I needed to contact someone else at Admissions. I didn't get around to doing that today, so I'm going to go in at noon tomorrow when Kevin's classes start and see about the test and everything and go from there.
Today I woke up and still wasn't feeling well, and Kevin was feeling as bad as I was. So we both ended up staying home today. Most importantly, Today was me and Kevin's 4 month anniversary. We spent it cuddling. Yesterday Kevin's computer got here so we rearranged things a little bit so that our desks are by eachothers. We got on our computers and messed around. He started downloading the entire collection of Invader Zim episodes on Bit Torrent at amazing speeds, and then we watched the new episode of Family Guy. Eventually we went to check the mail and my TV had arrived. We had quite an adventure trying to get it up here. We eventually got it and stowed away the boxes and got everything hooked up. We played MK: Deception for a bit, then played Soul Calibur 2. He kicked my ass at SC2 while I kicked his at MK:D, but then we started making out on the floor where the TV is temporarily. We did other things but if you expect me to go into detail about that you're inconceivably foolish. So we laid around more and then did some more computering and around 7 decided we'd go have dinner like we planned on. We went to Rocko's Bar & Grill. It was really good. We planned on going there since last week because cheeseburgers are Kevin's favorite thing to eat, and one of mine. It was really nice. Now here we are back up here. Mom and Grandma just called to check up on me as they do every night. I really don't have any complaints about it. If they didn't I'd start to really miss them, to be perfectly honest. In the next few days Kevin will have me trying out WoW and DDR, and I might get him to test some of my Doom maps or something, or even show him how to make maps. We have a lot more movies to watch and plan on seeing War of the Worlds on Friday. We've also got more games to play, too We were going to watch a movie today but didn't get around to it, unfortunately. You could say I'm typing for both of us now He's too lazy to do this and has to do homework. Maybe I should make a new LJ account thats both of ours I'm also lazy, though... Oh snap! How'd this turn out to be so long?! Bah!
Alright, I'm done now. I'm sure I've skipped several things, but it's all in my head full of wonderful memories.
Good one, Goatchunx, you snagged yourself a lurker (with an assist from me, of course [/joke arrogance])! How's it feel?
I'm rather indifferent actually. Nice Klien bottle in the avvy.
Xenphire: That's odd, it was not my intention to remove you at all. I will change that after this post. Very odd. Anyway, Evil_Homestereo's been gone and I didn't remove him.
I have no problem with gay women. Gayness of any kind is fine by me. Except of course, the Christopher Lowell brand of gayness. Holy shisnit he is the most flambouyant homosexual on the face of God's green Earth.
Help has come in the form of a bit of basic algebra. I feel that it'll shed some light on your problem here.
Basically:
S + T = W
...S in this case stands for 'spam' and the T stands for 'light trolling'. And the W? That stands for 'Warning'. I love math. -- {mikeyG}

Most flambouyant? Meet BobbyTrendy. I hate him. Shut up, Bobby Trendy.
I refuse to love every homosexual on earth simply because they're gay. I have a dislike for as may homosexuals as heterosexuals, actually. If you're a dumbass or a complete ass, I'm not going to like you, gay or not.

I agree. I'm just saying that I tolerate it as being totally legitimate. It would be pretty hypocritical for me to not be tolerant. I dislike most people actually. Sexual orientation is no object when it comes to somebody being a good person. I hate flambouyant heterosexuals just the same. "I wanna bone some biatches right now." I mean come on, what is that s**t???
Your name has been restored to the title page, Xen. Sorry about that, nothing personal or circumstantial, just a mistake.

Goatchunx: Thanks I thought it was probably a mistake.
Mikey: Loving every homo on earth is kinda the stereotype it seems we get :/ But not so much love as we have to screw every other gay guy we see. But alot of people confuse "love" with "I wanna **** you like an animal" (/nin fanboy reference). It's a bad stereotype but unfortunately theres alot of gay (and even bi) guys like that. Me, I could never imagine having sex with or loving anyone other than Kevin the way I do him. I'm a purist when it comes to relationships
Anyways, hope with some of my comments I haven't come off sounding like a jerk. I'm just really busy with life and occupied with other things. I did kinda get annoyed coming here and seeing gigantic posts by Blue repeatedly because I don't have time to read those kind of posts. The post I made above is actually mostly pasted from my LiveJournal. I pasted it to my Xanga since my friends have a community there, as well. Anyways I suppose I shouldn't complain. If I can't keep up with things, that's my own problem.
@Xen/Hobbit- Congrats on the anniversary! 4 months...that's awesome. The power of the internet!
As for relationships, I encounter the promiscuous stereotype every day...it's sad how many people think that gay guys just run around ****ing each other all day and night and then all day again...

Heh. I hate hypocrites. Mostly cuz I hate it when I do something hypocritical myself. There's a difference though between being hypocritical and just changing your opinion. What you believe now might be completely wrong and you just need someone (yourself or otherwise) to open your eyes to it. I can't say that I hate the flambouyant gays now. I mean I've known some and they are really nice. It's hard at first to get past their flames but deep down there's usually something there. Of course a LOT of the flaming guys are just not realy people at all *rolls eyes*
But again, I have to try to get past their flames as much as some of my friends have to get past my constant sexual innuendos.
Xen: Y'all play sissy games! MK O_o. That better be old school SNES MK or I'll be sadly disappointed.

Well... it's not that gay guys have the stereotype... it's that GUYS have the stereotype. You know that saying, I think it's been posted in here before on one of those threads, "When it's two guys there's no one to say no."
So... I can sorta see where it comes from but I also don't agree with judging a person before you get to know them. (And I can't say it's better not to judge at all cuz that's dangerous)
The thing I can't get over is the celebrity gay people. They make it out to be suuuuch a big deal and it's really not. It's not a big deal and yet, they get so much press about it. I know they have reputations to uphold or whatever, but seriously, it would be a lot easier for the rest of us if they'd just shut UP about themselves!

Blargh, one of my friends is moving to Chicago, apparently. If anybody sees him, he's around 300 lbs and tall. Can't miss him
Hehe. Chicago seems to be a popular place these days eh? I must visit sometime too!
Xen: I wasn't really talking about promiscuity, I was talking about the wierd notion heteros have in their heads that all gay people love each other and get along just because we're all gay. Like when my sister tried to get me to hang out with her gay friends because we'd get along "you know, cuz of the whole gay thing." Obviously not an accurate train of thought. But nevertheless one I encounter all too often.
I don't like how promiscuity somehow has a bad connotation nowadays. Like "Oh, don't go near him, he's promiscuous!". Like it's a gross disease or something. It was happening all the time back in the seventies, everyone loved it. Now, it's bad if you're not all in love and doing the monogamy thing.

God yes. Ellen Degeneres much? I mean, I love her, she's funny as hell, but she(Rosie, others) make such a big deal about being gay that people get the idea that our sexuality is our identity---that being gay is who we are. Very annoying...
Xen: Y'all play sissy games! MK O_o. That better be old school SNES MK or I'll be sadly disappointed.
MK: Deception. Puzzle Kombat > All. If I still had MK Trilogy for the PS1 and had my PS2 here I'd be playing it. Ultimate MK3 is one of my all time favorite games.
1. Sonic 3 & Knuckles (aka Sonic 3 + Sonic & Knuckles)
2. Doom 3
3. Ultimate MK3
4. Doom 1
5. Doom 2
6. Mortal Kombat: Deception
7. Diablo II
8. Ristar (old Sega Genesis game)
9. Yoshi's Island (1 & 20
10. Super Smash Bros. Melee
Of course I absolutely love all 10 of those games, so it's not in a particular order, bu S3&K is defifnitely #1.

Holy crap! That's exactly what I mean! I mean I'm gay, but that doesn't define who I am. I'm Micah and I just happen to like guys instead of girls. It's like saying, I like vanilla over chocolate. Not cuz either one is better, just cuz that's the way it is. You can't change it but I'm also not forcing the idea on you that vanilla is better. (Chocolate is way better btw!)

I dunno Mike. I'm not the kind of person that says, "You're a ho-bag and that means I can't hang out with you." I mean two of my friends are sooo sexually active it's insane. One of them has had sex with almost 200 people already. But he's one of my best friends. I am still concerned for their health of course, but I'm not going to stop being his friend. However if he starts dressing up with mesh hose and wears a tube top trying to make people pay for sex... well I'll laff my arse off but I'll still try to convince him it's a bad idea.
All the while, a person that outwardly projects that kind of image on purpose (as is the case in that vivid adaptation of real life, above) then it's obviously going to be a detractor for me when choosing whether or not to approach someone with the intent of friendship.
Though, I've seen people like that before. I will probably have a conversation with them anyways. I guess the only thing I'm a ho at is making friends
