So the idea is a token control deck that relies on Hand of Justice as a Finisher and as a source of CA. The idea is to stall until you can either get one out, or overrun with tokens. The deck is land heavy because you want to get lots of mana (Earthcraft helps). You pitch extra cards (copies of lands or other stuff) to Incatian Crier which turns them all into Raise the Alarm. You use the tokens with Glare of Subdual to stall. The various cards that require you to tap creatures as payment work well with God-Favored General and yeah, just tons of synergies, in a small Wg package. (Gaze of Justice is in for flavor and removal though, and Sky Hussar is merely CA.)
One note: I wasn't sure if I wanted 4 Raise the Alarm or Spectral Procession. I wanted to lower my already considerably high curve, I felt weird having the Incatian Crier without raise the alarm, and Raise the Alarm is more green splash friendly, so I went with it. (It doesn't let you recuperate as well after a wrath, but you can do fun tricks with it none the less.)
I wanted to say I didn't look at anyone's list before making my own, but (I can't remember who posted first)'s list caught my eye (as in I saw it while scrolling, I only saw 3 cards + plains) and I saw it was trying to do the same thing as my original idea (merfolks), which I decided to keep using, pretending I never saw your list. The deck morphed into UW Opposition, which I then changed to GW. The rest is history.
EDIT: looking back, dang merfolk would have been unoriginal, I just looked at the two decks.
So, I realized something odd today. My deckbuilding is affect by my personality. I thought I learned to deckbuild based on my needs, or from those around me (actually no...) but no, I never learned to "deckbuild" I merely took my usual way of making something new and applied it to magic. I realized today when I decided I wanted to make super for my best friend's birthday. I did exactly what I do when I deckbuild:
1. I look at a lot of diverse decks/recipies to decide what interests me.
2. I find one that gives me a general idea of what I want (chicken stir fry)
3. Get a generic idea of what I want to be making.
4. Go through all similar lists/recipies that I can find. Every similar card/ingredient reinforced the idea. Every slightly different one makes me rethink what I want in it.
5. Write a list of cards/ingredients that I want along with a side list of possible variations I could be doing.
6. Possibly pivot to make one of the variations the main idea, then go back to step 4.
7. Otherwise, look at everything I've written down, and make cuts until I end up with the final list/recipe.
8. Minor possible adjustments.
And that's how I make decks, meals, LOL builds, DND characters...
Just placed my quarterly order of $130 worth of singles. My wife always gives me hell when I buy them even though she doesn't notice when I set aside $10 every week for them.
I also updated my decklist. Kjeldoran Outpost is a great card in this deck, but not when you start the game with 3 in your hand.
Sorry I let this one fall through the cracks. I think it's too much hassle to create a poll to see which deck wins. So instead, how about we just we each give our opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of the different decks, then the person who chose the card will pick someone else to choose the card for the next deck.
I'm brand new to EDH, so I would probably do more harm than good.
I finally finished my cube. I painstakingly picked 180 cards. I didn't choose any cards that are already in any of my decks. I also didn't choose any counterspells or direct damage spells. That made it much more challenging to pick decent blue and red spells.
So I just did a mock draft to playtest my cube. Player A is pummeling player B. Player B plays a Mindslaver and player A has Final Fortune in hand. GG.
Sure, I'll put the list up in a couple days. The main theme of this cube is revenge of the Johnnies. Since casual players tend to complain about how spikes use a ton of removal, this cube is the exact opposite. It has no counters and no removal spells. It also has a healthy number of creature enchantments since you don't have to worry about losing card advantage. I also made sure that I didn't include any cards from my other 66 decks.
I own 4 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and 4 Cabal Coffers.
I use 2 of the first and 4 of the later in a casual MBC deck, and I like to have the combination of the 3 in 3 of my 12 commander decks.
So I've been using proxies, as I'm not using more in a single deck than I own and I don't want to switch cards around.
Thing is, proxies kinda suck and they aren't high quality. But doing this practice for my more expensive and rare cards (like JTMS) left me with a deep dislike of using the actual cards, for fear of damaging them.
4 Hand of Justice
3 Stonybrook Schoolmaster
4 Field Surgeon
2 Cloudchaser Kestrel
2 Darien, King of Kjeldor

Oh I also have a trivia question. When I buy singles, I use the TCG Player Optimizer. Which seller do you think I buy the most cards from?

4 Gaze of Justice
4 Battle Screech
4 Raise the Alarm

So I think back of my variants that didn't make the cut and see how they merge with the main idea.
I also updated my decklist. Kjeldoran Outpost is a great card in this deck, but not when you start the game with 3 in your hand.

Obviously, this is a budget draft, and you could add in things like Detention Sphere, but this is a first draft. What do you guys think?

The next Clan Contest that will be held is the Clan Mafia.
We would like to know if there is enough interest from the clans to set this game up.
Please send me a PM to inform us whether your clan is interested in joining.
Thank you for your attention, I now return you to your regularly scheduled clan conversations.
