Guess I better introduce myself then :
My name is Michael , a high school student soon to be moving to New Zealand.
My hobbies are mtg , reading manga ( mostly hentai ) , playing soccer and playing LoL . I hope to be a psychologist . My idol is Michael Jackson . I would love to join this clan , even though I dont watch as much anime as I used to ( 465 bleach episode in 2 months ... which is a bit much >> ) .
Where in New Zealand? I'm in Auckland.
@Sepiriel Psycho-pass is pretty good.
PS did I get asked to be added to the list? Better ask now...
Posted a bit in the old clan thread, then lack of discussion + busy semester basically meant I forgot all about it. Hoping this thread is a bit more active
PS watched Wolf Children last Thursday - LOVED IT!
You were a member, right? The OP of the last thread doesn't mention you, so I guess it wasn't updated after you became a member.
By the way, I've watched Wolf Children at exactly the same day. And yes, it was amazing. It's touching, funny and has some great production values. I feel like this is a perfect movie to show your parents or a friend who has just become a mother. The only one of Hosoda's previous works I've watched is Summer Wars, but now I look forward to his next project, whatever it is.
Hi, I have kinda, sorta, not really, returned. My course has been keeping me really busy and I am in self-imposed exile in order to be able to study.
So.... who here is liking Psycho-Pass?
It's cool, we all have our circumstances. Should I consider you a member, or would you rather not let it distract you just yet? Anyways, glad to have you back.
Psycho-Pass has been pretty damn great so far, especially since my expectations were cautiously average. Perhaps the greatest downside of the show are the plot holes, and even those are not as great as the haters make them seem.

I dont mind being listed as a member, just let it be known my posting will be sporadic and mostly confined to weekends.

Considering its like only 5-6 episodes in i would love to see what you consider a plot hole.
And yes i was going into the show with a similar mindset. Right now with an understanding of the show better i am loving the concept.
EDIT:
Forgot to mention.... Ixion Saga DT is hilarious but has the most disturbing Ending Sequence i have ever had the displeasure of seeing, but at the same time has the most hilarious Chorus (and villain) ever (lets go E.D.! XD)

I don't really consider them to be plot holes at all, but some people were saying that, for example, they could've arrested and questioned the criminal from the last episode instead of shooting him. Which doesn't make sense to me, since he already almost blew them up when they raided his flat. And he was all but sane at that point, so questioning him wouldn't provide any half-decent info. And the world's system is built exactly so there's no need to ask first, shoot later. So yeah, the plot holes are mostly in the haters' heads.
Really , damn . I heard that I was going to go often to Auckland , so thats bad news for me
Is it for a job or schooling? Dunno, give me a shout when you arrive and I'll see what I can do for ya.
EDIT: Apparently Watanabe Yuuya is wearing shorts and T-shirts in November Tokyo weather because it has Azunyan and he's off to celebrate her birthday at a "GPT" in Shinjuku.
Meanwhile Yasooka Shouta is watching Smile Precure...

Well its a procedural mistake if we judge it from the standpoint of the this worlds logic (which if you notice is what the girl does which is what sets her apart from the rest of the cast).
But if you take into consideration how that world works its perfectly normal, the Enforcers are trained to point and shoot, without hesitation and without consideration, and the other detective is the kind who follows the Sybil command without question (how THAT one is not an Enforcer however is really weird).

Been watching Chuunibyou myself, which I find to be...well basically Haruhi with a new coat of paint on, but a riot nonetheless.
It's been reminding me of Haruhi, too, though it's different enough to stand on its own. The local Kyon often becomes the object of jokes rather than always being the tsukkomi observer, all the girls are cute and funny to some degree, and, of course, the premise is much more realistic. I haven't watched Hyouka or K-On, but Chuu2 is close to being my favorite KyoAni show after Nichijou.
I'm glad that the weekly discussion topic turned out to be popular, let's hope that it stays this way. But now, it's time for the new topic!
One of the clan's traditions that is worth reviving is watching a single title together and having a discussion about it. For now, let's decide on the genre of the anime we're going to watch. You can list multiple genres, if you want.
If you ask me, I'd be glad to watch something thought-provoking, those shows tend to have great discussions about them. So my genre of choice would be drama.
EDIT: Oh yeah, there was some discussion back when it was released, but I finally picked up 999, even got my first ending. I thought I was too hasty in ordering its sequel for my Vita before reading the original game, but if it's as solid as what I've seen of 999, I think that it's going to be my favorite Vita game of the year.
Oh yeah, almost forgot: we're most probably going to watch a movie or a small OVA series, no one's going to make you spend 13 hours just to take part in a discussion. Even if we were to choose a TV series, we'd probably stop after four or so episodes.
I'm fine with anything. If I had to pick a genre, it'd be josei. If I had to pick a realistic genre, then something shoujo. Those are always fun, although probably not quite what others here would prefer.
Yes I know those are less "genres" than demographics but whatever, it's how I categorize anime.
I would prefer to watch an Adventure anime or Shounen, but there aren't many out there like the ones I'm getting at. I've been absolutely hooked on Magi, which is what I was thinking of as an example of an anime I'd enjoy examining and discussing.
Also, my home desktop has been broken for approximately a week, so I've been perusing the anime on Netflix. So far I have rewatched Angel Beats, Shuffle, and Season 1 of Baka and Test, as well as watching Ouran High School Host Club, Rosario+Vampire, Demon King Daimao, and The Sacred Blacksmith for the first time.
Angel Beats is still heartbreaking the second watch.
Ouran was great, I regret putting it off for so long. Although the lack of any major resolution of anything at all is a little annoying. I'd probably watch it again. It's very fun as a deconstruction of a reverse harem. As that little girl says, "Debauchery!"
Rosario+Vampire was better than I thought it was going to be. It was enjoyable, with some decent fight scenes, although there is such a thing as excessive panty shots. It was still enjoyable, with the MC being appropriately dimwitted for a harem.
I watched Demon King Daimao expecting a fun little school anime with magic undertones etc. etc. It was much better than I expected, it had substance and action to go with the boatloads of ecchi and school life, but it feels rushed due to the lack of time allowed it. I personally think the opening is within the top 5 openings ever.
Sacred Blacksmith was...fine. It was very odd. I didn't get what it was trying to do, hopping between ecchi comedy and dark fantasy willy nilly. If someone could explain to me what redeems the series, I need to reexamine it.
On a more serious note, while I'm not entirely engaged by things like mecha, I can still watch them. Whatever flows for the rest of you should be good for me (given that I'll sample and determine if I'll just watch the whole thing).
I'll get to the Clan HQ bit when I get a chance, as I've been re-adapting to a new workplace (my old one was wrecked by Hurricane Sandy, so the commute and venues have changed drastically).
Time for some brief recollections/reviews of recent things I've watched.
-----
LB is pretty much where I expect a Key work to be at: the first heroine's arc completed, with a pretty sad, sobering story. I can only wonder the traumas sustained by everyone else. In the words of my friend: "Those who smile the most hide the greatest scars."
Chuu2koi has been pretty much going full steam, and the most recent episode finally gives us some insight to Rikka's psyche and persona. How much more will be elaborated in the next episode? Quite a bit, I can only assume. She's the way she is because she denied what had happened, right?
Psycho-Pass is pretty much all forms of awesome (I particularly enjoyed the makeshift Ghitu Firebreathing in the last episode). I really enjoy the stark contrasts portrayed between the Enforcers, consigned to gruntwork, the chief, an epitome of what Sibyl wants mankind to be, and Akane, who's clearly the game-changer.
More to come when I remember. I'm not really enthused to discuss SAO, as much as I enjoy following it, because the current arc is a heckuva drop-off from the first.
Busou Shinki - Lack of hamster is making me sad. That being said, it's one of these shows where it's unexplainable fun to watch.
Ixion Saga - RPG Gintama. Nuff' said. Well, I can add that Fukuyama Jun is going all-out in this.
Psycho-Pass - Getting more and more intriguing. Although my friend is like "PLEASE DON'T END UP CHALLENGING THE SYSTEM LIKE ALL THE OTHER SHOWS LIKE THIS"
Kaibutsu - Shoujo once in a while is always fun, and this show is really well-written.
Jojo's - Hands down the most ridiculous show this season. Speedwagon is such a bro. Please let the sales hold up so we can get a second season and ZA WARUDO
Magi - Seems like the whole production team is hitting a stride. Enjoyable show, ED isn't too bad (although people hatin' as an idol group sings it)
Hidasketch x Honeycomb - Oh god episode 6 almost had me in tears. It's episodes like these that makes me appreciate the show much more.
Sakurasou - JC staff making good shows two seasons in a row? What is this madness! Although, they did manage to pull all the veterans on this show. Strong character development.
C2Koi - Ep 7 was pretty... depressing in a sense. However, it explains why Rikka acts like such, and hopefully these events can help her change her attitudes and overcome loss.

EDIT: OMG UTENA BD BOX ALL OF MY MONEY. First half Jan 23, Second half Feb 27. 50k yen though... =/
EDIT 2: Wow, logged into Pixiv to see Fuzichoco doing a playmat. Definitely going to try get my hands on it. I just wished it was released 3 months earlier so I could have gotten her to sign it...
Ouran was great, I regret putting it off for so long. Although the lack of any major resolution of anything at all is a little annoying. I'd probably watch it again. It's very fun as a deconstruction of a reverse harem. As that little girl says, "Debauchery!"
Ouran is one of my favorite comedies to this day, and I wish I had time to rewatch it. For now, I'm watching Kuragehime, and the feelings I get are very similar to the ones I had while watching Ouran. There's just something about these Cinderella tales that clicks with me.
I got a three-week break from college to concentrate on my course paper, which is probably much more than I really need, so I wanted to spend some of this time to watch anime and stuff, but I ended up spending the first week watching only one episode of Psycho-Pass, Medaka Box and JoJo each. The pressure of the work I have to do is pretty tough to handle, and I didn't make much progress with it, either. I did, however, pick up two manga series, Suashi no Meteorite and Shinmai Fukei Kiruko-san. The former is a fun little comedy-SoL-action with nice character designs, though the plot itself takes a while to grow on me, and it has its share of toilet humor. The latter is a series that made a debut in this week's WSJ, so some people are pessimistic about its length. The first chapter was nice, so I hope it lasts.
Speaking of Psycho-Pass, the last episode was pretty cooool, if you catch my drift. Really shows who's behind the script here.
"A rich man thinks all other people are rich, and an intelligent man thinks all other people are similarly gifted. Both are always terribly shocked when they discover the truth of the world. You, my dear brother, are a pious man." - Strahd von Zarovich

Sailor Moon, Tenchi Muyo, Voltron, Ultimate Muscle, that sort of thing.
Second preference would be a tacky mahou shoujo for the lolz.
Eds: Third suggestion is to watch Interstella 5555.
btw, I still need to get to 999. It's still sitting there. lol
