I gotta be honest: Khans does not interest me at all.
There will be a few cards to get for Commander and none for 60 card casual. There are too many tricolor cards of weird color groupings I never play for me to find any use for them. Lots of great cards, lots of bad color costs to even bother. I will wait for set 2.
Just keeping up w/ all giving my story. Graduated w/ a B.S. in Game Art & Design last December. Finally found an industry job last week, doing QA testing for Digital Hearts, who does to QA for other game companies, like Konami and Bandai. In December I have my 4 year anniversary (longest relationship, ever...). Working on a living card game w/ two partners/friends. The game is going well and we'll be alpha testing it in a month or two from now.
I'm just coming back to Commander after only playing three or four times since the spring. I feel like I don't know my decks anymore, so I'll probably not be changing things up with the new C14 stuff yet. I have a mono blue Tromokratis deck I haven't even played yet. I expect it to be terrible. And glorious!
Frankly i would love to buy all of them. However i don't have that much monies. I would love to buy the red one, but again too many monies. So i'll probably get the white deck. I like nahri, already have a white commander deck, and have a feeling that one card in that deck is going to be more expensive as time goes on.
Have you seen the price of TNN now though? Even though it started off very high I've seen them going for about a third of their original price now, which is far more accessible.
I'm not interested in TNN as a card, I just don't want to see a repeat of the Legacy players buying up all the copies of the deck and the actual target audience (people who want to play Commander) being unable to get them. People here were even bribing local Walmart employees not to put them out on the shelf so they could buy every copy the store got that had TNN in it.
Looks like singles for me unless i can catch a red one at my walmart tomorrow. I just want it for the artifact shenanigans! I love me some artifact shenanigans...
Other than that, it is a hard sell. The black one has my attention because I love black. I may break down and go for green.
I passed up every opportunity to get any of the C14 decks, even at msrp. I felt bad at first, but now it doesn't bother me. I will be hitting online retailers for singles, so I can have all of them I want for about as much as one deck. Anyone else pass on them?
Someone call the coroner, I think this thread has died!
To liven things up, I want to see what everyone is doing for the holidays.
Thanksgiving will be spent with family nearby. Christmas will find my home stuffed with my wife's relatives from Florida. She is more excited than I am, but I'm happy she gets to be with them. I am hoping to utilize the time off work to really get some deck building going as well.
I guess one of the problems with forums on the internet is that people who are casual about things often aren't interested in posting regularly
A new store just opened up and they are doing casual oriented days, so I'll probably go check that out. I also recently got into some non-casual magic, so I'm going to be spending some Fridays and Saturdays at standard events.
Going to south carolinia for the holidays, going to enjoy seeing my family and escaping the frigid wasteland that i currently reside in. (I also might get some money since our game store has all the c14 commander decks at msrp )
Hey, I'm sure you've seen me around other threads, but I have been busy (hence part of my absence from our clan thread)... DESIGNING A CARD GAME... YAYYYY!!!! All seriousness, yes I am. Almost done with alpha testing and I will need beta testers in the future. Anyone interested? We plan on pitching to WotC/Hasbro, as well as Fantasy Flight (my two partners have connections to both companies).
Other than that, everyone have a good New Years? What did you do? Me and my g/f went to an ok hotel party at a Marriott. Funny thing is, when I booked 2 weeks earlier I didn't sen the small print that it was a "singles" bash. My lady got asked to dance a few times, which she politely declined, actually saying that she was "spoken for." Luckily, I struck up conversation while on line to buy a Diet Coke w/ a dude who was also w/ his lady & a group of other couples. So we sat at what might have been one of the only "couples" tables.
That's my NYE history.
By the way, anyone from SoCal? For testing purposes... We will eventually find ourselves at PAX West and PAX East in the future, so if anyone is there, keep any eye/ear out for a game titled (working title so far) "Influence."
Oh, and we'll be looking for artists in the future to. Work may be pro bono, at fiirst, but to get credit in a published game is well worth it.
Not much to report here except a disappointing lack of a black commander deck my wife hinted at under my tree. Was hoping for one since my mtg budget has been lacking this year.
Hope everyone else's was merry and bright!
Try out Puca Trade... all you need is a budget for envelopes and stamps (top loaders will eventually come to you so buying them is only needed for the first 10 - 15 mail-outs) and patience. You'll eventually get a constant stream of cards you want in the mail. Just look at my list of cards I have gotten shipped to me (see attached - if that isn't enough to convince you, don't know what will, lol).
I kept watch over this threadn but barely had anything to add. I don't play as much and find myself focusing on other things.
I also have General Anxiety Disorder and it has wreaked havoc on my life. I am trying to get help for that while managing my daily responsibilities. It is rough.
I am always excited to see someone post here though! Especially an originating member. How have you been?
Sounds excellent! I began playing around the time Oath came out and remember reading how powerful it was and how well it was doing in my Inquest and Scry mags.
The only ideas I have had are for a U/R artifact deck featuring Ensoul Artifact and a W/G defender deck with Assault Formation. Due to some changes in my life situation, though, both ideas have been put on indefinate hold. I will revisit them in the future as I am very excited for both.
