I'm getting geared up for my last real semester. Taking a slew of hours and pouring every ounce of time I have into my studies, but after this it's just a capstone class and an elective and I am done. Feels like it's been forever.
Haven't spoken to him.
He txt me a few times the following week and I replied with one-word simple answers. It isn't uncommon for us to go 2-3 weeks without talking here and there, but he knows I'm not speaking to him right now. His last txt said something like, "Seems you aren't talking to me, silent treatment huh?" I didn't reply. He doesn't seem to understand it isn't about him or some split tail 'silent treatment', it is about my dignity and self-respect. I forgive him & love him, but I am not going to be treated that way by anyone in front of others or in private. The not talking is about ME. I'm doing what my gut tells me to and if he doesn't like it, well, then don't black your best friends eye.
While trying to make sense of this situation; I realized there is no making sense of something senseless. Right now I have to do what I feel is right to keep Dave feeling good about Dave. I imagine I'll speak to him again sometime, but it will be when I feel comfortable doing so.

Netdecking is piloting Magic.
Homebrew is creating Magic.
Are you a pilot or a creator??
Quote from comment in a Ducktales Remastered review article »
*bwahahahaha* Ducktales spanked you? Cry me a river. When I was kid I fought tooth and nail against the difficulty and beat it. I felt like a gaming *god* when I saw those ending credits. You want a hard game? Try Fester's Quest.
The point of Ducktales Remastered is to stay faithful with an update to the quality, not baby the current generation of gamers who are used to constant save points, non-stop tutorials and hand-holding, in what can arguably be called the "Choose your own adventure" model of gaming. That frustration and throwing the controller? We did that as kids... many of us rage quit and never played again, while others practiced more, played harder and grew determined to take down that beast for the glory of bragging rights. Games like Ducktales separated the gamers from the pretenders. See also: Megaman, Metroid, Blaster Master, Fester's Quest, et al.
So the Amazon got boring... yes, that is your punishment for being a crap gamer. Ducktales was one of the more punishing games out there for the NES. It set the bar ridiculously high, but it also made hardcore gamers out of the few who stood their ground and became better.
I suggest getting the PC version and an NES or SNES USB controller to play it with. At least then you'll stand a chance. *laughs* Blaming it on the controller... yeah, we used to do that too when we were kids.
So. Awesome.
I actually still play the original – O-MAN is earning his hand/eye coordination oldschool. He's getting decent at Contra, but Super Mario with its platforming is still daunting, & he hates timers. . . & he insists that *I* play Ducktales. I think I need to get the map for the Transylvania level, I always run out of time. . .

That's awesome!
Yeah, it seems like the era of truly difficult games has come to an end. Besides a few that stick out in my mind (Dark Souls), there just aren't that many difficult games on the market these days. While Ducktales is a little before my time, I would struggle with difficult games like Turok 2 on N64.
Hope things get resolved eventually Dux. That whole situation is just weird.
Congrats luck, good to see you on the team.
Ducktales is a fun game. I don't remember if I ever beat it. I do remember many difficult games over the years. I think the constant save points is what changed things, but seriously, that's probably a good thing. I wasn't allowed to sit and play for as long as it would take to beat some of those games.
I've been away mostly on being busy monitoring data and being out camping/researching. That, and my internet has been shut off on me for the past little bit...seems to be taking a while to get it back on. I have learned that my fancy new computer is not as functional without the internet. I miss the days when I can buy a computer game and actually play it whenever I want. Not that I'm always on the internet, but it is handy when I want it.
What else...hmmm. Cousin from Holland and we floated the salt river a few times. I took her hiking but probably told her too many stories of people getting lost and dying. She did end up with mild heat exhaustion, but that wasn't my fault. O_O
I also went out monitoring with an experienced BLM crew...who somehow was rather unprepared with people running out of water hours away from the vehicle. Several "lucky" circumstances and me sharing my last liter and we all came out fine. But that's a bit annoying...
I was camping for work yesterday and had some awesome BBQ. Think burying meat on top of 4ft of coals for a day, plus high quality dutch oven cobbler. That was fun.
I'll be heading off next week to do more monitoring at the xdiamond ranch. That's a working cattle ranch that also doubles as a place to rent out cabins for outdoor adventures. I just thought I would be camping there, but then they told me I would be in a cabin. Man alive are these cabins fancy, and I'll be in one of the fanciest cabins.
Edit:....What the Sam Hill? I can use my work's smart phone as a hot spot to provide internet to my computer? I wonder what that means for my data usage....
Oh...did I tell ya'll that I have access to a smart phone now? I'm not sure how I feel about it actually. The first day I had it I used it to download a soil app, used the GPS and that app to identify the soil I was standing on, then took a picture of the landscape and put it on the v bar v facebook page exclaiming the neatness of being able to do all this. ...then the smartphone overheated and wouldn't work for a while. Which seems like a design flaw and can be dangerous in an emergency situation.
Anyway, I'm hitting that learning curve that everyone probably hit back in 2001 or so. I've already accidentally synced the phone to my personal Gmail account (almost manually deleted all my gmail contacts)...an act that used up 3 gigs of data transfer and burned up the battery in 6 hours.
I suppose its about time I get used to all this...after all, they are phasing out those regular flip phones. Plus I should upgrade my personal phone soon. The touch screen has stopped working and I've been navigating most the options with the arrow pad that it has.

Playing in two Modern GPTs for GP Brisbane this weekend. Going to play Affinity on Saturday, and Bant Vial on Sunday. Wish me luck! Sorry I haven't been around much... work has been crazy busy!

All I can say is good luck. I hope you Top 4 or even win.
Good luck CharD ..I must say, you do live in an area with hella' choice tourneys!!

Thanks! We have so many GPTs at the moment because they are for the Modern GP in the city I live in this October. The side events at that are going to be amazing - two Legacy events, Australian Highlander (which is 60-card singleton vintage with a points system), and a Vintage event!
So I went 1-4 at the Saturday one, playing Bant Vial so that idea has been scrapped. But today I went 3-1 with Affinity into 3rd place of the top 8 then got crushed by KikiTwin in the quarters. Oh well. Still super fun!
I think I want to try Assault Loam next, to exhaust all of my non-Affinity options before the GP because god damn that deck is boring.
Awesome summer-preview day, & I spent almost the whole thing outside being young & free. Yay.
On the flipside, O-MAN! & I can now cane Contra – we use the 30-man code, O-MAN uses ~45 dudes (he steals my guys once he runs out. The factory zone with the timed spike mashers is his personal nemesis); I tend to die only when the controller says I'm running at an angle, not ducking. . . I know, I know, the controller excuse I only realize now how goddamn much I love getting in a boss's face & pounding that B-button rapid-fire style until it turns into fireworks. I mean, I remembered it being fun of course, but as a self-aware adult I find this touches something primal within my being. . .
Also, Battletoads' vehicle levels still eat donkeyloaf.
No, I went the degenerate route and I've kept up with Affinity. Haven't gone worse than 3-1 or 3-2 in the last four events I've played, so it seems like a solid choice.
That curse site looks abysmal! Will this site actually disappear?

Dux, did you ever confront your friend?
Yeah Dux, I wanna hear what ended up happening.
I 4-0'd Legacy this week, pretty happy about that. I hadn't done that since September or October last year. I finally got the Bant shell working!
