Build your own standard entails you picking two blocks and one core set and building a deck from those.
Also, for future note, could everyone bold their vote so as I scan and tally them up, it will be easier to spot.
No but I linked to it anyways because it was so fitting. We can try, but we can barely get a wiki project off the ground
I made my pick's bold for future use.
Yes we don't have the wiki up and running yet but we also have just gotten the new thread up and have yet to choose preators and librarian. In due time we will be at full power. when that time comes the wiki will be written and then we can move onto other endeavors such as a personal bible.

I'm probably going to push to get the wiki project off the ground during my winter break from school. I got 7 weeks off. If it weren't for a massive psychology paper due this month I would have done it by now. Then again, I see no immediate rush to get it done this week.:p
I would love to try BYOS, but to be honest, it would take a bit too much time for me to piece a deck together right now with my school load, so I had to not vote that for now.
So in other news, has anyone else seen the BBC's "Sherlock"? I power streamed all 6 episodes today and I must say, it is spectacular.

Now you have the same problem the rest of us have. Working out how the bloody hell did Holmes Survive that. AS a third series has been commissioned. Unfortunatly it has been delayed as the pair of them, Holmes and Watson, are busy in New Zealand doing stuff on the Hobbit.

Easy. Or should I say: Elementary.
Rabid Fan Pressure Plot Device
This episode of Sherlock is based on The Final Problem, one of the original short stories in which, at the Reichenbach Falls, Holmes and Moriarty die by falling off a ledge. Conan Doyle did this for a number of reasons, chief among them was to give the himself time to do other things with his life, but also because Moriarty was such a villain to topple that anything afterwards would appear trivial by comparison. The conclusion of the story was extremely concrete. Conan Doyle gave Sherlock the blazing glory kind of death and left damn little to question, but his fans put so much pressure on him that he resurrected Sherlock. I'm not sure, but I believe this was the very first instance of retcon.
Honestly, I don't care what kind of contrived explanation they try to pull to justify Holmes surviving that fall. I know I'm not going to believe it, but it doesn't matter. I didn't believe the original resurrection either; but I've accepted it under that blanket suspense of disbelief that fiction works are entitled to.
Then again, I don't think this was the kind of explanation you were looking for.

"[Screw] you and the green you ramped in on." - My EDH battle cry. If I had one. Which I don't.
Was this your first encounter with Holmes or had you read/watched any previously?
I read a few of the short stories AGES ago. I own a book of the novels and short stories. I plan to read them (reread a couple, reading most for the first time) over my winter break when my face isn't buried in counseling books. I've also watched the RDJ movies which has wanted me to get back into the stuff (I know i ts not as cannon as the others, but I look at them as separate entities. Still good though). Does watchingHouse religiously sort of count? I think it does
Same here read a couple of them when I was younger but the only one I could really remember was Hound of the Baskervilles. The Jeremy Brett series of Holmes is still repeated a lot over here in the UK so I have a reasonable grounding in what goes on but this was the first Sherlock Series I religiously watched.
Dechs: Yeah that was not exactly the kind of response I was looking for as it boils down to Doyle did it so Gatiss and Moffat had to do it. Granted with the original version where Holmes and Moriaty fight at Reichenbach fales in Switzerland it is easier to fluff Holmes surviving here with it being in a more public area it is harder to pull off.

Well, in the original Holmes "never really falls" in the first place, so I'm assuming they'll do something like "He had the morgue lady dress up a corpse that he could throw over the building, so he never actually fell."
And somehow it was accurate enough to fool everybody.
I had a quick look on the Wikipedia page for the series and they aren't revealing that much just that they have changed a few things particularly with Watson's reaction to the big reveal.
I would be surprised if the air turned a little blue or there is an imprint of Watson's knuckles on Holmes face.

With all this Sherlock talk it reminds me that I've been told to watch the series about 30 times now. I've always been a giant fan of the books!
Also due to the possibles of spoilers I've skipped reading the last couple pages and I'm going to ask that everyone remember what the spoiler tags are for (just in case)

That actually makes sense, since he did go and talk to her before. The only issue I have with it was Watson watching the whole thing. I actually was thinking of the a similar thing as I was watching it, having him dress up Moriarty's corpse.

If I remember correctly, didn't Watson faint in the books? He should so flip out instead. I always thought that was a more appropriate and fitting idea.

Now that I think about it, while he was on the phone, Sherlock did tell Watson not to come any closer. Maybe he was counting on sub-optimal eyesight. After he fell, it could have been easy to have a pre-selected crowd from his homeless network to crowd the scene. Morgue lady could have organized EMTs to spirit away the corpse quickly. Keep in mind, there have already been two faked deaths in this series (both in the same episode). Then Watson took a blow to the head on his way over, which could have been orchestrated beforehand, further distorting his perception.
It's still awkwardly contrived and I hate it and I'll still watch the next season.

Either Gatiss or Moffat revealled that we had seen everything needed to work out what the trick is but that no one had managed to work it out yet. I haven't heard anything that has said that someone had worked it out so I don't think that it is something that simple.

Well, well, well... More Sherlock is a good thing, I watched all the previous episodes so I am looking forward to it. (I have read the entire collection os Sherlock Holmes stories in their original English too, so yeah, I am a Sherlock Holmes fan).
It is a bit different than your average pox list, since it is more aggressive. I added Cursed Scroll on therestless suggestion and I really like it in the control matchup where the rack often is useless. This is still in the testing phase, my previous pox list it somewhere in the old clan thread.

@chilligyro why play Nihilith over nether traitor? Seems like chaining traitors with pox effects could work well.
Because the Nihilith is 4/4 and can actually block if it needs to. Furthermore it comes into play with haste (since it is always played from suspend). Also, Nihilith is not the card you sacrifice, you sacrifice either bloodghast or nether spirit, since they are recursive and then keep beating face with the nihilith. I also find nether traitor to be too mana intensive for a deck that does not have access to a lot of mana. If Nihilith is suspended and you resolve a pox that takes 7 life away (and roughly 4 time counters on average) and then discard either a nether spirit or a bloodghast, your opponent will usually have a hard time.

Well... I'm a junior Computer engineering student that works close to full time in a biometrics research lab. I also spend Sundays watching football, the treasurer of my fraternity, and have a full time girlfriend (she hates that joke). I don't have that much time. In fact, a breakdown is:
168 hours in a week:
62 hours working on homework/projects/exam studying in a computer lab
29 hours working in the research lab for work
18 hours of class (6.5 hours monday wednesday, 5 hours friday)
41 hours sleeping (5 hours a night on weekdays and 8 hours on weekends)
**The only reason I have this is because my friends didn't believe how much I do spend doing stuff, so I walked around with a journal 2 weeks ago.. was kind of fun, I plan to keep doing it and put together some breakdown to show my friends and family**
Don't take this as a complaint I just have a lot of things I wanna do and watching a tv show isn't the highest on my list.
I do plan to watch at least a little for winter break when I go home super excited, my professor gave me the full break off!! (last year I went home for Dec 20-Jan 4th because I had to work on a project to present at a biometrics convention for funding)

My friend has another theory.
He thinks he worked with that chick in the morgue that really liked him. He seems to think he slowed his heart rate by slowing his circulation to avoid blood loss. If this is the case, there will be some explanation as to how he didn't become completely crushed. He also thinks he worked with the responders to cart him away extra quick to avoid blowing his cover
And since I didn't say, the vote for the tournament will go until Satuday
