Because the Nihilith is 4/4 and can actually block if it needs to. Furthermore it comes into play with haste (since it is always played from suspend). Also, Nihilith is not the card you sacrifice, you sacrifice either bloodghast or nether spirit, since they are recursive and then keep beating face with the nihilith. I also find nether traitor to be too mana intensive for a deck that does not have access to a lot of mana. If Nihilith is suspended and you resolve a pox that takes 7 life away (and roughly 4 time counters on average) and then discard either a nether spirit or a bloodghast, your opponent will usually have a hard time.
True but nether traitor is a great jitte holder. he can get in a few points of damage and get the counters on to gain you life or what ever you need to use the counters for at the time. they loose 1 and you gain 4 every turn on top or damage from pox effects. their aren't many creatures with shadow around now to block him.

There's not much that'll get in the way of fear either. Hell at this point I think the entirety of that list is Dark Confidant and Germ Token. Now, in the event you don't have a Jitte, there's a rather big difference between a 3 turn clock and a 12 turn clock.
That mention about tokens makes me think of Bitterblossom, do you think it would be worth swapping the bloodghasts for bitterblossoms or maybe swap The Rack? I think it might make sense to swap Cursed Scroll with Contamination so I would have the option of bringing in a lock versus control decks instead if I chose to play bitterblossom.
Well... I'm a junior Computer engineering student that works close to full time in a biometrics research lab. I also spend Sundays watching football, the treasurer of my fraternity, and have a full time girlfriend (she hates that joke). I don't have that much time. In fact, a breakdown is:
168 hours in a week:
62 hours working on homework/projects/exam studying in a computer lab
29 hours working in the research lab for work
18 hours of class (6.5 hours monday wednesday, 5 hours friday)
41 hours sleeping (5 hours a night on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends)
**The only reason I have this is because my friends didn't believe how much I do spend doing stuff, so I walked around with a journal 2 weeks ago.. was kind of fun, I plan to keep doing it and put together some breakdown to show my friends and family**
Don't take this as a complaint I just have a lot of things I wanna do and watching a tv show isn't the highest on my list.
I do plan to watch at least a little for winter break when I go home super excited, my professor gave me the full break off!! (last year I went home for Dec 20-Jan 4th because I had to work on a project to present at a biometrics convention for funding)
Each episode is only 90 minutes so just cut down one the Football watching (I take we are talking NFL not soccer, if it is soccer just cut it out completely :D) or reduce your sleep by 90 mins a night for week there are only 6 episodes at the moment after all.

Do you guys play any MMOs? Or any online game for that matter? I'm just wondering if there's a chance we've crossed paths anywhere outside of MTGS.
Right now I only play League of Legends and The Secret World. I used to play City of Heroes, but NCSoft shut that one down.
Used to play World of Warcraft. Was in there for quite a while, but haven't played the past two expansions. Tried The Secret World during a free-play weekend. Seemed like a good idea, but not something I felt like getting into at the time.
Been playing a lot of Borderlands 2, but I've yet to play a single multiplayer session with it.

That made me chuckle. Maybe I'll try to watch the series over thanksgiving then :-p

I play GW2 and League of Legends (EUW), occasionally I play Heroes of Newerth and Dota 2 as well. Once played WoW, I stopped in the middle of WotLK though. I have played several other MMO's too, but I stopped after a couple of weeks due to the fact that they were boring.

MMOs definitely don't appeal to everyone. Sometimes it feels like a single player game that other people can watch you play.
The opposite end of that is League of Legends, where you are forced to team with others. If your teammates screw up, it affects your ability to do well. I'm curious, do you find the EU community to be pretty toxic? The honor system and tribunal have cleaned things up, but I feel like the people who play LoL are in general very nasty to other players.

If you have played the original DOTA and HoN, you would find the LoL community to be very nice and caring in comparison. I am almost certain that HoN got the worst online community in the world. But I do encounter toxic behaviour on EUW, more than the ordinary since I do tribunal cases (mind you, I encouter this in the tribunal), which makes it feel like there are more toxic players since I keep remembering the cases. I stopped playing ranked games because I grew tired of the flaming. Often I get flamed in normal games because I jungle/support in 95% of the normal games I play and everyone knows it is one of those two players fault, because **** logic! Generally I am not flamed though, since I am good at those two roles, but I am best on the mid lane, I only get to play that lane when I play with friends though.

Can't say I have. I find them too boring. I tried playing some ages ago but never got into the genre.

This is why I can't play them. They are too boring. Not involved in a story enough for me. I like extremely detailed stories to draw my attention. Hell, I've been known to turn down invitations to play in some D&D games because they were simple, dungeon delving expeditions. No story No showy.

You should probably give The Secret World a try, then, to be honest. They're very big on the story for an MMO. Once I get home, I can get you a link for a free trial.
I do, however I'm gonna be writing myself out of the current campaign I'm in. I just cannot abide the chewing habits of a couple people in the group, and food inevitably happens at those things. And yes, I do specifically mean chewing habits.

I can completely understand. Seriously. If you're chewing, you should be chewing. Not talking and chewing. Not breathing through your mouth and chewing. Not displaying your meal as you are chewing. Not spitting food all over my table and chewing.
Just ****ing chewing.

My mother was not brought up in a chewing-conscious family. This has put some strain on my relationship there.
Her mother will habitually use the motion of talking to chew. My grandpa on that side is fine, but this is a primary reason why I've visted them exactly once in the last decade (and that visit included my parents and a family friend from India). During about four of those years I lived within a two hour drive of them.

GW2 actually shines in the story department, which is why I find it very interresting, I am not saying you should go spend a whole lot of money on trying a game you might end up disliking, since you seem to not like genre. GW2 does include some farming to raise your level so you can continue into your own personal story (which varies depending on your choices in the personal story, the background you gave when you started the character and race you have chosen to play), so in that aspect it is like every other MMO, but it is quite different gameplay-wise.

Actually my Magic LGS is also my D&D store. I was thinking about checking out his DnD night since I switched to mornings and get out of work at a decent time now. I have played paper DnD since I was 12(now 22) and have been the DM most of that time only playing a pc in 1 campaign.
3x Overgrown Tomb
1x Steam Vents
1x Blood Crypt
2x Thragtusk

2x Temple Garden
1x Each of the 5 guild prerelease cards
3x Loxodon Smiter
1x Foil Jarad's Order
1x Wurmcoil Engine
1x Deathrite Shaman
1x Box of RTR that ive have yet to go grab for some reason. already paid for and shtuff
And i finnaly broke into standard going to start requesting days off every month to go play some fnm. i figure why not
EDIT: May I also request my title to be Disiple of the Order of "THE ORDER"?
Nah no thanks. You can keep your nerd thug tactics. It is ridiculous that I cant trade MY cards using MY databased list which is easy to update and manage. The mod community here is the terrible, virtual MTG brownshirt club.
Oh wow, I didn't know so many of you played. That's awesome. Just throwing out hypothetical situations here, but wouold anyone be interested in a CMB campaign done online? I have a few side stories that I wouldn't mind throwing out there.
I am such a story addict. I remember one time when I first started playing D&D, my friend was our DM. He had started a campaign but then decided to cancel it once it was underway. I couldn't leave it unfinished because I am addicted to stories and plots, so he passed it on to me and I fleshed out the world and the story far beyond what he started. Literally it went from hunting down a runaway knight to the newer, younger generation of leaders battling it out for the fate of the world. Oh the conversations I would have with him because I wanted to know what it all meant and he said it was just an adventure. I then started to play random adventures and make up a story and try to force that story on the group. Shortly after, I stopped playing missions without an overarching story.
Im currently playing one now (on pause due to school, picking it up during winter break) where I am a Beguiler. Fun to play, but since I misfocused him on being a social rogue and not optimizing his Enchantments and Illusions, he is kind of suffering right now. Still, very fun to play. My friend is doing a 2nd one soon too, and if the level is high enough, I might give a Daggerspell Mage a run. They seem fun and dangerous as hell.
I'd be down for an online campaign! As you can see, I'm quite the story addict myself (keep in mind these are unfinished, though). Hell, the main reason I play MMOs has been for the roleplay, not the gameplay.

Ugh...now I'm going to want to read that.....and I have a big paper to work on. This is why i say I'm addicted because its going to affect my life.:p
I began writing out my story for my D&D campaign. I ended up putting it on hold due to a lack of time. If I didnt have a massive paper due this month, I would use the November Novel Writing Month to get it accomplished.
Hi gents, I'm running the Clan Mafia contest at the moment, and your representative Tordeck has been suspended for two weeks. In an attempt to keep the game moving, I was wondering if any of you would be so good as to replace in for him.
If none of you are interested, then I'll have to find someone outside of the clan, which would mean you'd get no points for the contest, which would be a shame. The game can't really afford to sit around for a fortnight and wait for him to come back.
